I am currently in need of a title for my romantic suspense that will be out in July 08. It is NOT connected to my June 26th 07 release, Kiss Me Deadly. This book is about a dancer, who inherits part of a biodiesel buisness as well as her father's partner. When someone comes after her to steal to secret biodiesel formula, the hero tries to protect her. Okay--all title suggestions are welcome.
Susan KearneySusan Kearneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15562011650397196975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22607991.post-58279707832314527112007-05-29T13:27:00.000-07:002007-06-26T20:30:47.000-07:00KMDHi All,
I just uploaded the trailer for Kiss Me Deadly. This was home made--start to finish. A friend, Mike Greenwell, did the photography and edited. I wrote the script, hired the actors and some was a family affair. My daughter Tara did the text and is the victim slammed against the wall. My son Logan is the villain and my husband drove the truck. In addition, I hired two actors, Jill and Jimmy and the two children Mathew, little boy and Logan, the baby also got to play parts. I wanted to thank everyone for all their hard work and hope that my readers enjoy the trailer. Feel free to put it up on your own sites.
Best,
Susan KearneySusan Kearneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15562011650397196975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22607991.post-1170885035471981612007-02-07T13:48:00.001-08:002007-02-07T13:50:35.483-08:00Island Heat and The Nymph KingHi,
Island Heat is finally out and when you all go to the store to pick up a copy, please take a look at Gena Showalter's latest release. The good news is that my book trailer for ISLAND HEAT is finally done. It was a load of fun to make an an equal amount of hard work. As many of you know, I found the cover model for Island Heat at a professional fight. Since his wife was also gorgeous, my daughter photograghed them and they ended up on the cover.

So it seemed natural to ask them to star in Cirle of Seven's production of Island Heat. To do that, we filmed in Tampa. I am fortunate to have a friend with a great camera. he shot the boat scences, the water shots and the helicopter shots. Those all required good weather and we feared that if we waited it might rain the day Joe Greuberman flew in to shoot the rest.

Now if you see a lot of dirt on the actors--that was my job applying dirt. :) Oh, yes and picking locations. Finding a place to shoot the volcano shot proved very interesting. Since we have no volcanoes in Florida, we lucked out when the site we'd chosen to film at had black asphalt literally dumped at our feet.

And I lucked out by having two professional fighters act in the video! And now you all get to see two versions, the short on my home page and the longer one inside my member section.

The sound of that volcano popping is Joe's oatmeal on his stove. Ah--I'm giving away trade secrets!

Many readers have asked me if I'm going to be writing more Rystani warriors. Well after this book, next up is KISS ME DEADLY, a romantic Suspense from Tor. And I'm currently writing the sequel to ISLAND HEAT, SOLAR HEAT which will be a Feb. 08 release. Then I'm planning another suspense, and then another paranormal. Eventually I plan to connect the HEAT series with my Rystani warrior series. But that's way in the future.

Meanwhile, I hope you'll order a copy of Island Heat. And please ignore the blurbs of many online bookstores. For some reason the QUEST and ISLAND HEAT got mixed up in the data base. So ISLAND HEAT is brand new and you can read the blurb and excerpt right here on my web site.

Hoping of all you have the best of New Years.

Susan KearneySusan Kearneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15562011650397196975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22607991.post-1161191590617123222006-10-18T09:50:00.000-07:002006-10-18T10:13:54.496-07:00A writer's lifeI haven't been a regular blogger and I am sorry. Life keeps getting in the way. First and foremost I had to finish KISS ME DEADLY, my July 07 romantic suspense release . The galleys (final proofs) came in on ISLAND HEAT, the Feb 06 release. And both books needed quotes, dedication pages and acknowledgments. In addition, I've been traveling to conferences. In the last few months I've been to St. Louis, MO, Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, Cleveland, Houston and DC. I'm not complaining. . . I love to travel and even got to do a local TV appearance. It's been fun. Time consuming. But fun.

