4.5 year Labrador up for adoption/in need of a Foster home

A 4.5 year lab named "Sukhi" is up for adoption as her owner is facing some personal crisis. She will be available from Oct 2009 onwards. A foster home that can place her for 6 months or so is also welcome. I do not have her picture available, but Sukhi is a fawn colored very lab looking lab :). She is vaccinated and sterlized. She is very very loving and docile.

First the good news: The shelter has moved to a place near off Sarjapur Road and slowly the furry friends of ours (slightly shy of 200 and all Indian dogs) are being fed twice and have proper shelter over their heads and have been vaccinated this year. The bad news: the fight for survival continues.
Another moajor need, a vet and dispensary in the shelter premise is the next big thing we would like to achieve. This is where I request you all to pitch in.

To start with besides an ongoing medicines and grooming products (combs, brushes, soaps, shampoos, anti flea, anti tick powder, etc.) , the below list is what we need to setup the clinic:

Dipstick is a one year old sterilised, vaccinated female dog. She is brown and white with big floppy ears and melting brown eyes. She is very friendly and ideally needs a house with a compound or a farm because she is a real bundle of energy! However a loving home, compound or not, is welcome. She was taken in as a puppy and brought up by my neighbours, but when they shifted home, the new apartment did not allow them to keep her. She cannot be re-introduced into the road as she will not be able to fend for herself.

Puppies in need of a home in Bangalore

Hi,
These are 4 adorable puppies that live on the street near my house and are in need of a home. Just recently one of their brothers got hit by a car and died a gruesome painful death.

They are all extremely chubby and very playful. However, puppy four is very small and needs some extra nutrition, but is still very playful and adorable. They are about 6 to 8 weeks old.

They are on the street at the moment, susceptible to being hit by a car, or by eventually starving to death, when their mother finally stops breast feeding them. They are in need of a good home in Bangalore. Even though they are from the street, I'm sure they will give you all the love and loyalty you need. They have all been together so it would be great if you could adopt them in pairs, so their hearts aren't broken.

Noida pups

Hi there,

I have "rescued" four female pups (4 weeks old now) and am looking for
"good"(ones who don't discriminate against desis and are financially
and emotionally capable of giving them good care) homes for them.
I have as my pets their brothers Chotu and Motu (about 8 months old)
who are both large dogs.

Their ad hoc names are Moti(the fat one), Kali, Safedu(the white one),
and i haven't named the fourth.
They are breast feeding and also on puppy cerelac plus gradually
introducing them to large breed premium puppy food (which we also feed
the mother). Both their parents are large dogs.

We live in NOIDA.

About 2 months ago I rescued a stray pup from the street. It was attacked by other dogs and badly injured so I tended to it. It's now healthy and completely recovered. I have also given the necessary vaccinations. I'ts black in colour and has a white chest and a white paw. It's about 3-4 months old and has a good temparment. I have named her Spikey. I've also attached a few pics of hers.

Terrible Twins for adoption

Someone anonymously left two male pups (probably 5 weeks old) at my doorstep 4 days ago.

They are extremely fat and have an attitude - DESTROY!

They are black with white 'socks', a touch of white at the tips of their tails and a white streak on their foreheads.

I suspect they have some alsatian blood in them, but there is no way to tell at this age.

Whats clear is that they are mischievous, intelligent and healthy.

Much as I would to take care of them, I just cannot as I have too many dogs already.

Radio Indigo apologized twice on air following the protests and replied to each email that was sent against the program and RJ Meghna.

I have heard from other people who called the station that they are considering running programs to sensitize people towards animal related issues. I am glad that they are taking this stand.

I hope though that the person who committed this crime is traced and arrested, but I think that chances of that happening are slim.

JP's friend called me from Mumbai to ask for help with another cruelty case. Someone had thrown his girlfriend's pet cat against the wall breaking the cats leg. She wanted to know what could be done. I thought it is useful to post information about what can be done in such cases.

