The alternative station only plays rap, and the rock station likes to stick to classic rock.
On top of that, we just recently got an extension of Air 1. Now, don't get me wrong here. We are all in this together and I appreciate that they play music that lifts up our awesome God. That being the case, Power FM has me spoiled.

Kutless followed by Thousand Foot Krutch followed by some harder stuff like Spoken and Demon Hunter equals an awesome song lineup.
Air 1 on the other hand enjoys mixing in some Bebo Norman and Brandon Heath. Again, don't take this the wrong way at all. I enjoy their music, but only when I'm in the mood for it. It's just that I happen to always be in the mood for some rock! lol

That is one (of the many) reasons I am thankful for Power FM. How bout you?!Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-28949535173912539392008-08-22T11:54:00.003-05:002008-08-22T12:52:59.516-05:00San Diego

Just about every year since Valerie and I got married I've tagged along with her to a convention she attends for her job and the great thing is that it moves to different cities each time.

We've been to San Francisco, Chicago, Boston and now San Diego. She goes to convention stuff during the day and then we see the sites. In San Francisco we sailed on a big catamaran around Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. In Chicago we went out on a boat on Lake Michigan and in Boston we took a boat out to see the whales.

We continued the boating theme again by sailing around the bay in San Diego. It was just Valerie, me, Mavis (our Yorkie) and our skipper weaving in and around 4 aircraft carriers, assorted tall sail ships, like the HMS Surprise, and a Russian sub. I was in heaven.

Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-62192421438560518512008-08-21T16:21:00.002-05:002008-08-21T16:26:49.065-05:00A Busy Day!

We had not one, but TWO bands stop by today!

Deas Vail stopped by to tell us about their upcoming album. I have twice and will be going for the third time this week. I'm not going to spoil it, but will tell you in my opinion this is the best Batman yet. I am a huge comic movie fan and to me this one is the best one I have seen with Ironman running a close second. I think that Heath Ledger played the role of his career. It is the best one he has done.

I am blogging about this, because I was wondering if there are other people that watch a movie with an open mind -be it an action movie, a love story, a thiller, or even a comedy- and hear from God through something that happened in the particular movie they are watching. I do all the time and was just curious if others did as well. I would love to hear responses from others about this....

Peace out.
WesPower FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-23800749410562780172008-08-06T10:25:00.002-05:002008-08-06T10:30:24.805-05:00G'Day Mate!We recently received this cool email...

"We are a family of Power FM listeners and supporters. I am blessed to be able to do both. Being at Power FM is great and also hilarious!! I get to be apart of the shenanigans that happen daily. I get here in the morning while Dawn and Chris are still doing the morning show, and while Jade takes over. We greet each other with our morning mugs of coffee and then it’s on with the day! Daily we discover a quirky side of each other we never knew. Everything from cheesy movies we are embarrassed to claim we love, to old board games we played, to likes and dislikes of music. Most of the time everyone makes fun of me for divulging way too much info and revealing the ultra-nerdy side of me. Oh well! Everything comes to light anyway right? Outside of the office I will do events. I haven’t been out to an event in a while, but keep an eye out—you never know when I will pop up with the Power Mobile. Did you get to go to the July get together? It seemed like tons of fun, but I had to hold down the fort here at the HQ, so I missed it. I’m planning on being at the next one, so make sure you are there! I did it though...conquered all the slides (even the really tall, steep one - much to the surprise of my husband, who didn't think I could do it!). It was great. Adrian, Eddie and Little Herbie were out there the first half and had a lot of fun chatting with some people who stopped by our table. Then, my husband and I got out there and hung out with Little Herbie and got to enjoy some splash time. I've never really been to a waterpark. I know! I have lived in Texas my whole life...just down the way from a Wet 'n' Wild-now Hurricane Harbor Waterpark. Never been there. The closest I've come was the part of Fiesta Texas (in San Antonio) where they have water rides. I never ventured onto any of the slides or anything - save for the one where your whole family goes down on the huge raft, and that was traumatizing enough, a story for another time I'm afraid. I'm just not much of a water person. I've had spurts where I liked to swim and I've been to a few beaches in my lifetime, but for the most part...I don't care for water all that much.

Well, friends, that is going to change this Friday! I am going to Hawaiian Falls and I am going to go down some of those slides and things... and I have a feeling I'm going to enjoy it very much! Eddie and I went out there a few weeks ago to check out the lay of the land and see how we'd set up for our Get-Together. I walked around the park in my jeans and t-shirt (and got a few funny looks from those there splashing about). I decided, after taking in the rides, that I wanted to do it! They looked like so much fun! I was half-tempted to go for it right then and there in my jeans and all. I didn't, of course (I had to come back to work). But I was definitely inspired to finally have fun at a waterpark.

