Projected Nintendo Wii Sales

At gameonion, we really do not like to speculate.

Now that that is out of the way, allow us to speculate. According to this article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16115967/, the Wii sold 600,000 consoles in the first 8 days after launch. At first, we were not impressed. But then our science department decided to work out the numbers to see where the Wii will stand over time. This is when our jaws dropped.

Normally when reading console sales projections, one realizes they are just guesses. Unless you have a graph to back you up. Which we do.

By December of 2012, there will have been 139,800,000 Wiis sold. Not impressed yet? That is in the state of Pennsylvania alone. Worldwide, the sales will be about 985,564,462,000,165 consoles. Of course these are not counting black market sales.

New PS2 Greatest Hits Lineup

I love greatest hits games. It is pretty much how I get to play all of the games I play. Now finally SOCOM 3 is coming to greatest hits. Now I just have to get my PS2 back that my ex-girlfriend stole from me.

PS2 last month outsold the Xbox 360. This is just insane. But if you think about it, it makes sense. There are not that many really good 360 games out yet. We will have to see what the numbers are like when Halo 3 and the PS3 come out.

LEGO Star Wars II will be released on September 12th. The same day the original trilogy of Star Wars will be released on DVD. My review of this news: Good.

We can look forward to more SOCOM happiness in the near future. According to a (leaked?) EB game listing we will see SOCOM US Navy Seals Combined Assault for the PS2 and SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 2 for the PSP. Apparently the games should be released before the upcoming PS3. Sounds good to me.

You can expect more wrestling mayhem from THQ next year. It has been confirmed that WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007. This is definitely going to be a sweet game. THQ rarely has missed the mark when it comes to this franchise. Somehow they always make it feel fresh every iteration.

What is with all of these shows on tv that have people completely addicted. 24, Lost, Prison Break.... The list goes on and on. I guess it just naturally to make games out of some of these. 24: The Game makes sense. Prison Break: The Game would make sense. But Lost: The Game? Not so sure.

Kingdom Hearts 2 is coming out for the PS2! I used to think this was a kid's game until my girlfriend made me play part 1 a few years ago. It was actually pretty addictive. The game is extremely creative and just a blast to play. Now Square Enix is going continue the series.

Capcom Studio 8 has long been famous for one of my favorite card games: Final Fight. I was recently really excited about the new Final Fight: Streewise. Unfortunately there will be no more Final Fights.

EA is amazing at every sports game they do. Especially hockey. I have been playing EA's NHL series since 1992. Check out this review of NHL 2006:

I never beat Final Fantasy 10 but I got to the last fight with Sin. I never even played FFXI but I am excited about FFXII. And now it has launched.
