Note: In Greek mythology, the three gorgon sisters were monsters having snakes in their hair, hands of bronze, boars tusks for teeth, terrible grins, beards, scaled bodies, and gold wings. While the mythical gorgon’s glance turned the beholder to stone, a chat gorgon uses vile, redneck language in an attempt to destroy a chatter.

Before the Crosseyedmary gorgon can destroy chat hero Natchez, he instigates the gorgon to implode by having her reveal her true redneck self by lashing out at several fellow chatteristas. She does not hesitate to entertain us all with a display of the lowest form of pedestrian language used by any chatter that I have seen so far. This includes chatters from WBS Politics Chat, BigBob’s Chatroom, and here, the latest rooster’s perch for our community, the Boston Tea Party at sfwest.com. Unbelievably, her vileness has even managed to top the troika of malice: Zulz, BHL, and Prap, making them look quaint.

On the other hand, and by contrast, notice that her grammar and syntax are good. And her chat also benefits from being colorful and energetic. These are positives. In the end, however, her vile form of speaking, in toto, does not justify the use of such a high percentage of foul words, as well as those that are tainted, in everyday communication and especially in such a short chat. After gorgon Crosseyedmary suicidally imploded, her ghost went to chat hell where it continues to terrify the shades of dead chatters like Whipple and Copper.

I was not brought up to speak foul-mouthedly, but with the belief that the use of clean language benefits society and me. And I am not around people who speak despicably, but then I live in a university community where most are educated and, indeed, show it, at least on the outside. God only knows how many of them, if any, might be Crosseyedmary-like on the inside.

It saddens me to hear anyone speak in such a way so, while it also entertains me -- and is the main reason that I include this chat here -- I also include it as a good example of an unreasonably foul-mouthed form of verbal expression that Rightwingers need to stop emulating. Let’s itemize the offending words.

The directly offensive ones:

Assessment
In her chat of eighty-six words, Crosseyedmary employs eight that are foul and six that are adequately tarnished, for a total of fourteen, comprising sixteen percent of the vocabulary she used in this chat.

Also of note is that she directs her foul-mouthed invective, not to just one chatter, but to several, and to the entire male gender as well: Natchez, Txrenegade, Grrl, Henry, Dosset, and men.

It would not be a stretch to conclude that Crosseyedmary uses what many regard as being the language of a sailor.

Well, there you have it. Gorgon Crosseyedmary makes her inaugural remark with “go fuck yourself” to one person and wraps it up with the sweeping generalization that “Men are beasts,” perhaps indicating that she makes generalizations about men from too small of a sampling -- one in this case --, to justify her conclusion. *S*

Endnote: After Crosseyedmary read her chat above, she accused me and Natchez of altering her posts. This, of course, is not true: Natchez has none of my passwords that would allow him to enter my blog to make alterations. This restriction, therefore, makes it impossible for him to alter Crosseyedmarty’s posts. The chats are recorded verbatim, and I made no alterations to the content. Any editing was made by employing punctuation that clarifies, specifically to distinguish the chatter from the chattee: I added a colon (:) to the end of the chatter’s name and a comma (,) to the end of the chattee’s name.

But I suspect that the gorgon Crosseyedmary was shocked, perhaps embarrassed, to see a record of her own despicable language, so attempted to throw doubt on the veracity of her posts and on my honesty in order to moderate the negative impact her contemptible language was having in the formation of opinions made by others about her. Shifting the blame, a common logical fallacy, and one often used by Rightwingers, was here used by her.

In essence, she lied in her reaction, and I was surprised that she did not own up to her very own words that I correctly record here.

So it's not solely trivial. Of all the chatters’ chats that I recorded, yours -- the one about Tacitus -- is the most serious so far.

Sfchris: Tommy, in SF, straight guys at my gym ASK for gay guy's opinions. And (this is) not just about how best to work out, but how to get pretty for females. Hell, I’ve had straight men ask me about venues for dates, and what they should wear. Hell, I’ve seen gay men announce to the entire locker room, ''Boyz, it's Valentine's Day! Don't forget!'' There's a pretty common camaraderie between gay and straight men in SF. But that's just San Francisco, I guess.

