Hunza Hangover !!!

HHHHHHHUUUUUUUUNZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!Forget Murree and Nathiagali, Hunza is the place to BEE ANDD SEEEE !!!! IT"S SOOooO BEAUTIFUL !! Gosh, I still can't get over the trip nor the beauty of that place and its fresh air. It just keeps getting better as you climb higher and higher all the way upto the Khunjerab Pass, which is the Pakistan-China border ( 14,000 feet above sea level!!! WooOohoo I've managed to touch the two extreme points of the country! Western part of Pakistan remains...anyone wants to come along?) As for the duration of the journey, well it was one heck of a SCENIC 30 hour bus-ride !

We managed to cover quite a bit in Hunza; visiting the Baltit and Altilt fort, having pancakes and coffee at ' Cafe De Hunza ', visiting the viewpoint where the Karakoram, Himalayas and Hindukush Mountain ranges meet, jeep-rides to Eagle's Nest ( one of the highest viewpoints in Hunza where you get a panoramic view of the Hunza Valley below) , clinging onto my friend for dear life while climbing a mountain to see the glacier! Picture this : rocky mountain to your left, a 2 feet wide path beneath your feet and a sharp never-ending drop to your right ! It was shit scary ! Seeing the numerous peaks , the prominent ones being Rakaposhi, Lady Finger and Cathedral..and the list goes on and on and on of the many FUNZ !!....as they say in Hunza , Khosh!! I'm heading up north this weekend for a class trip to Hunza !! Yay!! :) Hopefully we'll also go right up to the Chinese border at the Khunjerab Pass, along the famous ' Silk Route ' or 'Karakoram Highway' . Looking forward to an awesome excursion in the mountains ! It's going to be a really loooooooonggggggggg journey though but worth every scenic minute of it !!! See the map below for details .

Farewell Croc Hunter !

Steve Irwin, or Croc Hunter as he's more popularly known , died on Monday while filming at the Great Barrier Reef. A stingray's barb pierced his chest. I was really sad to hear about his death as I really wanted to meet him one day in Australia but alas that's not going to happen now. He's going to be missed the world over for I've never seen a man with so much energy and passion towards animals as he had. It was electrifying! Animal Planet won't be the same without his tv shows and his very famous , " Crikey ! "

Farewell Steve ! You were an inspiration to millions of animal lovers across the globe!

A father passing by his teenage daughter's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was neat and tidy. Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the centre of the pillow. It was addressed "Dad". With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands.

Dear Dad,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you, but I'm leaving home. I had to elope with my new boyfriend Randy because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I've been finding real passion with Randy and he is so nice to me. I know when you meet him you'll like him too - even with all his piercing, tattoos, and motorcycle clothes. But it's not only the passion Dad, I'm pregnant, Randy said that he wants me to have the kid and that we can be very happy together. Even though Randy is much older than me (anyway, 42 isn't so old these days is it?), and has no money, really these things shouldn't stand in the way of our relationship, don't you agree? Randy has a great CD collection; he already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter. It's true he has other girlfriends as well but I know he'll be faithful to me in his own way. He wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too. Randy taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and he'll be growing it for us and we'll trade it with our friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Randy can get better; he sure deserves it!!

Don't worry Dad, I'm 15 years old now and I knowhow to take care of myself. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren.

T.G.I.R !!

The above title is not a typing mistake for T.G.I Friday's (though I love the food there and the dancing waiters !) but for ' THANK GOODNESS IT RAINED !!! ' .

The past 2-3 weeks has been nothing less than a barbeque oven with the Lahoris roasting in temperatures as high as 45 degress centigrade ( and this is just the beginning of summer !!..temperatures touch 47 C ) and enough for you to fry an egg outside (the car bonnet makes a perfect frying pan :P )...but ofcourse summer brings with it a lot of delicious fruits to cool off with in the form of shakes, juices, etc. From your lassi to the mango shake...drinks are the order of the day ! Mango Mania will be coming up soon ! Yummy! :)

So there we had it, the rain came as a blessing and pretty soon after that Lahore started experiencing " Flash thunderstorms "...you know, clear sunny sky one minute and rain, mayhem, lightening the next ! They're interesting, they come unexpectedly in the middle of the night with all their fury and glory and refuse to stay for long. They don't even leave behind an overcast sky ! Oh well they at least dropped by !! Come again please :)

' Tis also the season for Finales ! The Amazing Race 9 has come to an end with the HIPPIES winning the jackpot !! Yaayyyy ! Now that's how everyone should be like, taking every challenge with a smile on your face and being positive no matter how horrible the situation is. The Hippies sure did deserve it all the way ! Then there is American Idol with its finale coming up next week. AAAAH Chris comeee back !!!! I was counting on him to be the next idol. This batch of finalists has to be the best till now....the Kool Kat...Taylor's Convulsion's..Chris the Rock Star...and Elliot the inspiration !

