were down in Nashville giving the status quo a purple
nurple with their alt-country act The Bis-Quits. In
that same tradition the duo has re-emerged as Daddy 'a
rockin' outfit that gives real rockin' country an 18-
wheel push. 15 years ago, Alabama bars would advertise
his appearances simply by putting 'WILL' on the outside
marquee; that's how well-regarded the Mobile native
already was by then in his own backyard. His guitar
solos would amaze and his songwriting would captivate.
It would take the world years to catch up. Indeed,
they're still doing so.

Billy Gibson first picked up the harmonica at a very
young age. "It was cheap and I could easily make sounds
with it." After high school, Gibson?s desire for
learning and improving as a musician took him to
Clarksdale, Mississippi, where he played with blues
guitarist Johnnie Billington and drummer Bobby Little
in Billington's group The Midnighters. "Johnnie and
Bobby taught me how to make it in this business",
Gibson recalls. Like many before him, Gibson eventually
left Mississippi for Memphis. "Beale Street was my

Heather Myles gets her musical inspiration from a
background that is as diverse as the artist herself.
Growing up on a ranch in Southern California, Heather
was immersed in the sounds of country music radio at a
time when legends were being born. The voices of
Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Waylon Jennings, and Hank
Williams all played a large part influencing Heather as
a songwriter and an outstanding performer.
Additionally, it was the sound of her dad's ukulele
and grandpa's old Scottish bagpipes that have been
responsible for shaping her into the artist she is
today.

popularity with a self-produced television show in 1992
and soon was touring nationwide, wowing audiences with
his outrageous and campy, white-trash persona and
freewheeling, sleazy tone. Hinson?s most recent CD
release, "Target Practice", melds weepy twang and
searing guitar riffs and lyrics that speak of love-
gone-bad and the dark side of the honky-tonk lifestyle.

Booker T's Potato Hole Fall Tour
The album rolls through a selection of far-ranging
compositions, each separate and distinct pieces that,
by turn, manifest his characteristic adoration of the
groove, exploring and exploiting each mood to the
limit. Whether it's a case of cosmological serenity or
funky staccato chicken peck work-outs, Jones' melodic
vision and expansive arrangements are delivered with a
mesmerizing quality. The album also pushes into
sometime previously unvisited-by Jones territory: lead
track "Pound It Out" is a brawny, relentless exercise
in hard rock, an intense, driving song that's far more
of a head-banger than a blast of steam-heated soul. If
that seems out of place, you don't really know Mr.
Jones; "I like rock music, always have." he said. "Otis
[Redding] did too, and we were getting into it a bit,
but couldn't really do it back then. It just wasn't
right for Stax." The statement is more than a bit
provocative, but the musician tosses out such
revelations like carelessly hurled thunderbolts, an
arsenal accrued over the course of his remarkable
career.Whether laying down a meditative ramble or hard-
charging rocker, Jones' sense of artistic liberation
and depth of involvement on every track here is breath
taking--with Potato Hole, the cat is going into orbit.
"The Hammond B3 and me have this thing goin' on. It's

The Beatles 45 years Ago in KC
On Aug.18 1964, when the Beatles arrived in San
Francisco, to begin their first monster tour of
America, 26 concerts were planned. Waiting for them was
Charles Finley, the owner of the Kansas City A's
Baseball team. Apparently, he had personally promised
the kids of Missouri a Beatles concert. He first
offered The Beatles manager $50,000. to add K.C. to the
tour and was turned down. He then offered $100,000 and
was still turned down. Finley finally writes a $150,000
check. This makes musical history, as the highest paid
concert to date. On September 17th 1964, playing a
thirty-two minute set to crowd of about 20,000 in
Kansas City Missouri, The Beatles made $4,838. a minute
for their performance. the Humphrey Collection will be
on display and some rare photo's of the Beatles live in
KC will be on a slide show and some prints will be for
sale

Salgado was the inspiration behind John Belushi's
creation of the Blue Brothers characters in the late
1970s. They met and became friends while Belushi was in
Eugene Oregon filming the movie Animal House . The
Blues Brother's debut album Breifcase Full of Blues is
dedicated to Salgado. For six years he performed with
Robert Cray's band, and sang lead on Cray's debut
album. Later in 1995 he spent a short stint as the lead
vocalist with the Latin Rock Band Santana.