And now I'm in the middle of helping to organize a Booktrailer (tm) for Circle of Seven Productions. We're shooting ISLAND HEAT with the same people who are on the cover of the book. (You can see them on my website www.susankearney.com then click on Future Books and scroll down the page) And I get to help with the script, the costumes, the actors. This past weekend we spent the entire day to get about 20 secs of film. Eventually, I'll put it up on my website . . . no, you can't see it yet. Sorry to be a tease.

And I'm also starting to think about the next book, POLAR HEAT, a sequel to ISLAND HEAT. This story is going back into space. And I need to start writing next week. All I need is a subplot, characters and an opening scene. Those openings drive me insane. It is so hard to write them. I must rewrite page one 20 times. On the other hand, I love the middle of the book, where I can put in all the complications. Endings get more difficult again. Wrapping up all those details is hard, too. Actually, there is nothing easy about writing. And the more I learn the more difficult it becomes.

So each book I try to work on one part of craft, hoping it will eventually become automatic. Sometimes this actually works. This book my goal is to deepen point of view. For a simple example, "He was worried," is a poor way to evoke emotion. It would be better to write, " He wondered if the kids were all right. Why weren't they running to the front door to greet him? Why couldn't he hear their happy voices? Maybe they were next door. "

It sounds easy to do, but for me, it's not. So the plan is to work on that as well as figure out my plot. All before Monday.

Susan KearneySusan Kearneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15562011650397196975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22607991.post-1151513294434762372006-06-28T09:38:00.000-07:002006-06-28T09:48:14.446-07:00April, 27, 2006I know, I know. I promised to post more often. And THE QUEST just hit the shelves. But I've been so busy writing the new book that will be out next summer that I haven't had time to talk about THE QUEST

Some writers are technically challenged and i happen to be one of those. :) So i have an article for you. After finsihing Island Heat, I took off part of April. During that time Circle of Seven completed my book trailer for The Quest and I believe it's their best one yet. I love the spaceships... and the kiss.

And my May book Midnight Magic took me by surprise and hit the bookstores in April. So yes, it's out, and my web site is a bit behind. But don't miss this anthology, it introduces the ehroine of The Quest as well as Jeanie London's Fall book, The Retrieval. And it's always a pleasure to team up with Rebecca York.

SueK. who promises to come back more often to her own blogSusan Kearneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15562011650397196975noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22607991.post-1141752459953032402006-03-07T09:22:00.000-08:002006-04-29T07:08:14.323-07:00March 7th 2006It's taken a while to figure out how to blog--yes, I'm way behind the times. The good news is that Island Heat my Feb. 07 release is done. Yeah.

And for those of you going to Daytona at the Romatic Times Convention, I look forward to seeing you. I'm on two panels, one is SF/romance and I'm not sure about the other. And I want to invite everyone to the bellydancing class I'm hosting.

And while you're there, you can have your picture taken by my daughter Tara. Once I dig into a book, I tend to forget the rest of the world. Right now I'm between projects and still celebrating. And trying out this blogging thing. :)

Recent news: The Ultimatum came out in stores this week and made the USA Today list as well as the Walden's mass market list--so Im psyched and watching the Olympics. And trying to figure out why this book did so much better than the others. Was it momentum from The Challenge and The Dare? Or the cover? Or my book trailer? Or this book's story or the last one's? It's enough to make a business major crazy.

And one reader question I'm asked a lot, I'll answer here. How many books are in the series? Right now The Quest is the last book--but that could change. It's possible I might eventually come back to the Rystani universe but not in 07. I just finished writing Island Heat, a February 07 release that's a contemporary story with an alien with paranormal powers--an alien who's come to Earth on a mission, and a heroine determined to stop him. And then in July 07, Tor will release a romantic suspense--a story I thought up a long time ago and one I've been wanting to write.

But I almost never say never. Someday I could return to the Rystani men--just not in 07. Meanwhile, here's the place to ask questions and let me know what's on your mind. I put this blog inside my member section to keep it small, informal. I figure the only people who come here are the ones who are really interested . . . and since it's my blog, I can do exactly what I want to.

Susan KearneySusan Kearneyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15562011650397196975noreply@blogger.com
