I used to roll my eyes every time someone mentioned lipstick. For such a long time, lipstick was passe. I always associated it with the 90s, but now I have to say that lipstick is back in a big way. I'll admit that I still pair it with a lipgloss, but you can't get that beautiful depth of color without it.

There's nothing better than a fabulous exfoliator. I love the feeling of a freshly scrubbed face. It really makes me feel like I've accomplished something with my beauty regimen.

Little did I know that exfoliation was so popular. Or at least that's the conclusion that I've drawn since MAC's latest must have Volcanic Ash Exfoliator sold out online the day that it was released. I guess that leaves us unlucky ones who missed out the first time to troll our local MAC counters and stores. Of course, I'll do it because I can't help myself, but it's such a shame.

I've have infamously oily skin. Since I was in elementary school, I've noticed that by mid-afternoon, my face would feel like an oil slick. So, I'm continually on the prowl for great products that will help curb oil production or mattify my face.

We all want healthy glowing skin, but sometimes we just don't have the means to go out and buy products or head to the salon. Thankfully, it's been proven that some of the best skin remedies can be made right in your very own kitchen.

Here's great recipe for a quicky and simple exfoliant.

1 Tablespoon honey
2 Tablespoon finely ground almonds
½ teaspoon lemon juice

Once you mix all the above ingredients together, gently rub it onto your face. Not only will the honey quench your skin, but the almonds will slough off dead skin cells and the lemon juice will help red skin blotches go buh-bye

to get this short tousled look, ideal for mid-length hair, start with clean hair. to create the wavy texture, apply extreme style by VO5 curvaceous curls and tousle dry with a diffuser. once dry, twirl (don’t wind) 2-inch thick strands of hair around a curling iron in different directions. finish with extreme style by VO5 texturizing gum to provide a flexible, texturized hold.

The latest is the Heatherette collection filled with sugary sweet colors equally befitting for a wannabe Barbie girl or hipster.

Best Brands For Makeup Brushes

Ask any makeup artist and they'll tell you that more important than brand of makeup you use (because even renowned makeup artists use drugstore brands) is the quality of the brushes that you apply it with.

A great set of brushes will allow your makeup to glide on smoothly and evenly, and if you've never owned a set you don't even know what you're missing. Good brushes allow you precision that you can't get with applying product with your fingers or q-tips.

The Too Faced Kabuki brush is one of my absolute favorites. It's small and portable and the packing is adorable. In fact, all of brushes from Too Face are effective and fairly inexpensive ($17-$28.50). Though they only have long handle eye color brushes.

If you're on a budget, and you still want to purchase a complete set of brushes. I'd suggest you invest in a set from Sephora. Thought the synthetic fiber isn't ideal for makeup application. They certainly get the job, plus they're downright cheap with prices ranging from $4 to $35 for foundation brushes.

Then of course there is the holy grail of makeup brushes: MAC. I've know beauty enthusiasts who have spent upwards of $300 on a complete set of brushes from the legendary cosmetics retailer, but they swear they're worth every penny. I believe their most pricey is the larger powder brush priced at $62.
