One of the reasons is that you see some really raw and pure forms of art. You understand what Picasso meant when he said that he spent a lifetime trying to paint like a child and why that statement is meaningful. Some of the art is really cool. This year, the artist reception is this Saturday (Rhina Guidosnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21811710.post-13454607353440948602008-03-19T08:53:00.000-07:002008-03-19T09:20:49.878-07:00Everett ceiling collapse photoYou may have seen the photo in The News Journal, showing part of the damage of the ceiling collapse at The Everett Theatre. Here's another look. Officials from the non-profit Associated Community Talents say it will be a few months before it opens again. But we didn't know what that might be. Minutes ago, we got the e-mail posted below, saying that the roof collapsed. If anyone knows anything, please let us know since we know how much the theater means to folks in Middletown and we'd like to keep readers informed. I've dropped one sad pound since I started trying to lose weight at the beginning of the year.I eat pretty decent food, exercise almost every day of the week but my downfall comes whenever I go out of town.I'm surrounded by food at events or restaurants and can end up erasing a month's efforts Rhina Guidosnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21811710.post-83356673607622332572008-02-27T15:43:00.000-08:002008-02-27T15:44:47.029-08:00Blue-Gold All-StarsToday the Blue-Gold All-Stars roster was announced and there are a few players from the midstate area: Blue boys rosterRobert Brown, BrandywineWayne Covington, NewarkLJ Dimanche, St. Andrew’sRon Giplaye, NewarkRJ Griffin, Wilmington CharterJason Hayward, CaravelFrank Kurek, ArchmereSamer Madarani, SanfordIssa Mase, ArchmereTyler Niggebrugge, CaravelPatrick O’Connor, St. Elizabeth’sDemetrus Rhina Guidosnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21811710.post-71253649700503866922008-02-21T08:25:00.000-08:002008-02-21T08:33:40.490-08:00Lunar Eclipse 2008 photosLunar EclipseLunar EclipseLunar EclipseRhina Guidosnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21811710.post-30077197353855477852008-02-20T12:50:00.000-08:002008-02-20T13:15:10.832-08:00New Head of St. Anne'sLast week, I visited St. Anne's Episcopal School in Middletown. In the hallway, I briefly ran into Harvey Zendt, the head master who is retiring at the end of the school year. His replacement, Peter Thayer (in the photo), has tough act to follow. Zendt, whom we're hoping to interview soon, will step down in June to work on international peace movements and the environment. I don't believe they work. But I thought I'd cut out some sweet drinks during the week and replace them with tea, which I'm not fond of. In the middle of assignments, I stopped by The Gathering Place in Smyrna and picked up some green tea, known as the dieter's tea.
