I am a mom of a child with ASD and I have watched those types of behaviors with my own child as well as with ohter's children & I can tell you first hand, yelling, spanking, ignoring, and other negative reinforcement only acts as "triggers" for these children, who unfortunately don't understand or manipulate the world the way "typical" people do! The key is to "reach" them...to bring what's inside out. There are also so many studies on positive reinforcement that actually changes the lives of these children in a positive way not institutionalized in abusive centers who pray on parents ignorance, total despair or their own sadistic beliefs. Another words if a parent believed beating their "typical" child to a pulp when she misbehaved was effective,should they have that right & DCYF should then support them in court rather than take their child??? So where are the rights of a disabled child who in turn don't even understand the way a "typical" child may??? My child made dramatic improvements because I learned how to understand his behaviour and way of thinking...I gave him patience & love and any therapy I could get from angencies that actually cared! I'm not saying it's easy because it's all on the parents to do this and it's sometimes a long wait for some therapies along w/ a lot of time & patience and some children do need to be in residential settings...but theres schools who don't abuse the students! I am appauled that our country allows this but not surprised that there are supporters because even Hitler had supporters, right??!!! I couldn't even imagine someone doing any of the cruel things JRC does to my child and it truely breaks my heart that other children are suffering this way! Don't believe the lie and you parents that have children there, you profs that work there and deliver these "therapies" should be ashamed of yourselves for being so ignorant & uneducated because these children suffer at your hands!!!!!next time ANONYMOUS, if you so firmly believe that torturing kids who can't help themselves is really all therapy & it's ok, DON'T HIDE!!!!!!!!JENnoreply@blogger.com
