PTI Blog Hop --- Celebrate Yellow

I didn't think I'd be able to make this blog hop since I haven't unpacked all of my supplies yet, but I didn't manage to keep a few of my PTI supplies close at hand. (wink) I still have a lot of unpacked boxes in the garage from my scrap room since I'm still getting the house and yard in shape. Then my battery in my camera started getting low so I was lucky I was able to snap a couple of pics and upload to the computer. I thought I had lost my battery recharger but thankfully I just forgot it at my sister's house after the tornado. Thanks to everyone for the kind thoughts after the storm hit - again! I'm really loving the new house and I'm hoping to get back into scrapping / card making soon. So without any further blah - blah - here's my card for tonights PTI Blog Hop.

Two Strikes - I'm Outta There

We have moved into the new house and finally have internet service - Yeah! Just a short post to show some of the photos from the tornado that hit Woodstock, Georgia on April 19th around 11:00 pm. This is the second time in three years - (the very beginning of this blog shows the damage before when a giant oak demolished half of the house) -- We were able to get our move-in date to the new house moved from May 1 to April 23. Can I just say I HATE moving - well I like the new part but hate all of the boxes - thank goodness for a two car garage! ha

The tree that went through the house was twisted off at the root and the others fell on that one.

This one tore up the water and cable lines.

Easter Baskets

Just a quick post to show the Easter baskets I made for my sister to take to work with her. I forgot to take a pic before giving them to her so she took a few for me. Thanks Sis!!

I used one of Lauren Meader's templates from PTI Basket Basics which I love, after making 15 of them I really know how to put it all together too! lol

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We went next door to my sister's for a delicious ham dinner and all of the trimmings. I think I ate more than anyone else - I ate 3 rolls and a second helping of ham. Oh boy am I stuffed.

Just spoke to Mom a little while ago. She had a great Easter in Florida with my other sister and her grandkids and great-grandkids. She's really enjoying her stay down there. I told her about the house and we expected that she would want to come back home before the move. Surprise - she told told me I'd better be careful packing up her room and have the house nicely decorated before she came home!! That ole woman never ceases to surprise me.

Have you heard about My Cute Stamps? They have got some sooooo cute stamps and on Creating Cupcakes blog is an Easter stamp giveaway. (Love the chance for that) :)

So like I could not just pick one set for a fav -- oh no - I'll show you three of them I'd really like to get.
Don't you just love these. Love that little bird and the stems/leaves. All of the different snowflakes and the flourish * I really NEED this one! ;) That chocolate covered strawberry and cherry - yum - just love the possibilities with these sets.

I can see a lot of things to use this set for besides Easter. Can't you?

Great News ~ Yowling Cat & With Sympathy

It's been a trying, nerve wracking, and now exciting week. We received news today that it's all clear on the new house. YEAH!!! It's in the next sub-division over from where we are now but so much better. We're kind of glad Mom is in Florida for a few weeks so we can really clean out the basement/garage.

Patty-Cakes has an appointment Monday to get spayed. I just can't take it anymore and neither can she - poor thing. Found a vet that does laser surgery for $75! Can't beat that.

I also want to share a couple of sympathy cards I did for my sister last week. I used With Sympathy from PTI on both.

This next one is really my fav - I had these stars in my scrap supplies, I have no idea where there came from.

I am so glad I have this set as you know sympathy cards are really hard to make and this really makes it easy.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 3

I'm really loving the color challenges the Dawn McVey has been having over on her blog My Favorite Things. They kind of take me out of my comfort zone and this is a good thing. I really love the colors in this weeks challenge but it was a challenge to gather all five of them together for one card.

Rainy Days & Tuesdays

It's raining again. I'm not really complaining since we do need it but it is getting rather depressing. Making some Zatarain's Dirty Rice and it is starting to smell soooo good!

I made a couple of get well cards for my sister to give out the other day and let her choose which one she wanted. I made both using With Sympathy set and the sentiment from Faux Ribbon. She choose the one with the vine. :)

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 2

I'm so glad - and I knew it would be - a smashing hit Dawn McVey's color challenge over at her blog My Favorite Things that she will be doing so every week. She puts colors together that I just wouldn't think of and here is another one.

