How do you feel?

It’s just like the moment when your husband (boyfriend at that time) first told you that he love you but somehow, it’s a little different.

Instead of a smile, I shed a tear, although both moments were equally memorable, equally touching, equally sweet, but somehow, being loved as a mother is different.

The story begins ……

I was down with a sore throat and a high fever. Usually I would wake up early to get the children ready for school and to send them to school. So, for several days, I told my maid to see to the children and my husband to send the kids to school. The two little ones were very cooperative and didn’t make a fuss out of it.

Studying in the afternoon session, usually, I had to tell Karl what to do to get himself ready for school as he never would remember or should I say he was never mindful. For those several days that I lied on bed, he did everything himself, without having me to nag or remind.

That made me very happy but that was not all.

One night, when my fever shot up to 39.7 degree, I took out a cold pack and put it on my forehead. Karl came into the room to check on me. He touched the cold pack. It was not cold anymore. He took it, put it back into the freezer, took another one out and put it on my head again.

That’s when I shed a tear. Never had I expected such act. All I asked was that they behave themselves so that I need not have to worry about them. Karl did something beyond that. He took care of me! Thank you so much, darling Karl!

Love will never fail. Love your children and let them love you in return!

We Were Both In Tears

I sat him on my lap and read him this letter. He cried, I cried too.

Dearest Karl,

Do you know that mummy loves you very much?

You may think that I don’t love you when I refused to sleep with you every night. The other day when we went back to grandpa and grandma’s house, you told grandpa that you wanted him to sleep with you every night. Karl, the reason why mummy refuse is that mummy wants to train you to be more independent. You are now seven and you have grown to be a big boy. Many boys and girls younger than you are sleeping in their own rooms without daddy and mummy but you are still here, sleeping in our room. I don’t want to compare you with others. I let you sleep in our room but can you at least lie down yourself, without having mummy to lie down beside you? I know how you feel when you see mummy pats Nyn to sleep. Karl, she is still young and when you were three, I did the same thing to you too.

You may think that I don’t love you when I say “No”.Do you know that you will not be happy if you are too attached to your "wants"? Try to understand that mummy says “No” to things that are too dangerous or not good for you or to things that might hurt you.

You may think that I don’t love you when I told you that I won’t say a single word of reminder as to what you should do everyday. Mummy has grown very tired and frustrated repeating the words over and over again, only to get an “OK” with that tone which tells me that I talk too much. You are old enough to know what to do everyday. It’s a routine.

Sometimes when I am not calm enough, I would scold when you misbehave but when I am calm enough, I can be very gentle and patient. I’m just a human, Karl. I know you don’t like to see a fierce mummy. I don’t like it too. Can we just be loving and kind to everyone? I wish our home will be filled with love and peacefulness. Can we all try, Karl?

Mummy wants you to remember this, Karl:

Whatever daddy or mummy do, we do out of love. You may not like what we say, but can you at least be grateful that you have a father and mother whose intentions are good?

We love you, darling Karl. Be strong, be tough and be good, will you? Love your brother and sister and be grateful for what you have. We love you very much.

My New Hobby

It's SO difficult to get back into blogging and visiting of blogs after a break! Every time my heart tells me to sit in front of the computer to read your posts, my head tells me I have to spend more time with the children and focus more on their needs and off course on my work!

Well, let's just say I'll be slow in posting and reading your posts but whenever I can, I will visit you, ok? If you miss me, pop over to say hi.

Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A cell phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands free speaker function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen.

MAN: 'Hello'

WOMAN: 'Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?'

MAN: 'Yes'

WOMAN: 'I am at the mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It's only R1,000. Is it OK if I buy it?'

MAN: 'Sure, go ahead if you like it that much.'

WOMAN: 'I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the new 2007 models. I saw one I really liked.'

MAN: 'How much?'

WOMAN: 'R390,000'

MAN: 'OK, but for that price I want it with all the options.'

WOMAN: 'Great! Oh, and one more thing...the house I wanted last year is back on the market. They're asking R2,950,000' for it.

MAN: 'Well, then go ahead and give them an offer of R2,800,000. They will probably take it. If not, we can go the extra R150,000 if it's really a pretty good price.'

WOMAN: 'OK. I'll see you later! I love you so much!'

MAN: 'Bye! I love you, too.'

The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths agape.

He turns and asks: 'Anyone know who this phone belongs to?'

Living Without A Maid

Can I ever live without a maid? I got to know from a friend that it is very difficult to apply for a maid nowadays.

My maid would be returning home in September and what if I really can’t find a maid?

There are tones of work to be done in the house besides caring for the children. There is the laundry, the sweeping and mopping, the toilets, the dishes, the ironing, the cooking, the windows and cabinets, the bed sheets and the list can go on.

The sweeping and mopping can be replaced using a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Isn’t it easier to vacuum instead of to sweep and mop? My husband would gladly help if there is a Dyson vacuum cleaner! The only concern is what would happen if some parts fail or break? While browsing through the net, I found some Dyson spares and Polti spares and that had eased my mind as to where to purchase spares for a Dyson vacuum cleaner if I need them.

A washing machine and a dryer would solve my problem of laundry while food catering might be an alternative if I can’t find time to cook. The car, windows, cabinets, toilets and bed sheets would be a once a week or once a fortnight affair with the help of my children. That leaves dishes which can never be avoided.

Children would have to go for day care and I would have time to do my paper work. Oh, dear, will I be able to handle all these? I’m so used to having a maid! Let’s hope I can find a maid by September and if I really can’t, then I’ll have to learn some tactics from my friends who have no maids at home.

Our Holidays

We had many plans before the school holidays as to where to go on a vacation but eventually we had to cancel all plans and be contented with this (that's where we have gone during the holidays).

Initially, we planned to go to Singapore and I would have the chance to meet Ling, Constance, KM, Janice and all others in Singapore but it didn't work out the way we wanted when we failed to book the hotel room.

Then, we planned to go to Langkawi together with my brother in law and his family but they were too busy to travel and the plan was called off.

Gosh, I have been missing for almost two weeks!

Back am I to the blogsphere but have lost a little enthusiasm, a little drive, a little momentum and a little oomph.

Holidays! I love holidays as much as my children do!

For sixteen days,

Work is put aside,

My mind is full of children, activities, rest and fun

So, did it turn out well?

Oh yes!

We were away from home to several places (will blog about it later.)

I got back my SLEEP!

Loved and Lost or Never Love

Week 4’s Love Q:

Is it really better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?

This is a tough question to answer as I have never gone through this phase (visit me on 31 May 2008 and you will catch a glimpse of my love story). So, this answer will come mainly from my imagination and from what I think.

Let’s view this from two different perspectives:

One: You allow your heart to rule. You meet someone who is able to capture your heart and your head can’t work as well as you want it to be. You know that you would regret if you don’t have the chance to love. Even if you have loved and lost, it didn’t matter. When the relationship turns sour, life still goes on. Having said that, when your heart rules, usually it will be difficult to deal with a bad relationship. This is when the head should take control.

Two: You let your head rule. You meet the special someone who makes your heart beats fast but you know this relationship would never last. Your head tells you not to start and you listen. So, in this case the answer to the above question would be NO.

Hmmm….. what do you think?
