I was grateful at the time to the United Kingdom journalists who broke the Climategate story and I suppose to the Russian agents who hacked in and got the CRU emails in the first place. But now it appears that hacking was not the reason the information appeared on the internet:

Update: It has become fairly obvious this archive was not "hacked" or "stolen" but rather is a file assembled by CRU staff in preparation for complying with a freedom of information request. Whether it was carelessly left in a publicly accessible portion of the CRU computer system or was "leaked" by staff believing the FOIA request was improperly rejected may never be known but is not really that important. What is important is that:

There was no "security breach" at CRU that "stole" these files
The files appear genuine and to have been prepared by CRU staff, not edited by malicious hackers
The information was accidentally or deliberately released by CRU staff
Selection criteria appears to be compliance with an or several FOIA request(s)

We are now introducing Junk Science blog to our blogroll. Yet another blog that stays on top of the actual science involved in Global Dumbing. Unfortunately the globe has actually been cooling for the last few years and, if the Sun does not get more active soon, it will have dire consequences for mankind. No matter how the Global Dumbing conspirators try to spin it, the world is getting colder and it is likely that if you are in the Northern Hemisphere you have already noticed!

And now for a summary of the Little Ice Age In Europe:

Western Europe experienced a general cooling of the climate between the years 1150 and 1460 and a very cold climate between 1560 and 1850 that brought dire consequences to its peoples. The colder weather impacted agriculture, health, economics, social strife, emigration, and even art and literature. Increased glaciation and storms also had a devastating affect on those that lived near glaciers and the sea.

Impact on Agriculture

Lamb (1966) points out that the growing season changed by 15 to 20 percent between the warmest and coldest times of the millenium. That is enough to affect almost any type of food production, especially crops highly adapted to use the full-season warm climatic periods. During the coldest times of the LIA, England's growing season was shortened by one to two months compared to present day values. The availability of varieties of seed today that can withstand extreme cold or warmth, wetness or dryness, was not available in the past. Therefore, climate changes had a much greater impact on agricultural output in the past.

Fig. 16 and 17 show the price of wheat and rye, respectively, in various European countries during the LIA.

Each of the peaks in prices corresponds to a particularly poor harvest, mostly due to unfavorable climates with the most notable peak in the year 1816 - "the year without a summer." One of the worst famines in the seventeenth century occurred in France due to the failed harvest of 1693. Millions of people in France and surrounding countries were killed.

The effect of the LIA on Swiss farms was also severe. Due to the cooler climate, snow covered the ground deep into spring. A parasite, known as Fusarium nivale, which thrives under snow cover, devastated crops. Additionally, due to the increased number of days of snow cover, the stocks of hay for the animals ran out so livestock were fed on straw and pine branches. Many cows had to be slaughtered.

In Norway, many farms located at higher latitudes were abandoned for better land in the valleys. By 1387, production and tax yields were between 12 percent and 70 percent of what they had been around 1300. In the 1460's it was being recognized that this change was permanent. As late as the year 1665, the total Norwegian grain harvest is reported to have been only 67 - 70 percent of what it had been about the year 1300 (Lamb, 1995.)

Fig. 18 shows a chronology of dearth and famine in Scotland during the LIA. Broken lines are years with reported dearth and full lines are years with reported famine.

Impact on Wine Production

People keep records of their most important crops, grapes for wine-making being no exception. Ladurie (1971) notes that there were many "bad years" for wine during the LIA in France and surrounding countries due to very late harvests and very wet summers. The cultivation of grapes was extensive throughout the southern portion of England from about 1100-1300. This area is about 300 miles farther north than the areas in France and Germany that grow grapes today. Grapes were also grown in northern France and Germany at that time, areas which even today do not sustain commercial vineyards. At the time of the compilation of the Domesday Survey in the late eleventh century, vineyards were recorded in 46 places in southern England, from East Anglia through to modern-day Somerset. By the time King Henry VIIIth ascended the throne there were 139 sizeable vineyards in England and Wales - 11 of them owned by the Crown, 67 by noble families and 52 by the church (English-wine.com). In fact, Lamb (1995) suggests that during that period the amount of wine produced in England was substantial enough to provide significant economic competition with the producers in France. With the coming cooler climate in the 1400's, temperatures became too cold for grape production and the vineyards in southern England gradually declined.

German wine production also declined during the cooling experienced after the MWP and during the LIA. Between 1400 and 1700 German wine production was never above 53% of the production before 1300 and at times was as low as 20% of that production (Lamb, 1995.)

Impact on Forests During the Little Ice Age

A study of the tree populations in forests of Southern Ontario by Campbell and McAndrews (1993) shows how the tree population in Europe might have been changed by the LIA. Their analysis of pollen demonstrated that after the year 1400, beech trees, the formerly dominant warmth-loving species, were replaced first by oak and subsequently by pine. Further, the forest under study appears to have remained in disequilbrium with the prevailing climate of today. That suggests that tree population distribution takes hundreds of years to recover from major climate changes.

Impact on Health

The cooler climate during the LIA had a huge impact on the health of Europeans. As mentioned earlier, dearth and famine killed millions and poor nutrition decreased the stature of the Vikings in Greenland and Iceland.

Cool, wet summers led to outbreaks of an illness called St. Anthony's Fire. Whole villages would suffer convulsions, hallucinations, gangrenous rotting of the extremities, and even death. Grain, if stored in cool, damp conditions, may develop a fungus known as ergot blight and also may ferment just enough to produce a drug similar to LSD. (In fact, some historians claim that the Salem, Massachusetts witch hysteria was the result of ergot blight.)

Malnutrition led to a weakened immunity to a variety of illnesses. In England, malnutrition aggravated an influenza epidemic of 1557-8 in which whole families died. In fact, during most of the 1550's deaths outnumbered births (Lamb, 1995.) The Black Death (Bubonic Plague) was hastened by malnutrition all over Europe.

One might not expect a typically tropical disease such as malaria to be found during the LIA, but Reiter (2000) has shown that it was an important cause of illness and death in several parts of England. The English word for malaria was ague, a term that remained in common usage until the nineteenth century. Geoffrey Chaucer (1342-1400) wrote in the Nun's Priest Tale:

You are so very choleric of complexion.
Beware the mounting sun and all dejection,
Nor get yourself with sudden humours hot;
For if you do, I dare well lay a groat
That you shall have the tertian fever's pain,
Or some ague that may well be your bane.

In sixteenth century England, many marshlands were notorious for their ague-stricken populations. William Shakespeare (1564-1616) mentioned ague in eight of his plays. Oliver Cromwell (1599-1658) died of ague in September 1658, which was one of the coldest years of the LIA.

Five indigenous species of mosquito are capable of transmitting malaria in England where they prefer the brackish water along river estuaries. The anaerobic bacterial flora of saline mud produces a strong sulfur odor that was widely believed to be the cause of agues in salt marsh areas (i.e. Shakespeare's "unwholesome fens.") The term malaria comes from the Italian term "mala aria" meaning "bad air."

Impact on Economics

In addition to increasing grain prices and lower wine production, there were many examples of economic impact by the dramatic cooling of the climate. Due to famine, storms, and growth of glaciers ,many farmsteads were destroyed, which resulted in less tax revenues collected due to decreased value of the properties (Lamb, 1995.)

Cod fishing greatly decreased, especially for the Scottish fisherman, as the cod moved farther south. The cod fishery at the Faeroe Islands began to fail around 1615 and failed altogether for thirty years between 1675 and 1704 (Lamb, 1995.) In the Hohe Tauern mountains of the Austrian Alps, advancing glaciers closed the gold mines of the Archbishop of Salzburg who was one of the wealthiest dukes in the empire. The succession of two or three bad summers where the miners could not rely on work in the mines caused them to find employment elsewhere, which resulted in an abrupt end to the mining operations (Bryson, 1977.)

Not all of the economic impact was bad. The fertile fishing grounds of the present day Newfoundland Banks were thought to have been found by fisherman in the late 1400's who were looking for the fish stocks that had deserted their former grounds as the result of the movement of colder waters from the north (Lamb, 1995.)

English fisherman benefited by the southern movement of herring normally found in the waters off Norway. This increase in deep-sea fishing helped to build the maritime population and strength of the country (Lamb, 1995.) The failure of crops in Norway between 1680 and 1720 was a prime reason for the great growth of merchant shipping there. Coastal farmers whose crops failed turned to selling their timber and to constructing ships in order to transport these timbers themselves (Lamb, 1995.)

Social Unrest

Conditions during the LIA led to many cases of social unrest. The winter of 1709 killed many people in France. Conditions were so bad, a priest in Angers, in west-central France, wrote: "The cold began on January 6, 1709, and lasted in all its rigor until the twenty-fourth. The crops that had been sewn were all completely destroyed.... Most of the hens had died of cold, as had the beasts in the stables. When any poultry did survive the cold, their combs were seen to freeze and fall off. Many birds, ducks, partidges, woodcock, and blackbirds died and were found on the roads and on the thick ice and frequent snow. Oaks, ashes, and other valley trees split with cold. Two thirds of the vines died.... No grape harvest was gathered at all in Anjou.... I myself did not get enough wine from my vineyard to fill a nutshell." (Ladurie, 1971) In March the poor rioted in several cities to keep the merchants from selling what little wheat they had left.

The winter of 1739-40 was also a bad one. After that there was no spring and only a damp, cool summer which spoiled the wheat harvest. The poor rebelled and the governor of Liège told the rich to "fire into the middle of them. That's the only way to disperse this riffraff, who want nothing but bread and loot." (Ladurie, 1971)

Lamb (1995) reports the occurrence of cattle raids on the Lowlanders by Highlanders who were stressed by the deteriorating climate. In 1436, King James I of Scotland was murdered while hunting on the edge of the Highland region near Perth. The clan warfare grew so bad that it was decided that no place north of Edinburgh Castle was safe for the king so Edinburgh became the capital of the country.

In England, the effect of starvation and the poor condition of the country encouraged men to enlist during the War of the Roses (1455-1485.) As tillable land was converted to other uses such as sheep rearing, the landlords who organized the conversions became the focus of many hostilities.

One group in particular suffered from the poor conditions - people thought to be witches (Behringer, 1999.) Weather-making was thought to be among the traditional abilities of witches and during the late fourteenth and fifteenth centuries many saw a great witch conspiracy. Extensive witch hunts took place during the most severe years of the LIA, as people looked for scapegoats to blame for their suffering.

One of history's most notorious quotes might have been due in part to a rare extremely warm period during the LIA. In northern France in 1788, after an unusually bad winter, May, June, and July were excessively hot, which caused the grain to shrivel. On July 13, just at harvest time, a severe hailstorm (which typically occurs when there is very cold air aloft) destroyed what little crops were left. From that bad harvest of 1788 came the bread riots of 1789 which led to Marie Antoinette's alleged remark "Let them eat cake," and the storming of the Bastille.

Art and Literature

Writers and artists were also influenced by the great change in climate. In 1816, "the year without a summer," many Europeans spent their summers around the fire. Mary Shelley was inspired to write Frankenstein, and Polidori, The Vampire. Both authors, together with Byron and Percy Shelley, were in Switzerland, near Lake Geneva where Byron said "We will each write a ghost story." Percy Shelley also referred to a glacier in his poem "Mont Blanc" when he wrote "…and wall impregnable of beaming ice. The race of man flies far in dread; his work and dwelling vanish…"

Neuberger (1970) studied more than 12,000 paintings in 41 art museums in the United States and eight European countries to test his hypothesis that paintings would accurately reveal the climate record. These paintings covered the period from 1400 to 1967. He categorized the blueness of the sky into a three-step scale consisting of pale blue, medium blue, and deep blue. Cloudiness was estimated according to the U.S. airways code: clear (less than 10 percent coverage), scattered (10 to 50 percent), broken (60 to 90 percent), and overcast (more than 90 percent cloud coverage.) In addition, the types of clouds were observed according to four families: high, middle, low, and convective (vertically-developed) clouds. Neuberger separated his data into three epochs. According to the data in Fig. 19 below, during the second epoch when the LIA was at its peak, cloudiness and darkness prevailed.

Neuberger suggests that the similarities between the second and third epochs have more to do with a stylistic change in the third epoch to impressionism which produced hazy atmospheres and also to an increase in industrial pollution.

Frequency of Storms

Fig. 20 shows the number of reported severe sea floods per century in the North Sea region.

During the LIA, there was a high frequency of storms. As the cooler air began to move southward, the polar jet stream strengthened and followed, which directed a higher number of storms into the region. At least four sea floods of the Dutch and German coasts in the thirteenth century were reported to have caused the loss of around 100,000 lives. Sea level was likely increased by the long-term ice melt during the MWP which compounded the flooding. Storms that caused greater than 100,000 deaths were also reported in 1421, 1446, and 1570. Additionally, large hailstorms that wiped out farmland and killed great numbers of livestock occurred over much of Europe due to the very cold air aloft during the warmer months. Due to severe erosion of coastline and high winds, great sand storms developed which destroyed farmlands and reshaped coastal land regions. Impact of Glaciers

During the post-MWP cooling of the climate, glaciers in many parts of Europe began to advance. Glaciers negatively influenced almost every aspect of life for those unfortunate enough to be living in their path. Glacial advances throughout Europe destroyed farmland and caused massive flooding. On many occasions bishops and priests were called to bless the fields and to pray that the ice stopped grinding forward (Bryson, 1977.) Various tax records show glaciers over the years destroying whole towns caught in their path. A few major advances, as noted by Ladurie (1971), appear below:

1595: Gietroz (Switzerland) glacier advances, dammed Dranse River, and caused flooding of Bagne with 70 deaths.
1600-10: Advances by Chamonix (France) glaciers cause massive floods which destroyed three villages and severely damaged a fourth. One village had stood since the 1200's.
1670-80's: Maximum historical advances by glaciers in eastern Alps. Noticeable decline of human population by this time in areas close to glaciers, whereas population elsewhere in Europe had risen.
1695-1709: Iceland glaciers advance dramatically, destroying farms.
1710-1735: A glacier in Norway was advancing at a rate of 100 m per year for 25 years.
1748-50: Norwegian glaciers achieved their historical maximum LIA positions.

It was the 1800's, a century when both Darwinism and Uniformitarianism would raise their ugly heads and cast ripples, nay, giant waves through the scientific community. Those waves kept going, sweeping into other disciplines such as History and Bible Studies and on until they washed back through the place they had begun, Philosophy. It was a tsunami that has done lasting damage and I am among those who work to repair and rebuild.

Darwinists fear the teaching of Intelligent Design even while loudly crying that it is "not science!" No, it is not their science because it doesn't fit into a materialist (some say naturalistic - To-may-toe, to-mah-toe) philosophy within which Darwinism must be encased. Darwinism doesn't play so well when all possibilities are allowed to be considered and Darwinists furiously fight to remain the only players allowed on the field. That way, they always win!

Once historical documents were cast aside or ignored by the powers that be because those documents did not fit the Catholic point of view. These were the days of the Catholic-church-as-totalitarians, days that produced the Inquisition and also, eventually, the pushback of Martin Luther and the Reformation. Yet many old documents remained obscure by omission rather than nonexistence. Later, when Darwinism came into bloom, there came the need to find long ages whenever possible. New textural criticisms of the Bible (the JPED Documentary Hypothesis in particular) arose, not from better information, but because there was a need to find long ages and discount all information that indicated otherwise. Few "theories" are as twisted and unlikely as the JPED and yet it is satisfactory to Darwinists because it casts doubt on the veracity of the book of Genesis.

