(New York, NY) – After a quick initial sell-out, the historic three-nights only Winwood-Clapton shows at Madison Square Garden have released a limited amount of tickets previously held by the production staff for sale to fans on Friday, December 7 at NOON EST.

On the heels of a stunning collaboration at the Chicago Crossroads Guitar Festival in July of 2007 and after much speculation, Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton announced these three eagerly anticipated concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden. In what will be one of the must see shows of this decade Winwood and Clapton will perform together February 25th, 26th, 28th, 2008.

Both Winwood and Clapton have long and prestigious musical careers with countless honors and awards to their names. Their musical paths connected in 1969 with the formation of Blind Faith, a group that pioneered the fusion of rock and blues into tremendous studio and stage success. Despite critical and popular acclaim, the band was short-lived with only one album and a brief 1969 tour that debuted July 12 at Madison Square Garden and ended August 24th in Hawaii. Since that final show, Winwood and Clapton have remained friends, but have only performed together a few times over the years for an occasional song at a charity event. The 2008 Madison Square Garden shows will be the first full Winwood-Clapton concerts in almost 40 years. The duo has said that no set list has been discussed and they will spend rehearsal time deciding which songs will be featured at these shows.

Steve Winwood is currently signed to Columbia Records and will have a new album out in early 2008. Eric Clapton’s current album Complete Clapton is available now on Reprise Records. The duo’s captivating performance at the 2007 Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago can be seen in a 2-disc DVD available now from Rhino Entertainment.

These shows will be produced by Ron Delsener for Live Nation. Tickets will be available in advance to American Express cardmembers.

Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival 2007

The Crossroads Festival at Chicago's Toyota Park was an unprecedented success, with great acts, great organisation and great weather enjoyed by an excited, good-natured crowd.

Eric surprised everyone by joining Bill Murray on stage to open the festivities and jammed on Van Morrison's "Gloria" - the only song Bill Murray claimed to know how to play on guitar. Eric also stepped out with Sonny Landreth, the first performer of the day at the end of his set. Bill Murray, who emceed the day's event, would appear in costumes throughout the day, recreating Eric's various "looks" throughout the years including the Rainbow Concert and several phases of his permed look in Cream, including an appearance with a psychedelic Gibson SG.

John McLaughlin, Alison Kraus & Union Station, Doyle Bramhall II entertained the crowd early on. The Derek Trucks Band had some special guests in Susan Tedeschi and Texas blues legend, Johnny Winter who treated the crowd to a blistering version of "Highway 61.". Robert Cray served as the "house band" for blues legends Hubert Sumlin, Jimmie Vaughan and BB King. John Mayer, who over the past several years has grown into a serious player from pop-idol, played a crowd pleasing set. The "country set" lead by Vince Gill band treated the crowd to not only some of Gill's own material, but the country-pickin' of Albert Lee and the jazz-tinged stylings of one of the icons of American country music, Willie Nelson. Vince and his band also backed Sheryl Crow for two numbers. Eric stepped on stage with Sheryl for a surprise "Tulsa Time". Jam band Los Lobos was followed by an hour long set by Jeff Beck, with Jeff treating the crowd to stellar versions of "'Cause We've Ended As Lovers" and "Day In The Life".

Then, it was time for Eric's solo set. His band not only featured his 2006 / 2007 tour lineup, but added Ian Thomas on drums in addition to Steve Jordan. The set list was heavy on Dominos tunes including "Tell The Truth" and "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad". Eric also floored those in attendance by playing a stunning "Isn't It A Pity" (George Harrison). Robbie Robertson stepped out for Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love" and "Further on up the Road" - reminiscent of their appearance in The Last Waltz. Steve Winwood was EC's final guest for some classic Blind Faith numbers including "Had To Cry Today" and "Presence of the Lord." The highlight for many was "Dear Mr Fantasy" where Winwood blew the crowd away with some blistering guitar work.

The show closed with an appearance by Buddy Guy and his band. For their final three songs, they were joined first by Eric, and then by many of the guitarists who had performed throughout the day.

Synopsis
Eric Clapton is far more than a rock star. Like Dylan and McCartney he is an icon and a living legend. He has sold tens of millions of records, played sell-out concerts all over the world and been central to the significant musical developments of his era. His guitar playing has seen him hailed as 'God'. Tracks such as 'Layla', 'Sunshine Of Your Love', 'Wonderful Tonight' and 'Tears In Heaven' have become anthems for generations of music fans. Now for the first time, Eric tells the story of his personal and professional journeys in this pungent, witty and painfully honest autobiography. But the rock star lifestyle has had a darker side too. In more than forty years at the forefront of his profession he has twice survived near fatal addictions to drugs and alcohol, the death of his own young son, the deaths of friends such as Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon, the break-up of marriage and the disintegration of relationships with a succession of beautiful women. Eric was born an illegitimate child to a Canadian airman in 1945 and raised by his grandparents. Until the age of 9 he believed his absentee mother to be his sister. When the truth was revealed he felt a sense of abandonment and isolation which was eventually to drive him to despair and addiction. From his early teens his solace was the guitar. At the age of eighteen he joined the Yardbirds and from then on his legendary status was assured. In 1966 the world's first super group, Cream, was formed and at the age of 22 Eric was a world superstar. During his later solo career, his love for George Harrison's beautiful wife, Pattie Boyd drove him to the hell of drug addiction and by the 70s he had disappeared from public view. But Eric fought back and produced platinum albums such as 'Slowhand' and eventually married Pattie. But the love of his life didn't last. Alcohol took over. In the late 80s the marriage disintegrated, and Eric had a son, Connor, with an Italian supermodel. But Connor was tragically killed in a freak accident. Eric's elegy to his son, 'Tears In Heaven', became one of the biggest selling singles in history. These are the memoirs of a survivor, someone who has reached the pinnacle of success, who has had it all, but whose demons have never left him. At the age of 62 Eric is now ready to tell his story as it is, hiding nothing, with a directness and searing honesty that will make this book one of the most compelling memoirs of our time.
