I had saved it on a website I've built years ago and I JUST retrieved it from there. Here, I'm gonna share it with ya.. The following text in black are all extracted from a long forgotten source.

A man in Grand Rapids, Michigan incredibly took out a US$7,000 full page ad in the paper to present the HOW COULD YOU? By Jim Willis, 2001

When I was a puppy, I entertained you with my antics and made you laugh. You called me your child, and despite a number of chewed shoes and a couple of murdered throw pillows, I became your best friend.

Whenever I was "bad," you'd shake your finger at me and ask "How could you?" -- but then you'd relent and roll me over for a bellyrub.

My housebreaking took a little longer than expected, because you were terribly busy, but we worked on that together. I remember those nights of nuzzling you in bed and listening to your confidences and secret dreams, and I believed that life could not be any more perfect. We went for long walks and runs in the park, car rides, stops for ice cream (I only got the cone because "ice cream is bad for dogs" you said), and I took long naps in the sun waiting for you to come home at the end of the day.

Gradually, you began spending more time at work and on your career, and more time searching for a human mate. I waited for you patiently, comforted you through heartbreaks and disappointments, never chided you about bad decisions, and romped with glee at your homecomings, and when you fell in love.

She, now your wife, is not a "dog person" -- still I welcomed her into our home, tried to show her affection, and obeyed her. I was happy because you were happy. Then the human babies came along and I shared your excitement.

I was fascinated by their pinkness, how they smelled, and I wanted to mother them, too. Only she and you worried that I might hurt them, and I spent most of my time banished to another room, or to a dog crate.

Oh, how I wanted to love them, but I became a "prisonor of love."

As they began to grow, I became their friend. They clung to my fur and pulled themselves up on wobbly legs, poked fingers in my eyes, investigated my ears, and gave me kisses on my nose. I loved everything about them and their touch -- because your touch was now so infrequent -- and I would've defended them with my life if need be. I would sneak into their beds and listen to their worries and secret dreams, and together we waited for the sound of your car in the driveway.

There had been a time, when others asked you if you had a dog, that you produced a photo of me from your wallet and told them stories about me.

These past few years, you just answered "yes" and changed the subject. I had gone from being "your dog" to "just a dog," and you resented every expenditure on my behalf.

Now, you have a new career opportunity in another city, and you and they will be moving to an apartment that does not allow pets. You've made the right decision for your "family," but there was a time when I was your only family.

I was excited about the car ride until we arrived at the animal shelter. It smelled of dogs and cats, of fear, of hopelessness. You filled out the paperwork and said "I know you will find a good home for her." They shrugged and gave you a pained look. They understand the realities facing a middle-aged dog, even one with "papers." You had to pry your son's fingers loose from my collar as he screamed "No, Daddy! Please don't let them take my dog!" And I worried for him, and what lessons you had just taught him about friendship and loyalty, about love and responsibility, and about respect for all life.

You gave me a good-bye pat on the head, avoided my eyes, and politely refused to take my collar and leash with you. You had a deadline to meet and now I have one, too. After you left, the two nice ladies said you probably knew about your upcoming move months ago and made no attempt to find me another good home. They shook their heads and asked "How could you?"

They are as attentive to us here in the shelter as their busy schedules allow. They feed us, of course, but I lost my appetite days ago. At first, whenever anyone passed my pen, I rushed to the front, hoping it was you that you had changed your mind -- that this was all a bad dream... or I hoped it would at least be someone who cared, anyone who might save me.

When I realized I could not compete with the frolicking for attention of happy puppies, oblivious to their own fate, I retreated to a far corner and waited. I heard her footsteps as she came for me at the end of the day, and I padded along the aisle after her to a separate room.

A blissfully quiet room. She placed me on the table and rubbed my ears, and told me not to worry. My heart pounded in anticipation of what was to come, but there was also a sense of relief. The prisoner of love had run out of days.

As is my nature, I was more concerned about her. The burden which bears weighs heavily on her, and I know that, the same way I knew your every mood.