Our July Get-Together is this Friday at the Hawaiian Falls in The Colony. We'll be there 1pm-7pm. Come on out and watch, point and laugh at me...or help encourage me to go for it (hold my hand?)! Adrian, Little Herbie, Eddie and I will be out there - and whoever else out of the staff decides to show up. So, come have fun with us in the water! You can print out a coupon from our website that'll get you in for the discounted price of $9.99. Not to get into specifics or anything, but it just feels like the devil is hitting us hard...a long string of things happening here and there to some of us that are starting to pile up. Good things are on the horizon, so inevitably some obstacles are coming up to get in our way. Just cover us in prayer, please. And as always, if you have a prayer request feel free to share it with us...we would love to pray for you and with you.

"You make me sure
in the midst of heartbreak and turbulence
that my spirit soars
only because it is Yours."
~ Relient K "We're Nothing Without You"

Jade =)
Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-14790117072330666872008-07-09T10:01:00.003-05:002008-07-09T10:21:21.413-05:00Independence Day Weekend, Part 2

All three of the staff members that went wanted to blog about the event:

True Freedom = Jesus was on Sunday. I had a great time. First off I want to thank Dan from St. Pats for organizing this thing and inviting us out. It started with a festival with food and games which was awesome. Some folks got the chance to see Adrian and myself joust. I think we were pretty fairly matched... But there is a video of us you be the judge. At 5 we were able to join the Life Teen group for mass. Which I thought was pretty awesome since I had never been to a mass before. After mass, the show got started. I had seen all the bands playing but was glad to see them again. Beyond Riches and then came Inhabited, who I always like to see, were really good. Then SDS asked to play before Manic Drive, which was cool. The bass player was not there though, and then there was an amp problem where I believe it caught fire... But SDS played right through and were awesome like always. Then Manic Drive ended the show and did not disappoint. They were awesome like always. I love those guys they are great. Also, our listeners were so awesome.... We had a bunch of you come by the table and tell how much you liked the station and I always love hearing that. By the way, SDS will be in town again on. Wed, July 16 in Azle and I will be there.

For those who rock for Christ I salute you...
Wes

-----------------------------------------

I had a blast as Emcee this past Sunday at the True Freedom=Jesus festival in Denison Texas. You don't see many Catholic Churches putting on shows but Saint Pats did a great job. I loved how there is a festival that is local that incorporates the true theme of what freedom is and how it is only found through Christ. The event was super long but really worth it. It was nice to see all the bands that performed. I sat down with Manic Drive and we caught up on on what was happening with them since the GMA's. They are releasing a new single soon off of the Reset and Rewind CD. The song is called Blue and features Kevin Max. I still can't believe they drove 20 hours just to play that one show then turn around and head back to Canada, they must really love Texas. They had everything at this event, water inflatable's, water guns, a mechanic bull. Wes and I battled it out on the joust. I think there is a video you can check out. All in all this event was a blast, they have an amazing prayer sanctuary as well. Before we all went home we stopped in and had some def needed and rejuvinating prayer time with God. The way Saint Pats designed this chapel blocks out all noise from the outside world. Imagine coming into a room that once you set foot in and close the door it is so peaceful and calm. It was the perfect size also, not too big but not too small. It definately brings forth the scriputre in the Gospel of how Jesus tells us to pray. Thats it for me be sure to check out the new all request show that is happening every week night from 7-10. Email me your requests at adrian[at]kvrk.com or call 214-787-1897. Ill write a blog on this later.

Peace Power FM People!
Adrian

-----------------------------------------

Okay...here's my first Power FM blog :)

I thoroughly enjoyed Sunday's expedition. We took a "little" trip to Dennison, TX and got to experience the True Freedom=Jesus festival. This was my second time to attend and enjoyed every minute of it! The weather was not bad at all. We were blessed to be under a tent right next to Seventh Day Slumber's merch table:) Just down the way from us were Manic Drive and Inhabited. The shows didn't start until around six and all the bands were awesome as usual. I got the chance to chat with Sarah from Inhabited and Seventh Day Slumber is hooking us up with the new Spanish version of their album. I had a couple of delicious snow cones and annoyed my peeps by shooting them with a water gun:) I know that really they loved it! The turn out was great for the festival. We were also invited to check out St. Patrick's mass and prayer chapel, which is a beautiful and peaceful place:) I'm glad I got the chance to spend time with some of my Power FM family and to take in some high energy bands that rocks out for Jesus!

I think I got everything, but I probably left some stuff out :)
Amanda
Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-76301612457608776352008-07-07T15:04:00.003-05:002008-07-07T15:10:36.526-05:00Independence Day Weekend, Part 1

The Powermobile was featured in the City of Sanger Freedom Fest Parade on Friday morning. Both of us were very excited to get the opportunity to see just how the show is put together and I was able to bring an item to be appraised.

Valerie and I might be on one of the 3 episodes that will be produced from the Dallas visit. An appraisal for the show was being taped just as we were being escorted to one of the areas on the set to meet Leigh Keno, (one of show's furniture experts along with his twin brother Leslie).

