Thank you for getting in touch.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">The short answer:</span> It's not you, it was a problem with my server.<br /><br />I'm in the process of moving to a new server, but it's taking me a while to upload 30+ files at 50 MB each. Please keep checking back to see if the episode you're looking for is available.<br /><br />I'm hoping that iTunes will auto-magically pick up the server change (it should) but since the inner workings of the iTunes directory are a black box to podcastors, I won't really know until the next time I post an audio file (in the next week or two.) But know that I will be checking to make sure that all seems well there.<br /><br />Apologies for the service outage. I am working on it, and it should all be sorted out in the next day or so.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/22049150-3070768762649155716?l=www.weavecast.com%2Fdefault.html'/></div>Syne Mitchellnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22049150.post-71207606337332003172009-01-28T21:50:00.000-08:002009-01-30T16:52:00.107-08:00Episode 36: Appalachian WeavingThis episode we chat with Pam Howard, the resident weaver at the John C. Yesterday my five-year-old son put his hand on my wrist, looked up at me sincerely, and said, "Mama, please don't work on Thanksgiving."<br /><br />And right then and there I realized what I'm <span style="font-style:italic;">really</span> thankful for.<br /><br />So today, instead of audio-editing, we'll be cooking pumpkin pies from scratch, home-made biscotti and mashed potatos. Then we'll head out for a Thanksgiving potluck with friends where there will an "adult" table of long-time friends and a "kids" table of young people that have known each other all their lives.<br /><br />There will be laughter, and too much food, and I will not be working today.<br /><br />Happy Thanksgiving!<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/22049150-1558230263876671639?l=www.weavecast.com%2Fdefault.html'/></div>Syne Mitchellnoreply@blogger.com9tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22049150.post-8424890136390748672008-10-31T21:53:00.000-07:002008-10-31T22:16:39.654-07:00Episode 33: InterweavingsThis episode we have the pleasure of chatting with Linda Ligon, the founder of Interweave Press, which publishes a host of magazines including <span style="font-style: italic;">Handwoven </span>and <span style="font-style: italic;">Spin-Off</span>, as well as many excellent books on weaving and the fiber arts.<span style=""> </span>We pay tribute to Peter Collingwood.<span style=""> </span>And Cally Booker shares her weaverly adventures in the end essay: "Fruit and Fiber.<span style="">"<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Resources (mentioned during the show)</span></span><ul><li><a href="http://www.petercollingwood.co.uk/"><span style="">Peter Collingwood</span></a></li><li><span style=""><a href="http://www.rugweaver.co.uk/">Jason Collingwood</a><br /></span></li><li><a href="http://www.lindahendrickson.com/"><span style="">Linda Hendrickson</span></a></li><li><span style=""><a href="http://www.interweave.com/">Interweave Press</a><br /></span></li><li><a href="http://callybooker.wordpress.com/"><span style="">T'Katch (Cally Booker's Blog)</span></a></li><li><span style=""><a href="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&amp;hosted_button_id=835700">Pledge a Donation to WeaveCast via Paypal</a><br /><br /></span></li></ul><span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />Sponsor for Episode 33</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://schachtspindle.com/"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 250px; height: 150px;" src="http://www.weavecast.com/uploaded_images/schacht-782136.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://www.weavecast.com/audio/wc_033_Interweavings.mp3"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Download Episode 33: Interweavings</span></a><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/22049150-842489013639074867?l=www.weavecast.com%2Fdefault.html'/></div>Syne Mitchellnoreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22049150.post-122032939047134242008-10-10T18:13:00.000-07:002008-10-10T18:17:46.500-07:00Peter Collingwood: 1922-2008It is with sadness that I post the news that Peter Collingwood passed away in his workshop yesterday. <br /><br />The world has lost a great weaver, artist, and innovator.<br /><br />His spirit lives on in his art and his books. Well, the wait is over!<br /><br />Today is the launch of WeaveZine, an online magazine for handweavers. It’s chock full of articles, projects, and reviews, there’s all kinds of weaving goodness going on.<br /><br />WeaveZine was something I dreamed up about six months ago, when I realized that there are just some concepts (like how-to articles) that are hard to do over radio. So I’ve been working hard to entice writers, and put together the infrastructure for WeaveZine. And now it’s ready for you!