Maplesoft has been a proud participant in co-operative work/study education programs for over 20 years. Many of our students have come back as permanent employees (though not always after their first degree!), and all have gained valuable experience which they have used to help them along their careers. We are eager to open the door to even more talented, dynamic, motivated individuals world-wide through a new summer intern program. Come join the Maplesoft team!
Numbers and positions vary from year to year, and depend in part on the number and quality of applicants. Positions are potentially available in:

Mathematical programming and algorithm development
Interface development
Technical marketing (including the creation of real-world applications and demonstrations)
Engineering applications and toolboxes
Currently, all positions are in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Students must be familiar with Maple, with a demonstrated ability to use Maple to solve problems.

We are looking for undergraduate students in mathematics, science, computer science, and engineering.

The Fine Print
You should be currently enrolled in an accredited academic institution.
You should graduate no sooner than 3 months before the internship begins. (If you’ve already graduated, please consider applying to the permanent positions found on our careers page.)
A supplement for travel expenses is available, but it may not cover the entire cost of your travel.
Not everyone who applies will be contacted.
Students must be able to obtain a suitable work visa. We will help the student with our end of the paperwork, but we cannot guarantee the visa will be granted.
Successful students may be invited to join the softball team (ability in softball entirely optional), attend barbeques, and participate in pool, chess, or Scrabble® tournaments.

As part of a new offering from Microsoft, Members of the Northeastern Community are eligible to access E-Learning courses on-line at Microsoft.com. These courses are meant to help you keep up-to-date with the latest major E-Learning – Applications software releases.

To gain initial access to the Microsoft E-Learning courses, please follow the steps below:
1. Go to: https://business.microsoftelearning.com/activate/
2. Input your multi-use access code: IWOA80AA3B , (The code is case sensitive. Be sure to include the dashes and do not enter any spaces.)

MATLAB 7.1 (R14SP3) and 7.2 (R2006a) are not supported on Intel-based Mac (Rosetta) machines. MATLAB R2006b will also not be supported on Intel-based Mac machines.The MathWorks does plan to support Intel-based Macs. SPSS V11 and V13 not compatable with Intel Macs

SPSS does not support the use of any existing version of SPSS for Mac OS
X on the new Intel®-based Mac hardware. Some of the procedures result in
incorrect numerical calculations under the Rosetta emulation software,
rendering the results invalid. SPSS 13.0 for Mac OS X will prevent
installation onto Intel-based hardware.
The Intel-compatible version of SPSS for Mac OS X SPSS 15.0 for Mac OS X
will be released in the second quarter of 2007.

Overview
Apple has released Security Update 2006-003 to correct multiple vulnerabilities affecting Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, Safari web browser, Mail, and other products. The most serious of these vulnerabilities may allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. Impacts of other vulnerabilities include bypassing security restrictions and denial of service.
I. Description
Apple Security Update 2006-003 resolves a number of vulnerabilities affecting Mac OS X, OS X Server, Safari web browser, Mail, and other products. Further details are available in the individual Vulnerability Notes.
II. Impact
The impacts of these vulnerabilities vary. For information about specific impacts, please see the Vulnerability Notes. Potential consequences include remote execution of arbitrary code or commands, bypass of security restrictions, and denial of service.
III. Solution
Install an update
Install Apple Security Update 2006-003. This and other updates are available via Apple Update.
Disable "Open 'safe' files after downloading"

For additional protection, disable the option to "Open 'safe' files after downloading," as specified in "Securing Your Web Browser."
