It was an honour to be commissioned to shoot Stacey & Gareth's wedding near London; the first of a triple header manic weekend.

Stacey & Gareth's home surroundings were very rustic.But I don't think Gordon & Delia the cats were overally thrilled by all the uproar in the house in the morning!Stacey just looked stunning thoughI particularly loved her necklace, my colour......Onto the wonderful surroundings of Woodlands Park, Gareth was waiting for his bride and they exchanged their vows as the sun shone.And afterwards the horse and carriage that brought Stacey to her man, took them both away for a short spin around the countryside before their couples session around the hotel grounds. Up in the hotel bridal suite, the sun was blazing....
And the newlyweds were hot................ for each other.
When I first viewed the venue, (having seen Stacey's veil at her "Breathless" session the month before!) I knew I was going to do this shot!
The hotel interior was stunning!
Before I shot off on a plane, I got to hear the first lot of speeches before the meal.

I hope you both had a great day; my second shooter for the day Helen said you were all having a ball that evening!

Phew, I survived!

Three weddings in three days and one of them in London! INSANE!

And now another long distance wedding in Arran coming up this weekend, and no time to blog this past weekend!

Matt & Kathy's "Back Again" session

It is always very nerve-racking to have other photographers contact you to take images of them, but this one turnedinto an exciting and fun job!

Kathy & Matt came to Scotland for their honeymoon after their NYC wedding. We made arrangements for them to bring their wedding gear with them, and thanks to the team at the Old Course Hotel in St Andrews, we had open access to some amazing spots around the hotel one Friday night.

Here are some of the results.

I hope these images bring back many amazing memories of your time in Scotland! My thanks to Matt for also helping me out as an assistant on two weddings recently; a working honeymoon!

And after today's meeting with Phyllis and Lisa at the Old Course, I am hoping that some of these images will be appearing in the new Wedding Brochure for THE 5 star hotel in St Andrews!!

Why?

Only the fact that I have THREE weddings to shoot this weekend, and one of them happens to be in the London suburbs!

So think of me as I die quietly in my bed on Monday, the answermachine will take your calls and if I am lucky, I might answer my emails from my bed via iPhone!

Steph & Stuart's wedding - St Salvatore's Chapel and the Golf Hotel, St Andrews

Somebody was looking down on Steph & Stuart this past weekend - the forecast was for continuing rain........ it didn't touch the glorious town of St Andrews giving Steph & Stuart the day of their dreams!

Granted, the build-up to the wedding was a bit stressful for the bride; one thing being her dog Murray decided to have a little swim in a burn and got swept away, and Steph jumped in after him! Luckily both were fine, if a little wet and soggy.....

And on the day the dogs nearly stole the show.... with custom designed dog coat kilts (and this blog is apparently to blame for that, as she saw a previous wedding had featured dogs in kilts!)

Steph was..............stunning, and just my kinda bride; cathedral length veil in the wind, and very relaxed in front of the camera!And her man was no bad either!Steph kept us all waiting, and arrived smiling, on her father's arm.Cute moments during the ceremony. I am a blubberer, I know that, I cry at anything these days but I was really worrying that my images were going to be in focus during this ceremony - why? The beautiful singing by Abigail & Nuala, the groom's cousins from the chapel balcony had me not being able to see anything through the tears; their wonderful would have moved everyone below.

And soon, it was time for the newlyweds to depart as husband and wife...ready to greet their guests in the Quadrangle. And some of the younger guests were definately stealing the show!
Soon it was time for piper John to take the guests to the hotel, while the couple stayed in the Quadrangle for the start of an amazing couples session. I was totally blessed to be given an hour to "play" with them, and the sun shone all the way through.

Soon it was time to move onto the Castle.

And it was definately all about Steph on the day! I had so many favourite shots on the day; the one above and this one below, I just LOVE long veils!
And just before we returned to the party, we made a quick detour to the Swilken Bridge allowing me to repeat my favourite shot from last year's top wedding of Jen and Jon.