She gently placed a tourniquet around my foreleg as a tear ran down her cheek. I licked her hand in the same way I used to comfort you so many years ago. She expertly slid the hypodermic needle into my vein. As I felt the sting and the cool liquid coursing through my body, I lay down sleepily, looked into her kind eyes and murmured "How could you?"

Perhaps because she understood my dogspeak, she said "I'm so sorry." She hugged me, and hurriedly explained it was her job to make sure I went to a better place, where I wouldn't be ignored or abused or abandoned, or have to fend for myself -- a place of love and light so very different from this earthly place.

And with my last bit of energy, I tried to convey to her with a thump of my tail that my "How could you?" was not directed at her. It was directed at you, My Beloved Master, I was thinking of you. I will think of you and wait for you forever. May everyone in your life continue to show you so much loyalty.

______________________________________________

A Note from the Author:

If "How Could You?" brought tears to your eyes as you read it, as it did to mine as I wrote it, it is because it is the composite story of the millions of formerly "owned" pets who die each year in American & Canadian animal shelters.

Anyone is welcome to distribute the essay for a noncommercial purpose, as long as it is properly attributed with the copyright notice.

Please use it to help educate, on your websites, in newsletters, on animal shelter and vet office bulletin boards.

Tell the public that the decision to add a pet to the family is an important one for life, that animals deserve our love and sensible care, that finding another appropriate home for your animal is your responsibility. Any local humane society or animal welfare league can offer you good advice, and that all life is precious.

Please do your part to stop the killing, and encourage all spay & neuter campaigns in order to prevent unwanted animals.

- Jim Willis
Genevieve
your harmless friendnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24029880.post-23960782462178767832009-07-04T18:04:00.000+08:002009-07-05T01:47:26.069+08:00What's with these 4 colours?

AVG 1st used black,

Then they changed it into blue..
It's red, green. yellow. blue clockwise. She came over and it's really nice to catch up! We seem to have very different personalities but somehow, a small part of us cliqued pretty well. She's the very few who accepted me as a friend for who I really am, the few who saw not only the bad, but also the praiseworthy side of me... hahahaha, though the praiseworthy part may be quite a challenge to be identified. She knows for the wicked things I've done, there's a morally upright reason behind them. Well morally upright in my own perception that is. I think I can be quite twisted in some ways but hey, I don't care, I love the way I am! HAH! I'm sure some of you agree that I'm wicked in a likable manner *LOL*

Next, see how sweet my parents and little brother can be? Ferrero for breakfast, love it!! I'm gonna buy myself more of this so I can begin everyday with it! Looooove chocolate.. good ones.

Oh wait back to topic, my day went really well with Sihui today but wonder why I call it "not so much of a bad" one? Cos you know, ah lians n bengs disgust me, literally. Really man they are disgusting I swear. Like.. ewwwww? Yes that's the way I feel when I see them. It gets worse when I HEAR them, I may even lose my appetite. How I wish they can somehow become slightly more intelligent, and at least have the ability to speak a non-annoying language that people can understand. Not necessarily perfect English or Mandarin (cos that's really not easy), but at least make it less irritating to, and more easily understood by the general population.

I've been on a mood of dolling up lately. Quite fun to do it once in a while and take some good pictures of yourself. This is so that it can serve as a consolation by the time you turn old and wrinkled. Ha, seriously!

Cos 40 years later, this is what I'm gonna say,

"This is granny when I was 22!"

Genevieve
your harmless friendnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24029880.post-66749506966635194802009-06-21T23:14:00.011+08:002009-06-22T13:42:02.604+08:00Looooong LashesMy eyelashes are slightly longer and thicker than the average Singaporeans', however, they are what people usually call 'stubborn' lashes. I''ve been using the curler many people and makeup artists recommend - Shu Uemura's Eyelash Curler. But well, my case.. is kinda tricky.. No matter how I curl them, they fall back to the original position, in matter of minutes, or a couple of hours (when I'm lucky). Just not blessed with very curled lashes.

Yesterday, I went out with my natural lashes prettily curled THE WHOLE DAY, for the 1st time in my life!

