I sit down to write and what happens, something totally different pours of out my fingers! What makes it even worse is I have several new ideas floating around in my fingers that are also trying to make their way onto paper!

But I have now decided, finally, what is going to happen and I am sticking with it, that's my new years resolution. So it will be finished and finished very soon.

One other thing, I am determined to do is write more on my blog. So be prepared for more of my ramblings. Don't say I didn't warn you!!

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1158788886763542402006-09-20T22:30:00.000+01:002006-09-20T22:48:06.916+01:00Summer's back!Isn't it gorgeous? The weather I mean, if it wasn't for the nights drawing in you'd think it was still high summer. I love this weather, it's a real pleasure to walk to work.

Yes I did say walk! I'm lucky it's only a couple of miles from home to the office, so weather permitting I walk. Walking is the best way to start the day. What could be nicer than walking across a footpath through the early morning dew watching the sun rise? Okay, so your feet get wet, but it's peaceful and quiet, the air is clear and you notice things you never see out of the car window.

This year for instance, there are tons, and I do mean tons, of sloes. Big juicy black fruit just waiting to be smothered in gin with a little bit of sugar. Home made Sloe Gin, definitely worth waiting for. I unearthed some last year that was 20 years old, don't quite know how it managed to last so long, but boy does it taste good! See if I drove to work every day, I'd never notice those fat old sloes, just sitting there waiting to be picked would I?

The only down side of walking to work, is well, I'm walking to work. I mean work's fine, I guess, and the money comes in handy, but work, well it really interferes with your life doesn't it?

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1157299834264203692006-09-03T16:54:00.000+01:002006-09-03T17:10:34.493+01:00What happened to summer?I've not written anything here for ages. I've no excuse, not a single solitary one! I've been like a lazy cat soaking up all the glorious summer weather and now it's gone! Where, why and when is it coming back is what I want to know? Do I have to wait till next year?

The epic is coming along nicely, it even has a title, how about that? It's now in the final stages after several changes of mind and evenings when it's just been soooooo gorgeous there was no way I wanted to sit at a keyboard after pounding away in the office (an unairconditioned one at that I might add!) all day.

Today was supposed to be an ironing, visiting, hiking & writing day, well I did the ironing and visiting bit and was all set for a hike and some writing. What happened, rain, not just once, but several times so that was the end of the hiking. As for the writing, well at least that's still a possibility. Although as both West Wing and Midsomer Murders are on later, how much will actually get done is anyone's guess.

Still, like Dorothy said, tomorrow's another day

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1151880058892070092006-07-02T23:26:00.000+01:002006-07-02T23:40:58.903+01:00ThinkingThe book seems to have ground to a halt, I know what, why and how and have actually written it several times. However, none of them feel right and I just can't put my finger on the reason why, which is so frustrating!

I have a few ideas buzzing around in my head that also want to get out and be put on paper, but I need to finish this one first. I really don't want to give in to the other ideas, as I just know if I do that I'll still be in this position in 6 months time!

Mike is working tomorrow night, so once I get back from work, the gym (yuk! but it's good for me (I think!)) and Sainsburys I will take my laptop and a glass of wine into the conservatory and sort it out!

Fighting talk, wonder who'll win?

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1151268861214203332006-06-25T21:50:00.000+01:002006-06-25T21:55:59.026+01:00Found Brain!Well I'm pleased to say I've found my brain, it hadn't gone far and was lurking in a corner all the time.

Now it's awoken again, my fingers are itching to get busy, so hopefully this time I'll get significantly more done. I know what's going to happen, but things keep writing themselves in (you know how that happens!) and then I have to re-arrange an earlier bit to make it work. Then I put it to sleep, wake up the next morning and want to change it.

Hmm, memo to fingers, edit when finished not while ongoing!!!

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1151006147458508322006-06-22T20:44:00.000+01:002006-06-22T20:55:47.470+01:00Lost brain!Has anyone seen my brain? I know I had it a couple of weeks ago, really I did! It's quite a cute little brain, very inquisitive, been around for a while, very well used, likes travelling and visiting new places and is always looking out for new story ideas.