"The evidence presented here points to the following conclusion: there is much more uniformity and much less fragmentation in the book of Genesis than generally assumed. The standard division of Genesis into J, E, and P strands should be discarded. This method of source criticism is a method of an earlier age, predominantly of the 19th century. If new approaches to the text, such as literary criticism of the type advanced here, deem the Documentary Hypothesis unreasonable and invalid, then source critics will have to rethink earlier conclusions and start anew." (p. 105 of The Redaction of Genesis by Rendsburg (Eisenbrauns: 1986) as quoted by Glen Miller.

Unfortunately long-agers, there are many other historical records that help prove that the Genesis account is genuine and remarkably accurate. These are records gleaned from different cultures and eras, many by peoples who did not interact and had no knowledge of the records held by others. These are records from all over the globe.

I may have mentioned previously that Noah is recorded in cultures around the globe as the patriarch that built the Ark and was preserved along with family and wildlife in the Noahic Flood. Some of the cultures that have an historical Noah include Hawaii (where he was called Nu-u), the Sudan (Nuh), China (Nu-Wah), the Amazon region (Noa), Phrygia (Noe) and among the Hottentots (Noh and Hiagnoh)(Hat tip to Chris Parker of S8int). But now let us take a closer look at historical records, some of which have been ignored by the Orthodox keepers of the Darwinist flame due to their content, and see what we may see:

Bill Cooper, who spent 25 years in compiling the evidence for his book, After The Flood, and has authored The Table Of Nations (Creation Ex Nihilo Technical Journal) and other reference materials, has compiled a wonderful treasure trove of information from ancient documents and I will be using them during the rest of the post. All quotes below, unless otherwise attributed, are taken from those two sources.

I had previously posted that Manetho had mentioned Peleg and the Tower of Babel in his writings concerning the history of Egypt, and indeed Egyptians did consider themselves the offspring ofCush, the son of Ham, the son of Noah.

"Josephus writes:

'...time has not at all hurt the name of Chus (i,e. Cush); for the Ethiopians over whom he reigned, are even at this day both by themselves and by all men in Asia, called Chusites'. "

Cooper notes that,"The name of Cush is preserved in Egypt's hieroglyphic inscriptions as Kush, the name referring to the country that lay between the second and third cataracts of the Nile. This same land was later known as Nubia. Additional confirmation of this location is given in an inscription of Esarhaddon of Assyria (681-668 BC), who tells us that he made himself king of 'Musur, Patorisi, and Cush. Some assert that the name of Cush was also perpetuated in that of the Babylonian city of Kish, ostensibly one of the earliest cities to be built after the Flood "

A numbered genealogical table of descendants of Ham with each number corresponding to a paragraph of historical information is in the Table of Nations.

After the Tower of Babel, the descendants of Ham tended to move South and West, the descendants of Shem remained closer to their original homes and those of Japheth scattered to the East and North. It is my intent to focus on records of the descendants of Japheth, seeing as how both myself and my readers are most likely to have come (primarily) from that branch of the Noah tree.

JAPHETH

The name of Japheth as progenitor is found in many historical genealogies of peoples that have been passed down to us. For the Greeks, he was Iapetos. In Sanskrit (India) Pra-Japati (Father Japheth). The Romans called him Io-Pater or Jove and later of course, Jupiter. He was normally Japheth for Irish-Celtic and Viking lines but in the Saxon tongue it was Sceaf (!).

MIATSO PEOPLE OF CHINA

Edgar Truax translated the geneologies of this people, who had kept the genealogies for thousands of years before coming in contact with a Bible. Consider the line of progression:

Dirt (or "Adam" who was named after the red dirt from which he was formed) is the first man. Just as Genesis says that all other men were descended from Seth, the Miatso call him Se-teh. Other men between Adam and Noah (Nuah to the Miatso) are identifiable in the Genesis account. Unlike the Bible, Noah's wife is named (Gaw Bo-lu-en).

In Genesis, Noah's three sons are Ham, Shem and Japheth. In the Miatso account they are Lo Han, Lo Shen and Jah-phu. The Miatso are descended from Jah-phu. It is amazing that the same names are in the cultures so far apart in ways other than geographical. Amazing unless, of course, they are truly historical records.

IRELAND

"The records in which early Irish history is preserved have been masterfully set out and enumerated by Miss Cusack, authoress of The Illustrated History of Ireland, published in 1868 (and from which the above passage is taken). For her history, she drew upon an extensive number of manuscripts, many of which still survive, and are known under such evocative names as The Book of Leinster (written in 1130 AD, and copied from the much older Saltair of Cashel;) The Book of Ballymote (1390 AD;) and the Annals of the Four Masters. But two others received special mention, the Chronicum Scotorum, and the even more important (because earlier) Cin Droma Snechta.

The Cin Droma Snechta is now lost by all accounts, yet its contents were preserved by Keating, the Irish historian who wrote his own History from this and many other early manuscripts in about 1630. (See Bibliography.) The importance of the Cin Droma Snechta lies in the early date of its compilation, concerning which a note in the twelfth-century Book of Leinster tells us:

"Ernin, son of Duach, that is son of the King of Connacht....it was he that collected the Genealogies and Histories of the men of Erinn in one book, that is the Cin Droma Snechta." 3

The importance of this statement lies in the fact that Duach, Ernin's father, lived towards the end of the fourth century AD, which places the compilation of the Cin Droma Snechta well before the coming of Christianity to Ireland (and the oft-alleged forgeries of the Christian monks)!"

The Irish records include dates beginning with the creation of the world (Anno Mundi) and record the landing of the first colony on Ireland as 2520 AM. Irish geneologies begin with Noah, through Japheth, through Magog and some 24 generations later produce Riondal. There were several incursions from different groups in the Japheth line, including:

1) PARTHOLAN. The first person to colonize Ireland after the Flood, His people landed in Ireland in the year 1484 BC, Patholan died in 1454 BC, and the entire colony was wiped out by plague 300 years later in 1184 BC.

2)BAATH and JOBHATH. These two names also occur in the earliest portions of the British genealogy where JOBAATH is rendered IOBAATH. An intriguing thought is the possibility that these two names may betray the origins of the European royal blood. The very concept of royalty has long been a mystery, as has the reason why descendants of a certain family have always been set apart from and above the common herd. The royal families of Europe have always been interrelated to a greater or lesser degree throughout history and it seems very likely that the blood-royal began with Baath and Iobaath. The fact that here Baath and Jobaath are depicted as brothers, whereas in British genealogy, they are depicted as father and son, testifies to the distortion these records underwent in transmission. Their historicity, however, is convincingly demonstrated in their appearance in such diverse records as the Irish-Celtic and British.

3) EASRU and SRU. These two names, along with those of Baath and Iobaath, also occur in the earliest portions of the British genealogy where they are rendered IZRAU and EZRA, and again they appear to be the names of important founders of European royalty who lived before the division and dispersal of the various races and tribes of Europe.

4) HEBER and EREMON. The leaders of the Milesian settlement who landed in Ireland in the year 504 BC. From Heber, from whom Ireland derives its name Hibernia, are descended the great southern clans of Ireland, the McCarthy's and O'Brien's, and so-on, while from Eremon are descended the northern clans of O'Connor, O'Donnnell and O'Neill.

"The appearance of Magog's name in the Milesian ancestry is of great significance, for we saw in Part I of our study how Magog was the founder, or co-founder, of the Scythian peoples, and the early Irish chroniclers were emphatic in their claim that the Irish were descended from Scythian stock. This claim is confirmed in many points, not the least of which is the fact that "Scot" and "Scythian" share the same etymological root:

"Scot (is) the same as Sythian in etymology; the root of both is Sct. The Greeks had no c, and would change "t" into "th" making the root "skth," and by adding a phonetic vowel, we get Skuth-ai (Scythians,) and Skoth-ai (Skoths.) The Welsh disliked "s" at the beginning of a word, and would change it to "ys;" they would also change "c" or "k" to "g," and "th" to "d;" whence the Welsh root would be "Ysgd," and Skuth or Skoth would become "ysgod." Once more, the Saxons would cut off the Welsh "y," and change the "g" back again to "c," and the "d" to "t," converting the Ysgod to Scot." 10

The early Irish were originally known as Scots, of course, and they were later to leave Ireland and invade and settle the country that still bears their name, displacing and subduing the native Picts in waves and waves of invasion.

"The Books of Genealogies and Pedigrees form a most important element in Irish pagan history. For social and political reasons, the Irish Celt preserved his genealogical tree with scrupulous precision. Property rights and the governing power were transmitted with patriarchal exactitude on strict claims of primogeniture, which could only be refused under certain conditions defined by law...and in obedience to an ancient law, established long before the introduction of Christianity, all the provincial records, as well as those of the various chieftains, were required to be furnished every third year to the convocation at Tara, where they were compared and corrected."

BRITISH GENEALOGIES

"We shall begin this section of our study by considering the work of a British scholar named Nennius. (The term British means he descended from the original peoples who settled in Britain after the Flood. The modern Welsh are descended from that same stock.) Nennius completed his famous work, the Historia Brittonum, towards the very end of the eighth century AD, and his achievement was to gather together, and thus preserve, a whole series of documents and sources that collectively shed much light specially upon the early pagan (i.e. pre-Christian) history of the early Britons. 16 In the preface to his work, he tells us (in Latin) that he is recording certain facts that the British had stupidly thrown away (quae hebitudo gentis Brittaniae deiecertat.)"

British genealogies also begin with Noah and Japheth but it is then that they are descended from Javan, although some intermarriage with the line of Magog is later not uncommon. Several generations later there is Alanus, from whom the Franks, Latins, Albans, British, Bavarians,Vandals,Saxons,Thuringians, Goths,Walagoths,Gepids,Burgundians and Langobards all trace descent.

The British Kings trace their descent from Noah down to the first ruler, Brutus. (He was the first to colonize the British mainland after the Flood, and was Britain's first king. The land of Britain and its people, the Britons, derived their name from him. His wife, Ignoge, the daughter of a "Greek" king named Pandrasus, was married to Brutus against her will.) The line goes unbroken from Brutus through some well-known kings such as Coel ("Old King Cole") and Utherpendragon and Arthur (later fictionalized as the Arthur of Camelot and the Knights of the Round Table) and Cadwallader (The son of Cadwallo, he succeeded his father as king. Bede knew him as Cliedvalla, and the Welsh knew him as Cadwaladr. He died in 689 AD.)

Yvor was the last king of pure British blood, taking the rather diminished throne in about 665 AD.

Interestingly, Bill Cooper was able to use five different sources to trace the lineage of the British from Japheth down to Brutus, sources that include Virgil, The Early History of Rome, Geoffrey Monmouth (discounted by modernists due to philosophical reasons primarily) and Nennius.

THE SAXONS

"One of the most remarkable things to be noticed about the Anglo-Saxon genealogies, is that so many have survived. Not only have they endured intact the ravages of some twelve or more centuries of war, worm, damp and decay; they have also survived the ravages of kings whose political interests once lay in the suppression of such records, namely the Vikings, Normans and Plantagenets."

The Geneologies of the Saxons, Danes, Icelanders and Norwegians all trace their lineage through Woden (Voden, Uuothen, Othin, or Uuoden) who was a descendant of Noa (Noe) and all lines include Fin (Finn). Various sources miss one name here and one there but by combining them the geneology is illustrated and preserved.

All six Saxon houses trace their lineage from Woden (who, like Japheth becoming Jupiter, was turned into a mythical Norse figure as Odin) and that includes the House of Kent.

"The Houses of Wessex (Occidentallium Saxonium;) of Lindsey (Lindis feama;) of Kent (Catwariorum;) of Mercia (Merciorum;) of Northumbria (Northa hymborum;) and of East Anglia (Estranglorum,) are all represented and all are seen to have traced their ancestry directly back to Woden and beyond. Fortunately, Woden's own ancestry is also shown in various sources, and this goes way back to Noah through Sceaf (of whom more shortly,) thus providing us with an invaluable and unbroken link with the immediate post-Flood era.

The political supremacy of these various Houses fluctuated almost from one decade to the next, and the particular king who at any one time held sway over the others, was accorded the title Bretwalda. The East Anglian king, Redwald, was a particularly famous Bretwalda and it is thought by many that it was his grave that was discovered during the excavations of the Sutton Hoo burial.

Redwald, however, as well as being an East Anglian king, also belonged to the famous clan of the Wuffingas. This name derived from his ancestor Wuffa, and it demonstrates the seriousness with which the early Saxons kept their genealogies. Undoubtedly, Wuffa would in time have been deified as an ancestor, as were other notable founders of clans before him, and it was only the presence of the early medieval Christian Church that prevented this happening in Wuffa's case. For example, Geat was not only the founder of the Geatingas (Beowulf of epic fame was a Geating,) but he became also one of the major gods or demi-gods of the Saxon pantheon."

Upon conundrums, fools and thought processes

Preface: A man cannot escape this fact: His entire understanding of the world around him is contained in and emits from his own mind. All sensory perceptions are simply tiny electrical impulses that pass through nerves to the brain, where they are converted into what we refer to as smells, tastes, sights, sounds and touches hard and soft, hot and cold. No one knows how any other person actually perceives the world around them fully nor does he know that his perception of reality is actuality. We all depend upon the world contained within our minds to tell us of the world that exists beyond our own skin boundaries.

I find it odd that man is perfectly content to believe what his brain tells him about the world around him but finds it difficult to perceive the Maker of both the world and his brain. Some of us discover that God is all around and seeks to communicate with us. Others will not accept a God who has not erected neon signs in his own front yard proclaiming His existence.

We all run across conundrums. For some, a conundrum could be as common as which invitation to a Senior Prom to accept or whether to offer to host a surprise birthday party for a friend. Some conundrums are questions of personal morality, such as whether one should report a neighbor when it appears he is abusing his family or whether he should remain neutral to the people around him. For others, the matter of the very existence of a Creator God is a conundrum. Naturally, such a person would also find the existence of the Universe and in fact their own existence to be yet another conundrum and then the conundrums multiply exponentially from there. Atheistic scientists have massive difficulties with which to deal, as Douglas Wilson explains beautifully during a dialogue with Christopher Hitchens in the book, "Is Christianity Good for the World?" To quote Wilson:

"...I quite agree with you that we ought not to "resist evidence that may at first sight seem unwelcome or unsettling," but this is not a deep agreement, for we immediately differ over which one of us is failing to honor this quite obvious principle. I have shown that you have refused to consider evidence for the fact that your assumption of what the Universe actually is does not allow for valid descriptions of that Universe to arise from within it. If one were to spill milk accidently on the kitchen floor, and someone came in and wanted to know what had happened, the one thing we would be sure of is that such an enquiring mind wouldn't ask the milk. The milk wouldn't know. It's the accident!"

You see, the existence of the Universe is not a conundrum to those who accept the idea of a Creator God. If God created the Universe, then the existence of said Universe is not unreasonable. That the Universe obeys sets of laws and that the systems within said Universe seem to follow logical patterns is to be expected, since a Logical Mind thought it up in the first place. That living creatures would all carry the imprimateur of their Maker (DNA) would also be unsurprising. In fact, great scientific minds such as Newton and Mendel and Lord Kelvin were certain that God had created the Universe and all things within it and were therefore willing to study said Universe with a reasonable expectation that they would find logical answers to their questioning minds.

