Maybe it's just me but that Slapsy looks and awful lot like some other character. Well, if he was created by Joe Barbera.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_qKqGc2I/AAAAAAAABrk/AT42uxWhNXY/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-36.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_qKqGc2I/AAAAAAAABrk/AT42uxWhNXY/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-36.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226426992467276642" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_kgqBDVI/AAAAAAAABq8/1uSsDYwN2Oc/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-37.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_kgqBDVI/AAAAAAAABq8/1uSsDYwN2Oc/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-37.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226426895293287762" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_kpZYskI/AAAAAAAABrE/fBFNgaelB0g/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-38.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_kpZYskI/AAAAAAAABrE/fBFNgaelB0g/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-38.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226426897639453250" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_k2fb5cI/AAAAAAAABrM/3kwmdxRm_wY/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-39.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_k2fb5cI/AAAAAAAABrM/3kwmdxRm_wY/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-39.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226426901154489794" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp2.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_k0UWoYI/AAAAAAAABrU/R0hcfRlNnH0/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-40.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_k0UWoYI/AAAAAAAABrU/R0hcfRlNnH0/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-40.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226426900571136386" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_l4iMarI/AAAAAAAABrc/eCW1wo1cQdg/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-41.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SIf_l4iMarI/AAAAAAAABrc/eCW1wo1cQdg/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-41.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5226426918882798258" /></a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><p id="blogfeeds"><$BlogFeedsVertical$></p></div>Kevin Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07623675845502307848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22733109.post-57287059243017358022008-07-21T23:18:00.001-04:002008-07-21T23:21:05.041-04:00Art Davis - "The Rattled Rooster"This Art Davis short may be a little weak on gags but the animation and the rooster character design help redeem it. Particularly the dance scene. I might be in the minority on this one, but I really love Lundy's Barney Bear shorts. Maybe it's because it's basically Tex's unit. <br /><br /><div><object height="343" width="420"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x66bsf&amp;related=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x66bsf&amp;related=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" height="343" width="420"></embed></object><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x66bsf_impossible-possum_shortfilms">Impossible Possum</a></b><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/klangley">klangley</a></i></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><p id="blogfeeds"><$BlogFeedsVertical$></p></div>Kevin Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07623675845502307848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22733109.post-35037880694336485802008-07-15T23:44:00.003-04:002008-07-15T23:54:59.628-04:00Pixie and Dixie - "Puppet Pals" (w/ music IDs)I've always had a soft spot for the Huckleberry Hound show even in spite of the drop in the animation quality compared to what most of these guys were doing at MGM. Though this one has some better poses in it than others thanks to Michael Lah's layouts. Also, I've included IDs for the music cues used in this short, though it's mostly a few different ones reused over and over. I'm super nerdy when it comes to those old music cues. I spend way too much time listening to that stuff. "Puppet Pals" mostly uses cues from Jack Shaindlin, my favorite of all the stock music composers, and a couple of Loose/Seely cues. There is one cue that I'm not familiar with, I haven't come across it anywhere, and I have loads of this stuff. If anyone knows please feel free to share. I'm sure there's only a couple of other people out there that give a shit about this sort of thing. I'll move onto some Gumby cues next time.<br /><br /><div><object height="336" width="420"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x6553k&amp;related=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x6553k&amp;related=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" height="336" width="420"></embed></object><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6553k_puppet-pals_shortfilms">Puppet Pals</a></b><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/klangley">klangley</a></i></div></div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><p id="blogfeeds"><$BlogFeedsVertical$></p></div>Kevin Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07623675845502307848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22733109.post-63803808170392329962008-07-15T23:31:00.005-04:002008-07-15T23:40:01.412-04:00Sheldon MayerAfter reading <a style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255); font-weight: bold;" href="http://thadkomorowski.com/2008/07/12/sheldon-mayer/">Thad's post</a> on Sheldon Mayer, I remembered that I had a bunch of Animal Antics, Raccoon Kids, and Nutsy Squirrel comics with his work in them. There's a really fun walk cycle in the beginning of this one. Robert Little painted the backgrounds on this short. I'm assuming like <a style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255); font-weight: bold;" href="http://www.animationarchive.org/2007/02/comics-harvey-eisenbergs-foxy-fagan.html">Foxy Fagan</a>, this is also a collaboration between Harvey Eisenberg and Joe Barbera. Most of the star characters are directly or indirectly taken from MGM characters. King Looey the Lion is basically the lion from "Jerry And The Lion", Slapsy Squirrel is Screwy Squirrel with pants, and Officer Mutt is just <a style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255); font-weight: bold;" href="http://klangley.blogspot.com/2006/06/officer-pooch.html">Officer Pooch</a> revisited from the Hanna-Barbera cartoon of the same name.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcllmrIsvI/AAAAAAAABmM/Bq4P7IBDjnY/s1600-h/officerpooch1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcllmrIsvI/AAAAAAAABmM/Bq4P7IBDjnY/s320/officerpooch1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212676421671498482" border="0" /></a><br />The comic is in awful shape and was literally falling to pieces as I read it so I made sure to scan the whole thing before it completely disintegrates. The artwork is fantastic so I'll be sure to post the whole thing in a few different posts. Though maybe not the covers, as there's not much left of them. Luckily the rest of comic is in better shape.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcnAq7UZoI/AAAAAAAABm8/fN72aN0IvyQ/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-13.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcnAq7UZoI/AAAAAAAABm8/fN72aN0IvyQ/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-13.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212677986181211778" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcnBEUSqvI/AAAAAAAABnE/WbPdyYMDyrA/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-14.