The accident killed 58-year-old Steelton resident Samuel Maravich when the tractor-trailer Lash was driving pushed Maravichs car off the Route 581 bridge over Hummel Avenue.The two-day trial centered on the condition of brakes on the tractor-trailer Lash was driving.The crash occurred because the brakes were in such a condition that he could not stop, said Cpl. Andrew Thierwechter of the Pennsylvania State Police, who does accident reconstructions. Lash applied the brakes 464 feet from the place the rig stopped and 235 feet from the point at which he hit Maravichs car, Thierwechter said during testimony Wednesday.If all 10 brakes had been working to their full capacity, he said, Lash should have been able to stop in 196 feet, completely avoiding the crash. Canary announced last week that Tyrone Watson, Rasheek Morris, Mike Felton and Keith Tolbert, of Macon County offered guilty pleas for charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, and possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime between March 2005 and November 2008.<br/> <br/>In October 2005, law enforcement officers received information that led them to believe Watson and Morris were running a drug distribution organization, selling cocaine and crack in the Middle District of Alabama.<br/>Armed with the information, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) agents, deputies with the Lee County Sheriffs Department and officers with the Opelika Police Department developed a confidential source who began making purchases from Watson and Morris.<br/>The purchases took place at a trailer located on Essie Morris Road in the Lee and Macon Counties area. The Essie Morris Road location was the center for the drug trafficking activity and was equipped with security cameras and armed guards.<br/>Between May 2005 and March 2006, law enforcement made numerous purchases from Watson, Morris and Felton, who often acted as armed guard and manager for the operation.<br/>On March 3, 2006, the Lee County Sheriffs Department executed a search warrant at the Essie Morris Road location, looking for property stolen from the Lee County School Board. Present at the location and arrested was, among others, Keith Tolbert, who was armed with a firearm and a quantity of crack cocaine.<br/>Tolbert, a local drug user, often acted as lookout, guard and errand boy for Watson and Morris in exchange for crack cocaine.<br/>During the search of the location, agents found numerous firearms, including assault rifles, ammunition, money, drug paraphernalia and quantities of cocaine, crack and marijuana. The girl told officers she visited LaGrew for one week to play video games and watch movies. She said he had a modeling chair that shook and that he had kissed her, according to the criminal complaint. <br/>A 7-year-old Ashland County girl also told police she spent time with LaGrew. The two committed sexual acts, but no intercourse occurred, the complaint states.<br/>The younger girl said LaGrew took pictures of her nude and showed her pictures on his camera of a naked boy and people performing sexual acts on children.