The party was in full swing at the Golf Hotel, and the cake has got to be the BEST I have seen yet. A story of the newlywed's time together; from buying houses and having to borrow their mum's work van to move their stuff in, from purchasing Murray, to the engagement, to the wedding day. All designed by the bride herself!
After a lovely meal, and some hilarious speeches, I stole the couple away again for a quick session as the sun went down!
As I left the newlyweds enjoying the sunset, I couldn't imagine a more perfect day from my point of view, and I am sure everyone else there that day thought the same!

Gillian & Peter's "Bling" session

Gillian and Peter are getting married this weekend, I will be on the Red Bull by the time it comes to their wedding, as their's is the THIRD wedding I will shoot this weekend..........

I met up with the couple last month when we recce'ed their venue, which was......... interesting; horizontal rain, gales and winds, and we were on a boat in the Forth!! Because of the terrible weather, the "Bling" session Gillian and Peter booked me to do on the same day had to be postponed - photographing drowned rats was just not on!

As they both live in Yorkshire, meeting up again before the wedding was always going to be difficult, until they realised that I would be back in the country when they were travelling up to Northumberland for a friend's wedding. So they commissioned me to travel down to the beautiful Alnmouth for images on the Northumberland coastline, and this time we were far luckier with the weather!

My favourite image of the day.....The Alnmouth area was absolutely gorgeous, and we all enjoyed a walk along the golden sands.

What was different about this session, is I had a little assistant with me.....my 3 year old son, Jack! While we were away on holiday in Canada, I let him run loose with my smaller back up camera, and I was gobsmacked by some of the images he was coming out with. So at this session I let him have a little shot and he did not bad at all! I have still to download his images but when I do, I will be blogging "Jack's Portfolio"! Nothing like starting them early huh?!He had a blast on the beach as well; he introduced himself to some people who were digging holes in the sand and within minutes he was down to his bare feet!He also took a total shine to Gillian!

Thought I don't think Peter was too chuffed about him muscling in on his gal! We all had a great laugh! And Jack sneaked in cuddles whenever he could!
But by the time we were back at Alnmouth train station, it was all getting too much for my young assistant.........

I am thoroughly looking forward to your wedding this weekend, guys; a triple header is not something I take on a lot; in fact in 8 years this is my first triple header. But having met you when you wanted to book and loved you both, and having wanted to shoot at your wedding venues for years, it was too good to turn down! Here's hoping there is no horizontal rain this time! ;-)

"We just wanted to say an absolutely massive thank you for last Monday (can't believe it was over a week ago already). You were absolutley fantastic really blended in like one of the guests and put Ruairidh and I at complete ease while we did our shots & the results speak for themselves - absolutely stunning!! We couldn't have asked for more and everyone that has seen them thinks they are fantastic. As you know we didn't have a video and these images will be what we look back on for years to come, Everytime I look at them (which is at least once a day) its like I'm right back there.

Lisa & Ruairidh's wedding - Loch Ness

What a fabulous wedding - I make no apology for making this a slideshow blog post!!

Lisa & Ruairidh travelled across country from Aberdeen way for their amazingly personal wedding at the Foyers Country House on the banks of Loch Ness. This place was just so cute - originally a country house hotel, now you can rent it for self catering which is what happened for the newlyweds and their children and family.

After 6 years and 3 children together, it was amazing to see the love this pair had; there was so many tears shed that day!

And the weather totally played ball - after several rainy days, the sun shone on the wedding day, enabling a champagne reception on the lawn outside, and a wonderful couples session on the banks of the Loch.

And the couples session ROCKED! In Lisa's words, "I totally trust you, Nikki" and the results show this! From romantic shots lochside, to an industrial feel just minutes from the loch, we had a blast! From America's Next Top Model posing, to big slushy kisses, it was so much fun! Having lots of time together for a couples session makes such a difference and the newlyweds totally appreciated having the time away.

