I just remembered ...Eric, thanks for posting this. I just remembered his retirement. I'm sure million other people in Japan watched the special retirement event for Sadaharu Oh (We called 'Wang-chan' in old days...He's a Taiwanese Japanese) on TV at home and cried. He was my hero when I was kid growing up in Japan even though I didn't care much about baseball. The story of Wan-chan and his baseball coach Shigeo Nagashima -especially the story of Oh's 'ippon-ashi-dahou' (one leg batting method) was very popular in Japan and it inspired kids in Japan to imitate him.
