Finally I'm making some prints from the drum scans Bennie hooked me up with, this is the first of them. It comes from an ongoing project on a stretch of Maine road called Rte. 302, its an eclectic journey along this desolate stretch of Downeast Maine with an endless mix of bizarre and beautiful views of this state. One of my favorite stretches to cross as well as the main vein for excellent fisheries. Like I said, ongoing...

Fort Gorges, Casco Bay, ME

So Mr. Marchesi and I arose at the crack of dawn to paddle my 12 ft canoe out into the dark waters of the Casco Bay last weekend and snagged some shots of the old fort. Its a beautiful location, only accessible via water and encompasses the entire island with its walls. The tide was low and the sun rose in the horizon around 6:30 in the AM, needless to say, it was beautiful. I shot a couple sheets but this location is in desperate need of a revisit which will hopefully be in the not too distant and bitter cold future. In other news, while tracking some Rainbow's on the White River in Vermont, my lil digital camera decided to settle itself in a lovely puddle, in the aftermath, its fucked.

when you hit stream side and a doe is but 30 yds ahead of you crossing the stream and an osprey calls out over your shoulder, it definately feels like its going to be a good day, and today was. With a count of 3 landed brown's and a close encounter with a monstrous snapping turtle, the deal was sealed.
My plans for Baxter State Park are sealed and set, just over 2 weeks and counting. also i have a great deal of work to update so check in over the next couple weeks to see what's what.

So I was out on the river the other night with Alissa and as we were pulling in to the spot we stuck in at, there was a very tall and very loud man to greet us and inform us to "get off my land." After being accosted for a good 10 mins by drunken banter they finally came around and buddied up a little chattin us up about the river and how "you guys ahr fine back ere, but I could'a called the cops, cause i know all the cops ere and I could'a called em!" (if you don't know the maine accent, this doesn't make sense) and then "i aint gonna lie to ya ryan, I been back ere since bout 230 throwin horse shoes and drinkin the beers so i'm a bit buzzed!" His name was "Craig" and now i have a friend on the Presumpscot.

Large Mouth Bass caught on Highland Lake, Cumberland Center, ME

I couldn't pass up posting this beauty, quite the tubby larry, I remember I could fit my fist in its mouth and there's nothin like casting out one last time on a cool evening and pulling something like this back.
So I've begun a series of ambient EP's each representing a body of water I've spent my afternoons and evenings falling in love with. Right now there are plans for atleast 4 in the series: Presumpscot EP, Highland EP, Pleasant EP, and Royal EP. I've begun with my most recent love affair, The Presumpscot. I havn't explored it fully, as there are many dams along the path, but from what I've seen its an absolutly beautiful section of this area. I have one song that I've been working on as to be a part of this EP entitled "tender stone (trot threw pine drone mix)". Its actually an alternate version of another song but if you like shoegazey loop ambience, maybe you won't hate it. Anyways, I'm very excited about this endeavor and will keep its progress posted.

So it has been awhile, I don't know why, but it has. Mostly I've been busy, I've been working Pre-Press at portland color for a couple months now and that just means tons of lightjet printing of crappy corporate signage and a little of my own from time to time. I like to occupy my time this summer with lots of canoeing and ponding and rivering all with a side of fishing, lots of fishing. This is a little Fall Fish River Chub I caught on the Presumpscott River in North Windham, just a bait fish really, part of the carp family, but this little guy had quite the belly on him so he felt respectable. Soon the anadromous brown trout will be making their yearly run up the Royal River in Yarmouth, a spectacle which (with some neoprene waders and no fear of freezing fingers) can present trophy browns and serious fight, needless to say i'm anxiously awaiting October.

so i figure (as has been said many times before) I should seriously begin updating, even though this probably has a reader base equivalent to a bathroom wall, but why not. Dare I say, an update a day? We'll see, many images to share.