The bride had put a lot of effort into this wedding, and involved a lot of her family and friends in it, in order to make it personal and welcoming to all.

My thanks goes to Lynne for travelling over from Skye to assist me, we had a blast girl!

Michelle & Charles' wedding - The Woodside Hotel, Aberdour

Another crazeee weekend of weddings and portraits!

Michelle & Charles' wedding brought me back to the lovely village of Aberdour for the second weekend in a row, with the continued varied weather to boot!

Bijou Florist made an amazing job on the flowers.
Michelle wore a stunning almost vintage style Maggie Sottero dress, which so suited her
colouring.Charles & Michelle live in a most glorious location, which made my job so much easier! Meanwhile at the Woodside, Charles was nervously awaiting his bride.
The Clipper Bar in the Hotel is a wonderfully scenic venue, look at this roof!
After the wedding and formals, Michelle has chosen to go to the beach at Aberdour and we spent half an hour dodging the rain clouds!
And yet looking in the other direction, you would have though you were at the Med!
But those big black rainclouds threatened.... You can even see the rain falling on Edinburgh over the water!
And soon enough, the rain did start to fall, but Michelle just produced her lovely parasol and we carried on!One of my favourite images of the day!

Michelle and Charles will hopefully be enjoying the sunshine on the Isle of Skye!

Nancy & Craig's wedding - Aberdour Castle & Strathearn Hotel, Kirkcaldy

Bit of a delay on blogging this stunning wedding, too many celebrations this week, between leaving work and my birthday today! But here at last is Nancy & Craig, whose wedding last Saturday was so elegant and fun!

It was a full house on Saturday in Buckhaven, where Nancy was joined by her friends and family, for pampering by Jo Bechard who did beautiful work on the beautiful girls
Before travelling to Aberdour Castle for the wonderfully personal ceremony by Gillian Stewart of the Humanist Society.

I don't normally like textures on my images, but this one just fitted perfectly.And we were so lucky again with the weather, allowing the couple to greet their guests immediately after the ceremony in beautiful light.
And Alfie the dog played a big part of the day; I think he is vying for the most important man in Nancy's life!Entertainment was laid on during the champagne reception, with a decidely Scottish feel. After all the guests had left, we had a cracking couples session; firstly around the Castle itself.And then we moved onto Silver Sands for a short while. Look how amazingly stormy the weather was, we were SO lucky, we were fighting against the elements all day as it looked like the heavens were just going to open up on us at any moment. Fortunately they didn't, and the sky gave dramatic contrast in the images.

And then it was onto the Strathearn Hotel for a lovely meal.

FREEDOM!

I don't tend to put too much of my personal life on this blog, but today is such a big important day for me and NMP that I just had to record it for history's sake!

NMP is now 8 years old and while I have been building up NMP to the high standards and great reputation it now brings, I have continued to work in the veterinary and animal care profession around the country.

At the young age of 18 leaving school, I was choosing between animals and art; working in kennels or going to art school. I chose animals. From a lowly kennelmaid earning £50 a week in 1991 in Skipton, Yorkshire, onto various kenneling positions then into veterinary nursing, firstly in Kinross, then onto other places like Glasgow and Glenrothes, through to the high heights of Head Nurse of Inglis Veterinary Centre in Dunfermline, in 2003. But after having Jack in 2004, having 26 weddings, my busiest year to date, and also starting boudoir photography too in the same year, it was just too much and I started to wind down in the nursing aspect of my career, moving into the management side of things at Inglis, finally over the past 7 months working just a day and a half as Insurance Manager.

Now as Summer 2008 is in full swing, there is another 26 weddings on the books, many portrait sessions and a nearly 4 year old and a husband to look after; it was time to make the leap off the cliff into full time self employment.......

So I sit here in the branch surgery of Inglis Veterinary Centre, with my last couple of hours in the veterinary profession, I raise a virtual glass to all I have met in the profession young and old, human and animal. Thank you for the last 18 crazy years! CHEERS!