I wonder if this soggy, grey, cold weather has sent it into hiding? Could be I guess, it's certainly making me long for sunnier climates! Was it only a couple of weeks ago I was extolling the virtues of a Hockings on a hot sunny Devon
beach.

Ah well, maybe if I feed it a nice glass of chilled wine it'll come out of hiding. Or perhaps in this weather it should be hot chocolate!

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1150058473959189992006-06-11T21:21:00.000+01:002006-06-11T21:41:14.423+01:00Sun, Sea, Sand & Hockings!I just got back from a glorious weekend in Devon. The dreaded paying work is calling tomorrow or else why would I leave the sun, sea, sand and Hockings behind. Hmm, you've never heard of Hockings? Honey you've never lived!

Hockings is to die for! It's the most truly delicious, absolutely scrumptious Devon clotted cream ice cream. The best way to eat it is as a 99 surrounded by a dollop of clotted cream (obviously it's all fat free - she lied!) sitting watching the waves or strolling through them. What more could a person want on a hot, sunny afternoon?

The writing? oh well I took the laptop......... but hey you wouldn't want me to get sand in it now would you?

Actually, I think I'll just check my lottery ticket who knows, maybe I don't have to go back to work tomorrow!

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1149629821219429172006-06-06T22:29:00.000+01:002006-06-06T22:37:01.230+01:00Bad Back!Have you ever noticed how it's always the smallest thing that does the most damage? Mike was cutting the hedge last week, twisted slightly round a rose bush and put his back out. Oh joy! It's slowly getting better, but because of his job the doctor has put him off work for a couple of weeks. I think he's going to spend that time working on his suntan, assuming this fantastic weather stays with us.

I've not done any writing, time is just disappearing at the moment, besides which I can't see my laptop in the garden! OK, so I know it's not a valid excuse, but......

Carole K

PS: At least the hedge looks good!

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1148898318360630692006-05-29T11:07:00.000+01:002006-05-29T11:25:18.370+01:00What a weekend! My god-daughter got married on Saturday, so we had to get all dressed up, (can't understand why my usual denim skirt and t-shirt were unacceptable?) flowing skirt suit for me and suit for Mike, didn't recognise us for a minute! She looked absolutely gorgeous, did the weather co-operate? Not likely. Does the weather not know it's supposed to be getting sunny and warm? As she arrived and left the church it drizzled, not that it dampened the celebrations or the sheer joy of the day. Luckily when we got to the reception, the clouds rolled away, the sky cleared and the sun came out, so as well as having a wonderful wedding day to remember they'll have some fabulous photographs as well.

Today, Monday, well this is a sort of catchup on all those jobs you put of until it gets to the point that you really have to do them. For instance, my curtains are now white not sort of greyish! I love the sunshine, but where does all the dust come from?

Ah well, speaking of dust, it's back to work tomorrow, so I'd better finish my dusting, weed the garden, clean the conservatory and then, finally I can do some more at my book.

Do you know, I'm sure I was born to have servants?

CaroleK

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24090422.post-1147877460102443562006-05-17T15:21:00.000+01:002006-05-17T15:51:00.136+01:00Never done this beforeAs I'm just back from holiday in gorgeous, sunny, hot Arizona, full of ideas to finish my book, not to mention lots of new ideas. One of which was that I'd finally start writing my first blog, so here it is.

Flying back into Manchester, was as usual depressing, because I have never yet arrived on a warmm sunny day, it's always raining. Before I leave Arizona, along with my clothes, I always pack a full case of hot sunshine and blue skies, but you know it's never there when I open my case in England, funny that!

So, what's happened to all my ideas, nothing, absolutely nothing. I came down with some sort of a virus last week which just won't go away. Still the antibiotics from the Doc finally seem to be kicking in a little, the cough is getting slightly better, instead of sounding like I smoke (I don't smoke!) 90 a day, I now just sound as though I smoke about 30 a day, I guess that's an improvement of sorts! Looks like I'll have to pay the Doc another visit.

I still haven't submitted my book yet, mainly because I can't get the submission letter right, which is driving me slightly round the bend.

That's it for my first blog, I'm off to get a coffee, switch the laptop on and see what comes out of my fingers.

Carole

Carolehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07680293147303601292noreply@blogger.com0