so this summer has been pretty brutal...working every single day at the dirt cowboy cafe. not exactly the greatest of jams, but myself and alissa are getting an apartment in portland and I need a jobber up there, but i'm really excited!! but the summer has included lots of fishing, walking around in the woods, and watching red sox games and bad movies on comedy central. i also went and visited alissa in iowa and it was pretty granddddd. i've been making these cloud remix things lately, i did this one on the plane and detroit airport (pretty narly airport), i wish i had a real camera, i have nothing but the webcam ontop of my MBPro. bummer dude. but tomorrow my old bro scotty the body jones is comin up to vermo to hang for a few days which is going to slayyyyyyyyyy. oh yea, i also bought a truck, and it looks like this: EDGE!

i took a long and wet walk through the woods today, and stared at the white river for a long time, made up some metaphors using the river, a bridge over the river, the birds flying over the river, and the abandoned (i think) wise potato chips warehouse right on the river. ask me about them sometime when i'm givin out a thousand yard stare.

i bought a fishing pole at walmart today, i'm going to be fishing alot, i also learned how to carry my canoe on my shoulders to make the quarter mile hike to the river from my house and made some decent anchors using sand and milk jugs.

earlier i saw a muskrat that had been run over by a car on the bottom of my road. her head was completely crushed and her guts were spilling out of her mouth. i could tell that she had been nursing her young because all her teets were huge. i drove by it twice today and had a hard time thinking about her babies without their mother. i walked down to it before dinner with a shovel and buried it next to my favorite creek at my new house (its kinda the only creek, but its still a mighty fine creek) and fashioned a little gravestone out of a flat rock and said i was "sorry" that she had to die and that her babies might die, tomorrow i'm going to try and find the babies. it was a sad day for muskrats. it was a good day for rain.

i moved back to vermont. my life is in somewhat of shambles, i've realized things that are some of the most incredible realizations i've ever had in my life, i'm more in love than i've ever been, it feels incredible, but that love unattainable for some time. unfortunately for her, all i have is time, i can't do anything to shake this. so while i'm dealing with this way of life, i'll be trying to stay busy by releasing images hopefully on a daily basis (thanks daniel). i also plan on climbing mountains, hiking through forests, convincing hot air balloon owners of free rides, and of course, showing her how much i love her every chance i get. the summer's legitimacy weighs heavily on the shoulders of my ability to stay on top of myself, and i know it will be very hard, but i got nothing else to do but be the best i can.

its been some time, i've been in vermont enjoying the life of institutional liberation (by means of graduation). this past sunday was the event and although i was certainly dreading the time, the pomp, and the circumstance (which ended up being completely meaningless), the doe eyed graduates were lucky enough to have our speaker be none other than robbie conal. not a hero by any standards but his talk was certainly right on the money as to what i wanted to hear before i left my small institution: theres nothing out there and noone is going to tell you how to make something out of nothing, but you can still do it. although the way he put it was more along the lines of "theres not a fucking thing out there for you fuckers and noone is going to fucking tell you how the fuck to make something out of nothing, but you're fucked if you don't try." brilliant.

anyways, now i am back in boston making the best of it, all my friends are leaving and as of june 6th i have no place to officially live. all is well though as i started my internship at ep levines and my class starts on thursday. please, if you are within the greater boston area, clear a spot on your couch for a tired soul, my itunes library could be beneficial if not one of my many other services and resources. like this: an archive of cartoons on youtube. also, one of my summer passions is baseball, if you are capable, i will be your best friend.

since lately i have been taking lackadaisical rides on my daytodaycyle (being pretty much done with school and being somewhat unemployed) i like to give myself goals that are easilly accomplished and fit into my routine well. yesterday since i was batch scanning for my project my goal for the day was "stay clean when handling negatives" so i washed regularly, took great care in lining up my negatives, wore those stupid cotton gloves, cleaned all the negative surfaces and got some killer scans. todays goal was "efficient workflow" which was going to be sizing aligning and cropping all my negatives into one layer set so i could easilly manipulate come tomorrow. unfortunately the narliness at my school decided to delete everything off all the computers in the lab leaving me a day late and a buck short as they say. tgif is my new least favorite term.

it'll be ok, just sets me back a couple days but this is probably just a sign to tell me to stop fucking around and get to work, which i kinda have been. here's some of the stuff i'm in process with:
