I don’t get the LA Times, so unfortunately
I couldn’t read the article, but just
from looking at the pictures, whenever
I see a house like this it reminds me
of one of my favorite houses,
Mies Van der Rohe’s steel and glass
house or the Farnsworth house.

Although they differ in a lot of ways,
where it seems as though the La Grange
house is more about the sturdy steel
structure being the frame that
connects the outdoors and
the indoors. And then the Mies
house being more simple and prestine
and showing a certain type of elegance
in how the steel and glass come together.

Some would never make that
comparison, but what they do
have in common for sure is the
openess concept. I think it is
an interesting idea and I would
imagine it would provide for a
different type of lifestyle.

It looks like this house has a lot
of great and well-designed detail,
the yard looks interesting as well.
It would be a great find and surprise
to spot it in a quiet neighborhood
like Sawtelle. I can’t really tell from the
the photo, but the roof looks pretty
tall and hefty. I wonder what the
the reason is for that. It almost
looks like it could have been
some other kind of building.

The funny thing is though, the very
things that I like about these types
of houses also make me feel
uncomfortable. Although they
look gorgeous, I don’t think I could
live in one because I would need
more privacy. I think I see them
more as a display or a piece of art.
It looks like a great place to have a
party, but I couldn’t live there.
