This weeks Thrifty Thursday hint is the library. Not only by taking your children to the library is a fun time, but by borrowing books from the library instead of buying them you are saving a lot of money. Not only do most library loan out books, but many also have a variety of children's movies too. My kids could spend hours roaming around the library checking out books and movies. Taking your children to the library is a great way to get them interested in reading and it's free! Now if the library only loaned out Vegas vacations that would rock!

Wednesdays - Spiderdogs

When having a campfire there are two things you must do, one is making Smores, the other is making spiderdogs. My kids actually like the spiderdogs more then the Smores. Me, well I like both of them. I actually think I ate so many Smores and spiderdogs while camping that I need to get some avesil but who can blame me, Smores and spiderdogs are so good!

I am so late getting this posted, but I've had so many kids here at my house lately that my head has been spinning! I've haven't had a day off from other peoples children in about 10 days and most of the time it's been between 5 and 8 kids have been here. I was supposed to have today off, that's right supposed to, but alas no...I have my sisters 3 kids here now. I wonder if there is a union for babysitters?

Your Baby Can Read

I recently had the opportunity to try the wonderful children's learning program Your Baby Can Read. This is basically a learning system that helps children from infant to toddlers learn and recognize both spoken and written words.

I tried Your Baby Can Read with both my 4 year old son and with my 2 year old nephew and I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly they both starting to learn to recognize the words. I realize that sure they can't read the word, but they recognize it and know what the word is and that is the first step in the learning process of reading. They really enjoyed the flash cards and it was like a game to them, not work. They enjoyed learning using this program and isn't that the best way to learn, by having fun doing it.

Titzer, Ph.D. and is aimed to help children learn and recognize words in the first five years of their life while their brain is growing at it's fastest rate. I was in the kitchen cooking and I heard Aidan and J.T. laughing their heads off in the playroom. I went in to see what was so funny and this is what I saw....J.T. pulling Aidan in his pull along suitcase like it was a toy wagon. Well, I have to admit they sure can use their imagination, but they also trashed the playroom while doing it.

This is a guest we had at the campsite. Me and my kids were sitting reading and all of a sudden we look up and see this little guy about 5 feet from us stealing food from the garbage bag. Later on he came back in the night and stole a jug of juice that was left outside by mistake.

Now that summer vacation is here kids are constantly getting bored and wanting to be entertained. The cost of entertaining kids can really add up. There are lots of things you can do to entertain your kids that are free.
- Check out your local library for programs
- Many community centers have free kids programs
- Arrange play dates for your kids with other moms
- Take the kids on a nature walk
- Go to the park or the beach
- Set up an outside movie night
- Go on a picnic
These are just a few things you can do to help keep your kids entertained this summer without spending a fortune. If you have any ideas on how to entertain your kids without costing a lot that you want to share leave a comment telling what it is.

Raining And Muggy

Well it's Canada Day and there is all kinds of things going on, but it's raining out. It kinda puts a damper on the festivities. Even though it's raining out it's still really muggy outside so the kids are sweating. We've been basically eating cold treats all day. I'm seriously going to have to buy diet pills after today will all the ice cream I've been eating today. Hopefully it will clear up enough so that the kids can hop in the pool, heck it's so muggy I might even hop in the pool too!

We're Back

We're finally back from camping. It was a fun trip, but now the real work begins. I have so much camping stuff to unpack from it feel like I'm unpacking moving boxes instead of camping supplies. I also have about 6 loads of laundry to do. Why is coming home from a vacation a lot of work? After I'm all done this stuff from coming home from vacation I think I'll need another one. I took lots of pictures that I'll post this week including a special visitor we had at our campsite, but you'll have to wait from Camera Critters to see that one.

Gone Camping

I finally found out the date for my daughters Confirmation. She's been going to Confirmation classes for the past three years and is going to be getting confirmed at the end of the summer.