<br /><br />Check out WeaveZine on the Web at: <a href="http://www.weavezine.com/">www.weavezine.com</a><br /><br />Where does WeaveCast fit into this? Not to worry, I’m going to keep bringing you all the great interviews and personal weaving stories you’ve come to expect.<br /><br />WeaveZine just means there’s more online weaving to enjoy.<br /><br />Happy Valentine’s Day! Sandy Garbowski, muskox wrangler, tells us about these fascinating animals and how their Qiviut is harvested and processed. We visit A Weaver's Yarn, a weaving store in Fairbanks, Alaska. Then Della Chaney, a weaver of the Tlingit and Haida nations, shares her people’s traditions of weaving ceremonial hats and robes. Finally, we end up the episode, and 2007, with some weaving resolutions for the new year.<br /><br /><strong>Resources </strong>(mentioned during the show)<ul><li><a href="http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/books.html">Peter Collingwood's Rug-Weaving Books as PDF Files</a> (scroll down halfway)</li><br /><li><a href="http://heritagespinning.com/main.html">Heritage Spinning and Weaving</a></li><br /><li><a href="http://www.uaf.edu/lars/">Large Animal Research Station (LARS) </a></li><br /><li><a href="http://www.uaf.edu/lars/qiviut.html">Online Qiviut Store at LARS</a></li><br /><li><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0966828976?ie=UTF8&tag=weav-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0966828976"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="Artic Lace Book" src="http://www.weavecast.com/uploaded_images/21K46AP092L__AA_SL160_-791038.jpg" border="0" /><img src="http://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=weav-20&l=as2&o=1&a=0966828976" width="1" height="1" border="0" alt="" style="border:none !important; margin:0px !important;" /></a><a href="http://www.qiviut.com/store/index.cfm?target=home&amp;CFID=1829865&amp;CFTOKEN=73425145">Oomingmak Musk Ox Producers' Co-operative</a></li><br /><li><a id="static_preview" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0966828976?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=weav-20&amp;link_code=as3&amp;camp=211189&amp;creative=373489&amp;creativeASIN=0966828976"><em>Arctic Lace: Knitting Projects and Stories Inspired by Alaska's Native Knitters</em></a></li><br /><li><a href="http://www.aweaversyarn.com/">A Weaver’s Yarn</a></li><br /><li><a href="http://www.alaskanative.net/">Alaska Native Heritage Center </a></li><br /><li><a href="http://www.sealaskaheritage.org/">Sealaska Heritage Institute</a></li><br /><li><a href="http://www.sealaskaheritage.org/celebration/other.htm">Delia's Winning Hat in Juried Show</a></li><br /><li><a href="http://www.thebasketrystudio.com/">The Basketry Studio</a> (sells cedar bark)</li><br /><li><a href="http://www.ravenstail.com/Homepage/">Cheryl Samuel’s Home Page</a></li><br /><li><a href="http://uaf-db.uaf.edu/jukebox/Sitka/program/htm/artists.htm">More Alaskan Artist Audio: Raven’s Tail, Chilkat, and Basket Weaving</a></li></ul><br /><br /><a href="http://www.weavecast.com/uploaded_images/anadyr-705205.jpg"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://www.weavecast.com/uploaded_images/anadyr-705202.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><strong>Musical Guests</strong><ul><li>"Aurora Borealis" by <a href="http://music.podshow.com/music/producers/producerLibrary/artistdetails.php?BandHash=69440a38df3f1eb1c397f8181f3a83c5">Technetium™</a></li><br /><li>"Alaska Song" by <a href="http://music.podshow.com/music/producers/producerLibrary/artistdetails.php?BandHash=0b2940a5f6dea57ef28fe9ba8a507aad">The Buffali</a> </li></ul><br /><br><br><br><br><br><br><br /><strong>Sponsor for Episode 23</strong><br /><a href="http://www.heritagespinning.com/"><img style="MARGIN: 10px 10px 0px 0px; CURSOR: hand; align: left" alt="Heritage Spinning and Weaving" src="http://www.weavecast.com/images/wc_016/hsw-2.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><a href="http://www.weavecast.com/audio/wc_023_AlaskanWeaving.mp3">Download Episode 23: Alaskan Weaving</a> </div><div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/22049150-817625180150709069?l=www.weavecast.com%2Fdefault.html'/></div>Syne Mitchellnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22049150.post-60421261606963770172007-12-23T13:28:00.000-08:002007-12-24T00:58:32.150-08:00Episode 22: Knotted-Pile Weaving<div><a href="http://www.weavecast.com/uploaded_images/cutpilevideo-703390.jpg"><img style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; CURSOR: hand" alt="" src="http://www.weavecast.com/uploaded_images/cutpilevideo-703388.jpg" border="0" /></a><div>Escape the dreary fall days with visions of brightly painted middle-eastern bazaars.
