Me and Snoop Dog share.

Jesshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05598754639579069342noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2424870769894615516.post-55574130759653327322008-05-02T11:33:00.000-07:002008-05-02T11:59:27.633-07:00Filling in the blanks--framily assignment (Carrie)Finish the sentence...

Never in my life have I been: more content to just be myself.

The person I know with the worst temper is: …well, last time I answered this question, I called out my brother-in-law, Kirk, but after reading it, he broke a bunch of dishes and proclaimed that I was no longer welcome in their house…so, I’ll go with Kirk. ;)

High school: was over for me 10 years ago now—I still can’t wrap my head around that! I wonder what the plans are for that reunion…

When I'm nervous: it’s pretty obvious. (Mainly because I end up blurting out the fact that I’m nervous.)

The last song I listened to was: “Number 1” by Goldfrapp—how much fun would it be to have that last name? I’m going to start using it as a verb, noun, etc., much like you would the word “Smurf”.

If I were to get married right now my best man/maid of honor would be: determined by a cheesecake bake-off.

My hair is: much bigger when it’s humid outside.

When I was 5: I bitterly resented the idea of naptime. Oh, how I’ve changed.

Last Christmas: we made the most awesomely tacky holiday sweatshirts ever!

I should be: taller. Oh, well.

When I look down I see: a drawing on my foot that I may make permanent soon ;)

The happiest recent event was: the framily reunion—so wonderful! :)!

One thing I’ve learned so far this year: is that you should never say never.

By this time next year: I’ll be a year older and, God willing, more Goldfrapped; other than that—who knows?

My current gripe is: this sinus mess that has taken up residence in my head.

I have a hard time understanding: people who complain, but don’t want to fix their problems or their Goldfrapps. (This isn't working...)

You know I like you when: I’m playfully mean to you…otherwise, I wouldn’t bother with you at all…

If I won an award, the first person I would tell would be: the loser of that same award (“Boo-ya!”—Tobias style!), then my momma.

Take my advice: because I have the spiritual gift of wisdom. (What? That’s what the book said.)

The thing I want to buy: is out of my price range.

If you visited my hometown: tell them Ronnie & Becky Brazzell’s youngest daughter says “hey.”

If you spent the night at my house: you should know that I’m a snuggler.

The world could do without: barbeque sauce. I say let’s try it.

Most recent thing I've bought myself: was a file thing to keep my feet smooth and pretty.

Most recent thing someone else bought me: was supper, but it wasn’t over $20, so the rule about having to sleep with them doesn’t apply.

My favorite blonde is: going to turn 3 this summer!

My favorite black-haired friend is: not my dad’s dog, Gambit. That animal is the Succubus from the bowels of hell.

My middle name is: where my sister got the name for her daughter, Susannah (Suzanne is mine).

Last night I was: feeling sick, but was glued to the latest episode of Lost!

There's this guy I know who: would look good in a light purple pearl-snap western shirt…

I’m excited that: I get to sleep in tomorrow! (It doesn’t take much to excite me.)

If I was an animal I'd be: the suffs and live a life of luxury.

A better name for me would be: Mrs. Georges St. Pierre. or something followed by Goldfrapp. ;)

Tomorrow I am: sleeping in, maybe shopping, and cleaning my house in case company pops by.

Tonight I am: weighing my options…I just hope I’ll feel good enough to venture off my couch.

My birthday is: next month (June 12)—plenty of time for you to shop!

Carriehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14978024065381106575cbrazzell@hotmail.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2424870769894615516.post-38922999226899432172008-04-27T00:21:00.000-07:002008-04-27T00:30:20.865-07:00
I feel im in a wierd rut. like im so torn.

my soul torn

terra firma

thats what i crave. dry land. i want to come back to the city on a hill

everythings spinning. ive lost my way.

jas.

i enjoy the fram

inlandsurferhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18222653509697375533noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2424870769894615516.post-1169209995576794632008-04-18T05:48:00.000-07:002008-04-18T05:49:10.605-07:00This is how excited I am right now!!!!!!P.S. (If my camera had taken the shot 1 second sooner, you would've seen him with his arm in the air and his eyes closed in ecstasy...stupid camera.) It was at this concert that I learned the framily has FANS...or maybe they are doing research since they think we may be a cult of some sort, anyway, I'm not splitting hairs--we have followers, people. Time to get out those Carrie Christna robes we've been saving! It was, of all things, a charismatic Christian school, so we spent our time learning how to properly get "slain in the spirit" without getting a concussion and learning how to properly adorn out tambourines (ribbons were a must). The only redemptive thing about school, for me, was the buying of new school supplies each August.