SFChris: But I know what it COULD be like for gays and straights across the nation. I observe the future here. Or at least what I think it's likely the future will be like. No hatred, but mutual respect. Men are generally the worst in that regard. Women are better. Lesbian friendships with straight women…they tend to be more honest in the USA, I think.

Sfchris: Imzadi, basically here, some right-wingers prefer to talk abortion and gays to the very real problems we have in Iraq. Other right-wingers have been more forthcoming. I think they're worried as well. Little has been said about solutions regarding Iraq, myself included. I’d probably stick by my anti-globalization attitude, and want to promote alternative energy development on the scale of monies currently poured into war. But that's just me.

Sfchris: Imzadi, yes, karma. But we're both Californians. We can dig the highs and lows of karma. And America sent out some really shitty vibes. Now we're forced to accept them back. Let's start with ‘‘we know best what's right for the rest of the world.'' a measure we ourselves can't evidently accommodate. Then we can move to ''We'll FORCE YOU AT GUNPOINT to be like us.'' Hardly an attractive proposition, especially when it's based on lies and sheer corporate greed. Oh well.

Sfchris: We were good (presumably at implementation) when we were good (presumably at heart). We did beat Hitler, and for the first time (in the history on any conquering nation), provided the Marshall Plan to not only invigorate our former enemies economically, but also give them their own independence and self-determination. And they did prosper. Actually they prospered enough to become competitors! *L* That was probably our finest achievement in the last century. But those nations actually ATTACKED us, unlike Iraq (which did not provoke the US).

SFChris: Tommy, as in Greek tragedies, we gained enough hubris to create our downfall. It's sad but true. And we followed buffoons and idiots who were belligerent to their own ends, all the while pampering our bloated vanity.

Vanax: Sfchris: Small but important point here, but your use of “our” and “we” is attempting to implicate bad gov. or the atrocious decisions by subversive Bush. “We,” which includes you and I, of course, but you probably did not mean to implicate us in the replacement of the US Constitution with the US Patriot Act, we did not lie about WMDs, nor did we attack Iraq. It was you-know-who -- the fucktard in the WH’s unlit closets. I say this because I want to minimize the phenomenon that the idea often becomes the reality.

Tommy: SFChris, ultimately, I think it depends of a person's insecurities. If they do not fell secure about who they are, either sexually or from a self-esteem point of view, then that can turn a tolerant and open person into a fearful and guarded, of not intolerant, person.

By this info, you can see how subversive the pres is. Therefore, there is no need for El Qaeda to attack us: Bush is doing it from the inside. What do you call that, the 4th column or something like that? Just imagine, a subversive has burrowed all the way into the presidency. And you elected him. Be proud.

Vanax: Plano seems to imply that if the gov. received no income that it would have an infinite amt. of money for its programs, for example Bush's war in Iraq. Is this right?

Note: Subversive TV shows promote undemocratic and unconstitutional values. These can be defined as militarism, glorification of militarism, colonial expansionism, de-civilianization, putting wrong emphasis on the military, and tokenism for the role of congress, the people’s representatives. Patriotic TV shows portray civilians engaged in responsible civilian activities. But you let me know what you think.

Subversive TV Programs
The following subversive programs save the day by military means.