I really had a hard time with this one. At first I had brown as the main color, then I used Spring Moss as the background, and I didn't really care for either. Any -whoooo - this is what I came up with -- Stampers Select White as the background, Dark Chocolate, and Spring Moss on the rectangles. I grabbed some Fancy Pants chipboard that I've had forever and colored with 'teal-like' Metallic Rub-ons and glitter glue. Used a brown pencil for the lines on the outside and Mixed Messages for the sentiment. Rather simple but I like it. Thanks for dropping by - please leave me a note and let me know what you think.

Cuttlebug - Challenge 23

I just got a Cuttlebug and although I only have a couple of embossing folders and a couple of dies, I'm loving it so far. As I was tiptoeing through the web I came across The Cuttlebug Spot blog and decided to join in this weeks challenge. The challenge is - Celebrate Spring. I used the DeVine Swirl and Swiss Dot embossing folders and the oval slider die. I finally pulled out some old punches that haven't see the light of day in like - forever - using them to make the flowers and leaves. Since the theme is Celebrate Spring I used the Celebrate Today stamp from Mixed Messages by PTI. Also all cardstock is PTI - love this stuff.

Papertrey Blog Hop

This is my first Papertrey Ink Blog Hop and I'm really excited to hop around all of the other blogs that are particpating and seeing what I know are going to be some fab creations.

I started with Beautiful Blooms for my background as you can see here. I just love this flower, it's my favorite in the whole set. I just randomly stamped the image all over the paper.

I made two simple cards with that background.

I thought I was done but last night those yummy Damask stamps starting calling my name and here is what I came up.

Just love this set but I need A LOT of practice making backgrounds.

Here's a little show of the inside where I also lined it with a strip of the dp paper.

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge 1

I was excited today when I visited Dawn McVey’s blog and saw that she was starting color challenges. I love Dawn’s designs and some of the colors she puts together are like out there for me but looks so right the way she does it. This is one reason why I am jumping in on this challenge. I never would have thought to put these colors together; they are way out of my comfort zone. However, you know what? I like it. Thanks Dawn for starting these challenges.

I've used PTI Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate and Stampers Select White cardstock. Stamp set Teachers Apple. I used some deco scissors I had to try and make a postage like cut --- Note to self: Me and deco scissors do not get along very well. Ribbon is Dark Chocolate Swiss Dot by PTI, button Junkitz (I still have a whole collection of Chatterbox buttons)

This is the second of the weekly sketches that I've been doing - gets my mojo up and at it again. Next I need to finish up on the "box" for keeping my finished cards in and sorting through the photos from Mom's 90th Birthday.

Thanks to everyone that sent cards and their best wishes. We celebrated Sunday and on Monday, her actual birthday, I took her to lunch at Kayson's and she enjoyed the day out. I thank God everyday for this woman. It's not always easy but what wonderful blessings we've had.

Card Patterns ~ Sketch 4

I really love what Lauren Meader did with the Basket Basics that I finally broke down and purchased my first Timeless Template from PTI.

I need to play around some more, I'm thinking some spring colors.

Here's a photo of the little basket and card that I made for my sis while she was in the hospital this week. (After taking the photo - I did stamp a sentiment on the front of the basket and added some goodies. Next time I'll photo the actual finished product.)

Buttons, buttons, buttons - I just LoVe buttons! Nichole Heady has a little guessing game going on over at her blog capture the moment to go along with the introduction of buttons to their fabulous line of products. They really look yummy and I can't wait to own some of them.

One of my favorite sites Papertrey Ink is in the process of celebrating their two year anniversary. Here is a card for the "Over the Rainbox Challenge" that Nichole has on her blog. I had Pure Poppy and Ocean Tides, the other colors I got as close as I could with some Bazzill cardstock I had. The stamps are from PTI's Little Lady. The card is really simple and I keep wanting to add more to it but I'll leave it be so I can get it uploaded before the deadline.

Baby it's COLD outside

Brrrrrrrr -- 16 degrees! The coldest it's been in I can't remember and let me tell you the ole bones - hmm - old bones DO NOT LIKE IT. At least it's sunny outside but baby is it cold.
