September and October events

September is nearly finished and since my last posting much has happened.
I started work again at the beginning of June this year and after a trip to Paris for which I am still working towards an achievement, I had Circa, met friends at the Ritz, heard Lord Janner of Brandstone, replaced the bathroom, went to Ascot, sponsored the Gay Business Association, went to Bournemouth, the Guards Chapel, London Pride, Socialite evenings, Doggett’s Coat and Badge Race, Cenotaph, Cercle Francophone, Café de Paris, Hartwell House, Oxfordshire, Society’s events, Eccentric Club’s Events, the Mansion House, Wales, Belgium, Chelsea Physic Gardens, Decayenne’s Events, The Roof Garden, Kenwood House for the Last night of the Proms, was interviewed by “Ici Londres”, met Ambassadors, Ministers, Tycoons, Aristocrats, fashion designers, models started the ‘Salon d’Or’ and went to a few more networking parties and enjoyed life in general: just the run of the mill. 

Dear Friends, Colleagues and Esteemed Clients,

June has passed us by in a flick and we have been very busy in and around London including a trip to Bournemouth. The House of Lords Dinner on the Terrace was well attended and thank you to those who made the effort of going, this was the same night as Circa so could not stay long and went rather fast.

On the 6^th July, I joined the events committee of the Worshipful Company of the Marketors (link below).

On the 9^th, I attended a workshop organised by Melia Hotels in London and met again friends from the industry who mingled and booked rooms across Spain, Germany and UK, Emmanuel Ray evening was on the same night and I met some very talented artists and many young people with bright ideas, more to come.

Friday 10^th was the Doggett’s Coat and Badge Race on the River and members of the Bishopsgate Ward Club gathered in front on its President apartment on Cheyne Walk to watch the race

Saturday 11^th, Belgium celebrated the 75^th anniversary of the Cenotaph Ceremony on Whitehall and HRH Prince Philippe of Belgium attended

A small group gathered afterwards at the Hispaniola on the Victoria Embankment for wine and tapas till very late in the afternoon.

Monday 13^th, Sir Ian Mills came to talk of his charity to the Rotary Club of London and the 14^th after a fitting good bye to Marion at the IOD, I went to celebrate the Bastille Day with the most aristocrats that I could find at the CPFE ;-).

As I am writing this I will go and listen to Nicholas Ellis and its quintet at the Royal Overseas League for the launch of their new CD. Tomorrow showcase of the shadow lounge and Friday Champagne Dinner at Hartwell House before two garden parties over the weekend in the Country. I am passing by several parties that I have to go to, one at the Chelsea Arts Club and a breakfast at the HAC

On the 20^th I will attend the 30^th anniversary party of Gay Times Magazine at the Roof Garden and on the 22^nd the last night of the Proms at Kenwood.

I am also announcing the creation of the Salon d’Or that will see some musical, poetic, and political events. We always avoid in polite society to talk about politic, religion and sex, yet we never seem to stop thinking about it. We will debate, talk and enjoy conversation around drinks and nibbles and perhaps dinner. This is a membership Club and for £ 15 per month, you will get invitations to the most exciting events you can get, its first event is on Tuesday 25^th August to get to know each other’s.

Thursday 27^th and it is eccentric time again as every fourth Thursday of the month. (see above) From the 11^th September, (we will have our anniversary dinner, who would have thought that this is already 2 years since the phoenix or should I say owl came back again) The Eccentric Club will have a monthly dinner party.

Belgium celebrates the 75^th anniversary of the Cenotaphe Ceremony in Whitehall and Belgian people will receive notification nearer the time of the very important visit we may have.
London Bridge celebrates its 800^th anniversary and the Marketors will enjoy a day of festivities in the City dressed in Medieval costume. On the 17^th will be a joint fundraising for HIV and the Arts at the Arts Club, likely price will be £ 15.00 minimum donations for drinks and canapés.

Friday 17^th will be a fundraising for HIV people and their friends who would like to socialise in an informal manner, please apply to me £ 20.00 per person to include wine and canapés. There will be a silent auction with fantastic prizes.

Tuesday 28^th The Worshipful Company of Marketors will host a banquet at the Mansion House.

Thursday 30^th Rhian Powell marries Alan Doyle so will be in Wales for some days.

for sale. This is an excellent opportunity for people to acquire original and valuable works of art and to meet their creators at the same time.

As some of you might know, I have not been well last year and have been recovering since, thus my silence on the 'net'. I am pleased to say that I am now at 95% better and starting to collate meetings and events for the future.

Hope you are doing well, I am getting better by the day although not fully restored but nearly! Here is a picture of me taken at the Arts CLub, not so long ago.

As I am starting to go and see people, I have been nearly chastised for not sending news of what is happening around. (even though I am not organising the events myself!)

Well, Wendy Harman is the Chair of the Originals prints and they have a very special private view with Sir Peter, Lady and Rosy Blake next Monday 16th February, tickets are very reasonable at £ 35 pp to include Champagne and Buffet. Tomorrow on the 10th February, Mary another Belgian Chocolate Maker opens officially at the Westfield Shopping Centre and the Ambassador and people from the Anglo-Belgian Community will attend at the same time Danusha Fine Arts in Shepherd's Market opens its new exbition and the Business Travel Show starts at Earl's Court.

on the 12th I see my surgeon and there are some African dances in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital lobby. In the evening I will attend a private screening of Milk and if I can will go the Salon Prive at the Hurlingham Club.

