Hi! I have had a blog since Jan. 07. I started placing Catholic Teaching in my home town newspaper. Then I thought people might want to interact with me after they read the little ad so I started a blog and simultaneously posted what was in the newspaper. Before long I was blogging regularly. I have only heard from one person from town at the blog but get visits from all over the world.
I post on Bread From Heaven Unlimited bfhu.wordpress.com and The Black Cordelias theblackcordelias.wordpress.com ( I was asked to post on that site) I only get a little over one hundred page views a day on my own blog so I am definitely an amateur.

Dear Sirs:

Having read a few of your "amateur" blogs, I am wondering if you should not make a new badge for folks like me, who are trying to get past the truly irrelevant stage. I almost hate to say this, but yes, I am a convert of 21 years (a lot of us seem to write blogs, huh?). Anyway, everyone else seems to know all about Latin masses and who knows what, but here is my website anyway, In Both Death and Life.

I hate to think I want to join because the badge is so neat, but I might as well say it. Anyway, I write about whatever seems relevant (or not) at the moment, but most of it involves Catholicism in some way. At least, I think it does. Gonna have to read some more of your member's blogs, and after that, I may have to revise that.

Hello Amateur Catholics,

I would like to join your list of Amateur Catholics.

Who would you list among Professional Catholics? I would like to argue that there is only one Professional Catholic.

I would say that individuals who make a living from their Catholic writings and speaking engagements are professional writers and speakers. They just happen to know a bunch about Catholicism.

Many Catholic bloggers have the same knowledge and devotion to the Church and its teachings, but they just can't write or speak as well.

What we have in common is that we love the Church in which Jesus lives that is directed by the Holy Spirit for the Glory of God the Father. We are all Amateur Catholics, save one, since amateur means one who loves.

The only Professional Catholic is Jesus Himself. He worked in order to purchase the Church, us, at a very high price.

But whoever is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. Avoid immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the immoral person sins against his own body. Therefore, glorify God in your body.

One thing we Amateur Catholics do is glorify God in our bodies by blogging for Christ and His Church.

May we always work for our Lord in the whatever we do, say, think, or write.

Dear Fellow Amateur Catholic:

I've been blogging for over a year now in two different sites, but I still haven't found my niche in the blogosphere yet (heh heh). Anyway, I'm still 100% amateur -- no job, no salary, just lots of work doing this blog for the glory of God now. Would it be fine with you guys if I join the group?

It's just a collection of news, centrist opinion, and angry, pro-Church rantings from the author, if you want to know the contents, or rather, future contents (this blog has only existed for about a few days -- talking about amateur amateur here!).

I am a Catholic layman with a Charismatic bent but I am definitely an amateur blogger in every respect.

I recently started a blog where I share my spiritual walk experiences (and stumbles) with whomever is interested. I do this in the hope that others may profit from the lessons I have learned as I walk with the Lord along the "narrow way".

I have included a compendium of resources in my blog that have helped me and feel that these can also help those who wish to enter into a closer walk with Jesus or are having life problems where they can dig into the Word of God, meditate, or read inspirational articles.

originally, my blog was meant to be a photo-journal of my daughter and I making a pilgrimage to all of of the Catholic churches in Austin, TX. Soon, it began to morph. It turned into a general family photo site. And then I started adding some writing. Then came some favorite things. Before I knew it, I was adding prayers for the Pope. Hello Fellow Amateurs,

I am a blogger who has never made a penny off of it, and a Catholic. Is that a capital C? Anyway, I converted officially two years ago on the eve of Pentecost, that way I don't have to remember a date, I can just say the eve of Pentecost. Previous to that I was an Episcopalian for thirty years. Why did I convert?

Oh I can hear you saying, ........nope, I don't care. Women priests....nope, I don't care. A woman Presiding Bishop?....nope, I don't care.

I believe in Transubstantiation! It is just that simple.

Long ago and far away in east Texas where I was born, I was raised in the Church of Christ. If you don't know what that is, let's say it's fundamentalist and leave it at that. When some of my mother's friends asked her "how long has your son been Catholic?" She replied, "all his life, I think."

You see, I felt that when the "men" got up to the table - and we had communion weekly - and said this is my body, why, it was obvious that something had happened to that matzo cracker that made it not quite matzo anymore. Needless to say, the "men" and I had a rather difficult time working that out. So at fourteen I skipped out and becamse an Episcopalian of the more Catholic than Catholic variety.

The thing is, I hated it. It all seemed like a put on in the worst way. Then I attended a Latin Mass and had the same feeling! So I was confused. Then I went to The Abbey of Our Lady of Gethsemani, Trappist, monastery in Kentucky. You know, where Merton drank beer and wrote all those books that turned the spiritual world upside down. I started going to daily Mass there, and you know what, I realized that I was Catholic, always had been, and wasn't about to change soon, so why not just get on the horse, get some instruction, and get Catholicized. Which I did on the eve of Pentecost a couple of years ago.

www.gethsemanireflections.com has undergone many changes of personality as at first I meant for it to be a spiritual journal. That didn't last because spiritual journals are not for public reading. Then I thought I'd get involved in commenting on what the Bishops did, that just made me mad. So now I comment on the daily readings, from Office of Readings, Lauds, Terce, Sext, None, Vespers, or Mass. Sometimes I'm funny, and sometimes I'm not. Right now I have an upper respiratory infection that makes me feel less than funny.

So what do you say, guys/gals? Brothers and Sisters? Let me in? Pretty please?