The set consists of 3 walls that showcase all the category signs like furniture and collectibles. They surround the center area where all the cameras are stationed and there are 3 positions where producers can set up the "on-air" appraisals for the show. What we see on the show in the background is the initial appraisals going on. The cameras can pivot to whichever side has an interesting item that the producers want to showcase.

I got to take my #1 Supergirl comic book to Gary Sohmers from All Collectors. He informed me that it was not an extremely desirable issue as it was published in the 80s. He did say though that I could probably fetch $3 and when I pressed him on the possible scenario that all the other moms in the world threw their sons copies away and that I had the only one left on the planet, he said I might be able to get $10.

I guess I'm not going to be able to retire quite just yet but I have managed to get about a 6 fold return on my investment. I did shoot some video and we'll post in on the website once it's edited.
Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-9140833161688872432008-06-27T11:39:00.003-05:002008-06-27T11:45:37.697-05:00The Wedding stopped by!

The Wedding will be playing tonight at Live At Mokah.

They stopped by this morning to chat with Chris and Dawn.
The interview will be up soon on the Morning Show page.
Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-86312885239047875692008-06-20T09:32:00.006-05:002008-06-20T14:24:05.396-05:00Save Me From Myself

I just read the book, Save Me From Myself: How I Found God, Quit Korn, Kicked Drugs, and Lived To Tell My Story, by Brian "Head" Welch. I read the whole 220+ pages in a little over 4 and a half hours. This book was AMAZING!!! It give you a behind the scenes look at the "rockstar" life that he was living as a member of Korn. In the book he tells of how hooked on drugs he was and how Jesus reached down from heaven and showed him that he loved him and saved him from the abyss of drugs and other things that were comsuming his life. I suggest you get this book and read it. A little disclaimer, he does use foul language in the book. You can find the book here. He has another book he has written that is not yet released it is there also. I will be getting it soon.

I will give a little background as why I was so stoked to read this book: Before I was a Christian the band Korn was one of my favorite bands and once I became a Christian I stopped listening to secular music and so stopped listening to Korn. Then a couple of years ago I found out Head, the guitarist from Korn had became a Chrsitian! I have been eagerly waiting for a CD, but the book came out first so I bought it and could not put it down. Then a week or so ago I found out he was going to be releasing a CD. His website is http://www.blogger.com/www.brianheadwelch.net. His CD, named Save Me From Myself, drops in September and his first single will be out next month... you should check out the book for sure!

Wes

[Brian visited the Morning Show back in October 2007, that audio is still available on our site.]
Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-85087090998059554372008-06-17T11:15:00.002-05:002008-06-17T11:26:05.521-05:00June Get-Together: Ever Stays Red

We got the chance to meet Ever Stays Red on Monday when they came to the studio. They were part of our June Get-Together at Bethesda Community Church in Fort Worth. The guys come from the Mesa, AZ area and are currently touring with This Great Escape (also from AZ). I don’t know why this fascinates me so much, but their drummer wasn’t able to make it in for the interview (although he was at the concert) because he was finishing up his professional slam-ball season in LA! I think I’m so interested because I’m so short and slam-ball would actually give me a fighting chance to play basketball! In case you’ve never seen slamball in action, click here for a youtube video of it. He plays for the Philadelphia team. Unfortunately, they came in last in this year’s finals…

Ahem, back to the band(!), you can hear the interview from the Morning Show page of our website.

We also had a great time at the concert on Monday night! The guys were awesome and loud! They have this really cool Guitar Hero-like video playing while they’re doing “On the Brink of it All” that actually plays the guitar notes along with the songs.

Thanks to everyone that came out last night and enjoyed the concert and fellowship with us!

Dawn
Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-57490388420488140252008-06-16T12:34:00.004-05:002008-06-17T10:34:26.189-05:00Collin Classic Bike Ride

On Saturday June 14 the Power FM cycling group took part in the 2008 Collin Classic in McKinney. We also had a break point for the first time and many Power FM listeners showed up to staff it. It was a great time of fellowship for everyone involved. For those of us riding, God blessed us with some cloud cover, a cool breeze, and a little rain. Those who worked the Power FM break point had the music blaring, the drinks flowing, and they said a lot of riders were happy to hear about Power FM for the first time. There were many ride distances, so if you might be interested in riding with the Power FM cycling group in the future be sure to check out the bicycle page under the station link or click here.Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2178846508071661754.post-64198681360745156482008-06-13T13:21:00.002-05:002008-06-13T13:23:15.993-05:00Wes' Dreams Come True

On Tuesday, Demon Hunter, Living Sacrifice, Oh Sleeper, The Famine, The Advent, played at The Door. I just have to say that this is the best show I have seen yet!!!! I was so excited about this show. All of the bands brought something different to the show. However, I was most excited to see Living Sacrifice and most of all Demon Hunter. I was not able to get a large amount of pics because the crowd was going nuts for Living Sacrifice and Demon Hunter. I am a huge DH fan! And they did not dissapoint! All I can say is I can not wait till the next one.

Wes
Power FMhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07709146550710490628noreply@blogger.com