Stargate SG1. Three to four likeable main characters solve humanity's problems without consulting congress or the American people. They feel they know that the military can best solve problems, and in secret, hidden from public scrutiny, from deep within a mountain. Produces: Brad Cooper and – Bright. UPN-TV
Stargate Atlantis. The same Constitutional flaws as above.
Mighty Morphing Power Rangers. Another military group -- this one that indoctrinates children -- solves profound problems without the OK from the public. The unconstitutional premise is that the ends justify the means, especially if the solution is executed with flair, color, and excitement.
The Sixth Ring. The nearly exclusive focus on military doodads and plans makes the US look like a national security state that is unconcerned with civilian authorities.
The Unit. Glorifies the invasion of Afghanistan and, by extension, the militarization of civilian society. The producers plucked the phlegm-voiced main character right out of Keifer Sutherland’s "24." Today's segment (Tue. 3-14-06) ends with the man he captured for interrogation opening the plane’s door and suicidally jumping out. If this part was based on a true event, I suspect that he was thrown out so that he could not implicate higher ups, but now sanitized to make Bush’s war look good. The segment made wives look shallow and self-absorbed, waiting for their military husbands to come home. Throughout, the complicit wives congregate at home, obsessing over their husband's military jobs. They don’t tell their stupid husbands to stop being absentee dads. I guess this makes them stupid too. Stupid women deserve stupid men.
NCIS. Each week the taciturn, no nonsense US Navy commander -- with "FEDERAL AGENT" plastered in white on the back of his black jacket -- and his high testosterone, wise-ass crew, aided by a female Israeli spy, invade American civilian territory to catch a criminal not in their jurisdiction. The civilian police are made to look incompetent or silly, hence irrelevant, while his Navy has all the answers.

Semi-Patriotic TV Programs
These shows emphasize moderation in most activities.

The West Wing. A paradigm in civilian control; the president makes far ranging choices that impact all citizens.

Madame President. The first female president does the business and the scriptwriters and the show's producers make congress look like a collection of schemers.

Patriotic TV Programs
Patriotic TV shows are not about the executive branch.

Veronica Mars. An intelligent high school student intelligently solves crimes in her neighborhood. It's patriotic because it portrays her and other civilian citizens in a favorable light, doing responsible things.

Unfortunately, there are no adult TV programs focusing on members of Congress, the people's representatives. There should be.

There is a paucity of shows about the serious lives of the American people, outside of a plethora of police shows that are multiplying like rabbits. By their nature, they put ordinary civilians into criminal "sitdrams," (situation dramas) in an unfavorable light.

The multitude of comedies on air is little better; they put people into situational inanities. Because this is what people are not about, these shows make common citizens look shameful, degraded, and pitiful, hence unpatriotic and deserving strick control from authorities. No one seems to see control as a problem in a democratic form of gov.

Such a large number of police and military and sitcom shows, and an embarrassing paucity of civilian shows that treat civilians with intelligence, may indicate that society is generally more accepting about moving toward a police ideal and a diminishing respect for civilians and a civilian form of gov.

A warrior with Amazonian forcefulness, she slays all Rightwingers with flair and bravado that shocks the meek and makes Rightwingers whine.

I am sure that her genes can be traced back in time to when her female warrior ancestors, the tall blonde Amazons, as recorded by the surprisingly reliable Greek historian Herodotus -- and recently proven by Dr. Jean Davis Kimball, PhD -- overwhelmed her Greek captors, landed on the eastern shores of the Black Sea where they intermarried with Scythian men, members of an equally aggressive wandering tribe, to produce another aggressive tribe of nomads, the Sarmatians, who ranged from the current steppes of S. Russia in the west, to present day Western Magnolia in the east.

Her wide-ranging combat strategy is to use Rightwinger style of subversive chat against them in a deliciously patriotic way.

Note: Dosset and/or Natchez captivate Rightwing chatters as he outrages them. That’s why they have several derogatory terms of respect for him: Nutchezz, El Nachezeera, Asshole, Dosshit, Dossnatch. The more of these names a chatter elicits, in my opinion, the more significant the chatter’s chats are, and no one gets called more names, and more often, than Natchez and/or Dosset.

The usual Doss style is to not mince words and instead make statements that are direct and forceful. Sometimes a less mature personality appears. It’s probably a younger person, probably one of his children. But the usual person behind the handle is normally the same person, most likely a man, but maybe a disguised woman.

