At one local church, Joe was in charge of taking up the offerings. One Sunday after the services, the priest counted the cash and found it was smaller than anticipated. So he questioned Joe. He told him that it did not seem enough for the size of the congregation. Joe said that he did not take any of the offering. The priest again questioned him and again he said that he did not take any of the offering.
So the priest said "get in the confessional" which Joe did.
Then the priest asked him did you take any of the offering and this time
he said "I can't hear you".
Again the priest asked "Joe did you take any of the offering?"
Again Joe answered "I can't hear you".
This time the priest yelled "JOE DID YOU TAKE ANY OF THE OFFERING"
Again Joe answered "I can't hear you".
By this time the priest was getting a little angry so he came out of the confessional and saId "Joe trade places with me and you can ask me a question."
So they traded places and Joe asked " I hear that you and my wife are having an affair, is that true??
To which the priest answered "By Golly you can't hear in here".

This week, I visited Recognize Anyone. The site is a social experiment to see how small the world really is. I love it. The site simply shows a random photo from a random place on a random day.

I think it would be cool if they posted more photos from random people from random places around the world. Of course I don’t Recognize Anyone in that photo, but then again the odds that I would are very slim. i think the word "super" has an unmistakebly indian quality anout it. we indians love to pepper our conversations with laudatory exaggerations, and super is the loudest of all laudatory exaggerations. it can be used as a noun, adverb,adjective, verb, anything. only in india can we see superfast express trains,supergood films, superosuper(its a tamil word), supersubburayan(a stunt man) and ofcourse, superstars.(if anyone brings up superman and superdog, i'll get superpissed).

I like it...not just because it is a zimbabwean proverb, but also because it is aligned with one of my other little clinton-isms as my family called them 'fruit of the clouds' - that's my term for umoya, amanzi, panee, aqua, agua, eau, wasser, 水, H2O, water!

When in the company of spanish speakers (including filipino) I will often refer to it as agua pura, from the mexican potable water campaign in the mid 1970's