All thanks to...

It's white in colour by the way. You can't just use this alone..

Step 1: Get a good lash curler that will give you really pretty and natural-looking curls.
Step 2: Apply MM Lash Bone to your pretty curls.
Step 3: Get a good Mascara and apply over it!

The best thing about my combination is that though it's a "double-layer" application, my lashes do not look 'heavy', and do not clump together like how Maybeline's mascara did no justice to me. Seeing is believing, take a look at the result!

No false lashes, no lash extensions, just real eyelashes with Majolica Majorca Lash Bone + Dejavu Fiberwig Mascara!

But I gotta warn you, MM Lash Bone is kinda harder to remove as compared to Dejavu Mascara.
Genevieve
your harmless friendnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24029880.post-30116292695116815942009-06-18T11:52:00.007+08:002009-06-19T03:50:27.037+08:00'O' and 'A' level students alert!!Tutor no.1

Science tuition by MOE Scholarship Holder at the East Side of Singapore. Chemistry and Physics only. $40-$60/hr depending on levels. But I don't have the time for it now and I have no idea where all the CDs are.. How I wish they can have The Sims application on facebook! They should right? It'll even be better than Pets Society.

Was talking to hubby about this just now and I told him how I played the game when I was in secondary school.

I discovered on accident that my characters can actually die. And after they do, an urn or a tombstone will appear. That sparked my interest to build a haunted house in that neighbourhood. So I had a few methods to do it, and all methods work towards 1 goal; to collect tombstones and urns in the most convenient way possible. (Well I'll need many these props to stay with my theme won't I?

Set them on fire.
The 1st character died through an accident that happened in the kitchen. But of course I restarted the game so I'll be brought back to where the game was last saved. Anyway, I tried getting them to cook again and realised it's taking too much of my time before they are dead, and they might not necessarily die cos they fire could die off or be put out by their family members (I think). So I improvised my plan. I built a very small house, a 2-by-2-tile house in the yard and place a stove inside. Then I get my character to go inside and cook. Afterwards, I removed the door *cackle*. To save time, I clicked on the fast forward mode so they can die faster. Got greedy afterwards, I let the entire family in and burn them in one shot. I got my urns and tombstones fast!!

Drown them.
I built a pool, unlike the room in the yard, this pool is a rather big one. I let the entire family plunge into a pool without ladder for them to get out. Again, to save time, I fast forwarded the motion and they all drowned. The props I needed will appear beside the pool.

My idea of the haunted house is one with countless tombstones and urns all over.. but on another occasion, when another family of victims moved into my "slaughter house", there were translucent images of the previous few families haunting the house!! I was so amazed that even this was programmed in The Sims!! I forgot the reactions of the then alived characters.. I suppose they were pretty frightened and the emotion factor experienced a slight decrease. It didn't bother me anyway, cos they are still gonna die like how the others did. LOL. Sounds pretty sick huh.. but come on, it's all in the name of FUN and curiousity. *hahaha*

Hubby finds it amusing how so many weird ideas can be produced in my small head. I just went googling for it and I chanced upon an interesting site, http://games.sharing-info.com/2008/06/25/nine-way-to-make-your-sims-die/ . Both Dane (brown) and Kiwi (black) are males thus, can't get along really well with Caesar.. especially Dane, who is the Alpha dog among the two. Kiwi's very docile!! This was a lil different from usual, we have some primary school kids joining us! They are my cute neighbours, and yes, I have to keep a look out especially on the youngest one, who can't really swim. Their maid followed as well..

I can't post up those pics cos not everyone's comfortable with the photos taken, not many were taken anyway, and at least 1 person will look damn unglam in each pic.