The milk doesn't know, but the one who held the glass would have the answers. Correct? Capiche? Comprende? If the Universe is an accident, by what right would anyone expect it to be comprehensible or logical? If the Universe simply happened by random circumstance as a side effect of chaotic existence, then order would be unexpected and logic would be rare if not impossible. Order comes from order, chaos arises from chaos. This is why we expect tornadoes to destroy houses rather than build them, why hurricanes wreck ships rather than construct them and why one does not throw pieces of glass to the floor in the hopes that a vase will be made thereby.

I was reminded of a post from some time ago, this one about natural selection and canards, because some spammer posted an ad in the comments and I had to go erase it (the spam).

Excerpt in italics:

"I have done the due diligence to understand the basics of Darwinism, although I now disagree with the concept. I have studied hopeful monsters, punctuated equilibrium, phylogenitic trees and bushes, natural selection in conjunction with mutation, the whole big mess. In fact, I was once a believer in it, and that is one reason why I know it pretty well and also why the absurdity of the concept is so obvious to me now.

One commenter admitted his prejudices up front, at least, although he himself is blind to his own handicap:

Commenter: "Naturalistic materialism is of course the default setting for scientific work, regardless of whether it's carried out by an atheist or a member of any religion you care to name."

Gee, I bet Copernicus and Newton and Lord Kelvin and most of the great scientists of the last millenium would be surprised to learn that they just didn't understand science and made the awful mistake of believing that, since the Universe was created by a logical being, it would have consistent and logical laws of operation that could be discovered and used by mankind to understand and utilize nature better.

No God, no basis for even being certain that there is a real creation. Could we not be a dream within a dream? Those who do not believe that a logical God created a logical Universe, by what line of thinking do they come to the idea that natural laws exist and can be discovered? In point of fact, scientists who believed in God dominated science in the last one thousand years and it is they who came up with the scientific method and made the foundational discoveries of science that today's scientists take as givens."

Going back to that time reminded me of an entire set of commenters who have since moved on to other things. Getting on with his life, I suppose, and hopefully still drawing breath is a blogger who authored the Pooflingers blog. There have been no posts there since November so perhaps Matt has given the project a rest. After all, there is a time in a boy's life when saying "poop" in public is hilariously funny, maybe until second grade or so (much older if marijuana is involved) and then the boy eventually becomes a man. Matt at Poofllingers was quite good at congratulating himself for having slain the so-very-stupid radar at the game of logic when writing on his own blog. However he was quite unable to carry on a serious discussion for long in the comments page on my blog because unfortunately his condition prevented him from seeing his own folly. In the world of the atheistic scientist, the Law of Abiogenesis and the laws of thermodynamics and in fact many laws of operational science are abandoned for a game of what ifs and just supposes. The fool is inevitably drawn back to his folly.

The Folly

First, there is a big difference between idiocy, ignorance and folly. Someone who has an insufficient mental capacity might be described as an idiot. However, someone who is capable mentally but does not care to learn about a particular subject could be described as ignorant. I am not an idiot, but I do not know a great deal about floral gardening. I do not know which flowers are annuals and which are perennials nor do I much care. I leave that aspect of the appearance of our home to my wife so I am willingly ignorant about flowers. My wife does know which will spring up again and which she must purchase and plant each year, so she is not ignorant in this area of expertise.

Folly is the particular condition of fools. The man with the highest intellect living on the planet today may well be a fool. There are plenty of people at all levels of intelligence who are fools and plenty who are not. Matt the former Pooflinger may well be more intelligent that I am but at least back in those days he was also a fool. The Bible describes a fool thusly:

Psalms 14:1 (NKJV) The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”

So by Biblical standards, an atheistic scientist is a fool. He cannot believe that God created the Universe nor can he believe that God created all life. He is unable to conceive of the Noahic Flood as a real event nor does he take the Book of Genesis as history. So he must concoct long and unreasonable and incredibly and absurdly complex explanations for how everything came from nothing (in complete opposition to the findings of operation science), how life came from non-life (again disputed by operational science) and how there happen to be millions of different forms of life that all use the same basic blueprint to reproduce and exist.

In one way, I was sorry to see most of the foolish commenters leave because they provided a foil for my posts and sometimes actually had an actual point to make that caused me to review my beliefs on a particular matter. I did toss out all of Russ Humphrey's and Josh Hartnett's conjectures concerning God-driven big bangs and white holes in part due to commenter feedback and thereby simplified and solidified my stance on light and the week of creation.

I am most sorry that so many scientists are fools because so many resources are devoted to foolish pursuits like attempts to prove evolution (macroevolution), stifle creationism and locate alien intelligence. There are entire agencies devoted to keeping any teaching of creation science out of schools, for instance. Is this not darkness raging against the light? Think of all the radio telescopes pointed outwards towards the stars continually searching for an intelligent pattern amongst the noises of outer space? Suppose these people and these billions of dollars and hours had been devoted to finding more uses for the noses of dogs besides tracking and sniffing for explosives and drugs, more cures for diseases drawn from plants and animals, better and more efficient energy usage and et cetera? What if time and effort was being spent studying how weather patterns are driven by the sun and the oceans and clouds rather than trying to prove that mankind is artificially warming up a planet that has been cooling for the last nine years?

What shall we therefore do?

Most of us can have little or no effect on the ruling paradigm but we can make sure our own thinking is logical and anyone that we may mentor or teach is taught logically and honestly. For this to be true requires us to be true to ourselves and make sure our own thinking is logical and honest.

This brings me to yet another life experience. Most jobs have shortcuts and specialized knowledge that is particular to the job. Before the invention of the air-powered nail gun I could have determined whether a man was a carpenter or not by simply listening to the sound of him pounding in a normal construction grade nail into a couple of two-by-fours. Before nail guns, no carpenter worth his salt took more than two or at the most three strokes to drive a nail. Most could do it with one small stroke to set the nail and one to drive it in. Amateurs might take five, six or seven hits with a hammer to drive in the same nail.

I might still be able to sort carpenters from non-carpenters by simply asking one to measure something with a 25 foot tape measure and then observing how he retracts the tape. Anyone who does not put his index finger under the lip of the opening to absorb the shock of the metal tape-end retracting into the measure is obviously not a carpenter. A person who does this is at least used to using the tool and therefore might be a carpenter.

A person who works in the field of steel tubing production would know what a turkhead is and also what a floop is whereas the typical man in the street would have no idea. Because I have worked in many fields working jobs that got me covered in grime from head to foot and also working jobs that required that I wear a suit and tie I have had the opportunity to learn a lot of things that I have been able to apply to life lessons for my children, my grandchildren and my students. Which brings me to the first job I ever worked that issued me a paycheck...as a charcoal grill steak chef.

The administration of meats

Without going into long, boring detail, a steak in the possession of the grill chef had two possible destinations - a plate or the garbage. While in process said steak would be kept in one of four possible places - the meat locker, the small refrigerator next to the grill, the front part of the grill where the coals were hot and the back portion where the coals were simply warm. To simplify the discussion we can call the last two spots the front burner and the back burner.

Steaks kept too long in the meat locker would begin to go stale after a long time. Steaks kept in the upstairs fridge went bad quickly. Steaks cooked on the front burner were prepared to order and served. Any steak put aside on the back burner temporarily while another steak for the same table was being cooked would remain in the same state for a short period of time. But if a steak was put back there and forgotten it would get overcooked and dried out and suitable only for the garbage.

(As an aside, steaks that began to go bad were scraped and cooked when a well-done steak was ordered. In other words, I was told to use the oldest meat for well-done steaks, since these were the ones that were frankly being overcooked anyway and it was thought the customer would not notice any problems with the meat. They never did. So if you like steaks well-cooked, you would be wiser to order a steak medium-well rather than well done just in case that particular steakhouse has a similar policy.)

Steaks, like conundrums, eventually went one of two places. They were either served to consume or they wound up in the garbage. Yes, sometimes a top steak had been left unused for so long it was obviously too spoiled to cook and it would have to be thrown out. Before a steak was served it would be in the meat locker, the fridge, the front burner or the back burner (actually the hot part of the grill or the warm part of the grill)

People like to think that they do one of two things with conundrums, either solve them by thinking them through or that they put them aside "on the back burner." But that is not true. The back burner is where you put steaks that are about ready and there they are kept warm until the rest of the order is ready to be served. When a thought is put on the back burner it is sitting there waiting to be addressed while your mind deals with an immediate problem and it is then moved right back to the front burner for processing.

What people actually do with conundrums is put them back in the fridge, where they remain. If meat stays in the fridge for a long period of time it spoils. When people put conundrums aside for long periods of time, much of the information and thought processes that went along with that conundrum are forgotten and that conundrum is never again placed on the front burner but rather it is eventually tossed aside. The world is full of people who have tossed aside difficult issues, preferring not to think of them at all. It is rather interesting to note their reactions when you bring up something that is for them a conundrum. You often get angry or evasive answers from them and often they will say something like "I put that on the back burner because I just don't know what to think" and what follows is an explanation that boils down to "I don't know so I am just going to go along with what the group thinks."

Groupthink is most often stupid, witness the current US Administration and the steady media drumbeat for the faked global warming 'threat' which is in fact a pack of deliberate lies and misapprehensions. Actors appear in commercials asking for donations to save the Polar Bears when the population thereof is actually growing and thriving. How many statisticians saw the "hockey stick" graph and knew that it was a fake but kept quiet because they did not wish to go against the flow? Shame on all of you who knew better but kept quiet!

Cook your conundrums!

Those who are wise do not allow conundrums to be forever placed in the fridge, nor do they cast them aside to seek out new thoughts from the meat locker of life. A conundrum should be placed on the grill and cooked until done. If you set it aside for a more pressing matter you had best address it again and soon. Meat left on the back of my grill unused would get overdone and dried out and would be fit only for the garbage. Why allow the challenging questions of the day to go unanswered? Is ignorance actually bliss? I think not. Ignorance tends to lead people to make bad choices. People who are ignorant about driving on snow and ice wind up in the ditch if not the morgue. People unaware of dangerous neighborhoods wind up getting mugged and their goods taken from them.

Most times when someone tells me that they have put a concept "on the back burner" I know they frankly do not wish to think about it at all. People have the right to be willfully ignorant. But it is irresponsible of them to assert that they believe what the group believes and yet be unwilling and unable to defend their position.

Application to Science

As I have pointed out many times, there are various canards that are passed off as good science. There is no scientist alive today who can fully explain and defend a Big Bang scenario that fits the evidence. There is no scientist who can tell you how life might have come from non-life and not one of them can demonstrate a single creature that has evolved observably from a different kind of creature. Macroevolution, the beginning of life and the beginning of all material existence - all of these are explained by fairy tales that are both untestable and unproven and yet the majority of the scientists in the world at least profess to believe in them. That it is career suicide to assert a belief in God as Creator of all things means that quite a few scientists who actually believe in God keep it on the down low, at least until they either have tenure or enough grant money or fame to withstand the censure of their peers. Go watch the movie, EXPELLED (no intelligence allowed), with an open mind before you assert otherwise.

Christians are among the worst offenders when it comes to back burner thinking. How ironic that Jesus declared Himself (in the book of Revelation) to be "Alpha and Omega" and yet it is the first and last books of the Bible that are most often subject to mindless groupthink and contain the major back burner issues of Christianity. Perhaps the two most controversial subjects amongst normal Christians are how to apply what God says in the first book of the Bible and in the last. There are few points of view more groundless than that of a theistic evolutionist who claims to be a Christian, for instance. If God had allowed death to go on for millions of years and man to have evolved, then the story of Adam and Eve and The Fall would be a fairy tale and Jesus Christ would have no basis for ever being born into the world, no reason to say what He said, no point in allowing Himself to be crucified and no benefit to anyone else when arising alive from death three days later. But Christians who believe in evolution are unwilling to carefully study the matter and back burner their questions.

Christian friend, lets be brutally honest. Do you put more trust in the views of Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins and a host of secular scientists who assert that evolution surely happened or do you believe the Word of God? You cannot have it both ways. God asserted that He created in six days, that Adam and Eve were real people and that the Flood destroyed and remade the environment. The lineage of Christ begins with Adam and includes Noah. Jesus spoke on and believed in the books compiled by Moses, preached that Adam and Noah were real people, referred to the Flood and quoted from virtually every book of the Old Testament. Jesus believed that the world was created in six days and in fact eventually asserted that He was the one who did the actual creating. John also declares this in the first chapter of his gospel. You will find references to the Flood and other Old Testament events in the writings of Peter and Luke and Paul and Mark and Matthew. The Bible says that you cannot serve God and Mammon. It is also true that you cannot believe both Christ and Darwin. Not without being completely illogical and deceptive in your own mind. Decide whether you will put your trust in God or men and then follow through accordingly but don't try to mix them together.

As Genesis is a difficult book for Christians who do not have this question settled in their minds, so too is the book of Revelation. Groupthink lately has made the attempt to convert the prophetic language and cryptic message of the Revelation of John into a literal description of a bizarrre future end-times world where stars literally fall to the earth and strange creatures torment men who are quite unable to resort to death as an escape from the pain and confusion. Thousands, no, tens of thousands of phony prophetic teachers have sucked millions of dollars from the wallets of ignorant masses by using false doctrines to obtain donations and vows and pledges from the masses. Perhaps the two most powerful weapons used by such men have been the prosperity gospel (Jesus wants you to be rich and completely healthy above all else!) and the use of the language of prophetic books for evil ends (God has given me the meaning of these passages and only I can tell you what it means and what you should do and when the end of the world shall be).

Guys, Jesus Christ Himself said that no man knows the day or the hour of His Coming or the end of the world. Yet Christ did proclaim that a certain end was about to come, an event that would take place within the generation of hearers as he spoke in Matthew chapter 24. Logically the events he foretold would have to be within about forty years or so of the day that he spoke the words or else Jesus would have been mistaken. Could Jesus have been wrong? Or was he speaking about events that actually would "soon" take place?

Within about forty years of the day of the death of Jesus on the cross, the city of Jerusalem was largely destroyed by Roman soldiers and the temple was thrown down stone-by-stone as the soldiers sought to collect any gold that might have melted down between the cracks of the massive stones by which the temple had been made. Only a small section of the foundation of the temple remains, all of the temple itself was torn down just as Jesus had predicted. There is a lot of good evidence that Revelation is a message from God through John to all Christians living in and around Jersusalem to flee the area before the events of AD 67-70 would take place.

Prophetic language used by John in Revelation is often an echo of language used in Daniel and Jeremiah and Ezekiel and other prophets and signified a fulfillment of the Words of Jesus that was about to take place. The language and numbers were familiar to those who had studied the Old Testament but would be gibberish to an untutored Roman so John's message was one that both Christians and Jews of the time could understand and served to warn many believers away from the slaughter to come. The destruction of Jerusalem was the most important event of the first century AD and the impact of the event was far more shattering to the world at that time than the events of 9/11 were to the 21st century world. As I have blogged previously, the idea that any New Testament books were authored any later than about AD 66 is highly unlikely because not one of them mentions the martyrdom of either Paul or Peter nor do any of them describe the fall of Jerusalem. These momentous events would not have been ignored by the New Testament writers had they happened. Would the stoning of Stephen be recorded but the crucifixion of Paul ignored? Highly unlikely.

I would assert that bad jokes and lewd pictures would be covered in verse 16. Some believe that making an attempt to understand and believe what God says in Genesis and Revelation is covered in verse 14 in that such things are to no profit. But my response is that God authored them, so they must be for our learning and are to our profit, as Paul also wrote to Timothy:

Therefore it is both wise and profitable for someone who is a dedicated Christian to study and to understand both the first and the last books of the Bible and not simply accept conclusions drawn by others that you do not understand, cannot defend and prefer not to consider.