(These days, she's shaping what you might call a Civil
War post-murder ballad.) But the uneven intersections
in her work explain why she makes her home at the
musical crossroads of Memphis.

Dave Gonzalez & The Stone River Boys
Last summer, out of the ashes of the Hacienda Brothers, sprung the Stone River Boys featuring Dave Gonzalez and Mike Barfield. When the Hacienda Brothers released their third and final studio album titled Arizona Motel in June, guitarist Dave Gonzalez was left with the unfortunate task of promoting the new release without his partner Chris Gaffney. Gaffney, a founding member who was also the band�s lead vocalist and accordion player, died unexpectedly from liver cancer in April. So Gonzalez put together an Austin all-star band last summer to hit some of The Bros. favorite venues. Joining him was vocalist Mike Barfield, virtuoso Dave Biller on pedal steel, bassist Kevin Smith and veteran Tom Lewis on Drums. It was Gonzalez himself who took over the onstage vocal duties for all of Gaffney�s songs, nailing them with emotion and finesse night after night. Gonzalez�s outstanding performances are no surprise to those who followed The Paladins, where Gonzalez did the bulk of the singing for over 20 years.

David Lindley (Strings Master)
Multi-instrumentalist David Lindley performs music that redefines the word "eclectic." Lindley, well known for his many years as the featured accompanist with Jackson Browne, and leader of his own band El Rayo-X, has long championed the concept of world music. The David Lindley electro-acoustic performance effortlessly combines American folk, blues, and bluegrass traditions with elements from African,
Arabic, Asian, Celtic, Malagasy, and Turkish musical sources. Lindley incorporates an incredible array of stringed instruments including but not limited to Kona and Weissenborn Hawaiian lap steel guitar, Turkish saz and chumbus, Middle Eastern oud,
and Irish bouzouki. The eye-poppingly clad "Mr. Dave's" uncanny vocal mimicry and demented sense of humor make his onstage banter a highlight of the show.

David Lindley grew up in southern California, first taking up the banjo as a teenager, and subsequently winning the annual Topanga canyon banjo and fiddle contest five times as he explored the American folk music tradition. between 1967 and 1971 Lindley founded and lead what must now be seen as the first world music rock band, the Kaleidoscope. In 1971, Mr. Dave joined forces with Jackson Browne, serving as Jackson's most significant musical co-conspirator until 1981. In 1979, Lindley had begun working with old friend Ry Cooder on 'Bop Till you Drop' and 'The Long Riders' sound track, a musical collaboration that lasts to this day, and has spawned many recording projects and several world tours as an acoustic duo.

In 1981, Lindley created his own remarkable Band El Rayo-X, which integrated American roots music and world beat with a heavy reggae influence. 'El Rayo-X', 'Win This Record' and 'Very Greasy', as well as a live e.p. during this period he also came forth with a solo album, 'Mr. Dave'. Lindley and guitarist Henry Kaiser went to Madagascar for two weeks in 1991 and recorded six albums of indigenous Malagasy music (including two collaborative cd's, 'A World Out of Time' volumes one and two on Shanachie) which proved to have a major impact on the world music scene, both for the quality of the Grammy nominated music recorded, and the fair and ethical way the Malagasy musicians were dealt with.

One word to describe the swampdelic sounds of Chubby Carrier and Bayou Swamp Band? Fun. Pure Louisiana zydeco fun with a hot sauce chaser. Anybody who has doubts about the accordion as an instrument will be swayed the right way with Carrier's passion and fire on the instrument.
There's traditional roots in Chubby's zydeco, but expands the sound for all ages. Live and in studio he's taken songs like B.B. King's "Rock Me Baby," Billy Preston's "Will It Go Round in Circles," The Who's "Squeeze Box", War's "Cisco Kid" and the Grateful Dead's "Fire On The Mountain" and dragged them through the swamp with beautiful results. It's adding Louisiana spice to popular tunes that help Carrier build the bridge between zydeco and the rest of the world.

Soon after those successes, Susan went into her first retirement at the tender age of 12. Though she's been singing for most of her life, Susan Cowsill has never gone solo before - unless you count a couple of early '70s singles that you'd have to hire a detective to find. Now, after her famed childhood with the Cowsills, her ten years with the Continental Drifters and too many guest appearances to list, Susan has finally recorded her first solo album, entitled Just Believe It

One of the four Neville Brothers, Cyril Neville was the youngest, born on January 10, 1948, in New Orleans, LA. Cyril picked up his love of music from his parents and his older brothers at an early age, but it wasn't until 1967 (at the age of 19) that Cyril began singing professionally, as he united with brothers Art and Aaron in the outfit Art Neville and the Neville Sounds, playing the New Orleans club circuit on a regular basis. Cyril and Aaron eventually left the group, forming another outfit, Soul Machine,
Music has been Robin Rogers' consuming passion ever since her days as a teenaged street singer. Possessing a deeplyexpressive and soulful voice and an infectious enthusiasm for the blues, Robin and her band have developed a devoted and growing following. Jim Suhler made a name for himself in the State of Texas as one of a number of fine young Texas guitar slingers coming out of the Dallas area. In recent times, Suhler has stepped into the national spotlight as the second guitarist for George Thorogood and the Destroyers. On Friday night, Jim Suhler brought his own band, Monkeybeat, out to Famous Dave�s, performing in more of the Texas style that Suhler developed as a Texas regional star. Following an opening instrumental that showcased Suhler�s guitar talents and featured a clearly Texas, guitar-based style,the band broke into a fine version of "Black Cat Bone", including Suhler's fine guitar and vocals, along with an excellent keyboard solo by Sean Phares, a fine player who has worked with another Texas guitar notable, Andrew "Jr. Boy" Jones.

Curtis Salgado (Blues/ R & B /Soul)
Curtis Salgado's musical journey began with his birth in Everett, Washington, in 1954. His family moved to Eugene, Oregon when he was one and he grew up there listening to jazz, and to his father, an aspiring singer of classical music. His ambitions coalesced when, at age 12, he saw Count Basie's band perform in Eugene. Curtis became a part of the burgeoning Northwest blues scene starting in 1972 with a band called Three-Fingered Jack. Eventually he hooked up with up-and-coming guitarist/vocalist Robert Cray, and recorded the album "Who's Been Talking." In six years with Robert, the higher level of visibility enabled Salgado to sit in with the likes of Muddy Waters, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Albert Collins and Bonnie Raitt. Aside from being a tremendous vocalist, Curtis is one of the finest blues harmonica players in the country. In 1979, when John Belushi was in Eugene filming Animal House, he caught Curtis' act and liked what he heard and saw. Curtis took the actor under his wing and schooled him on blues and R & B history, which Belushi soaked up like a sponge, and used a good portion of Curtis' show as the basis for the Blues Brothers act he and Dan Akroyd put together. Chris Hillman:
He is a folkie who wound up in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. He is a journeyman sideman who wound up singing lead on 10 top-10 country smash hits. He is a bluegrass mandolin picker who detoured to three Gold Records in rock bands. He is a self-taught composer who wound up cowriting some of the cornerstone songs of the country-rock repertoire. In the beginning, he was just another curly-headed, guitar-playing kid from Southern California. But his life in music has taken him through several of the major movements that have defined modern American pop -- folk-rock, hippie psychedelia, country-rock, jazz fusion, contemporary country and modern bluegrass. His name is Chris Hillman. During his three decades as a music maker, his laborators have included Emmylou Harris, Stephen Stills, Vern Gosdin, David Crosby, Gram Parsons, Dan Fogelberg, J.D. Souther, Bob Dylan, and Roger McGuinn. He has been a member of The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers and The Desert Rose Band. He is a living history of popular music. But since he is nowhere near finished making memories, that's a book he's not ready to write.
Herb Pedersen:
Herb began his career in Berkeley, California in the early 60's playing 5 string banjo and acoustic guitar with people like David Grisman, Butch Waller, David Nelson, and Jerry Garcia. For the last thirty years, Herb has lived in southern California, and participated in select music groups, either in recording, or traveling on the road doing concerts. His recording discography is like a who's who of the singer/songwriter scene, so prevalent in the 70s and 80s. His own groups, like The Desert Rose Band, and The Laurel Canyon Ramblers, show why Herb is so respected in the industry. With his lifelong pal, Chris Hillman, Herb is in the process of continuing the type of music they both grew up playing and singing. There is a work in progress most of the time and that's the way Herb likes it.

Greg Brown
Greg Brown's mother played electric guitar, his grandfather played banjo, and his father was a Holy Roller preacher in the Hacklebarney section of Iowa, where the Gospel and music are a way of life. Brown's first professional singing job came at age 18 in New York City, running hootenannies (folksinger get-togethers) at the legendary Gerdes Folk City. After a year, Brown moved west to Los Angeles and Las Vegas, where he was a ghostwriter for Buck Ram, founder of the Platters. Tired of the fast-paced life, Brown traveled with a band for a few years, and even quit playing for a while before he moved back to Iowa and began writing songs and playing in midwestern clubs and coffeehouses.Brown's songwriting has been lauded by many, and his songs have been performed by Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana, Michael Johnson,
Shawn Colvin, and Mary Chapin Carpenter. He has also recorded more than a dozen albums, including his 1986 release, Songs of Innocence and of Experience, when he put aside his own songwriting to set poems of William Blake to music. One Big Town, recorded in 1989, earned Brown three and a half stars in Rolling Stone, chart-topping status in AAA and The Gavin Report's Americana rankings and Brown's first Indie Award from NAIRD (National Association of Independent Record Distributors). The Poet Game, his 1994 CD, received another Indie award from NAIRD. His critically acclaimed 1996 release, Further In, was a finalist for the same award. Rolling Stone's four-star review of Further In called Brown "a wickedly sharp observer of the human condition." 1997's Slant 6 Mind (Red House Records) earned Brown his second Grammy nomination. His latest CD, One Night (Red House), is a re-release of a 1983 live performance originally on Minneapolis' Coffeehouse Extempor頒ecords.

A songwriting legend returns to KC after 25 years!
JD was Glenn Frey's roommate (the downstairs neighbor was Jackson Browne) and went on to write "New Kid In Town", "Heartache Tonight", "Best of My Love" and others for The Eagles. One of the principal architects of the Southern California country-rock sound, Souther famously played a key role in the formation of the Eagles as well as writing Linda Ronstadt's classics "Faithless Love","Simple Man, Simple Dream", and "Prisoner in Disguise".

You know J.D., even if you don't think you do. On top of a successful solo career, including the hit "You're Only Lonely" J.D. was an "unofficial Eagle" who wrote a ton of their greatest hits. He also penned some of Linda Ronstadt's best songs, was a member of Souther Hillman and Furay, a 70's group that featured former members of the Byrds and Poco, and he appeared regularly on the television show Thirtysomething.

Souther has just released his first new CD in 25 years, and is coming to Kansas City for the first time since he opened for the Eagles at Kemper Arena on the Hotel California tour.

In 1984, singer/songwriter J.D. Souther followed the chart-topping successes of "You're Only Lonely" and the James Taylor duet "Her Town Too". With HOME BY DAWN, an album that Rolling Stone declared his best, with songs that "rank right up there with his forlorn classics "Run like a Thief" and "Faithless Love". And then, in 1985, after a brief tour in support of the album, J.D. Souther disappeared. A highly sought-after songwriter and session man, Souther also released three critically acclaimed solo albums -- "John David Souther", (1972) "Black Rose",(1976), and "You?re Only Lonely" (1979) -- and two albums as a member of The Souther Hillman Furay Band, the supergroup which united Souther with Poco's Richie Furay and the Byrds' Chris Hillman.

But in 1985, after countless hit records, Grammy nominations, American Music
Awards, and gold and platinum albums, J.D. Souther decided to walk away from his solo career. According to Souther: "I just wanted to be a good songwriter. I wanted to just stay home and write."

Relocating to Nashville, Souther wrote for and with artists as diverse as
India.Arie, Brooks & Dunn, Jimmy Buffet, Glen Campbell, Joe Cocker, Crosby Stills & Nash, Diamond Rio, Dixie Chicks, Don Henley, One Flew South, Roy Orbison, Bernadette Peters, Bonnie Raitt, George Strait, Brian Wilson, Trisha Yearwood, Warren Zevon, and most recently the newly re-formed Eagles, who chose Souther's protest song "How Long" as the debut single from their first studio album in twenty-eight years.

Trampled Under Foot, winners of the 2008 International Blues Challenge, is like no other blues band you will ever see or hear. Danielle is an amazing blues singer and an excellent bassist. Kris fires right in the pocket on the drums and sings as well. Nick is a strong singer and an accomplished guitarist, winning the 2008 Albert King Award from the IBC.
