This release is yet another new direction in scope and format for the experimentalist with two deep vinyl cuts and a handful of funkier and experimental offerings for digital release. Chicago's darkest atmospheres collide with resonant percussion and huge magnetic bass lines to redefine deepness for 2009 with an unmistakable sound. The title cut ripples with worried synths and shuffling beats and rises to a fever pitch of apocalyptic bells. The B-side, Nourmena Priori wiggles languidly into a firm groove as the synths drone and spin pushing ever forward. Cold driving power and dynamic shifts in mood proves once again that Decimal's tradition of quality techno continues."

Enemy is also pleased to offer not one, but 3 digital exclusive tracks! Reflections focuses on the more textural and conceptual side of techno that is often buried by the countless club anthem-wannabes that are released on a weekly basis. While experimentation and progression seem to be two key words that are missing from many techno producer's vocabularies these days, this release does not follow that trend. If you're looking for dark, textural techno full of ambience, this may be of interest!

Available only at Beatport.

Enemy Recordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067811037830239865noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061737.post-15333820151991057572008-10-23T14:05:00.002-05:002008-10-23T14:14:29.035-05:00Analog God Release PartyThis past weekend in L.A., Droid Behavior hosted Interface 23.0. Not only was it a milestone 6 year anniversary for the LA-based promotion company, but it also played host to the "Analog God" release party. The EP hosts an original peak time track from Zahn, as well as remixes from Decimal, Drumcell & Audio Injection, Kyle Geiger, and Zahn himself giving it a rub down.

The party itself was fantastic. Set inside a Warehouse in East LA, the venue hosted a room chock full of techno and experimental. The production was top notch and the people were even better. Throw in a Turbo sound rig and you have the perfect techno party. To simply say "Thank you," is not enough. Happy 6 years, boys!

P.S. Also a shoutout to Matt & Rob at Compression for the generous hospitality on Friday night during the Drumcode showcase. With groups like Compression and Droid running things in LA, it's no wonder why things are blowing up on the West Coast.

Enemy Recordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067811037830239865noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061737.post-27976159017885238322008-10-23T14:02:00.001-05:002008-10-23T14:05:04.871-05:00Chinese DemocracyIt turns out Guns 'N Roses has announced the infamous "Chinese Democracy" will be released in the U.S. next month. In the Impulse Control series, Decimal will explore ways to control an audience's feelings and movements with sounds. The first release of the series, Impulse Control 1, showcases some of Decimal's most evocative and melodically complex work to date. On the A side, ''Egyptian Eye'' emanates a dark and forceful aesthetic driven by a moody and mysterious melody. This rhythmically sparse, highly emotional track is an attention-grabbing piece that would make an unexpected addition to any DJ's collection with its lazy snares and twisted synths. On the flip, ''Obscuro'' starts slow and builds into a series of shifting peaks of physical and emotional climax. Decimal's arrangement steadily crescendos with layers upon layers of diminished harmonics and syncopation to create a perfect peak-time floor-filler.

Support from superstar DJs with expensive sunglasses.

Enemy Recordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067811037830239865noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061737.post-79910678455482244182008-09-23T16:46:00.002-05:002008-09-23T16:53:58.582-05:00Lots of Zahn releases out now!Pardon our summer hiatus! Entitled "Nothing is Worth the Hype," the record is a collection of mid-summer techno tools for those who appreciate the sounds of today, but crave the energy of yesteryear's pounding techno grooves.