Anyway, I had a bimbo moment.. forgot to apply sunblock to my neck and back of shoulders... I was screaming when I looked into the mirror when I got home. It's so DAMN FUGLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Saw this hot babe in a polyclinic earlier. She has huge "assets" and she wore a very tight and thin white spaghetti top.. and man.. she's a bouncer, literally. Everyone couldn't help but got their attention attracted to her when she sashayed all around the clinic. Best thing is, her spaghetti straps kept falling off and this revealed her sexy bare shoulders so many times!! Not sure if it's intentionate though, but she could even walk around with the straps hanging off-shoulder, only to pull it up when she found a new seat. I was hoping the whole top slides down to her waist level though.. What a lucky day at the clinic

Yes there are pictures~~

Hot right? There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

Don't cry and sob when you think of your departured companion, smile when you think of them, when you recollect all that wonderful and unforgetable memories. Caesar found her! Didn't expect that really.

Just before midnight, Hubby and I brought Caesar down to look for that bimbo girl. I was calling out for Latte and Caesar picked up speed out of a sudden, running towards the basketball court, and he seemed really alert! I could tell that he had gotten clues of Latte's whereabouts though he would usually pick up speed when he's about to attack another dog.. I think I know Caesar too well.. really.

Hubby and I just jogged and followed behind. Then we heard Latte's faint mews! At the same time, Caesar was in front of a bush. He popped his head in, turned around, and walked away to resume his 'duties' of marking territories. There, Latte's found! She's been hiding in that bush!!!

You know, I would have never have a chance to see so much of Caesar's capabilities without the presence of Latte; the way he defends Latte from other cats and dogs, the way he locates her EXACT whereabouts, the way he tries to walk carefully to prevent stepping onto the playful kitten whose running around him. There's so much to learn about him everyday..

I'm pretty sure with his extraordinary personality, Caesar makes one of the most unique canine companion anyone would ever come across. The previous 'test' I left on my blog shows that quite a handful of you readers (I have no idea who most of you are so I'm not exactly pointing fingers) are not really "internet-literate".. you are easily convinced and therefore easily deceived.. I'll say good luck for that.

Anyway, most people who fall victims to these scams are usually people who seem to be easily blinded by greed .. in my opinion that is. It's been quite awhile since Rubayn, Sihui and I met up with our furry best friends. This time, Rubayn's girlfriend and Wilson were there too!

Weather was perfect for us, cloudy and windy. I was too busy taking care of Caesar I didn't take any photos with my camera. Photos are with Sihui and Wilson! Be paitient! They should be sending them to me real soon!

That's my lil baby giant..

Nope he's not learning to swim, he's learning to relax in the water. He's been paddling non-stop for minutes and I wanted him to enjoy and relax!! Caesar's so cute isn't he?

I'm having muscleaches all over cos of the pulling of Caesar's leash, plus the fact that I still had to work when we reach home; bathe and dry him. I finished all work only at 7pm and woke up this morning with a headache... not sure what the cause is.

Update!!

Moo Moo!! a.k.a Puppy

Ashley tired after so much activity..

I wonder what they were looking at..

Cute Boxer who's obsessed with his pink frisbee.

Mr More-Handsome-than-You

awwwww....

Moo Moo and her favourite boyfriend.

Love this pic.

Pretty, pretty Ashley.

This is Simba, our neighbour.

Caesar loves him, but loves to scold him too.

Bathing Baby

Genevieve
your harmless friendnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24029880.post-36892549107776682912009-05-06T01:22:00.008+08:002009-05-11T22:35:35.545+08:00My cute familyOne thing among my siblings and me, we take no offence towards mean criticisms from each other. The meaner the insult, the funnier it gets! It's just creativity. HAHA.

There was once, my brother criticised about my sister's hair and she went, "Better than you, you have pubic hair growing all over your scalp!" (My brother has curly hair.) LOL. I still find our reactions upon hearing that very funny.

"Vieve's a mutant, her 'talent' is stupidity and she's displaying it now."

My lil brother has a lot of nicknames, and for a fact that he's born in the year of pigs... hehehehehehehehehehehehehehe....

Genew** will always drink milk straight from the carton if he is gonna finish all at a go. But one night he realised he couldn't finish it so he went,

"二姐, don't drink from this carton, I'm putting it back to the refrigerator."