In Memoriam

The Northwest Indiana Patriots have lost a loved and valuable member of our family.

Bonnie Jean Kuzminski was a loving, faithful wife and devoted mother. For the past year, she served as the volunteer secretary for the Northwest Indiana Patriots. Bonnie passed away December 23, 2009, at the age of 60. She is survived by her husband, Gary, son and daughter, Steven and Kimberley, and grandchildren, Christian and Nicholas.

Bonnie was the motor driving the NWIPs. She authored every post on this blog, and wrote or co-wrote every email blast and newsletter ever sent out by the NWIPs. She helped organize, set up and run our events. She opened her home for an NWIP yard sale. Bonnie did all this – while receiving zero compensation – because she believed in the principles of limited government and fiscal and individual responsibility. She did all she could to help preserve liberty for her fellow citizens.

Bonnie recently related the story of how she came to be associated with the NWIPs. Like many of us, she was frustrated with the political direction of our nation. Also like many of us, she felt alone in her frustration, seeing no outlet or opportunity to have an effect. Then the Tea Party movement began, and news came of a Tax Day Tea Party in Valparaiso. Bonnie and Gary went, excited at the possibilities, but unsure of what would come of it. Would anyone show up? Would it just be 5 people gathered to say goodbye to our founding principles?

Bonnie found herself surrounded by hundreds of like-minded Patriots. People who felt just as she did. People who shared her frustrations and hungered to make a difference. And she was confronted with something new and exciting – opportunity. Bonnie seized that opportunity and never let go. She found a second home in the Patriots, and she was very proud to stand with all of you. She was so dedicated that she continued to post and email right up until the very week of her passing. Her example is an inspiration.

As we mourn Bonnie’s death, we must celebrate her successes. The NWIPs and the Tea Party movement have grown beyond what she initially thought possible. Locally, Bonnie was on the streets every day in the runup to the November referendum on the RTA, raising awareness and getting people to register and vote. The people of Porter County responded with a resounding 4-to-1 rejection of the RTA.

Nationally, the Tea Party movement halted the rush to pass a federal takeover of healthcare, though there is still much to do on that front. Another economy killer, Cap & Trade, has stalled. She marched in Washington, D.C. on 9/12. The political landscape of our nation has changed greatly this past year, and Bonnie was very much a part of that.

Bonnie’s greatest successes, though, were with her family. She was utterly devoted and always faithful to her husband, Gary. She provided the example for her daughter to raise a beautiful family of her own. She sustained her son, Steven, through an accident that left him with paralysis, giving him the strength, knowledge and support he would often need but never lack, thanks to her.

We love you, Bonnie. You will be sorely missed. We will honor you by continuing your fight.

A belated Key Largo Christmas to you and yours!

First, Merry Christmas to one and all! A bit late, but I was not well today and I also had something negative to say. But thank you God for making all things and making me and then providing for me a place with You for all time and beyond!

I love good movies! I could begin naming good movies and just go on and on and on. But most of the movies I really love were made long ago and often before I was even born. "Bringing Up Baby" is a hilarious romantic farce. "It Happened One Night" is a romantic comedy with tons of sex appeal even though no one gets naked or anything like that on the screen. In fact I think the sexiest movie of all time," To Have And Have Not", is a good example of romance and sex appeal and yet everyone keeps their clothes on. It was the first movie pairing Bogart and Bacall and also a boat and a few other wonderful actors, including the remarkable Walter Brennan.

Humphrey Bogart was the star of one of my absolute favorite movies ever, "Casablanca." The studio didn't realize what a fantastic hit it would be but it has become one of the all-time favorites of movie critics. Bogart's love interest in this one was Ingrid Bergman and I suppose the movie itself has become iconic. People always misquote him, Bogie does not say "Play it again, Sam" but rather he says "You played it for her, you can play it for me. Play it!"

Having discovered a formula for success, "Passage to Marseilles" with a very similar cast and premise was made but it did not compare to "Casablanca" in quality or story and was something of a flop. Perhaps Michele Morgan was too big a downgrade from Bergman? It really was not a bad movie but it has not stood the test of time as a popular classic.

On the other hand, the pairing of Bogie and Bacall was magic and they were happily married until his demise in 1957 from cancer. In the meantime, the movies loved them together and they did star in three subsequent movies, although Lauren Bacall became more involved with having children and being a mother and less concerned with career for much of their married lives together. She wrote a book about the experience of the filming of "The African Queen" as an observer, the movie that won Bogie his only academy award in an unusual role for him, a man neither tough nor hardened but rather just humbled and bored and retired from life in general. He and Hepburn made a marvelous screen couple but in real life Mrs. Bogart was there all the while, just not on the screen.

My personal interest in the movies may be in the genes. I had a great-grandfather and great-grandmother who worked in the movies as stage crew and if I remember correctly they met on a movie set...just like Bogart and Bacall...well, sort of like. By the time I was old enough to know them they were long-retired and I forget most of their stories. But there is Hoagy Carmichael, who was my Mom's second cousin if I remember correctly...a very distant relative that I never met. It just so happens that Hoagy was Cricket the piano player in "To Have And Have Not" and was an actor and famous song-writer back in the days before television. I suppose his most famous song would be "Stardust" but many people remember him for his movie appearances. My mother resembled Ida Lupino as a young woman and had a voice much like Rosemary Clooney but she chose motherhood over career and spent several decades as a local singing star rather than a Hollywood actress, which is of course much better for me. Thanks, Mom!

Anyway, Bogie and Bacall were paired in yet another movie involving a boat and drama in "Key Largo." By that time Bogart had become a huge star and although Edward G. Robinson had been a big name for a long time, Bogie got top billing and played the hero while Eddie wound up as bad guy.

The Robinson character utters these words during the movie: "You hick! I'll be back pulling strings to get guys elected mayor and governor before you ever get a 10-buck raise. Yeah, how many of those guys in office owe everything to me. I made them. Yeah, I made 'em, just like a-like a tailor makes a suit of clothes. I take a nobody, see? Teach him what to say. Get his name in the papers and pay for his campaign expenses. Dish out a lotta groceries and coal. Get my boys to bring the voters out. And then count the votes over and over again till they added up right and he was elected."

Does that sound familiar? Chicago politics goes that way. Now Chicago politicians and their compadres are in charge of the entire USA! No wonder the deficit is higher than ever, jobs are disappearing and the rotten politicians are working overtime passing laws that will give them more control over the common man and commerce. Think this is a coincidence?

I could not quite bear to post this until after midnight on Christmas. Negativity even though truth. Perhaps by next Christmas more responsible people will have been elected to both the House and the Senate and some of the damage the Obama Administration will have been undone? Now that would be a fine Christmas indeed!

The claim was both simple and terrifying: that temperatures on planet Earth are now ‘likely the highest in at least the past 1,300 years’.

As its authors from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) must have expected, it made headlines around the world.

Yet some of the scientists who helped to draft it, The Mail on Sunday can reveal, harboured uncomfortable doubts.

In the words of one, David Rind from the US space agency Nasa, it ‘looks like there were years around 1000AD that could have been just as warm’.

Keith Briffa from the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU), which plays a key role in forming IPCC assessments, urged caution, warning that when it came to historical climate records, there was no new data, only the ‘same old evidence’ that had been around for years.

‘Let us not try to over-egg the pudding,’ he wrote in an email to an IPCC colleague in September 2006.

‘True, there have been many different techniques used to aggregate and scale data - but the efficacy of these is still far from established.’

But when the ‘warmest for 1,300 years’ claim was published in 2007 in the IPCC’s fourth report, the doubters kept silent.

It is only now that their concerns have started to emerge from the thousands of pages of ‘Warmergate’ emails leaked last month from the CRU’s computers, along with references to performing a ‘trick’ to ‘hide’ temperature decline and instructions to resist all efforts by the CRU’s critics to use the Freedom of Information Act to check the unit’s data and conclusions.

Last week, as an official inquiry by the former civil servant Sir Muir Russell began, I tried to assess Warmergate’s wider significance.

The CRU’s supporters insisted it was limited. ‘In the long term, it will make very little difference to the scientific consensus, and to the way politicians respond to it,’ Professor Trevor Davies, the university’s Pro-Vice Chancellor and a former CRU director, told me. ‘I am certain that the science is rock solid.’

He admitted that his CRU colleagues had sometimes used ‘injudicious phrases’, but that was because they kept on being ‘diverted’ from their work by those who wished to scrutinise it. ‘It’s understandable that sometimes people get frustrated,’ he said.

The only lesson the affair had for him was that ‘we have got to get better in terms of explanation. Some scientists still find it quite it difficult to communicate with the public.’

Others, however, were less optimistic. Roger Pielke, Professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Colorado, could in no sense be described as a climate change sceptic, let alone a ‘denier’.

‘Human-caused climate change is real, and I’m a strong advocate for action,’ he said. ‘But I’m also a strong advocate for integrity in science.’

Pielke’s verdict on the scandal is damning.

‘These emails open up the possibility that big scientific questions we’ve regarded as settled may need another look.

'They reveal that some of these scientists saw themselves not as neutral investigators but as warriors engaged in battle with the so-called sceptics.

‘They have lost a lot of credibility and as far as their being leading spokespeople on this issue of huge public importance, there is no going back.’

Climate science is complicated, and often the only way to make sense of raw data is through sophisticated statistical computer programs.

The consequence is that most lay individuals - politicians and members of the public alike - have little choice but to take the assurances of scientists such as Davies on trust.

He and other ‘global warmists’ often insist that when it comes to the IPCC’s main conclusions - that the Earth is in a period of potentially catastrophic warming and that the main culprit is man-made greenhouse gas emission - no serious scientist dissents from the conventional view.

Copenhagen climate change summit: 900 arrested and two Britons deported

Hence, perhaps, Gordon Brown’s recent comment that those who disagree are ‘behind-the-times, antiscience, flat-Earth climate sceptics’.

In fact, there is a large body of highly-respected academic experts who fiercely contest this thesis: people such as Richard Lindzen, Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a disillusioned former IPCC member, and Dr Tom Segalstad, head of geology at Oslo University, who has stated that ‘most leading geologists throughout the world know that the IPCC’s view of Earth processes are implausible if not impossible’.

These dissenters focus their criticisms on the IPCC’s analysis of the way the atmosphere works and the models it uses to predict the future.

However, Warmergate strikes at something more fundamental - the science that justifies the basic assumption that the present warming really is unprecedented, at least in the past few thousand years.

Take the now-notorious email that the CRU’s currently suspended director, Dr Phil Jones, sent to his IPCC colleagues on November 16, 1999, when he wrote he had ‘just completed Mike’s Nature trick’ and had so managed to ‘hide the decline’.

For example, some suggest that the ‘medieval warm period’ was considerably warmer than even 1998. Of course, this is inconvenient to climate change believers because there were no cars or factories pumping out greenhouse gases in 1000AD - yet the Earth still warmed.

The CRU’s supporters have protested bitterly about the attention paid to this message. In the course of an extraordinary BBC interview in which he called an American critic an ‘****hole’ live on air, Jones’s colleague Professor Andrew Watson insisted that the fuss was completely unjustified, because all Jones had been talking about was ‘tweaking a diagram’.

Davies told me that the email had been ‘taken out of context’ adding: ‘One definition of the word “trick” is “the best way of doing something”. What Phil did was standard practice and the facts are out there in the peer-reviewed literature.’

However, the full context of that ‘trick’ email, as shown by a new and until now unreported analysis by the Canadian climate statistician Steve McIntyre, is extremely troubling.

Derived from close examination of some of the thousands of other leaked emails, he says it suggests the ‘trick’ undermines not only the CRU but the IPCC.

There is a widespread misconception that the ‘decline’ Jones was referring to is the fall in global temperatures from their peak in 1998, which probably was the hottest year for a long time. In fact, its subject was more technical - and much more significant.

It is true that, in Watson’s phrase, in the autumn of 1999 Jones and his colleagues were trying to ‘tweak’ a diagram. But it wasn’t just any old diagram.

It was the chart displayed on the first page of the ‘Summary for Policymakers’ of the 2001 IPCC report - the famous ‘hockey stick’ graph that has been endlessly reproduced in everything from newspapers to primary-school textbooks ever since, showing centuries of level or declining temperatures until a dizzying, almost vertical rise in the late 20th Century.

There could be no simpler or more dramatic representation of global warming, and if the origin of worldwide concern over climate change could be traced to a single image, it would be the hockey stick.

Drawing a diagram such as this is far from straightforward.

Gabriel Fahrenheit did not invent the mercury thermometer until 1724, so scientists who want to reconstruct earlier climate history have to use ‘proxy data’ - measurements derived from records such as ice cores, tree-rings and growing season dates.

However, different proxies give very different results.

For example, some suggest that the ‘medieval warm period’, the 350-year era that started around 1000, when red wine grapes flourished in southern England and the Vikings tilled now-frozen farms in Greenland, was considerably warmer than even 1998.

Of course, this is inconvenient to climate change believers because there were no cars or factories pumping out greenhouse gases in 1000AD - yet the Earth still warmed.

Some tree-ring data eliminates the medieval warmth altogether, while others reflect it. In September 1999, Jones’s IPCC colleague Michael Mann of Penn State University in America - who is now also the subject of an official investigation --was working with Jones on the hockey stick. As they debated which data to use, they discussed a long tree-ring analysis carried out by Keith Briffa.

Briffa knew exactly why they wanted it, writing in an email on September 22: ‘I know there is pressure to present a nice tidy story as regards “apparent unprecedented warming in a thousand years or more”.’ But his conscience was troubled. ‘In reality the situation is not quite so simple - I believe that the recent warmth was probably matched about 1,000 years ago.’

Another British scientist - Chris Folland of the Met Office’s Hadley Centre - wrote the same day that using Briffa’s data might be awkward, because it suggested the past was too warm. This, he lamented, ‘dilutes the message rather significantly’.

Over the next few days, Briffa, Jones, Folland and Mann emailed each other furiously. Mann was fearful that if Briffa’s trees made the IPCC diagram, ‘the sceptics [would] have a field day casting doubt on our ability to understand the factors that influence these estimates and, thus, can undermine faith [in them] - I don’t think that doubt is scientifically justified, and I’d hate to be the one to have to give it fodder!’

Finally, Briffa changed the way he computed his data and submitted a revised version. This brought his work into line for earlier centuries, and ‘cooled’ them significantly. But alas, it created another, potentially even more serious, problem.

According to his tree rings, the period since 1960 had not seen a steep rise in temperature, as actual temperature readings showed - but a large and steady decline, so calling into question the accuracy of the earlier data derived from tree rings.

This is the context in which, seven

weeks later, Jones presented his ‘trick’ - as simple as it was deceptive.

All he had to do was cut off Briffa’s inconvenient data at the point where the decline started, in 1961, and replace it with actual temperature readings, which showed an increase.

On the hockey stick graph, his line is abruptly terminated - but the end of the line is obscured by the other lines.

‘Any scientist ought to know that you just can’t mix and match proxy and actual data,’ said Philip Stott, emeritus professor of biogeography at London’s School of Oriental and African Studies.

‘They’re apples and oranges. Yet that’s exactly what he did.’

Since Warmergate-broke, some of the CRU’s supporters have claimed that Jones and his colleagues made a ‘full disclosure’ of what they did to Briffa’s data in order to produce the hockey stick.