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcnBEUSqvI/AAAAAAAABnE/WbPdyYMDyrA/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-14.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212677992996842226" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp2.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm2RoQyxI/AAAAAAAABmU/CeSzlP66cpk/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-15.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm2RoQyxI/AAAAAAAABmU/CeSzlP66cpk/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-15.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212677807591705362" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm2i_lgUI/AAAAAAAABmc/mgpEco-ab3Y/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-16.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm2i_lgUI/AAAAAAAABmc/mgpEco-ab3Y/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-16.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212677812252934466" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm3BzrhxI/AAAAAAAABmk/E_KvHJ7qDps/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-17.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm3BzrhxI/AAAAAAAABmk/E_KvHJ7qDps/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-17.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212677820524496658" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp1.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm3uhiYxI/AAAAAAAABms/B-Jhw-v3WqY/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-18.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp1.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm3uhiYxI/AAAAAAAABms/B-Jhw-v3WqY/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-18.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212677832527995666" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp2.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm5PDJqUI/AAAAAAAABm0/YjaUYpktIvg/s1600-h/Red+Rabbit+%235-19.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFcm5PDJqUI/AAAAAAAABm0/YjaUYpktIvg/s320/Red+Rabbit+%235-19.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212677858438785346" border="0" /></a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><p id="blogfeeds"><$BlogFeedsVertical$></p></div>Kevin Langleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07623675845502307848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22733109.post-30294495734721972022008-06-13T22:50:00.006-04:002008-06-21T22:48:00.175-04:00Popeye - "Goonland"<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFM0PE6blVI/AAAAAAAABmE/kEoeZT-9uhk/s1600-h/goonland1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SFM0PE6blVI/AAAAAAAABmE/kEoeZT-9uhk/s320/goonland1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5211566627419297106" border="0" /></a><br />I'm really looking forward to the next Popeye set that's coming out soon. I forgot I scanned these. The first model sheet of Yosemite Sam is really appealing, especially when compared to the one on the bottom. I also uploaded Sam's first appearance, the Freleng short "Hare Trigger". This is one of my favorite Freleng shorts.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp2.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SD4V2KFWrrI/AAAAAAAABjg/rm5LThQqMYE/s1600-h/Yosemite+Sam+1.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SD4V2KFWrrI/AAAAAAAABjg/rm5LThQqMYE/s320/Yosemite+Sam+1.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205622239450803890" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SD4V2aFWrsI/AAAAAAAABjo/L79aX2NK-cs/s1600-h/Yosemite+Sam+2.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SD4V2aFWrsI/AAAAAAAABjo/L79aX2NK-cs/s320/Yosemite+Sam+2.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205622243745771202" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SD4V2qFWrtI/AAAAAAAABjw/z0grbMOO-bI/s1600-h/Yosemite+Sam-3.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="http://bp0.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SD4V2qFWrtI/AAAAAAAABjw/z0grbMOO-bI/s320/Yosemite+Sam-3.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205622248040738514" border="0" /></a><div><object height="336" width="420"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x5la0r&amp;related=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x5la0r&amp;related=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" height="336" width="420"></embed></object><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x5la0r_hare-trigger_shortfilms">Hare Trigger</a></b><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/klangley">klangley</a></i></div></div><br />You may have noticed my blog has been a little less active than usual. I don't know if it's because some other blog or site linked to or if it's that they're just not as well known and people are curious. Either way here's another one that I really enjoy. "The Ostrich", released in 1949, seems more "Lantz" like than even some of the other Animaland shorts. I don't know if it's the song, "Dont Hide Your Head In The Sand" or if it's the father ostrich's design that just make me think of mid forties Lantz cartoons directed by Shamus Culhane and Dick Lundy. I think they're great cartoons and recommend the DVD to anyone slightly interested in them. Here's a few model sheets to go along with the cartoon.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp3.blogger.com/_GJ4GvNsomrU/SBaLK7UoF1I/AAAAAAAABgo/8rXC1vmTOnQ/s1600-h/Jnr.+Ostrich-03-1948.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Please do yourself a favor if you haven't already and check out his site <a href="http://bigblownbaby.com/index.html">bigblownbaby.com</a>. If you haven't read his comics of the same name track them down. They're hilarious. There's also a Hellboy Jr. trade out which is really funny. There's a Baby Huey spoof called "Huge Retarded Duck" that's sick and twisted. He has to be one the finest inkers I've ever seen. His dry brush technique is incredible. Enough ass kissing, let me get to this cartoon. This aired on Cartoon Network's What A Cartoon Show in 1999. I read in an interview that King Crab was to originally be a part of Cartoon Network's night time adult programming, what would later end up being Adult Swim. But the idea of an expensive original show scared them off. It's a shame, I really think this show had the potential to be a big hit. "I... I've never been comfortable... in the men's room." Hilarious stuff. I believe that Bill has had the rights to the character returned to him fairly recently so maybe there's a chance he'll sell it to a different network. Bill also has a blog where he posts his beautiful landscape paintings, check it out <a href="http://williamwray.blogspot.com/">here</a>. There's a fantastic interview with art and a painting lesson in <a href="http://twomorrows.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&amp;cPath=98_59&amp;products_id=430">Mike Manley's DRAW! magazine, issue 6</a>. Pick it up if you can. The awesome Stephen DeStefano, who also King Crab with him is also interviewed.<br /><br /><div><object height="336" width="420"><param name="movie" value="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x547cm&amp;v3=1&amp;related=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.dailymotion.com/swf/x547cm&amp;v3=1&amp;related=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" height="336" width="420"></embed></object><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><b><a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x547cm_king-crab_shortfilms">King Crab</a></b><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><i>Uploaded by <a href="http://www.dailymotion.com/klangley">klangley</a></div></div><br /></i><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);">Update-</span>I forgot to mention the awesome King Crab sculpture by Jason Peltz and Bill Wray.