"yeeeeee, nonono, finish it up please.. Do you always do that? Are you sure I haven't drank any ilk from the cartons you've drank this way???? ... ... or you can use those stickers I used to paste on Caesar's meat to indicate that you have drank it before."

Genes***, "Just write 'Bio Hazard' and draw the sign on it OR write 'contaminated' *laughing out loud*"

Quite a funny moment, especially from all of our reactions.

P.S Who plays Pet Society? I'm looking for more neighbours in my 'neighbourhood'!!

P.S.S Pearl went for a swim in our swimming pool yesterday. The guard house received complaints and they keppt her at the guard house till the owners came back. I went to visit her yesterday, she really looked a lot happier! She gives out that pitiful look usually but yesterday, she just looked at Caesar and me with that doggie smile across her pretty face. I don't understand why people have to COMPLAIN rather than to just inform the security guards what's happening. It's not a big deal, not as if our swimming pool is really THAT clean.. it's just a dip in exchange for Pearl's priceless satisfaction, it's worth it, go Pearl!! Speaking of that, I was wondering if it's possible for the dog owners to pay to build a doggie swimming pool somewhere in our compound...

P.S.S (5/5/09) I'm at Episode 5 of 少林僧兵 on MIO TV! I think the more I see 月空, the more cute he become!!!

My baby boy ^^

Genevieve
your harmless friendnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24029880.post-12397494246389777262009-05-04T15:06:00.002+08:002009-05-04T17:31:55.299+08:00Twenty-Second on 29.04.09Quite a number didn't turn up last minute, and BBQ was only decided a day before. I'm so fortunate to have such nice hubby, family and friends to help me keep things going! Charcoal, food, drinks, utensils, CAKES!!

Honestly, I didn't really know what was happening. Hubby was the one constantly asking me "How many are coming? Text them to reconfirm? Anyone bringing ice? We lack that." Sihui and Rubayn were the ones that bought all the essentials BBQ. I was just sure that all of Caesar's required bellongings were brought, er.. well, not all, I forgot to bring his multi-vitamin and joints supplements.

Well erm, I DID have a white dress but I really could stand the level of humidity and heat, so I decided to stick to Tees and shorts..

It's not the usual "happening" kind of parties you guys would normally have. Mine went without music and liquor! It's just a very very very simple gathering, my intention was to let my friends get to know each other. Joan sang a short verse of an English song after lots of persuasion, and everyone there were overwhelmed with amazement! SHE HAS SUCH A GREAT VOICE! I swear that in my opinion, she definitely has what it takes to win the Singapore Idol, and THAT is the voice that we will want Singapore to be represented with! But... she's decided not to join cos of school commitments, shall wait for another season then..

That's Joan, singing..

I didn't want any presents cos I don't wanna receive things that will end up collecting dust. I can afford to buy lil items I usually want and for those that I can't afford? Forget it, I'm not expecting my friends to spend that amount of money for me LOL!! Some people are smart, they gave me ang paos! HAHHA, the most practical gift of all. Some surprised me by giving something I've always wanted, but couldn't find. I wonder how long it took them to find that gift. W volunteered to contribute by taking photos of us! This explains where I've gotten these nice photos. Z and N came after everyone left and they sang me a beautiful birthday song.. very sweet of them =) There are still a number of other sweeties who contributed to the fun and joy on the very important day but I guess you've roughly gotten the idea!

Without her, life would probably bore Caesar and me out.

There's Ling too, forgot to snap a pic with her... AND ALSO, hubby and I were both so busy we forgot to take a picture together!! =(

Sweet picture right? They compromised towards my unfortunate height immediately upon request! HAHHA

I was really touched these people came cos I know they made an effort to come even when they must be exhausted from school and work! Some knocked off only at 7pm or 8pm, some had lessons till 9pm!

Caesar wanted to lie down on the floor but withdrew from that idea after everyone started singing the birthday song! He seemed to be enjoying all that attention.. SO CUUUTE!! I think this candid shot is priceless! We didn't want too many candles on the cakes thus decided that only 2 large and small ones should appear. Some suggested 1 large and small on each, but that'll look like 2 cakes meant for the eleven-yr-old!