The great thing for NMP is I can now commit all my working hours to the business, providing even better service as a fully qualified, full time, friendly, female, fun photographer!

The Hornes' "Bloodline" session

After shooting their amazing St Andrews wedding in May, it was a pleasure to be invited to the Hornes' beautiful home in the hills north of Dundee for a "Bloodline" session.

Their boys are just the cutest wee men ever!Young Oscar should take up modelling! Brotherly love.

Steph & Stuart's "Bling" session

Last Sunday was a bit of a crazy day for me in St Andrews.

I met up with the lovely Emily and her mother at the Old Course Hotel, to talk about her upcoming wedding there. It was lovely to receive this booking, again through the recommendations of the Old Course team, Phyllis and Kelly. I am looking forward to Emily's wedding in October, and Emily, I hope the planning from Hong Kong isn't too stressful!

After this meeting, I went to another fantastic St Andrews hotel to meet up with another of my fantastic clients, Steph and Stuart who are getting married next month at St Salvatores and the Golf Hotel. We had a chat about their wedding day, before shooting down to St Andrews Cathedral for a "Bling" session; a relaxed pre-wedding session. How lucky were we; when we were chatting about the wedding in the Golf, the heavens opened yet by the time we got to the Cathedral ruins, the sun was out, the sky was blue, and the Japanese tourists were out in full force!

After getting chucked out of the Cathedral ruins when they were closing we moved down the street, where we had a laugh.Having some fun with some new post processing techniques...Look at the sky on this image, we were SO lucky considering how wet and miserable it was just an hour earlier.

I am looking forward to your wedding next month guys; hopefully the weather will be like the above image on the day!

Emma & James' wedding - St Margarets Church Gorebridge & Melville Castle Edinburgh

I had been really looking forward to this wedding since meeting with Emma, as she told me that her hubby-to-be had surprised her with booking a horse and carriage for the big day! In 8 years, this was to be the first horse & carriage I was to photograph at a wedding! Since meeting Emma, I have found out that another 2 of my weddings this year are also including this beautiful mode of transport at their weddings, and one of those directly because of Emma's wedding! Why? I shall explain later!

Though originally from the area Emma now lives down south and did all her planning long distance, mainly through the internet. The weather was it's usual bizarre self, changing literally within seconds from rain to sun. But lucky the rain stayed off for the arrival of the bride & her father with 2 gorgeous gray horses pulling the vintage carriage.

It was wonderful to watch them leave the church and trot through Gorebridge and down the main carriageway. This is one of my favourite shots of the day of the handsome Josh & Issac.
I make no apology for concentrating on the couples session for this blog entry, we had such a blast at Melville Castle's gates with the horse and carriage.

We even stopped halfway up the driveway as by this time, the light was just gorgeous, peaking through the trees. How about this for stunning light..?
And just before we reached the castle, I expermented with some off camera flash.And as the guests were sitting down for the meal, we found some wonderful pockets of light around the castle for some last minute smooching!
Onto the pre-meal speeches and I think all the boys were quite nervous about this. And here I don't think Emma liked what her father was saying!
But she was soon smiling again!Her gorgeous bridesmaid Danna came over from the States for her first Scottish wedding, I think she quite enjoyed the various sights!The Best Man needed a topup for his speech though!

All in all, a fun day all round, and I hope you enjoyed Wales Emma and James.

ETA: Forgot to finish my story; I have been wanting to shoot a wedding with a horse and carriage for.........YEARS! This year seems to be my year for them now. After I found out that Emma was getting one as a surprise, I then found out that my wedding in Surrey in August also has one. And then.....last week I got a phone call from the Mother of the Bride of my August Arran wedding. That shot at the beginning, my favourite shot, I apparently was outside this MOB's house when I took it; she recognised me as I shot her other daughter's wedding a couple of years ago! Long story short is, she loved the look of the horse and carriage that she was checking with me if it would be okay to book one for her daughter's wedding in Arran, as she imagined the photos would look cool with one!! Oh YES I said! Cool!!

