It wasn't until I stopped knitting lace shawls for the interim that these socks finally got done. The Errant Lace Sock pattern was available for free from socknitters.com when I started work on the socks but is no longer available there.

The socks are done in KP Essential Shoreline Twist with size 1 circulars. The heel is a banded heel -- that is, the lace pattern goes down the side of the heel flap but the center is in slip stitch. Feel free to post it here or on your blog.

1. What's your favorite sock yarn? (please note that the word 'yarn' is singular. Just pick one. I know it's hard.)

2. What's your favorite brand and type of sock needle?

3. Do you knit your socks toe up, cuff down, or sideways?

4. Both socks at the same time or just one?

5. What's your favorite toe and why?

6. Favorite heel?

7. Do you prefer plain or patterned socks?

8. Who do you knit the most socks for?

9. Do you darn your socks? If not, what do you do with them?

10. Do you only wear handknit socks?

Bonus question: What pattern, if any, is your basic "I-just-need-a-pair-of-socks" sock pattern based on? Do you keep it on paper or memorized?

You can see mine on my blog.String Beanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01598846448053368565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23158172.post-1054564903639657052007-10-28T14:02:00.000-07:002007-10-28T14:06:24.228-07:00Maggies #4<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_JD-9W3NvR7U/RyT5tfaDvxI/AAAAAAAAAi8/fOzZQfbOipE/s320/Maggie%27s+%234.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5126496835774693138" />

Almost all Lorna's Laces sock yarns. They are modified Mermaids from the Lucy Neatby book Cool Socks, Warm Feet in Knitpicks Essential Tweed in Plum. I did my favorite heel and for the toe, my favorite german round toe. They were loads of fun to make and the way the pattern swirls on its own is amazing. Here they are:

Leaving for a two week vacation on Saturday.