His use of superb syntax indicates an extensive academic education in an institution of higher learning, probably with some continuing education under his belt or in her purse, and perhaps teaching experience, which is likely lengthy, probably college or university.

It is suspected that he sometimes uses our chats, what we post, as a teaching tool. His method seems to be to project the chats on the large screen, giving his students opportunities to issue posts, interactively, in real time. He has left tantalizing hints for this and would love to learn more, especially his students’ reactions.

Since our chat room has to do with politics, usually, his broadcasts may be in a politically oriented class, such as civics, world gov., or history. I can see the benefits of real-time chat for students: It forces them to think on their feet, which fulfills critical thinking requirements, as well as to examine issues of current import.

But this chat could also be used in a basic logic class since his chats are usually oriented around the proper and improper use of logic. Less likely is his use of this room to expose students to a slice of Rightwingerland that seems to revel in its undereducation and ignorance.

He is mostly Liberal in his politics, conservative in his values, a Christian in the best sense of the word, a respected member of his community, seems to be a devoted family man, and most likely retired. He knows that there is a moral difference between waging legal and illegal wars, as well as war for self-protection and for profiteering.

But it’s obvious that he just enjoys practicing logic and uses our chatroom as an entertaining way to combat the lies and misinformation emanating from Rightwingers.

He knows how to use logic tricks’ fine points to confuse and anger his chat enemies, almost exclusively Rightwingers and NeoCons. It looks to me that he is most interested in getting chatters caught in logical fallacies and then pointing this out to them in excruciating repetition with minor variations which causes them to misspell words, indicating frustration. When he needs to, he can mud wrestle with the worst of them.

A popular and easy one is to bait a Rightwinger into performing ad hominem, this being an attack on the person, not on the argument. Its user is the loser of the argument. A typical statement to indicate a win to the loser is to say, “Chatter so-and-so has begun to call names, indicating that he/she has fallen in to a logical fallacy. This in indicates a weak mind,” or something like that. He also manipulates chatters into a corner where they are forced, by their own logic, to conclude either of two unfavorable conclusions they he knows they don’t want to admit to. This is fun to watch.

Because most of his time is spent catching chatters in logic dead ends, and his command of logic and comprehension is inordinately high for a chat room denizen, it’s difficult to understand why he does logic combat with pedestrian minds. I suppose the payoff could be an easy ego boost but this is just speculation, I admit.

Of the eighty or so regulars users of the Boston Tea Party chat room, he is among approximately twenty that make a positive impact, and serves as a role model in the areas of engaging other chatters, introducing newsworthy items that are interesting, and using good, standard English. One could mistake him for an English, logic, and debate tutor via example.

When he enters the room, he makes a grand entrance, and Rightwingers are awestruck by his presence and, later, are astounded by his command of the art of debate. He uses many of the tricks of an expert debater. Unfortunately, I here capture only a measly handful and feel that I have not fairly captured the best of Dosset/Natchez. For this, I apologize, and hope that you, he, and others can send supporting chats that demonstrate his brilliance. *S*

President Bush's Demands that Congress Confirm Judge Alito to the USSC

THE PRESIDENT: It's a good morning because I am going to lie to you. Any truths will be accidental. Heh. The United States Senate is now considering my nomination of that Judge Sam Alito to be an associate justice on the Supreme Court. Consideration means deliberation and reflection. I don’t want it to do deliberate and reflect on Alito’s qualifications, however. I want it to do as I say, otherwise I will not support the reelection efforts of any member of the Senate. As Americans saw in his confirmation hearings, Sam Alito is the second best candidate because I withdrew Margeret Miers, my first and best nomination. As you have seen, I like second-best. That's why I promoted John Ashcroft, that’s why I got myself elected, and that's why I am doing a second-best invasion of Iraq. My dad did it the best. Oops! I told the truth -- it hurts.

Alito is a man of bad character and worse integrity. He has more bad prior judicial experience than any Supreme Court nominee in more than 70 years. He understands that the role of a judge is to strictly misinterpret the law, and to advance my personal and political agenda. And throughout his extraordinarily biased career, Sam Alito has earned the tremendous disrespect of his colleagues and attorneys across the political spectrum.