On the 18th Ken Howard is showing at Richard Green (147 Bond Street) and will be present during the day, I look forward to seeing him again and hopefully Vera too.

on the 19th at noon Griff Rhys Jones opens the 20/21 International Art Fair at the RCA and I think that I am due at the Westbury in the evening.

The London Fashion Week starts on the 20th till the 24th and various events will happen.

On the 23rd Michael Winner speaks to the Rotary Club of London and good God, I am reading my diary here!

24th is Shrove Tuesday and there is the usual Pancake Races across the City and wold recommend the one at Guildhall,starts at noon.

There are various show that will not interest you but one event that I will attract your attention is another exclusive event for Children with Autism on the 26th February in Central London. Various work of Arts will be auctioned by Christie's Chairman, do let me know if you would like to join me on this one as this is by invitation only and it is hoped that you will invest in one or more work of Art. All proceed to Charity.`

I am still gathering my strength and will return at the beginning of February fit and ready with more to do and go.

In 2009, this will be 30 years that I have been involved in the Hospitality, Events and Charity Sector in the field of general management, public relations and marketing.

I have organised and created events, campaigns and fundraisings with and for Crowned Heads of Europe, Ministers, Tycoons, CEO's, Blue Chip Compagnies and Celebrities.

Always discrete, persistent, consistent and with the attention to detail that makes you ask for me time again, you know that I make it happen and that I get people together.

Locations have been varied in countries and places and included Royal Palaces to Dairies passing through hotels, theatres, museums,music-halls,planes, yachts and some unusual and even unheard of.

After mon operation at the beginning of October, I suffered some complications resulting in my being resuscitated once and being told that I would not make it if I needed a drastic further operation. Anyway, after my hospital spell I am now at home recuperating and getting better by the day.It will take some time and I very much hope to be up and again by January and organise your events and similarly if you hear of a part or full time senior position in hospitality, events, PR, marketing or Charity,please let me know. I am prepared to commit to one or more companies in 2009.

Dear Friends,

True I have to slow down due to an abscess operation on the 8th October, so bear with me till the end of November. I will always answer my phone if I can and will call you back if you ask for it and leave me your details, don't be surprised there might be a larger delay as I get very tired very quickly at present. However I expect double speed six to eight weeks after the operation.

Whilst in Provence, I visited my friend Pascal Budor who is director of a most fantastic hotel and restaurant http://www.abbaye-celle.com . This is an Alain Ducasse’s establishment.

On the 8^th August many of us will be looking at the opening ceremony of the now controversial Beijing Olympics. May the best win and that the Olympic spirit prevails over politics. Our friends from Mossiman’s are there already, looking after the Committee (lucky them)

Friday 25th July – “Swan Upping”

Studying at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama under the support of the Countess of Munster Musical Trust, tenor Joshua Ellicott took four of the top prizes at the 2006 International Vocal Competition in s-Hertogenbosch including the overall first prize. He has performed at London's Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, Royal Albert Hall and Barbican Hall, operatic performances with most of the major British opera houses and recently the role of Narr in Wozzeck for La Monnaie in Brussels.

Friday 15^th August – “All Things British”

Baritone Roland Wood studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and at the National Opera Studio under the support of the Peter Moores Foundation. He has understudied and performed operatic roles for European Union Opera, Aix en Musique Festival, Glyndebourne and English National Opera, as well as opera galas with the Bayerische Rundfunkorchester and the European Union Youth Orchestra in Baden-Baden. He has represented England in the Cardiff Singer of the World (semi-final winner) and in 2008 will be appearing as Renato in Un ballo in maschera for the Nationale Reisopera in the Netherlands, Alfio in Cavelleria Rusticana at English National Opera.

Friday 26^th September – “Surf & Turf”

Australian born mezzo-soprano Katrina Waters graduated Royal College of Music’s Benjamin Britten International Opera School in London with distinction. She is strongly established as a international artist in demand for roles here in the UK, Europe and Australia. She has broadcast on BBC Radio 3 as part of a masterclass series with Malcolm Martineau. Her opera roles include Meg Page in Falstaff with Lyrique-en-Me Festival de Belle-Ile, Brittany, Florence Pike (Albert Herring) for the Aldeburgh International Festival and Bianca in the Rape Of Lucretia (Britten). Concert highlights include Mahler’s Kindertötenlieder in Canberra and performances in Sydney Opera House with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra.

Friday 24^th October – “Mademoiselle Renard”

One of the world’s most sought after sopranos, Sarah Fox won the 1997 Kathleen Ferrier award at 24 and began her professional career singing Karolka in Jenufa for Glyndebourne Festival Opera and has recently performedfirst Rhinemaiden in Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Asteria (Tamerlano) for the Bayerishe Staatsoper München. Sarah has appeared regularly at the BBC Proms and Edinburgh Festival with Sir Charles Mackerras.

Australian pianist David Barnard graduated from his Bachelor of Music studies at the age of 18 and received national recognition for his outstanding achievements during his study. He has worked as an accompanist extensively around the UK, Europe and Australia accompanying some of the finest singers and instrumentalists in the profession. He is a Yehudi Menuhin & Britten-Pears Young Artist.
