Tels...Great post, and one that's right up my alley. Telstar is one of my favorite songs of all time, and was #1 in the US the week I was born. You could probably add a hundred songs to this list of Telstar's descendants. I immediately think of Blondie's "Dreaming Is Free" or the Beatles' "Flying" due to their similar melodies and droning instrumental lines. Indeed any song that begins and ends with a sound effect owes a debt to Joe Meek and Telstar.