But as McIntyre points out, ‘contrary to claims by various climate scientists, the IPCC Third Assessment Report did not disclose the deletion of the post-1960 values’.

On the final diagram, the cut off was simply concealed by the other lines.

By 2007, when the IPCC produced its fourth report, McIntyre had become aware of the manipulation of the Briffa data and Briffa himself, as shown at the start of this article, continued to have serious qualms.

McIntyre by now was an IPCC ‘reviewer’ and he urged the IPCC not to delete the post-1961 data in its 2007 graph. ‘They refused,’ he said, ‘stating this would be “inappropriate”.’

‘Any scientist ought to know that you just can’t mix and match proxy and actual data’

Yet even this, Pielke told me, may not ultimately be the biggest consequence of Warmergate.

Some of the most controversial leaked emails concern attempts by Jones and his colleagues to avoid disclosure of the CRU’s temperature database - its vast library of readings from more than 1,000 weather stations around the world, the ultimate resource that records how temperatures have changed.

In one email from 2005, Jones warned Mann not to leave such data lying around on searchable websites, because ‘you never know who is trawling them’.

Critics such as McIntyre had been ‘after the CRU station data for years. If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the UK, I think I’ll delete the file rather than send to anyone’.

Yesterday Davies said that, contrary to some reports, none of this data has in fact been deleted. But in the wake of the scandal, its reliability too is up for grabs.

The problem is that, just like tree rings or ice cores, readings from thermometers or electronic ‘thermistors’ are open to interpretation.

The sites of weather stations that were once open countryside become built up areas, so trapping heat, and the type of equipment used changes over time.

The result is what climate scientists call ‘inhomogeneities’ - anomalies between readings that need to be ‘adjusted’.

But can we trust the way such ‘adjustments’ are made?

Last week, an article posted on a popular climate sceptic website analysed the data from the past 130 years in Darwin, Australia.

This suggested that average temperatures had risen there by about two degrees Celsius. However, the raw data had been ‘adjusted’ in a series of abrupt upward steps by exactly the same amount: without the adjustment, the Darwin temperature record would have stayed level.

In 2007, McIntyre examined records across America. He found that between 1999 and 2007, the US equivalent of the Met Office had changed the way it adjusted old data.

The result was to make the Thirties seem cooler, and the years since 1990 much warmer. Previously, the warmest year since records began in America had been 1934.

CRU 'can't be trusted' says MP

The MP whose father founded the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia says it is important that trust in the unit’s work is restored.

Liberal Democrat frontbencher Norman Lamb is the son of Professor Hubert Lamb, who was the first director of the CRU in 1971.

Under his leadership, it gained an international reputation for authoritative and ground-breaking research.

Last night, Norman Lamb, MP for North Norfolk, said: ‘My father was always very concerned that the highest possible standards were met.

'The university has done the right thing in calling for an independent investigation.

‘It is of critical importance that trust is re-established. We want truth and accuracy, both in small detail and the bigger picture.’

Prof Lamb died in 1997, aged 84.

Now, in line with CRU and IPCC orthodoxy, it was 1998.

At the CRU, said Davies, some stations’ readings were adjusted by unit and in such cases, raw and adjusted data could be compared.

But in about 90 per cent of cases, the adjustment was carried out in the countries that collected the data, and the CRU would not know exactly how this had been done.

Davies said: ‘All I can say is that the process is careful and considered. To get the details, the best way would be to go the various national meteorological services.’

The consequences of that, Stott said, may be explosive. ‘If you take Darwin, the gap between the two just looks too big.

‘If that applies elsewhere, it’s going to get really interesting. It’s no longer going to be good enough for the Met Office and CRU to put the data out there.

‘To know we can trust it, we’ve got to know what adjustments have been made, and why.’

Last week, at the Copenhagen climate summit, the Met Office said that the Noughties have been the warmest decade in history. Depending on how the data has been adjusted, Stott said, that statement may not be true.

Pielke agreed. ‘After Climategate, the surface temperature record is being called into question.’ To experts such as McIntyre and Pielke, perhaps the most baffling thing has been the near-unanimity over global warming in the world’s mainstream media - a unanimity much greater than that found among scientists.

In part, this is the result of strongarm tactics.

For example, last year the BBC environment reporter Roger Harrabin made substantial changes to an article on the corporation website that asked why global warming seemed to have stalled since 1998 - caving in to direct pressure from a climate change activist, Jo Abbess.

‘Personally, I think it is highly irresponsible to play into the hands of the sceptics who continually promote the idea that “global warming finished in 1998” when that is so patently not true,’ she told him in an email.

After a brief exchange, he complied and sent a final note: ‘Have a look in ten minutes and tell me you are happier. We have changed headline and more.’

Afterwards, Abbess boasted on her website: ‘Climate Changers, Remember to challenge any piece of media that seems like it’s been subject to spin or scepticism. Here’s my go for today. The BBC actually changed an article I requested a correction for.’

Last week, Michael Schlesinger, Professor of Atmospheric Studies at the University of Illinois, sent a still cruder threat to Andrew Revkin of the New York Times, accusing him of ‘gutter reportage’, and warning: ‘The vibe that I am getting from here, there and everywhere is that your reportage is very worrisome to most climate scientists ... I sense that you are about to experience the “Big Cutoff” from those of us who believe we can no longer trust you, me included.’

But in the wake of Warmergate, such threats - and the readiness to bow to them - may become rarer.

‘A year ago, if a reporter called me, all I got was questions about why I’m trying to deny climate change and am threatening the future of the planet,’ said Professor Ross McKitrick of Guelph University near Toronto, a long-time collaborator with McIntyre.

‘Now, I’m getting questions about how they did the hockey stick and the problems with the data.

‘Maybe the emails have started to open people’s eyes.’

Russian secret service agents admitted yesterday that the hacked ‘Warmergate’ emails were uploaded on a Siberian internet server, but strenuously denied a clandestine state-sponsored operation to wreck the Copenhagen summit.

The FSB - formerly the KGB - confirmed that thousands of messages to and from scientists at the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit were distributed to the world from the city of Tomsk, as revealed by The Mail on Sunday last week.

Now, it has emerged that IT experts specialising in hacking techniques were brought in by the Russian authorities following this newspaper’s exposure of the Tomsk link.

They have gathered evidence about how and where the operation was carried out, although they are not prepared to say at this stage who they think was responsible.

A Russian intelligence source claimed the FSB had new information which could cast light on who was behind the elaborate operation.

‘We are not prepared to release details, but we might if the false claims about the FSB’s involvement do not stop,’ he said. ‘The emails were uploaded to the Tomsk server but we are sure this was done from outside Russia.’

The Kremlin’s top climate change official, Alexander Bedritsky, denied the Russian government was involved in breaking into the CRU’s computer system.

‘You can post information on a computer from any other country. It is nonsense to blame Russia,’ he said.

Global Warming or Global Cooling? A New Trend in Climate Alarmism

Senator Steve Fielding recently asked the [Australian] Climate Change Minister Penny Wong why human emissions can be blamed for global warming, given that air temperatures peaked in 1998 and began a cooling trend in 2002, while carbon dioxide levels have risen five per cent since 1998. I was one of the four independent scientists Fielding chose to accompany him to visit the Minister.

The Minister's advisor essentially told us that short term trends in air temperatures are irrelevant, and to instead focus on the rapidly rising ocean heat content:

This is the new trend in climate alarmism. Previously the measure of global warming has always been air temperatures. But all the satellite data says air temperatures have been in a mild down trend starting 2002. The land thermometers preferred by the alarmists showed warming until 2006, but even they show a cooling trend developing since then.

(Land thermometers cannot be trusted because, even in the USA, 89 per cent of them fail siting guidelines that they be more than 30 meters from an artificial heating or radiating/reflecting heat source, and their data is forever being "corrected".)

Ocean temperatures were not properly measured until mid-2003, when the Argo network became operational.

Before Argo, ocean temperatures were measured with bathythermographs (XBTs)—expendable probes fired into the water by a gun from ships along the main commercial shipping lanes. Geographical coverage of the world's oceans was poor, XBTs do not go as deep as Argo, and their data is much less accurate.

The Argo network consists of over 3,000 small, drifting oceanic robot probes, floating around all of the world's oceans. Argo floats duck dive down to 1,000 meters or more, record temperatures, then come up and radio back the results.

The Argo data shows that the oceans have been in a slight cooling trend since at least late-2004, and possibly as far back as mid-2003 when the Argo network started:

Josh Willis of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, in charge of the Argo data, said in March 2008: "There has been a very slight cooling, but not anything really significant".

The ocean data that the alarmists are relying on to establish their warming trends is all pre-Argo, from XBTs. Now that we are measuring ocean temperatures properly, the warming trend has disappeared. And by coincidence, it disappeared just when we started measuring it properly!
Notice how the Minister's graph above shows rising ocean heat content for 2004 through 2006, but the Argo data shows a cooling trend? There is a problem here.

The Argo data is extraordinarily difficult to find on the Internet. There is no official or unofficial website showing the latest ocean temperature. Basically the only way to get the data is to ask Josh Willis (above). The graph above come from Craig Loehle, who got the data from Willis, analysed it, and put the results in a peer reviewed paper available on the Internet. Given the importance of the ocean temperatures, don't you think this is extraordinary?

If the Argo data showed a warming trend, don't you suppose it would be publicised endlessly?

So what's going on? Our best data, from satellites and Argo, says that both the air and oceans have not warmed for at least five years now. In the short term, some cooling force is overpowering the warming due to human emissions.

Let's look at the long-term trend. The medieval warm period around AD 1000 - 1300 was a little warmer than now: crops grew in Greenland, and there were many signs around the world of extra warmth during that period. That gave way to the bitter cold of the little ice age from 1400 to 1800: animals in Europe died from cold even inside barns, and the River Thames in London would freeze over every winter (it last froze over in 1804).

Global air temperatures have been rising at a steady trend rate of 0.5°C per century since about 1750, as the world recovers from the little ice age:

Figure 5: Reasonable global air temperature data only goes back to 1880. This analysis into a steady rising trend and oscillations is simply an empirical observation, by Dr Syun Akasofu. The IPCC predictions are their widely publicised 2001 predictions.

On top of that trend are oscillations that last about 30 years in each direction:

1882 - 1910 Cooling
1910 - 1944 Warming
1944 - 1975 Cooling
1975 - 2001 Warming

In 2009 we are where the green arrow points in Figure 5, with temperature levelling off and beginning to fall slightly. The pattern suggests that the world has entered a period of cooling until about 2030.

The long-term trend suggests that the last warming period (1975-2001) was like the previous one (1910-1944), and that once the effects of the little ice age have finally passed, the temperature will get back to where it was in the medieval warm period (which is also where it was during the Roman Optimum, and in the Holocene optimum before that).

What about human influence? Human emissions of CO2 were virtually non-existent before 1850, and were insignificant compared to current levels until after 1945.

It is worth bearing in mind that there is no actual evidence that carbon dioxide was the main cause of recent warming—it's only an assumption, and the calculations of future temperature rises derive most of their warming from an assumed water vapor feedback for which there is only counter-evidence.

Dr David Evans worked for the Australian Greenhouse Office from 1999 to 2005, building the carbon accounting model that Australia uses to track carbon in its biosphere for the purposes of the Kyoto Protocol. He is a mathematician and engineer, with six university degrees including a PhD from Stanford University.

Naturally the idea that scientists would accept real readings instead of data "massaged" to reflect a fake warming trend flies in the face of all the millions of dollars the Gores of this world have invested in this scam. That the chart exists at all is yet another example of how skilled experts are flocking in to the skeptics position and dedicating hours of time pro bono because they are passionately motivated to fight against those who try to deceive us.

I suppose they would be funny if they did not intend to bring about changes to the world's economy that impoverishes and kills thousands, no millions of innocents for (guess what?) money and power. Do you really want to know the truth? Polar Bears are thriving and, if it got warmer, they would be better off. Global warming kooks actually have kept the actual experts from giving their reports and here is a case in point.

Dr Mitchell Taylor has been researching the status and management of polar bears in Canada and around the Arctic Circle for 30 years, as both an academic and a government employee. More than once since 2006 he has made headlines by insisting that polar bear numbers, far from decreasing, are much higher than they were 30 years ago. Of the 19 different bear populations, almost all are increasing or at optimum levels, only two have for local reasons modestly declined.

No! No! This wasn't what we wanted to hear. It just does not fit in with our preconceived notions.

He has also observed, however, how the melting of Arctic ice, supposedly threatening the survival of the bears, has rocketed to the top of the warmists' agenda as their most iconic single cause. The famous photograph of two bears standing forlornly on a melting iceberg was produced thousands of times by Al Gore, the WWF and others as an emblem of how the bears faced extinction – until last year the photographer, Amanda Byrd, revealed that the bears, just off the Alaska coast, were in no danger. Her picture had nothing to do with global warming and was only taken because the wind-sculpted ice they were standing on made such a striking image.

Correct, and NewsBusters' Noel Sheppard also reported on this "stranded polar bear" hoax two years ago.

Dr Taylor had obtained funding to attend this week's meeting of the PBSG, but this was voted down by its members because of his views on global warming. The chairman, Dr Andy Derocher, a former university pupil of Dr Taylor's, frankly explained in an email (which I was not sent by Dr Taylor) that his rejection had nothing to do with his undoubted expertise on polar bears: "it was the position you've taken on global warming that brought opposition".

Dr Taylor was told that his views running "counter to human-induced climate change are extremely unhelpful". His signing of the Manhattan Declaration – a statement by 500 scientists that the causes of climate change are not CO2 but natural, such as changes in the radiation of the sun and ocean currents – was "inconsistent with the position taken by the PBSG".

An inconvenient truth because it is inconsistent with preconceived global warming alarmist notions.

So, as the great Copenhagen bandwagon rolls on, stand by this week for reports along the lines of "scientists say polar bears are threatened with extinction by vanishing Arctic ice". But also check out Anthony Watt's Watts Up With That website for the latest news of what is actually happening in the Arctic. The average temperature at midsummer is still below zero, the latest date that this has happened in 50 years of record-keeping. After last year's recovery from its September 2007 low, this year's ice melt is likely to be substantially less than for some time. The bears are doing fine.

I could go on and on. Wasn't it funny that the US delegation to Copenhagen had to leave early to try to fly into Washington before being stopped by one of the biggest blizzards ever there? As New York and Philadelphia and the District of Columbia try to dig out from the snow and survive the freezing rain, the Democrats are hustling to hurry up and bribe enough people to pass the Obamacare bill that will throw the economy into a deep freeze...that may be the coldest fact in this entire Climategate scandal! Anyway, all this cooling is just part of global warming, they say...are you going to believe them?

Where's PETA when you need them

A new study shows that the carbon footprint of a pet dog is more than double that of the evil gas-guzzling SUV.

The Vales, specialists in sustainable living at Victoria University of Wellington, analysed popular brands of pet food and calculated that a medium-sized dog eats around 164 kilos (360 pounds) of meat and 95 kilos of cereal a year.

Combine the land required to generate its food and a “medium” sized dog has an annual footprint of 0.84 hectares (2.07 acres) — around twice the 0.41 hectares required by a 4×4 driving 10,000 kilometres (6,200 miles) a year, including energy to build the car.