This was a little bit of heaven and normalcy in a twisted educational system. Each year, with careful consideration, I would pick a Trapper Keeper. It had to be an image that would stand the test of the year and be envied by all.

So my fourth grade year I really had it down to a fine art. I chose a pink and blue splattered painted snow boarder, skate boarder, or surfer. It was probably the latter two because I don't think snow boarding had really taken off yet. But, being that it was splatter designed, it was somewhat difficult to nail down the extreme sport of my athlete. The first day of class I got numerous compliments on my trapper keeper. Boys complimented me on my inclusion of blue, after all, the other girls had chosen just pink, purples, and reds. I was on top of the world. I had chosen wisely. I loved the Trapper, the sound of the Velcro, and the many pockets for storing top secret messages. I was, by all accounts, pleased with myself and my life. But, like many children learn, when things seem to be too good to be true, they usually are.

Doom incurs.

I knew there was trouble a week later when my mom was asked to conference with my teacher. I was never in trouble and teacher conference meant disaster. Note: I did have one previous conference, but it was due to a stolen kiss a boy took, who was promptly given a swift kick to the groin, via me. I had just watched Karate Kid and felt empowered. I think I should have been praised.

Anyway, my mom comes out and immediately takes my pack back. I had seen the Punky Brewster episode about "Just Say No" and thought "oh, they think I am on drugs, no biggie." This is so what happened to Punky and Henry bought her ice cream with his apology. Ice cream here I come. Mom will be sorry for her doubt in my sobriety.

We get home and I noticed my mom had not said anything, but had white knuckles from clutching my book bag so tightly. She went outside, while I told my Rainbow Bright what a crazy she was, and then suddenly I saw it. She reached in my bag and grabbed the Trapper. Oh, nu- uh. What's she doing? I sprinted out of my room and followed her outside to the back yard. "Mom, what are you doing?" She was silent.

She had a look on her face that I had seen only once before and it resembled the brother's in "Old Yeller" right before he shot him. We walked and suddenly I saw the burn pile going full force and thought with relief, "Oh we are going to burn my school papers." We are gypsies and have a strange obsession with burning things, so my fears subsided.

We finally reach the fire and mom starts removing all my papers. Whew, that was scary for a minute. Then my mom leaned over and said, "Jess, your teacher and I had a talk. We think this has to go." Schoolwork, heck yeah, it does.

Yeah, burn the papers I don't care. "Is there anything else in here you need?" Wait, wait, light bulb. She is talking about the Trapper. Panic sets in.

"What!" I scream in disbelief. My mind races, is my teacher jealous of my perfect Trapper selection, did the kids pay her off; what travesty could make me deserving of this?

"Mrs. Johnson saw the devil in the Trapper and thinks we should burn it to release the spiritual hold it has on you." she whispered.

"What?" This is crazy, even for my mother.

She explains, "See here in the splatter paint, it looks like a devil's tail." I search finding only ludicrousness in its place.

"Mom" I say trying to rationalize with her "that is the wshhhh from the water. You know when you ski or surf you get the wshhhhhh."

She had no idea what I was referring to. She looked at me, removed my pencil pouch, and with one quick motion sent Trapper sailing into the flames or back to his rightful home according to Mrs. Johnson.

In slow motion, I felt myself scream"Noooooooooooooooo," and fall to my knees.

Life, as I knew it, would never be the same. My mother left me there to watch Trapper melt into the nothingness with the remnants of aluminum cans and shoes boxes.

After the tears stopped, I swore one day I would have my revenge. Trapper's death would not be in vain. "I'll get her Trapper, I'll get her." Unfortunately, my mom had come back to check on me and heard this little monologue. No revenge would be had.

The next Sunday, they anointed me with oil to cast out the demons.

All this, over a darn 3 ring binder. Sigh.

Jesshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05598754639579069342noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2424870769894615516.post-43184408017842734532008-02-23T12:40:00.000-08:002008-02-23T13:29:03.163-08:00Chad's List...There's not really any kind of flow or order that is important to the list. These are just some songs that have meant a lot to me over the years. Some speak loudly of me and others just stir emotions within my soul. Enjoy.