Feeling estatic after stabbing Mr. Garfield with a plastic knife.

You know, I was still trying to figure out what was the best way to deface such a cute-looking cake Val bought.

P.S Friends, more photos on my facebook account!!!
Genevieve
your harmless friendnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24029880.post-24507604159483637232009-04-26T22:46:00.005+08:002009-04-27T13:55:52.284+08:00I went shopping..Bought air-fresheners, and other stuff for my room and toilet. I realised it's not working cos my lazy maid do not come in to tidy very often. She has a lot of time to watch TV and chat on the phone. There was once my clothes seemed to have to be dried for more than 72 hours, she just hung them there and didn't bring it back home to fold them. My parents do not really tell her off too.. it was when my mum started helping me bring in my laundry that she felt embarrassed.

I used to thank her when she tidied my room. But now, I really don't think she deserved to be thanked cos she doesn't even come into my room to mop or sweep regularly! And yesssssss, she doesn't even make my bed.

Anyway! The toilet cleaner I bought was fantastic! The stains were removed after just 1 application, it's almost like magic to me!! LOL. And I mopped my floor with the floor cleaner too! It's another magic, the floor feels SO CLEAN now!

My magical items..

I don't understand, these aren't tough jobs, and my maid isn't doing it well. My dad will always ask me to try do it on my own if I think she's not doing well enough (well actually it's more like she's NOT doing it at all)... but that's within her job scope isn't it? That's her profession, she specialises in it, she ought to be more professional.. right? How many maids get to sleep in air-con rooms, talk on the phone, watch TV , chat with other maids, go shopping almost everyday? Not forgetting she comes to my room only once in a few months???

I think the chlorine smell from bleach is many me feel rather funny now. Just uncomfortable. Am I poisoned from excessive inhalation?

Sees mum and dad, "You guys must be so proud of me now."

"Why?"

"I'm cleaning my bathroom and toilet!!"

*silence*

"你们不觉得我很厉害吗?"

Sarcastically, "觉得。。很了不起。。"

My parents are cute, I know they feel very happy about it. I mean how can they not? I'm intrinsically motivated to clean it okay.

Btw, there something reeeeeaaaaaaally fantastic that I wanna introduce you guys to...

The fragrance of the chocolate is SOOOOOOO mouthwatering the moment you unwrap and sniff at it. Every bite is just extremely agreeable in taste and in fragrance and you can't stop crunching it especially when every crunch brings out the aroma of choc..hmmm.. scrumptious would be close to describe it. But not exactly right, you gotta taste it for yourself. Beyond heavenly~~ I finished the box within 10 minutes.
Genevieve
your harmless friendnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24029880.post-80589935036830800622009-04-26T00:52:00.008+08:002009-04-26T02:12:52.860+08:00Horrible Weather..This is the summer of summer, the summer season of our Sunny Island. I HATE THIS WEATHER. The heat is really unbearable, I sulk and frown and feel extremely frustrated when I stepped out of house at about 3pm, AND I only felt relieved when I entered the cab. That short 5-minute trip from my house to the cab was almost a torment, same for the trip from heartland mall to hubby's place.

Had lunch at Yoshinoya.. air-conditioner is officially the greatest invention.

Poor Caesar, I have to shorten our walks cos the temperature at night is damn warm too!! How can Caesar tolerate it when I can't? We've been spending lots of time in our room. I guess I don't mind bringing him to swim more regularly cos he needs to work out and not get heat exhaustion. That will mean I'm gonna spare time blow-drying my boy more regularly now.

Lovin' my Aero tees..

I had to have my hair tied up and have my fringe clipped up cos of this STUPID, WARM, AND HUMID weather. Imagine how it'll feel when your fringe sticks to your forehead cos of sweat. Gross..

P.S The shadow cast on you face by the spectacles makes unsightly dark eyerings look less hideous.
Genevieve
your harmless friendnoreply@blogger.com2
