For one book it will be about mermaids and unicorns and then the next book we read will be about a serial killer. Also, teens do read in packs and word-of-mouth is usually how teens know about the books they read. Within six months, I gaurantee! So when you're second book comes out, OMG!'s are everywhere, and you have yet another succesful book.

But say you are Scott Westerfeld. Not only do you have a succesful series of books, but you have three or four of them. Or five. And it works the same way.

I'm not even going to say that "you" are J.K. Rowling or Meg Cabot. I think you get the point I'm trying to make.

So girls read, talk, and shate.

Talk. I read your book because I picked it up at B&N because the cover looked cool, I read the back, was hooked, then remembered I was broke, so I put it back. About three weeks later, while selving books (I work in the school Media Center for community service hours), my libranian asked me if I had read it. I said no, but I wanted to. She told me that it was on the Georgia Peach award list, so she read it, and it was incredible. So I read it. And became obsessed. And got all my friends obsessed. Because of a list. There are only a few really good YA books now. There is seriously one shelf of books in that section I will read and have read and all the rest is about a ton of rich, popular, brats. It's like writers think that us teens can relate to those kind of people and we really can't. And, even if we can relate to some of them, we don't want to. Because teens usually read to ESCAPE reality. That's why your books are so exciting and fun to read. I don't like reading about things I can see for real in high school. So, please write as many books as you can because good books for teens are starting to become harder to find. And that's just my opinion.Mirandanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22327108.post-43632448492893409602008-09-12T17:35:00.000-05:002008-09-12T17:35:00.000-05:00I really enjoyed reading these last two posts, All...I really enjoyed reading these last two posts, Ally! It's really cool too reading them from the perspective of a writer AND a member of the teenage audience. :) And that's definitely true about teens reading in packs. I know my friends and I do.

On an unrelated note, I have a question about writing. When you first started your first book, did you start off thinking "This is going to be a real book," or was it just kind of a "hmm, I have this story in my head so I'm going to write it down and see what happens"? And when you first started writing, did you ever show your friends/family what you had written?Beckyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06637807057316162413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22327108.post-23656983524123330022008-09-12T17:30:00.000-05:002008-09-12T17:30:00.000-05:00Thanks for enlightenment.I like your answers.
