Artist's Statement:
No matter how much we try to plan something, the outcome has a life of it's own. Just as the infleuence of a random, casual encounter can alter our mood, conversation, or even our prespective on life, so it is when masking tape and paint mesh together on canvas in front of me. Although the fluidity of the pieces may appear to be random, they are well thought out layered interacations creating uncanny areas that seem air-brushed or one field. At closer inspection, one is able to see and feel the complex and emotional intensity that each layer reveals.

Though the autumn has begun it's a summerly day here.
But before I will enjoy this nice weather in my garden, I would like to feature a new artist.

This mixed media painting is one of the Impressions Series by Manuela Valenti.

Title: Elementos - Agua
Size of the work: 10" wide x 30" high
Medium: Oil, collage and mixed media on canvas

Manuela was born in Caracas, Venezuela and has attended a high school in Venezuala, where the primarily spoken language was English. So she speaks Spanish and English, but because of your Italian parents Manuela speaks also Italian. She lives and works currently in Michigan.

I'm not sure, but I think this nine-piece painting in acrylic was painted in 2003.
Each piece measures 20cm x 20cm.

Abstract Triptych with Acrylic and Sand

That is a contemporary triptych which I painted in 2004.
In the same year it was sold to a British art buyer.

I have used sand and acrylics for this abstract painting.

Today or tomorrow, I will go to the Völkerschlachtdenkmal (Monument of the Battle of the Nations) and go up the approximately 500 stairs to the viewing platform.

The monument is located only a twenty minutes walk from my flat and I often go there but it's been over thirteen years since I last went into the monument.
I will take a lot of photos so that I can start a new photoblog.

The colour of the weekend is black

Leipzig is dressed in black this long weekend.
About 20,000 Goths from around the world are expected in the city.
They are visiting the yearly Goth festival.
I think the wear, make-up and hairstyle of many is a style of art.

This weekend, Leipzig is also celebrating the yearly city festival and the Bach festival.

Tomorrow I will present a new artist on my blog.

In this painting I experimented with goldenrod.

It was the first plant that I used in an artwork.