Dinosaurs and Man lived together/the next five reasons why evolution will not fly

The recent excitement about Mary Schweitzer's findings of actual tissue being preserved in a Tyranosaurus Rex fossil? It only makes sense. In fact, now we know that soft tissue has been found in more than one fossil, which naturalistic materialistic scientists used to claim could not possibly happen. After all, dinosaur fossils would have to have been in the ground for millions upon millions of years! Now they are saying that, who knew, actual tissue can be preserved for millions of years despite all evidence to the contrary! Yeah, right.

Let me remind you of the article I published in April of 2006, Beowulf, Grendel, and a preponderance of dinosaurs. It began thusly:

Having established that the Bible mentions and describes dinosaurs, I wish to begin laying out the historical evidence for the coexistence of dinosaur and man after the Noahic Flood. I wanted to give the Bible evidence first, allow doubters to emit their first "Piffle!" and move on from there. Time to begin compiling the evidence. "

I am pretty happy with the research done by Bill Carroll on this subject and borrowed heavily from his work (attributed, of course). There are signficant problems for old earthers and here are the main ones:

1) Drawings, carvings and figurines dating from several hundred to a few thousand years old depicting dinosaurs of many varieties. How did people from 500, 1,000 or 1,500 years ago know what dinosaurs looked like?

2) Myriad stories of man doing battle with various kinds of dinosaurs.

3) Myriad official reports and documents in the archives of towns and cities throughout Europe mentioning encounters with dinosaurs.

4) The mentions of dinosaurs in the Bible.

5) Now we also have tissue that has not yet petrified being discovered in dinosaur remains. One has to wonder how many times in the past this was discovered and destroyed? We all owe a debt of thanks to the nevertheless staunch Darwinist Mary Schweitzer for her honest appraisal of her T-Rex remains, thereby letting another cat out of the bag.

Best ever find of soft tissue (muscle and blood) in a fossil

A salamander allegedly “18 million years old” is the latest fossil to produce astonishingly well preserved soft tissue. This time, it’s muscle tissue, and it is supposedly the most pristine example yet.

The muscle and blood found in the salamander fossil are the latest soft-tissue evidence in a long line of similar discoveries. Earlier, these flexible branching structures in T. rex bone (left photo) have justifiably been identified as blood vessels, while microscopic structures squeezed out of the blood vessels (right photo) look distinctly like cells, as evolutionary researchers themselves have admitted. (See Still soft and stretchy.) Soft-tissue evidence such as muscle, blood and cells should not be there if the fossils really are millions of years old.
Background—the “dinosaur connection”

Readers may recall the controversy that erupted when we first started reporting (in Creation magazine and later also on this site) on the discovery (by evolutionists) of blood vessels containing red blood cell remnants, and later other soft tissue, in dinosaur fossils (see Sensational dinosaur blood report!). This included flexible transparent branching blood vessels with nucleated red blood cells visible and more (see Still soft and stretchy: Dinosaur soft tissue find a stunning rebuttal of ‘millions of years’, also the trail of links leading from that to later articles, including the discoveries of dinosaur proteins).

There was not only astonishment that such fragile tissues could have survived for more than a few thousand years at most, there was frank disbelief from many circles. Even some creation-believing scientists made sceptical comments showing that they didn’t understand the issues (as shown), and not surprisingly “progressive creationist” long-agers published detailed attempts at refutation which fell flat. The reason for their problem is clear; the physics and chemistry indicates that the protein molecules responsible for such structures could never, in the best of circumstances, last for millions of years. So this is powerful evidence for the Bible’s young age for the earth.

Evolutionist and dinosaur expert Prof. Phil Currie acknowledges the opposition faced by those who have published on such finds that upset the traditional viewpoint—see the ‘extras’ interviews on CMI’s DVD Darwin: The Voyage that Shook the World for Professor Currie’s very revealing comments on the topic.

And the evidence continues to mount, including carefully repeated analyses of the actual proteins themselves. And there are now so many published reports and detailed documentation and analysis of similar finds that it is rapidly becoming “mainstream”. This latest report on preserved salamander muscle should really serve as the final nail in the coffin of ill-informed opposition.

The best yet

According to University College Dublin geologist, Dr Maria McNamara, the lead author of the report1 just published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B, the muscle specimen in this particular fossil showed “very little degradation since it was originally fossilised … making it the highest quality soft tissue preservation ever documented in the fossil record.”2

The muscle tissue was preserved ‘organically’ in three dimensions, with many fine microscopic details. Its circulatory vessels were ‘infilled with blood’.

McNamara says that the team, which consisted of researchers from Spain, the UK and Ireland, undertook “a series of highly detailed analyses to limit the possibility that it was simply an artefact of preservation” or something non-biological. The muscle tissue was preserved “organically” in three dimensions, with many fine microscopic details. Its circulatory vessels were “infilled with blood”.1

The authors say that their results are “unequivocal evidence that high-fidelity organic preservation of extremely labile tissues [i.e. extremely unstable ones-Ed] is not only feasible, but likely to be common.” They then mention similar discoveries in Germany’s Messel oil shale pit.1
OK, it’s soft tissue—what now?

One could hardly wish for a better demonstration of the bankruptcy of deep time

It wasn’t hard to predict that such inconvenient facts, even when they could no longer be denied, would not lead to a wholesale abandonment of such a carefully constructed worldview artifice as evolution’s “deep time”—especially given its crucial importance for the materialist religion of the age. All it will take is for report after report to talk about the “millions of years” ages for each such “squishy fossil”, and everyone will relax and come to accept that “we know that soft tissues can last for millions of years”. As if there was never any doubt. And no one will bother to explain how it is that all that “hard science” said (and still says) that they shouldn’t be there, period, in anything anywhere near that old. As Bible-believers, we need to keep holding their feet to the fire, so to speak. We need to be graciously but persistently pointing out this potent and unresolved inconsistency in “long-age religion”, despite the convenient apathy that is already shrouding the issue.

For those who are open to believing God’s Word one could hardly wish for a better demonstration of the bankruptcy of deep time and the reality of Genesis history.

There are all sorts of pictures of various carvings, drawings and other artifacts. Regular readers of Radaractive will remember my posts concerning the Acambaro figurines and the overwhelming evidence that the makers of the figurines lived with dinosaurs. I spent a couple of columns discussing the stegosaurus carvings on an old Cambodian temple earlier this year. Feel free to search for them and reconsider the evidence again.

Those who have no reasonable arguments simply scoff and make fun and yet there are no Darwinists who can explain such evidence. So therefore they simply try to ignore it and cover it up. So in that light I will present the numbers 6-10 of the Fifty Reasons Why Evolution Will Not Fly.

6. TRANSITIONAL LIFEFORMS: If life has always been in a continual stream of transmutation from one species to another, as evolutionists insist, then we would expect to find many fossils intermediate between all the species. Yet, we do not find any transitional species. Instead of finding fish growing limbs and reptiles sprouting wings in the fossil record, what we actually see are gaps. Creationists continually ask evolutionists to explain the following gaps; non-living matter to protozoan, protozoan to metazoans, metazoans to invertebrates, invertebrates to fish, fish to amphibians, amphibians to reptiles, reptiles to birds, reptiles to fur-bearing quadrupeds, quadrupeds to apes, and apes to man. Have you ever seen or heard of a transitional fossil? Of course not. They don’t exist!

7. PETRIFIED LOGS: Petrified logs represent something of an enigma for evolutionary scientists. These logs point to a rapid, catastrophic event, such as a massive worldwide flood, rather than a slow burial. These trees all have their branches stripped off and yet their bark is intact. This would indicate a very different method of deposition than we currently find in forests and it speaks of an event of enormous power. Creationists believe much evidence exists for a worldwide (Noah’s) flood. Which belief system best explains petrified logs to you, evolution or creationism?

8. POLYSTRATIC TREES: Polystratic trees are fossil trees that extend through several layers (“many strata”) of rock, sometimes penetrating 20 feet deep. According to evolutionists, a 20 feet deposit of rock would take place slowly and uniformly, over a great many years. However, no one doubts that these trees were buried rapidly, from top to bottom. Otherwise, the top of the trunks would have decayed well before new rock layers had a chance to surround them. An example of polystratic trees can be seen at Spirit Lake in Washington State. The observable, catastrophic events at Mt. St. Helens buried thousands of trees rapidly. Sometimes evolutionists try to explain polystratic evidence as a reburial event, but this can hardly be the case when the rock layers are situated directly against the trunk of the tree.

9. EPHEMERAL MARKINGS: How long do animal tracks last in the woods? Does rain leave an imprint for millions of years? Ephemeral markings include ripple-marks, rain imprints, worm trails, and animal tracks. These fleeting emblems are found in great abundance in the fossil record. As you can well imagine, such fragile marks are very easily disturbed, yet the fossil record yields a large amount of them. Most of these imprints were made in soft, wet sand that hardened into rock. These marks must be buried very fast or they will just wash away with the next wave. Furthermore, they must be buried at least to the depth of the imprint or the rock above the imprint will squash it away to nothing. This is ample proof that these ephemeral imprints were buried in a fast-moving, catastrophic environment such as Noah’s flood.

10. BIOTURBATION -- Bioturbation is evidence of animal activity left in rock. This phenomenon would be expected in the upper few feet of most layers of rock. Rapid bioturbation is seen on the East Coast of the U.S., where hurricanes regularly deposit fresh new layers of sediments along the exposed beaches. These sediments are thoroughly inhabited by creatures within a few weeks time to a depth of many feet. If the top few feet of rock layers have been exposed for thousands or millions of years, as evolutionists maintain, we should find profound evidence of animal life, as well as root tracts from plants. Yet, as we look carefully at the geologic column, we find precious little evidence of bioturbation. How can we explain the absence of these animal “tracks?” Consider the expected results of a worldwide flood as described in the Biblical book of Genesis. Such an event would deposit rock layers so quickly that no bioturbation could occur. What do you think? Why can’t we find evidence of bioturbation in so-called “ancient” rocks?

Gee, I wonder if the reason they are not found is the same reason soft tissue is being discovered in fossils and that carvings and reports and drawings of dinosaurs are common in the historical records of mankind before 1500 AD. God made the world in six days, destroyed the face of it in a world-wide flood and then we humans have had about 4,000 years to try to fill the world with people and we have not yet succeeded. How many of you are willing to throw off the old, tired Evolutionist paradigm and actually THINK?

Much of the East Coast of the United States is set for a major blast of winter this weekend with snow totals of more than one foot forecast for the Washington DC area. The Congressional delegation of 21 lawmakers now in Copenhagen for the UN Climate Change Conference announced they would leave early in order to beat the snowstorm before it strikes the nation’s capital.

Update, 5:15pm - Like the Congressional delegation, President Barack Obama said "because of weather constraints in Washington I am leaving before the final vote."

The climate summit began on December 7th and it seems like the ‘Gore Effect’ has been striking routinely since then.

Leading up to the event, much of the United States was plunged into a deep freeze. Snow fell in Houston, Denver experienced temperatures 30 degrees below normal and 370 new record low temperatures were set or tied in a three day span across the United States.

Not even the summit itself has been immune to the effect as a major snowstorm struck Copenhagen yesterday and temperatures plummeted. President Obama landed at the summit today amid snow falling. Denmark’s Meteorological Institute said that the nation may have its first white Christmas in 14 years.

Now, as delegates and world leaders are set to depart the summit when it ends today, weather in the United States is affecting travel plans for many. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office has said that the Congressional delegation would leave ‘several hours’ earlier than planned to beat a major winter storm set to hit.

A variety of winter weather warnings have been issued for a large swath from South Carolina through New York. Washington DC could receive as much as 20 inches of snow, blizzard conditions are forecast for Baltimore and New York City could receive up to 10 inches of snow.

The term was coined in recent years for the unseasonable weather that oftentimes accompanies appearances by former vice president and Nobel Laureate Al Gore or when a global warming event is held. Cold and snow have followed Al Gore and these events across the globe with amazing frequency since 2004.

I am a denier, apparently. If someone claims that two and two equals five, I am gonna deny it! If someone claims that the globe is warming due to the activities of mankind, I am going to deny that, too! I like the blurb for Lawrence Solomon's new book, The Deniers and thought I would share:

Prof. Freeman Dyson--one of the world's most eminent physicists says the models used to justify global warming alarmism are "full of fudge factors" and "do not begin to describe the real world."

Dr. Eigils Friis-Christensen--director of the Danish National Space Centre, vice-president of the International Association of Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, who argues that changes in the Sun's behavior could account for most of the warming attributed by the UN to man-made CO2.

"Kathryn Jean Lopez: Will you feel bad you defended “The Deniers” when we’re all dead?

Lawrence Solomon: The third world is sustaining terrible environmental damage today and people are losing their source of food and fuel, because too few people have been defending scientists who want nothing more than to have their voices heard, and because journalists have turned a blind eye to the consequences of Kyoto.

Consider this: Kyoto has emerged as the single biggest threat to the global environment. Thanks to Kyoto, we are seeing a revival of megadams that threaten to destroy many of the world’s remaining river valleys, we are seeing a renaissance of nuclear power, which remains a costly and dangerous technology, we are seeing our foodlands turned into fuel lands, and people in the Third World rioting because they can’t afford the doubling of grain prices that has resulted.

Because we have been blinkered, we don’t realize that when we purchase a carbon offset in the west, the other half of that transaction is often a carbon sink in the third world. That carbon sink is typically a fast growing eucalyptus plantation, planted on land that had formerly been farmland or old growth forest.

No area of public policy is more dependent on sound science than environmental protection. Sound science presupposes debate and the free flow of ideas, and scientists who are not castigated when they offer their views."

Thus begins the interview. This is at the end:

"Lopez: What Denier fact could be characterized as most inconvenient for Al Gore?

Solomon: The claim that there is a consensus on climate change. This claim is based on the media’s often repeated claim that the 2000 to 2500 scientists associated with the UN’s panel endorsed the U.N.’s report. In fact, as the Secretariat of the UN panel told me, those 2500 scientists are merely reviewers of some of the hundreds of input studies that went into the mix. They endorsed nothing. There is no consensus and there never has been.

Lopez: But still, the U.N.’s work was peer reviewed, even if some of the peer reviewers disagreed.

Solomon: No, the science in the U.N. reports was not peer reviewed, as it is usually understood. As some of my deniers point out in proper scientific peer reviews the identities of the peer reviewers are kept secret, so that they can be free to make critical comments about the science without fear of recrimination. In the U.N.’s peer review, the reviewers must identify themselves to the scientists they are critiquing, discouraging many from expressing themselves frankly. It gets worse than that, though.

In a normal peer-review process, the critiques from the reviewers are public. If a scientist decides to reject a critique, he must justify his refusal. In the U.N. peer-review process, the system is turned on its head. The scientists don’t need to explain themselves. They can ignore the criticisms and no one will be able to assess if the criticism was rejected for a valid reason. The U.N.’s version of peer review does not meet the standard of professional science.

Lopez: What would you like to see happen for “The Deniers”? Is that reasonable?

Solomon: For my book? I’d like to see it on school shelves, in school libraries, in libraries everywhere, so that students and the public as a whole can judge for themselves whether the science truly is settled.

Lopez: If you could leave every American with one Earth Day point to reflect on, what would it be?

Solomon: Earth is the sum of an infinite number of ecological niches. Each has its own characteristic, each has its own needs. One size fits all solutions — whether a Kyoto Treaty or a rush to renewable energy or a crash program to install compact fluorescent light bulbs — is fundamentally anti-environmental."

I disagree with some of Solomon's assertions, for I think he is sincerely wrong about how far off these climate alarmists truly are. I do believe that we are now in fact in a period of global cooling that could turn into another Little Ice Age unless the Sun begins working a bit harder. Anybody ever heard of a Maunder Minimum? Does anyone think going back to the days of the Thames freezing completely over and hundreds of inches of snowfall in the greater Chicago area will be profitable for mankind?