Firstly, BE BRAVE. Go ahead and file an FIR. Or ask an animal welfare NGO to do it for you. Sadly the police are not always aware of the laws that protect animals. It is useful if you take with you a print out or better still if you have a copy of the Indian Constitution with you.

Based on the FIR a police constable goes to the house and arrests the person and confiscates the animal. We accompany because we take the animal away. However, if an NGO is helping you, they will. The confiscation may not be immediate because the family might fight it. However, in most cases the animal is taken away.

IPC(Indian Penal Code)Section 428.

Mischief by killing or maiming animal of the value of ten rupees
Whoever commits mischief by killing, poisoning, maiming or rendering useless any animal or animals of the value of ten rupees or upwards, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, section 11, (1), (a)

11. (1) if any person
(a) beats, kicks, over-rides, over-drives, over-loads, tortures or otherwise treats any animal so as to subject it to unnecessary pain or suffering or causes, or being the owner permits, any animal to be so treated or

(b) *(employs in any work or labour or for any purpose any animal which, by reason of its age or any disease) infirmity, wound, sore or other cause, is unfit to be so employed or, being the owner, permits any such unfit animal to be employed; or

(c) willfully and unreasonably administers any injurious drug or injurious substance to **(any animal) or willfully and unreasonably causes or attempts to cause any such drug or substance to be taken by ***(any animal;) or

He shall be punishable **** (in the case of a first offence, with fine which shall not be less than ten rupees but which may extend to fifty rupees and in the case of a second or subsequent offence committed within three years of the previous offence, with fine which shall not be less than twenty five rupees but which may extend, to one hundred rupees or with imprisonment for a term which may extend, to three months, or with both.)

On Friday, April 17th 2009, Radio Indigo had a contest. ‘Worst Dashboard Disaster Contest’. The prize was given to a man who killed his sisters cat by leaving it in an overheated car for a long time. The Radio Jockey Meghna and the man laughed over the incident.

I think this deserves the severest condemnation and stern action. Apparently the channel has apologised because of the uproar this incident has caused but this is not good enough. When I called the administrative officer of the channel, he turned out to be a very nervous man who had nothing to say and promised me that he would give me the number of the RJ. He never did. I expected nothing less. Then I was given the number of the program-in-charge- Mr.Santosh.He initially did not take my call but called me back and pretended he could not hear me, so that ended the conversation.

Radio Indigo has aided and abetted a culpable offence. A PIL has to be filed and a legal notice has to be sent to both parties. Meanwhile I want this radio channel to be condemned for what it has done and RJ Meghna taken to task.

Regarding Milo...

i am dharmesh thakker from mumbai, got to know about you from rajashree khalap, i was searching on internet if someone could adopt the puppy i found on streets in matheran last week, he is about a month old and was very scared and under nourished when i saw him, i liked to call him "Milo"

i got milo with me to mumbai and took him to vet and right now taking care of him at my home. Milo is very playful and i love him but unforunately i will not be able to take care of him for long time, as all of us are working at my place and i guess Milo needs attention till he is couple of months old from now on. i am sending you pictures of milo, my idea was to take milo with me to save him and give him a new life, it will be really great for him to find a caring new home soon, i am not keen on sending him to dog shelter house or leave him on streets again, i will take care of him till i find somebody willing to adopt him.

Five Mumbai pups need homes

These five pups were taken away from their mum by a cruel building secretary and dumped on main Turner Road, Bandra. Some of the girls in our office managed to rescue them but they are in dire need of homes. They are currently in a foster home and their upkeep is costing Rs 650 per day.

Do pass on this message to interested persons who will:

1. Help the pups find a home
2. Be willing to sponsor part of the pups' upkeep till they find a home (if a tax benefit is required that can be organized as well through an NGO).

These are pictures of a Labrador (female) and a Pom (male) that have been abandoned by their families and are now with us. They desperately need homes.

The female Lab is a very pleasant natured (with a very small healing wound on her back). She was carelessly left on the road by her guardian.

The pom is traumatized after having to leave his home as a new baby had arrived in the family. Very handsome with a lovely coat but still very sad.