Enemy Recordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067811037830239865noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061737.post-4233698192258180952008-07-04T11:55:00.003-05:002008-07-04T11:59:04.991-05:00Dustin Zahn's debut on DrumcodeThis summer, Dustin Zahn will make his debut on the infamous Drumcode imprint. While Dustin has become increasingly more recognized for his work on Enemy which features more of a stripped down, synthesized sound, "Moving the Chains" travels back in time a little bit to the land of punishing drum loops and relentless drive. You can preview the title track over at his myspace page, where he'll be uploading another track or two from the release over the next couple weeks. While he still mans the controls with precision, it’s the music that does the real labor, leaving him free to focus on musical progression. The idea is simple, 80 minutes to explain a whole night’s worth of ideas. When Zahn hits the decks, you won’t find sidekick VJs, light up boxes with membership cards, or sets full solely of dubplate pressure…but you’ll find a mixtape fanatic who understands a good mix means focusing on the context as a whole. The previous record, the current, and the next are the only things that matter. This is the Enemy Mix Series."

Enemy Recordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067811037830239865noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061737.post-34578769712258988262008-06-23T01:09:00.006-05:002008-07-04T12:06:30.881-05:00Zahn, Decimal, Alessio Mereu, Rob Dowell/Stryke
Nothing is Worth the Hype
Enemy Records LTD
catalog number: enemyltd06
distribution: triple vision holland
Digitally available at: Beatport
release date: June, 2008

Track Listing
Stream all tracks
A1) Rob Dowell - Stick Figures (Stryke's Little Sisters Beats)
A2) Alessio Mereu - Kuschall
B1) Decimal - Scatterbrain
B2) Zahn - Solera

"Nothing...," a compilation of DJ tools for the summer festival season, is the latest release from Dustin Zahn's Enemy Records imprint. In an era where every release strives to be the next big anthem, this is a collection of no-frills tools guaranteed to cause an equally large ruckus. Big with Richie Hawtin and Danny Tenaglia!

Stryke starts the compilation with his remix of Atlanta-based Rob Dowell, offering a very simple and effective DJ tool which relies on the shuffled-conga formula yet still manages to stand out from the rest of today's clutter…Stryke does it again with precision and style!

With "Kuschall," Italia-based Alessio Mereu expands upon his sound and turns the aggression up to 11. The result is devastating and a must-listen for anyone looking for a sense of hard-techno relief in a world of post-minimal music.

Decimal returns again with another solid offering, "Scatterbrain" is an energetic and funky 6-minute joyride thanks to driving sub-bass and cleverly modulating synthesizers. The perfect contrasts of sound and concept works perfectly in any setting!

Dustin Zahn finishes off the compilation with "Solera," a track geared specifically towards the summer season which will have no problem fitting it at those epic beach and terrace parties. While he's normally known for a moodier and more artistic sound, this time around he has channeled a funkier and more percussive groove that should please house and techno DJs alike.

Enemy Recordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067811037830239865noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061737.post-86916965946898682232008-06-23T01:05:00.004-05:002008-06-23T01:18:28.597-05:00Joel Mull's Anti-Gray remixes available nowFollowing the release of Dustin Zahn's well received solo E.P.,"Burned Out," Enemy Records proudly presents enemyltd05 with Swedish superstar and Inside Records label boss Joel Mull taking on remix duties. Working Dustin Zahn's brilliant track "Anti-Gray" from the "Burned Out E.P" into two distinctly different dance floor burners, Mull really flexes his muscles on this release. Mull's "White Mix" is a dance floor-friendly shuffling version of Zahn's track on the A-side, while his "Black Mix" on the flip will suit fans of energetic, loopy techno with plenty of claps and stabs. With support from Adam Beyer, Dave Clarke, Steve Rachmad, Alexi Delano, Radio Slave, Mark Broom, Radial, Massi DL, Paco Osuna, Mihalis Safras, and plenty of BBC Radio 1 airplay, the "Anti-Gray" remixes have already taken the international techno circuit by storm. Adam Beyer recently licensed the "White Remix" for his upcoming Fuse Mix CD. -Elly Rifkin

Enemy Recordshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06067811037830239865noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23061737.post-5722512557813630362008-04-04T18:04:00.001-05:002008-04-04T18:05:39.423-05:00"Burned Out" Available now!Dustin Zahn's 'Burned Out' is available now in fine record stores and digitally at Beatport.com.