Some of the best and most prosperous times of mankind have been times when the temperatures rise, so that crop cultivation is successful farther north and the winters in the temperate zones are less harsh. Back in the days when Greenland was at least partly green and grapes were grown successfully in England, no seaside cities were drowned and no massive tsunami's roared up and swallowed large chunks of the populace.

Guess what? Mankind has absolutely no control over the Sun at all so the arrogant audacity at the heart of the global warming mania truly is that we can actually do much of anything about the weather at all. We can cut down on the most noxious emissions and provide city-dwellers with more breathable air. We can limit emissions of dangerous toxins and control nuclear energy safely. But we cannot add one degree to the global climate nor can we take one away.

Little Feedback on Climate Feedbacks in the City by the Bay

The Fall meeting of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) here in San Francisco this week is amazing for it’s sheer size: many thousands of Earth scientists presenting talks and posters on just about every Earth science subject imaginable.

Today was my chance (PDF of presentation) to try to convince other scientists who work on the critical issue of feedbacks in the climate system that some fundamental mistakes have been made that have misled climate researchers into believing that the climate system is quite sensitive to our greenhouse gas emissions. A tough sell in only 14 minutes.

It was standing room only…close to 300 scientists by my estimate. There were only a couple of objections to my presentation…rather weak ones. Afterward I had a number of people comment favorably about the ‘different’ way I was looking at the problem.

And while that should be comforting, it is also disturbing. Since when in science did the issue of ‘causation’ become a foreign concept? When did the direction of causation between two correlated variables (in my case, clouds and temperature) become no longer important?

If temperature and clouds vary together in ‘sort of’ the same way in satellite observations as they do in climate models, then the models are considered to be ‘validated’. But my message, which might not have come across as clearly as it should have due to time constraints, was that such agreement does NOT validate the models when it comes to feedback, and feedbacks are what will determine how much of an impact humans have on the climate system.

Andrew Lacis, who works climate modeling with Jim Hansen, came up and said he agreed with me that, in general, the feedback problem is more difficult than people have been assuming. In a talk after mine, Graeme Stephens gave me a backhanded compliment when he agreed with at least my basic message that the way in which we assume the climate system functions (in my terms, what-causes-what to happen) IS important to how we then deduce how sensitive the climate is to such things as our carbon dioxide emissions.

The three organizers of the session were very gracious to invite me, since they knew my views are controversial. One of the three was Andrew Dessler, who works in water vapor feedback. I had never met Andy before, and he’s a super nice guy. They all agreed that there needs to be more debate on the subject.

But most of the talks presented followed the recipe that has become all too common in recent years: analyze the output of climate models that predict substantial global warming, and simply assume the models are somewhere near correct.

There seems to be great reluctance to consider the possibility that these computerized prophets of doom, which have required so many scientists and so much money and so many years to develop, could be wrong. I come along with an extremely simple climate model that explains the behavior of the satellite data in details that are beyond even what has been done with the complex climate models…and then the more complex models are STILL believed because…well…they’re more complex.

Besides, since my simple model would predict very little manmade global warming, it must be wrong. After all, we know that manmade global warming is a huge problem. All of the experts agree on that. Just ask Al Gore and the mainstream news media.

Any chance that Cap and Trade proposals would make Al Gore and his cronies millions of dollars has anything to do with his continued promotion of Anthropic Global Warming? Hmmm?

THE DOUBLE-D STRATEGY FOR RESCUING AMERICA

A friend of mine lives in Kona on the Big Island in Hawaii. He has a fishing boat which he proudly named the 44-DD after a spectacular feature of his wife's anatomy. This is not about that sort of Double-D. While it may be difficult to keep your mind off what that spectacular feature might look like - just as it's hard to comply with the demand that you not think of a pink elephant - let's try and focus on a Double-D that can rescue our country from the clutches of the Fascist Democrat Party and the destruction being wrought upon it by President Zero. So - what does this Double-D stand for? It's a strategy for any Republican wanting to get elected or re-elected to Congress in 2010, and for any Tea Partyer wanting to take individual action now against a government that ignores the Constitution. Double-D stands for Defund and Disobey. Let's talk about the Defund D first. The Founders in their usual brilliance place the power of the purse in the House, whose members must face election every two years - for if they become profligate with this power the voters can throw them out within months (24 max) rather than wait years (6) like the Senate. All Appropriation bills authorizing any branch of the federal government (legislative, judicial, executive) to spend any money for any program must be initiated in and passed by a majority of the House. The Senate can only agree or disagree, and the same with the President. The obverse of this appropriation authority is that if the House doesn't authorize money for something, then no money can be spent on that something by anyone in the federal government. This was Senator Jim Inhofe's point when he announced (12/13) that "Obama has no power to make a deal in Copenhagen." Unless the House appropriates the money for any deal he makes, there's no deal at all. A conservative group in DC, Americans for Tax Reform run by Grover Norquist, has had a successful program for some years called the Tax Protection Pledge. It is a pledge signed by a candidate for public office to his constituents that (s)he will oppose any and all tax increases. Thus it has been helpful in not increasing the burden of government on taxpayers - but it does nothing to actually decrease that burden. Currently, this is the best that can be done at the federal legislative level. That is, the key goal of House & Senate Republicans is to block the passage of Dem legislation that will expand government and make our economy so much worse than it already is. There is no way for the Pubs to pass legislation that will make things better - and this is true even if the Republicans gain majority in the House in 2010 due to Zero's veto power. There is another way. One key solution to solving our problems, economic and social, is to get the federal government out of the way. To the extent that this requires positive legislative remedies - such as eliminating capital gains taxes, the depreciation schedule for capital expenses, and Sarbox - these will have to wait until we get a pro-capitalist president instead of a pro-socialist in 2012. This means we must focus on negative legislative remedies that the Pubs can effect with a House majority right after 2010 and not wait until 2012. They can simply refuse to fund Zero's programs. The Zero Administration is adding some 10,000 new federal employees to government payrolls every month? Eliminate the funding to pay them, requiring that their jobs be terminated. ObamaCare is passed by the House & Senate and is made law, providing for a government seizure of one-sixth of the economy? Refuse to appropriate the money to fund the administrative apparatus required. The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) wants to conduct a carbon jihad and seize control over the economy by regulating carbon dioxide as a pollutant? Gut the EPA's budget and thus its ability to do so. NASA and other government agencies continue to conduct climate fraud? Zero out all funding for global warming research. Thus, in order to gain the support of TeaPartyers and plain normal voters for their candidacy, Republicans wishing to get elected or re-elected to the House should be required to sign The Defund Pledge: "Should I be elected, I solemnly pledge to my constituents that I will consistently vote to defund, or vote against appropriating any money for, any federal program or activity not specifically authorized by an enumerated power in the United States Constitution. For any federal program or activity I do vote to fund, I will provide the specific enumerated power constitutionally permitting it." It's the only "purity test" conservatives need. Just as the "Contract with America" enabled Republicans to gain a House majority in 1994, so the Defund Pledge will ensure they do so in 2010. The voting public is increasingly fed up with the Dems. But they are still wary of the Pubs who refused to shut off the spending spigots during the Bush years. The Defund Pledge can reassure voters that the GOP will in fact dismantle Democrat fascism by committing to a concrete and simple way to do so: defund the Dem programs and on a Constitutional basis. It provides the starkest contrast to the insufferably outlaw arrogance of Dems, epitomized by Nancy Pelosi, who when asked where in the Constitution was it allowed for the federal government to force people to buy something (e.g., health insurance), angrily responded, "Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?" And it gives the TeaPartyers the single uniting electoral message they are searching for. Right now, the TeaParty movement is inchoate, more emotion than focus. As this article points out, "the biggest challenge facing the movement is how to organize hundreds of local groups, and dozens of Tea Party leaders nationwide with divergent interests, into a force that can influence elections." The Defund Pledge solves the challenge. And yet... the 2010 elections are next November and the new Congress, presumably with a Republican majority, won't take office until the end of January 2011. The amount of damage Zero and the Dems can do until then is monumental - on top of the damage they have already done this year. How can that be prevented and undone? What can be done now? The answer is the second D: Disobey. Disobey the Ghandi Way. Peaceful civil disobedience. No violence. Just the refusal to obey fascist and unconstitutional laws. There are only three federal crimes in the Constitution: treason (Article III section 3), piracy, and counterfeiting (Article I, section 8). Yet Congress has passed laws making over 4,000 activities a federal crime now, and federal regulatory agencies have issued tens of thousands of rules and regulations the violation of which constitutes a jailable offense. Ever hear of the Aquatic Nuisance Prevention and Control Act? Under it, anyone who transports water hyacinths across state lines for "interstate commerce" can be put in jail for six months and fined thousands of dollars. Suppose a group of TeaPartyers, with press in tow, walked across a state line wearing water hyacinth flowers in their hair, and met another group of TeaPartyers waiting for them who proceeded to buy the flowers for a penny apiece? The Federal Register contains some 85 thousand pages of rules and regulations, most all of which are unconstitutional. TeaPartyers have a lot to choose from. Or they could focus on, say, ObamaCare. If it's passed with the mandate to buy health insurance or pay a $1,000 fine - what if tens of thousands, what if hundreds of thousands of TeaPartyers refused to do either? Perhaps a few might be prosecuted - but there is no way all but a tiny fraction could. There are not enough prosecutors nor judges and it would tie the fed courts up in knots. And that's the goal. For so many people to disobey so many rules that it becomes impossible for the rules to be enforced. Call this The Revolution of Disobedience. A Mass Movement of Conservative Civil Disobedience that empowers every participant who knows he or she is actually doing something specific and concrete to bring down Fedzilla. The anger among TeaPartyers is growing to such an extent that one hears "lock and load" talk, implying they are ready to physically fight against the federales with guns and violence. If they have the guts to do this, then surely they have the guts to simply disobey fascist laws non-violently and peacefully, to fight in the courts and not the streets. Yet it's a far safer and more effective way to cripple Leviathan. Ghandi knew this. He saw where the Brits were vulnerable and went after them with disobedience. After building railroads in India, the Brits couldn't run the place without them. And they couldn't run the railroads by themselves, for they required many thousands of Indian railroad workers. So he persuaded the railroad workers to go on sitdown strikes. They did, the Brits shouted and screamed that such strikes were illegal, Ghandi and the workers said "So what?" - and British rule of India was over. If the EPA conducts a Carbon Jihad, if the Dems enact a Cap & Tax bill penalizing energy production in the US, it would take no more than 50,000 energy workers to go fishing next winter, shutting down refineries, coal plants, pipelines et al, for the entire east coast to freeze in the dark. What Ghandi knew - what TeaPartyers need to know - is that the key to success of any mass movement is the opponent's loss of moral legitimacy. The goal, then, of The Revolution of Disobedience is to deligitimize the moral obligation to obey fascist laws. There is no such obligation - any more than there is a moral obligation not to lie to a mugger holding you up at gunpoint about money hidden on you and not in your wallet. You may have a practical obligation to obey what he says, but no moral duty. Just like the mugger, Fedzilla may have power and guns - but no moral authority unless its rules and laws are enumerated constitutionally. So - expect to see at TeaParty demos and meetings signs that declare Just Say No To Fascists - We Won't Obey Your Fascist Rules - For The Health of America, Break At Least One Fascist Law A Day. Expect to see public demonstrations of federal rule breaking, initially with mass arrests - and the arrestees all demanding a jury trial. Expect to see courthouse protests with protestors making sure the jury members understand jury nullification (for info on a jury's right to nullify the law under which a defendant is being prosecuted, see the Fully Informed Jury Association). Expect to see them acquitted with rare exceptions, then the prosecutors and judges give up under the onslaught of mass disobedience. We don't need guns, we don't need violence in any way to rescue America. We just need to say no. No to funding fascism. No to obeying fascism. The Double-D - Defund and Disobey - will save our country.

Sadly, one of our Senators is an empty suit. Empty suits are everywhere in DC. They say what the people want to hear and then they do as they please. They get millions of dollars to buy tons of ads to get them elected and keep them in the public eye. The next Senator up for re-election in our state has twelve million (!) in funds in his election war chest! Good grief, while all around me people are losing jobs and businesses struggle to stay afloat in the Obama economy, he has millions of dollars to spend on getting re-elected...insert comment here.

We need Americans who love God and Country back in Washington, putting an end to earmarks and kicking the liberal loonies out before they turn us into the United States of Marxist Collectivism!

Al Gore just loves making stuff up.

Last month, on the Conan O’Brien show Gore made this hilarious claim that “the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees.” Except the temperature at the earth’s core, 4,000 miles down, is usually quoted as 5,000 degrees Celsius! The temperature at the surface of the Sun is around 6,000 degrees Celsius, while at the center, where nuclear fusion is going on, it’s over 10 million degrees. In other words, if the temperature of the earth’s interior were “several million degrees,” our planet would be a star!

Gore is still making stuff up. The latest is a speech he gave at the Copenhagen climate change summit in which he quoted climatologist Dr. Wieslav Maslowski, that ”there’s a 75% chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

The problem is Maslowski denies he ever said that: “It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at…. I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Gore’s office later admitted that the 75% figure was one used by Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Gore. Yeah, right….

So, here we have a world spokesman pushing the man-made global warming/climate change agenda who doesn’t know the difference between millions vs. thousands of degrees. How pathetic is that?

First off, I want to welcome a new link on my links page, Logan's Warning as revealed by Atlas Shrugs. It is amazing how many people do not understand the warlike intentions of Islam. The activities of Islam as lived out by the Taliban and Al Quaeda and various other Islamoterrorist organizations such as the PLO all believe that they should dominate and/or murder non-muslims and that their god approves of their actions.

Logan's Warning is a site that is rising from the ashes of a site that (according to available evidence) very likely was taken down by an attack because the previous site was willing to publish the truth about Islam and we all know how much darkness likes light. Thanks to Pam over at Atlas Shrugs (her blog, anyway) I became aware of this, read the blog and promptly added it to my blogroll.

If you are a fine blogger friend and your blog address has changed or by chance I have failed to put your blog on my blogroll, kindly point this out to me and I will add you. The can opener was invented 48 years after the can. Sometimes it takes people awhile to figure things out. As the Obama administration works to pass out goodies to legislators to buy their votes on Obamacare and pressures them to work over the weekend to get it done, so you should begin sending emails, faxes and phone calls to your legislators telling them to just say NO! We all know they are desperate to get this passed before the public understands just how costly and damaging it is. If your legislators KNOW you know how bad it really is they will hesitate to approve it for fear of losing their position and they should have that fear. We Tea Party Patriots or 912'ers or whatever you want to call us can vote and organize and publish evidence and we KNOW AND KEEP TRACK of voting records. We know that deals get made sometimes so that maybe a guy votes against a bill because other votes are already bought but be sure you Democrats know that, if that bill passes, we are tossing you all out if possible. Not all of the voting public is ignorant.

Oh yes, and thinking of Islam not only made me think of the Obama administration because of his kowtowing to foreign leaders but also his disregard for the safety of our fighting men and apparent love of evil. Otherwise, why would Barack Obama post a GLSEN guy to be the Czar of "Safe Schools", Kevin Jennings. Safe for who, pedophiles?! Bonnie Kuzminski of the Northwest Indiana Patriots posted the following information:

They prepared this report involving ‘Safe Schools Czar’ Kevin Jennings and the organization he founded, GLSEN, and asked that I find a way to help draw attention to what they uncovered. Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings was the founder, and for many years, Executive Director of an organization called the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). GLSEN started essentially as Jennings’ personal project and grew to become the culmination of his life’s work. And he was chosen by President Obama to be the nation’s Safe Schools Czar primarily because he had founded and led GLSEN (scroll for bio).

