I was a payroll clerk; in the Navy, many foreign nationals tended to gravitate towards the service jobs (probably a throwback to the old days when that was all they were allowed to do).

My cousin served in the German army... which seems weird until you learn that he's a German citizen.Jim McKeehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04302154484950586503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24953038.post-1156946620273580822006-08-30T10:03:00.000-04:002006-08-30T10:03:00.000-04:00My dad was in the Philippine Navy. Worker's Comp required I do some light duty in order to keep pay. I had to sort buttons in the wardrobe dept. of the casino. Literally I had a Sparklett's bottle of buttons to sort.

On my first day with a cast, not able to do a lot...a Mexican wardrobe dude managed to steal the wallet out of my purse in literally 5 minutes of time before I was told where to keep it.

No money was in it, (I SWEAR the only money was a few Pesos left in the change part from a recent trip to Mexico...fitting huh?)

My worry was the Navy photo of my father that had lived in that wallet for many years. I don't know if you believe in karma or not... but this is truly a story that still causes the hair on my arms to stand. Also... a woman's purse can be a myriad of abyss.

I KNEW my Dad's Navy photo was gone. Hubby consoled me when I cried. Much to my dismay, or disbelief, or whatever you call it... many months later when cleaning out (dumping out) this large bag and all of it's junk...

My Dad's Navy photo fell out of the mix onto the floor. I cried again, and will NEVER be able to explain how it ever left the photo folder in my wallet. Some Navy things just can't be taken away.Malinda777http://www.blogger.com/profile/08228981460138143575noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24953038.post-1156888341323923872006-08-29T17:52:00.000-04:002006-08-29T17:52:00.000-04:00Crew cuts were only mandatory in Boot Camp.