Faith My Eyes- Caedmon’s Call
I’m a mommas boy. Always have been. It’s not easy being gone. This song makes me think of home.
“Hometown weather is on TV/ I imagine the lives of the people living there/ And I'm curious if they imagine me/ Cause they just wanna leave; I wish that I could stay”

When You Say Nothing at All- Allison Kraus
I think it could be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. You don’t hear a lot of people say “this is our song” anymore. We’ll whoever she is, I want this to be our song.
“Old Mr. Webster could never define/ What’s being said between your heart and mine”

San Dimas High School Football Rocks- The Ataris (Live at the Metro)
I wish I could be stuck in the days of good friends and no worries. I don’t know why, but this song just stuck with me. Maybe cause San Dimas High School came into my life during those awkward middle school years. Wild Stallions Rule!
“These are the things that make me free/ I feel like I'm stuck in ‘Stand By Me’”

At the Stars- Better Than Ezra
How do you pick a single song from your favorite band? This was one of the two songs I looked forward to hearing every time I saw them in concert. The other was “Live Again.” I think about the many memories that I didn’t want to end, “please don’t drive me home.”
“And I finally found/ That everybody loves to love you/ when your far away”

Yesterday- Beatles
What can you say here. Top 5 favorite song. I remember always hearing this when on vacations with my parents. They would always find the oldies station in whatever town we were in. They loved the 60’s music, so now today next to the 80’s it’s my favorite decade of music.

All Creatures of Our God and King- Crowder Version
I love the nature in this hymn. I love the awe of who God is. I remember back to a point where I was listening to this hymn while sitting on a boulder on the top of a mountain with only the waxing moon to light the ground. It’s definitely on of my favorite moments in solitude.
“Thou rising moon in praise rejoice/
Ye lights of evening find a voice”

Long December- Counting Crows
I listen to this song for this one verse. It seems so perfect to me. Almost like that’s the way it’s supposed to happen. As silly as it sounds I can visualize the light and the room. I walk into the room....and as they say the rest is history.
“All at once you look across a crowded room/ To see the way that light attaches to a girl”

This Years Love- David Gray
Falling in love is never easy. I feel like the older I get the harder it gets to do so. Jess and I discussed this the other night. I just want to get past the facade to the real person. I’m so jaded with the process.
“Cuz' it takes something more this time/ Then sweet, sweet lies, oh now/ Before I open up my arms and fall losing all control”

Power of Love- Huey Lewis and the News
Four words. Back. To. The. Future. How can you not smile when listening to this song. Such a great song in a simple time of my life.

Love Song for No One- John Mayer
Probably my favorite John Mayer song. Hopeless romantic? Maybe.
“Searching all my days just to find you/ I'm not sure who I'm looking for/ I'll know it/ When I see you”

Fair- Remy Zero
A very emotion filled song of heartache and regret, which ends with hope. I love the line “sing to me hope as she’s thrown to the sand.” Though I hear the hurt in the lyrics I do find a strange sense of peace once it’s finished.
“And all my words were bound to fail./ I know you won't fail...”

A Comet Appears- Shins
This isn’t a happy song. I hate that I feel the way this song sounds sometimes, but I do. I love the Shins. They sound throwback to the music my parents made me listen to.
“Close your eyes to corral a virtue,/ Is this fooling anyone else?/ Never worked so long and hard, /To cement a failure,”

In the Moment- Sister Hazel
Difficult to pick a song from this group. Many memories flood from the past when I listen to their earlier stuff. “All for You,” Jess?
“Every road has taken me/ Where I wanna be”

Walk on the Ocean- Toad the Wet Sprocket (Acoustic Dance Party Version)
What a gem this little cd turned out to be. This was definitely at etbu with Dan and Jess. I’m sure this cd played in the background as Dan and I had one of our top 10 favorite laughs.(fun fact: something like 6 of Dans top 10 laughs of all time include me)
“We said we'd send letters/And all of those little things”

Brown Eyed Girl- Van Morrison
Sits at the top of my favorite all time. I’m looking for my brown eyed girl.
“In the misty morning fog with/ Our hearts a thumpin' and you”

***Wanted to place “Jump Jive N Wail” by the Bran Setzer Orchestra, but someone did before me after talking to me on the phone. I love you Dan! So, I will make an amendment to his. This song probably brings back more memories than any other song on my list. I had the best swing dance partner and her name was.....Jess. She was fearless, and she let me throw her, swing her and spin her all night. I had such a blast while swing was in. And it was all because of my great partner. Thanks Jess for using your powers for awesome.

The Chadhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13290732166068782151noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2424870769894615516.post-41956156959687472512008-02-22T12:07:00.000-08:002008-02-22T12:14:31.848-08:00Like Uncle Like Nephew...

Chris reminded me of this when he said, "Train up a child..." hahaha

Katehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05847359023517288297noreply@blogger.com0