Last week's results show how tough the competition is this time...only by a few decimal places !! Now that ' George Clooney ' and Kat are left, who is it going to be ? I think it will be Kat..

Oh well the academic season finale is here marked by exam fever...*sigh* !

Congratulations @ Lahore ! The day has finally arrived.....the dream has been 'realised'... 13th May 2006 goes down in history for the first realisation :D Yaaaaaaaaaaay !

The two golden words which are music to any OGXer's ears... " Match" and " Realise " ...time to celebrate!! Thanks everyoneeeeee for all your help and support!! From our lovely MC members, Tori..Delia..to the awesome OGX department members...I couldn't have done it without you guys ! And ofcourse a special thanks to Sundus for all her patience ! You Rock !

Delia and Sharmin were in town last week with an agenda packed with a LOT of meetings but, as always, we also managed to have our fun too! :)

The house was once again celebrating 'diversity ' :) I think I should keep a guestbook now like the one in Pakistan House and also rename my house ..lol. The latest entry in the guestbook at that time was of Musharraf and his wife but the one entry which caught my eye was of an ' ex porn star ' from Malaysia..LOL !!
These people sure do come across a lot of ' interesting ' people !...hmmmm.....
Thepast few months have been nothing less than incredible with the number of foreigners that have visited the country and have stayed with us; Austalia...Germany..Romania..Switzerland..USA...England..and now India. Is there any Brazilian willing to come down here ? hehehe

We took Sharmin to the Wagha Border and i was quite surprised to learn that she had never heard about it. Every day a flag-lowering cermony is held there where the Pakistani and Indian guards on either side march up and down simultaneously, stomping their feet, showing their anger towards each other while patriotic slogans emanate from the big crowd gathered on either side. It's all an act, since obviously they're on talking terms with each other with the amount of activity that takes place at the border everyday. The Lahore-Delhi bus also passes through this border.

Our MCVPICX was getting bugged by the fact that she can't exit the country from the border. Instead, she will have to go all the way down to Karachi and then fly out ! ( Sharmin, next time get a walk-across visa so that you can also jive in the no-man's land like we did .LOL ! )
There's also a Chacha WAGAH, just like the 'Chacha Cricket ! ' . Much older and dressed in green and white, the chacha led the crowd with the ' naaraaybaazi'.

It was fun and now there is a plan in the pipeline for an ' @ the border ' meeting with @ers from either side....that will be pretty cool ! We then showed her around Lahore, and went to the Badshahi MOsque...it looks absolutely gorgeous at night !

It was Sharmin's last visit to Lahore and I hope to see her again here ! Pretty soon the MC will be leaving Pakistan ! *sniff * :( .....I had my share of waterworks at NLC so i'm not going to do that over here :P....WE WILL MISS U !

World the time has come.......!!

Hey AIESEC !!

I've given in to the pressure from various quarters and have joined an @IESECer's favourite ( ? ) online obsession: BLOGGING ! Even though Orkut still remains to be the number one favourite for many, at least over here , lets see how this turns out :)

Anyway, the latest on the Lahori scene is that the theatre season is back with full force. A number of good productions are being showcased in Lahore and one of them being ' Primal Fear '. Our very own VPTN 06-07, Sohaib Athar, will be performing in it :D

The play will be held from 20-22nd March. Al-Hamra Hall 2 , Mall. Gates close at 6:30 pm. Passes are available at CTC, Masoom's, Hotspot, Zouk, etc so be there ! The Annual Youth Theatre festival is also underway at Al-Hamra , Gaddafi Stadium. Various schools and colleges are participating in it including LUMS and NCA. Daily performances at 6:30 and 8:30 pm.

Due to the very busy schedule of our star for the next three days, the EB will be having their meeting at 7:30 am!... heheheh.. Have fun !
