It reminds me of how fast Molly is growing up into a young lady - she's definitely not a baby anymore (even though she's still teeny-tiny!) She wakes up happy and she goes to bed happy. Of course, she's 3, so she has her stubborn "no" moments; but for the most part, she just goes with the flow. On top of that, her sense of Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-42203923029366631702009-05-13T21:38:00.000-05:002009-05-13T21:38:51.548-05:00Monkey MollyMolly and I had an opportunity to hang out one-on-one tonight while Megan was on a long bike ride with her Daddy. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. First we took her trike over to the school parking lot and she rode around for a bit. And then she rode around the block and back home. Our neighbor Alexis tagged along - she's a bit older than the girls, but she loves to play with them. And they Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-16296969252226705162009-05-13T21:27:00.000-05:002009-05-13T21:28:22.976-05:00Hula Karate?Molly has also been getting in on the hula hoop action.Hi-ya!Ya!Ya!She doesn't really hula, but she can keep it up a time or two around. And half the time she falls on the ground in a heap of laughter at the end. Or spins like crazy. She is such a fun and funny girl.Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-9710391674756042882009-05-10T20:42:00.000-05:002009-05-10T20:42:49.323-05:00Mother's Day at the Park In honor of Mother's Day today, we took a picnic lunch to the park in New Cumberland. It was really windy, so our picnic was a little chilly and rushed. Afterwards, the girls went and played on the play ground a bit, mostly climbing and sliding. Even though the park wasn't very crowded, it was busy at the play ground - all the kids were probably trying to keep warm!On the way back to the car,Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-62103137567026988832009-05-10T20:31:00.000-05:002009-05-10T20:31:45.091-05:00Hula Girl Megan helped out our neighbor, Julie, with cleaning up her yard a couple weeks ago. After she got bored with raking, she spotted the hula hoops Julie had from when her daughters were younger. Megan tried it out and was intrigued. Julie let her bring the blue one home and she's been practicing ever since! With a little help from one of the neighbor kids, Megan has become pretty good at hula Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-59190635600064394912009-04-26T15:16:00.000-05:002009-04-26T15:16:39.639-05:00Sprinkling the GirlsSince today was the second day with temperatures in the upper 80's, the girls were begging to get the sprinkler out. They had a blast getting wet and were sad when it was time to turn it off. The neighbor kids came over and joined in the fun too! In the fall, Megan and I put them all into the flower bed out front, and we've been waiting ever since. Earlier this spring, when the little plants started to poke out, we were both so excited. Day by day, they've come closer and Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-19355334640259213872009-04-19T09:00:00.000-05:002009-04-19T09:00:44.356-05:00Meenny I'm not quite sure how we should take this. I spotted this hand-written by Megan note on the fridge the other day. It just made me laugh. Megan's reading has improved by leaps and bounds this year. She checked this book (The Ugly Duckling) out of the library at the beginning of the year and was overwhelmed by the length and difficulty. Now, she's sitting there reading the entire thing, by herself! It has been amazing to watch Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-27041729397787481592009-04-13T20:45:00.000-05:002009-04-19T08:57:03.376-05:00Look Ma, no Training Wheels! Two summers ago, Scott took the training wheels of Megan's bike at her request, and she did great. But then there was a school event that required her to ride around the school playground. For that, he put them back on, because her control wasn't quite that good yet. Then last summer, she refused to ride without them. But we knew she could do it...just didn't want to.So this spring, Scott putChristienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-80115989811375387292009-04-13T20:35:00.000-05:002009-04-19T08:37:46.330-05:00Easter MorningOn Easter Morning, the girls were up before us (as always!) and came down to dig into their baskets. The Easter Bunny had also left egg cartons out for them, but they couldn't figure out what to do with them! Once I asked "What would you put in there if you could find it?" Megan started to run around frantically looking for eggs.Showing off the stickers that came with a toy.Molly looking for Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-23926785880493561122009-02-21T12:29:00.001-05:002009-02-21T12:29:59.189-05:00Interview with Molly 1. Since Starting Kindergarten, Megan has been really getting to be a better reader. She now reads to herself all the time and reads before bed every night. Often, she reads till she falls asleep, with the lights still on and her finger in the book. When I come up the stairs at bedtime and see her light on, I'm always eager to see how she's fallen asleep. This time it really cracked me up when IChristienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-75379325877279152632009-01-04T22:19:00.000-05:002009-02-20T22:24:09.517-05:00Chocolate icing fun!The girls helped made dessert for one evening's dinner. They helped Patsy make cupcakes and then they decorated them. Megan confided in Patsy that she hoped there would be a little frosting left, so she could eat some....A dream come true...chocolate frosting right out of the container!Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-13630789268993939662009-01-04T22:15:00.000-05:002009-02-20T22:19:44.013-05:00A day at the ParkWhile in Arkansas, we had fabulous weather. We didn't even need heavy coats the entire time we were there. We took advantage of the lovely weather and went to the park one day. The girls had a blast running, climbing, and just being outside.Megan climbed all the way up the "rock" wall herself. She was really proud of herself for going all the way up to the top.Molly playing with her shadow in Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-56618882214777468862009-01-04T22:05:00.000-05:002009-02-20T22:09:28.046-05:00Fancy HatsThe girls had a blast visiting with at Scott's parents' house. Patsy has all sorts of fun things at her house that we don't have at ours like a piano and the fancy old hats that she collects. The girls loved them and had to try them on. They were too cute not to take photos of them :)Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-48911782059108523562009-01-03T21:42:00.000-05:002009-02-20T21:50:59.724-05:00Christmas DayWe really had a whirlwind on Christmas Day. We got up in the morning and opened gifts. We didn't get a lot of photos because it got a little crazy. The girls had a blast opening presents! Then while the girls played with their new toys, Scott and I got ready for our trip to Arkansas. Around 3 we headed out to see my parents in Mercersburg. The girls had fun seeing them and opening more gifts Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-13509189825423877732009-01-03T21:35:00.000-05:002009-02-20T21:50:34.423-05:00Christmas EveChristmas Eve was spent watching holiday specials on DVD, The Grinch & so forth. I made the girls and I all matching jammies - tees with applique and pj pants. They were so cute on the girls...Here's the tree all decked out with the presents after Santa's big delivery. I think the tiny tree makes it look like more than it really is. I love the twinkly lights in the dark. My parents were also planning to go, so mom and I decided to take advantage of the time together and do a baking marathon. We both brought our favorite recipes and lots of ingredients. We spent most of the day baking and had a great time together. The girls love him. When we first moved here, our neighbor warned us "Mr. Kitty is a grumpy kitty, be careful when you try to pet him." Over the past few years of living here, he's become less grumpy. When we come out front to go for a walk or to do sidewalk chalk, he often comes running to get petted by the girls for a few minutes. Megan decided to draw Mr. Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-39764324054794833792008-12-14T20:21:00.003-05:002009-02-20T20:50:27.006-05:00Christmas Card PhotosWe decided to try out hands at taking our own Christmas photos this year. I am really happy with how they came out. Here are the ones we used on our card. I had Scott take some of me with the girls, too. This was my favorite. Normally, we go out to the tree farm and cut a tree a few weeks before Christmas. It's almost always too big and needs trimmed down a bit. This year, since we planned to head out of town on Christmas afternoon, we decided to get a "pretend" tree so we wouldn't come home to a dry, needly mess. We picked this teeny, tiny beauty up at Christienoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-25416720006740258652008-11-22T21:15:00.002-05:002008-11-22T21:20:32.716-05:00Snow in November!Yesterday Megan woke me up at 6:30 am to inform me that there was snow in the backyard. Except it was "Mommy, Mommy! There is SNOW in our BACKYARD! Come look!" Followed almost immediately by "Do I have to go to school today? I want to go play in the snow!" She did in fact have to go to school, and the snow was all slushy anyway, so there wasn't any playing outside in it.However, more came Christienoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21400345.post-85774300233485420112008-11-07T20:21:00.001-05:002009-02-20T22:03:29.183-05:00Mixed Tapes Scott was cleaning out the basement the other day and he came across my box of "mixed tapes" in the basement. He was ready to throw them away, but I had to take a picture first. I kept a few "special" ones for old times' sake, but most of them went out with the rest of the trash. It made me a little sad to think our girls will never know the "thrill" of catching your favorite song to record Christienoreply@blogger.com0