Donna & Robin's wedding - The Bay Hotel, Petticur, Kinghorn

Donna & Robin chose the brand new Bay Hotel in Petticur Bay for their evening wedding on what was supposed to be the longest day of the year....... Unfortunately the weather was more January-like rather than June!

Robin arrived with his young lad..And looked pretty cool, calm and collected.And the bride and her family were actually early! The main colour of this wedding was burnt orange.Beautiful burnt orange calla lillies. And one nervous bride pre-ceremony!

But all was well when Donna married Robin.
Afterwards the newlyweds braved their bridalsuite balcony for like............2 seconds!
So we did their couples session in their bridal suite and around the hotel interior.

Lots of cuddling and kissing throughout the evening! It was a very laid back, relaxed wedding just what the couple wanted.

And how COOL was it to see a choreographed first dance!!

Catherine & Paul's wedding - Queensferry Lodge, North Queensferry

Catherine & Paul had a gorgeous day at the Queensferry Lodge recently.

Paul had a giggle with his Best Man before the ceremony...but he was anxiously awaiting his bride....who turned up looking gorgeous!And they had a right giggle together during the ceremony! After the ceremony and mingling time, the three of us shot off in the car down to North Queensferry pier for some smooching and kissing and hugging and cuddling.... they did, not me! The weather was all over the place; sunny, then rainy, then sunny again... so bizarre for June!

Back at the hotel, we were ready for the meal...

And the kids were ready with the bubbles!
And as for the speeches.....
My favourite of the day; it's amazing what shots you can find in just a hotel corridor!

The newlyweds will be enjoying the delights of Mauritius as we speak; see you on your return guys!

Nadine & James' "Bliss" session

Nadine & James' go down in NMP history as being the most amazing couple for letting me do the craziest of things at a photographic session!

The newlyweds were in the Bay not only to see the results of the wedding day imagery but also ready to get back in their wedding gear for their post wedding "Bliss" session!

I seeked out the most amazing scenery for these pair and the weather TOTALLY played ball.

Nadine put on her stunning silk Lyndsey Fleming dress, James got back in his kilt.

And they went along with my daft idea of wading out onto the seabed to some driftwood.... little did I realise that the driftwood was in the middle of sinking sand.....

I lost my shoes when I sunk up to my knees, we stunk to high heaven but boy was it fun! And we got the most amazing images, I can easily see one of these getting blown up big for the studio!

Many MANY thanks to Nadine and James for going for a totally amazing "Bliss" session! These sessions are available to all NMP newlyweds!

And even if you didn't get photographed on your wedding day by myself, you can easily book up a "Back Again" session, sinking sand or not, you choose!

Audrey & Jim's wedding - Part Two

After cutting their amazing cake...everyone sat down for their meal. If you didn't know that Audrey & Jim had a great sense of humour, by the meal you would have realised! All the table names were Spongebob Squarepants characters; my Jack would have been in heaven, he loves eating crabby patties!And then it was onto the first dance...and then the dancing; their guests rocked the dancefloor especially this young man, who thought himself quite the young John Travolta!

The older ones showed him how to do it as well!And then Audrey & Jim asked everyone out to the front of the castle for the bouquet toss...which preceded a fantastic fireworks display!

And so there goes another Fernie Castle wedding! Looking at my diary, I have a wedding at this venue on the first weekend in June for the past 3 years in a row now; so who's booking me for next June at Fernie Castle?!

Another fabulous wedding after another!!

Jim & Audrey chose Fernie Castle for their special day. It was all go in the Library Suite on arrival in the morning!Beautiful flowers...to go with funky boots.....and a totally unique and unusual dress!!Personal touches.... The groom was no bad either!And the weather was perfect!And the green of the Castle Loch went well with the red of the dress.