This past Wednesday, I forced a meeting with a barely distinguished group of 39 former law clerks to Judge Alito. During Judge Alito's 15 years on the bench, these men and women have worked side-by-side with him, providing legal research, colluding as they were discussing and debating pending cases, and seeing firsthand how he arrives at bad decisions. Their corrupt behavior makes them badly qualified to endorse Judge Sam Alito for the US Supreme Court, but they are united in their strong, misguided support of Judge Alito's nomination.

Let’s hear the clerks' endorsements and not the number of thoughtful concerned citizens and professionals who overwhelmingly outnumber the clerks. In fact, Judge Alito has the strong ill-advised support of all 54 of his former clerks. If they were to disagree with his biases during a case in which he is presiding, he would probably disregard their opinions. That’s why they know him well, and they know he'll make an outstandingly biased and activist Supreme Court Justice whose background indicates he will work toward overturning Roe vs. Wade. I hope he does my bidding.

Judge Alito received the American Bar Association's highest possible rating -- a unanimous "well-qualified." The ABA based its rating on its assessment of Judge Alito's integrity, professional competence, and judicial temperament. We have seen important people in history have integrity, professional competence, and judicial temperament in their time. By this standard, I could have nominated Hitler, and the Senate would be expected to OK him.

The Bar did not assess his wisdom to do good. This is good for me. I hope he does badly for the American people. In the past, leading Democratic senators have called the ABA rating the "gold standard" for judicial nominees in just a few areas, not in the area of judicial wisdom and justice.

I had to go far and wide to find a few people who would agree with endorsement of judge Alito, but I managed to locate a handful, and I am going to make a big deal of what they say. I am grateful to having found these three to make my case:

* Judge Alito gained the endorsement of Pennsylvania's Democratic Governor, Ed Rendell. Governor Rendell said he was not pleased with the partisan way some of his fellow Democrats have handled Sam Alito's nomination. I did not ask him if he thought the partisanship was too weak. I did not need to hear this. In any case, while we control all three branches, only I am permitted to be partisan; not Democrats.

* Democratic Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia announced he was voting for Judge Alito. And he said that many people in his state were calling the treatment of Judge Alito by some Democrats "an outrage and a disgrace." Maybe they were all drunks and did not know what they were talking about. But he did not say how many. On the other hand, maybe they were criticizing the Senate’s rubber stamp approach. I will never tell you this.

* Another Democratic Senator -- whom I am afraid to disclose -- expressed concern that the Senate confirmation process in recent years has become "overly politicized, to the detriment of the rule of law." He probably meant that I politicized it and that I am a detriment to the rule of law. This is true and I admit it in this public forum because everyone is too scared to take me on.

I am citing what they said because I am too chickenshit to admit to thinking the same thing but too desperate to get someone else to agree with me.

The Rightwing-dominated Senate has a constitutional responsibility to hold an up-or-down vote on Rightwing Judge Alito's nomination. Throughout its 216-year history, the Senate has held an up-or-down vote on every Supreme Court nominee with majority Senate support, but I can’t back this up. Notice that left out the part about advise and consent. This is because I don’t want the Senate's advice because I get advice from a higher authority. I listen to Him. I just want it to consent to my command. This way, I can limit the despicable Senate’s power and enhance my own. Judge Alito has demonstrated that he is not eminently qualified to serve on our nation's highest court, and America is unfortunate to have a man of his bad integrity and misused intellect willing to serve.

I'm grateful to Judge Alito, his wife Martha, and the Alito children for their patience and dignity during the process. I apologize to them for expecting him to rule my way. Therefore, I look forward to the Senate voting to confirm misogynist Judge Sam Alito as the 110th justice of the Supreme Court and hopes he strikes down Roe vs. Wade and do it in such a way that he is not perceived to be an activist judge that he really is.