GLSEN’s stated mission is to empower gay youth in the schools and to stop harassment by other students. It encourages the formation of Gay Student Alliances and condemns the use of hateful words. GLSEN also strives to influence the educational curriculum to include materials which the group believes will increase tolerance of gay students and decrease bullying. To that end, GLSEN maintains a recommended reading list of books that it claims “furthers our mission to ensure safe schools for all students.” In other words, these are the books that GLSEN’s directors think all kids should be reading: gay kids should read them to raise their self-esteem, and straight kids should read them in order to become more aware and tolerant and stop bullying gay kids. Through GLSEN’s online ordering system, called “GLSEN BookLink,” featured prominently on their Web site, teachers can buy the books to use as required classroom assignments, or students can buy them to read on their own.

According to GLSEN’s own press releases from the period during which its recommended reading list was developed, the organization’s three areas of focus were creating “educational resources, public policy agenda, [and] student organizing programs”; in other words, the reading list (chief among its “educational resources”) was of prime importance in GLSEN’s efforts to influence the American educational system.

The list is divided into three main categories: books recommended for grades K-6; books recommended for grades 7-12; and books for teachers. (The books on the list span all genres: fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, even poetry.)

Out of curiosity to see exactly what kind of books Kevin Jennings and his organization think American students should be reading in school, our team chose a handful at random from the over 100 titles on GLSEN’s grades 7-12 list, and began reading through.

What we discovered shocked us. We were flabbergasted. Rendered speechless.

We were unprepared for what we encountered. Book after book after book contained stories and anecdotes that weren’t merely X-rated and pornographic, but which featured explicit descriptions of sex acts between pre-schoolers; stories that seemed to promote and recommend child-adult sexual relationships; stories of public masturbation, anal sex in restrooms, affairs between students and teachers, five-year-olds playing sex games, semen flying through the air. One memoir even praised becoming a prostitute as a way to increase one’s self-esteem. Above all, the books seemed to have less to do with promoting tolerance than with an unabashed attempt to indoctrinate students into a hyper-sexualized worldview.

We knew that unless we carefully documented what we were reading, the public would have a hard time accepting it. Mere descriptions on our part could not convey the emotional gut reaction one gets when seeing what Kevin Jennings wants kids to read as school assignments. So we began scanning pages from each of the books, and then made exact transcriptions of the relevant passages on each page.

Are we exaggerating, or misconstruing quotes that could be interpreted a different way? No: Read the passages below and judge for yourself. There’s no wiggle room. The language is explicit, the intent clear.

There is more, but it gets much, much worse and I invite you to click the link if you need to be more disgusted. Jennings is a promoter of NAMBLA, which should be no surprise. Unless you are a big fan of school teachers having sex with your children, you should by now be both alarmed and angered by Barack Obama's version of HOPE and CHANGE. If you hope that we become a socialist nation ruled by tyranny and that our freedoms are lost, our houses taken away and our children raped by adults while boards are convened to determine whether we should live or die or be able to have children, then you are getting happier by the minute!

Oh yeah, dear EPA, if you think CO2 is a pollutant you had better begin killing off every organism on the planet to rid us of this dangerous gas! Dear voters, do not be fooled, this is yet another play to take over the control of the economy and the free citizens of the USA by regulation. I am of the opinion that the Obama administration seeks to bring about a terrible recession that opens the door to them taking over even more industries until they have a defacto dictatorship. DOGS

In many Islamic countries, dogs are considered to be on a level with vermin. So now having considered Islam and Obama, my thoughts turn to dogs. While I am alarmed and disgusted with the plans of Barack Obama and know that Islam is my enemy because I love God and freedom, I really love dogs.

Dogs are loyal friends. Some dogs are hard workers who help their owners at their jobs, whether herding animals out in the fields, rescuing people in distress or sniffing out drugs and banned products at airports. Not all dogs are working dogs and some of them are simply good companions. In most areas of the world dogs are valued as guard dogs or at least watchdogs. Many cultures also value them as pets.

In our home we have an Alaskan Husky, a dog breed not recognized by most organizations, a breed designed to be able to pull dogsleds over snowy treks for long periods of time at good speeds. Faith is a classic of her breed of mutts, with many features of the German Shepard and the Alaskan Malamute and a hint of Wolf and perhaps one of the other herding breeds. Faith 's "job" is to guard her family, teach the younger dog, and drag her human "Mommy" member of the pack for long walks at top speeds around our subdivision.

Faith likes to have rules and regulations in place and seeks to follow them carefully herself. For instance, late in the evening her place is next to the Big Dog (me) on the recliner/loveseat. This is a treasured position. Our younger dog likes to be there, but at a specific time each evening (plus or minus about one half hour) Faith will, like clockwork, come and look appealingly at me if Chloe is in her place. I say the magic words, "Time for pup up" and Chloe knows to clamber down and allow Faith to hop up and take her position. Faith is a strong and athletic 75 pounds of finely tuned dog, a tribute to brilliant dog design...and she has a one ear down look that is unbearably appealing.

Chloe was our Christmas Puppy of last year. She is a Bloodhound/German Shepard mix who is already bigger and heavier than Faith but she has been raised to concede that Faith is the Alpha Dog on the dog end of the pack, which in the minds of the dogs include people and dogs together in one family unit. Chloe may approach 100 pounds when fully grown. She has less saggy/bagginess around the mouth and face than a standard Bloodhound but is otherwise much like the classic of the breed. She has a brilliant nose. She is amiable and loving but quite strong-willed.

I find that Faith learns new tricks and tasks like the star student, very fast to understand and sincerely enjoying the learning experience. Chloe tends to be slow to learn new things unless she sees any advantage to learning. Should there be an actual fight between them Faith's speed and quickness would win the day but fortunately they are exceedingly close. It is humorous to see Chloe's occasional attempts to jump ahead of Faith on the ladder of authority, something like sticking a foot into the ocean to decide whether it is too cold for swimming. Neither dog ever tries to take authority over their humans and we all get along just fine.

(Those *recently renamed security company* television commercials, in which big, strong, dangerous-looking men flee from a home inhabited by vulnerable women after smashing through a door because a little alarm is beeping? Not happening in real life. If a guy has made the decision to smash his way through your door a little beep isn't stopping him any more than the locked door did. But a couple of big, barking dogs with shiny white teeth? Yeah, that might do it. I like my burglar alarms much better than some little alarm system that connects you to a bored telephone operator a couple of states away or even a couple of miles away. Around these parts most of us homeowners have a gun or two or three as well.)

Some dogs get bored easily and some do not. Some shed like mad and some have hair that mats. There are dogs that enjoy just laying around and can tolerate being left alone and others that must have stimulation and exercise regularly. If you pick the wrong dog it can be a very unhappy experience for you and also the dog.

My mother-in-law and aunt-in-law have a kennel. For many years they have raised championship Chows and Samoyeds. They have shown dogs at countless shows and had their dogs win numerous trophies and ribbons and grand championships. They are getting on in years so now they have quit breeding Chow-Chows and have settled into breeding just a few Samoyeds. Their dogs are prized amongst those who breed and show Samoyeds and with good reason. I know they screen dogs carefully before breeding and have them thoroughly checked as puppies so that the breed remains strong. For those who love Sammies, their dogs are well worth owning.

Sadly, many puppies are sold in pet stores, puppies that have been cranked out in puppy mills that do not have any regard to proper socialization of their animals or the stability of their breeding stock. These places are concerned only with money. Those cute little furballs in their small cages are often a time bomb of physical and emotional problems waiting to go off in your home. Don't go there!

If you wish to have a purebred dog and you know what breed you seek, then check out the AKC or similar organizations and find the official breed club for the breed online and find out which kennels and breeders are certified. If you do wish to spend the extra money to get a classic purebred dog then you want to get a dog that is within breed standards and is a product of well-bred and properly kept parents in dog-friendly circumstances.

Now my wife and I prefer to rescue dogs. We got our great and recently passed friend Jack from a family who found they could not take their rapidly growing "puppy" (who soon surpassed 120 pounds) to their new home and so we gladly took him off of their hands. Jack was a Pointer-Rottweiler mix of whom I have previously blogged but he gave us almost eleven years of great friendship and fun.

Faith was left tied to a pole and abandoned as a young dog. She then spend a month at the pound unclaimed. We had prayed for God to find us a dog and when we walked into the County animal shelter the clerks announced to us that they had "the dog for us" in a pen right in the lounge area. That dog was Faith (already named by the staff). We went into the kennel areas and looked over all those poor abandoned dogs, most of them mutts. I like mutts. But no dog seemed to hit the family spot and so we went back out and looked at Faith seriously. The Lake County pound wisely gives animals out on a trial with the option of returning them within, I believe, a week but it took one day for us to know Faith was absolutely the right dog for our family.

Faith came to us on Mother's Day and my wife says that one gift was enough for every Mother's Day yet to come. She really loves this dog! I have four offspring living at home with us, three college kids and one high school senior, and the "right" dog needed to be loving and smart and interesting and trainable. Yep. Later on we realized that she was a classic Alaska/Alaskan Husky (an unofficial breed) and although she does not pull a sled, she can definitely pull a human being with a strong and steady gait if said human wants a nice workout.

Chloe was also an abandoned dog who was staying with a family that provides temporary foster homes for unclaimed/abandoned animals. We had first agreed to take a different dog that wound up being infected with heartworms, but at the same time a Bloodhound-Shepard mix puppy had landed there and was available just before Christmas, so whereas we had not planned on getting yet another dog that would approach or exceed the one hundred pound mark we simply could not resist her. So Chloe came to live with us. Late at night Faith kicks Chloe off the reclining loveseat and shares it either with me or both me and my wife. Chloe then goes over to another recliner about three feet away and lumbers her way on up for the evening. When we have company over late at night Chloe gets concerned about someone sitting in her assigned spot.

One evening Chloe and Faith were both worn out from a good, long walk and Faith wanted up in her place early. She gave me her look but I told her no for it was too early. Undaunted, Faith hopped up and laid right on top of Chloe and the rather phlegmatic younger dog just laid there and tried to get back to sleep. Faith wiggled and wedged her way in to her own piece of the recliner and then laid down in her classic big-shouldered flat position while Chloe maintained her sprawl. We call Chloe a "Clumber Hound" or a "Sag Hound" both for her extra skin around the neck and her comparatively lumbering style when viewed alongside Faith. But Chloe is pretty fast and can keep up with Faith's pace when being walked in tandem.

Santa

Had a pre-post for the next five reasons series. A little bit of humor. Being attacked by migraines, I am not able to concentrate but can have a little fun so here we go.

Alphabetical order, the top five fairytales:

Big Bang
Evolution
Extra-Terrestrial Aliens
Santa Claus
Tooth Fairy

Here is how they rank by level of believability:

1) Santa Claus (believability 2 on a scale of 100) -Hey, at least this guy is based on a real person. Saint Nicholas was a good man who became Bishop of Myra at a young age, a guy who gave to the poor, helped the needy and is not thought to have ever climbed down a chimney. How did we get from celebrating a good Christian man as a role model to a fat guy in a red suit with flying reindeer climbing down your chimney into your front room?

Now, maybe 100 years ago or so most Western houses still had fireplaces and big chimneys and even hand-washed socks and hung them by the fire. But when people still tell their little children about Santa, it must soon occur to them that the idea that a stranger is able to break into the house for any reason must be alarming on some level. I am surprised more five-year-olds don't sleep with baseball bats.

Besides that, to give presents to five billion people in one twenty-four hour period would require millions of Santas all moving at super speeds, causing widespread airplane crashes and worldwide panic. Dogs would be ripping off pieces of red furry coats, radar operators would retire with massive headaches, the world would be turned upside down one night each year. Who would pay for all of this? Who could coordinate it? Maybe two on a scale of 100 is too high?

2-3 is a tie) Evolution (macro) (1 on a scale of 100). So Santa is based on a real guy. Well, micro-evolution is a real thing. We call it variation within kind. A very simple thought process by a very simple mind might conclude that since dogs can have litters of puppies with different colors and coats, they might well be able to have litters of velociraptors as well. But a scientist should not believe it! We can identify a coding mechanism within living organism that allows for variation within kinds in order to help kinds of animals survive differing environments but there is simply no evidence at all for one kind of animal becoming something else. As a dog owner, I am content with this. I do not WANT a velociraptor of any age in my home! So this one gets a one in that the simple mind might consider it for a few minutes. But scientists have been able to test this one and all that still believe in macro-evolution should simply be ashamed of themselves.

2-3) Tooth Fairy (1 on a scale of 100). So there is an operation that occurs in many families, in which a tooth is left under a pillow before you go to sleep and, when you awake, money is there instead. That earns this fairy tale a one, since something is happening. But, again, simple logic soon leads children to realize that it is a parental unit and not some Tootherbell who is leaving coinage under the pillow.

The budding scientist will pretend to be asleep and observe the parent sneaking in with that half-dollar for his or her self out of half-closed eyes. The alarmist will begin to think about home security and then the baseball bats come out again. Oh, and if you are past the single digit years and a parental unit is sneaking into your room at night you may well decide to lock the door? Parents? Once kids are no longer little any sneaking into rooms at night borders on creepy so just forget about rewarding extracted wisdom teeth from teens, okay?

4) ET the Extra-terrestrial. (0 on a scale of 100). Seriously. Have you given any thought to how long it would take and how much energy to travel at even one-fourth of light speed from what might possibly be a planetary system in the vicinity of Alpha Centauri or Sirius? Would ET decide to live for thousands of years having generations live and die in space just to reach Earth? Where would he get the energy to go that fast and then where would he get it to stop once he got here?

Are there all sorts of sightings of a supernatural (apparently) or otherwise other-worldly nature? Yep. But the whole space alien thing is childish. There is no warp drive, space cannot be folded, you could not survive a trip through a black hole, there is not enough energy to begin and steer a bubble in space and etc. Give it up!

5) The Big Bang. (is there a less than zero on a scale of 100?) C'mon, man! Everything came from nothing with no cause? You intend to call that science? We did that kind of let's pretend stuff when we were four years old...well, by the time you were six or seven anyway, right? Don't tell me you were still pretending to be Spiderman when you were a teenager? Okay, maybe you were. Fine. There needs to be a little bit of child left in someone or they are going to be insufferably boring.

Okay, but how about that Bang? When I read all of these theories they are like playing an unwinnable game of Whack-a-Mole! The background radiation doesn't work, so you adjust and then there are too many subatomic particles, and then there is the red-shift problem and the shape problem and all the evidence that if there was an explosion it had to be in phases and under some kind of control and still the composition of the Universe does not compute. Scientists have bent and shaped and spun this idea into marvelous origami designs but nothing that actually comes close to fitting the evidence.

I think it is tragic that brilliant minds like Stephen Hawking would spend their lives contemplating this ludicrous hypothesis. What if it turned out that the entire Universe was composed of vibrating strings? What if space turns out to be a medium that is too difficult for us to observe properly? What if light is neither a particle nor a wave but something else again that we cannot define? What if subatomic particles know that they are being observed, or rather, what if the Creator of the particles knows? What if?

It cracks me up when people critique the Bible account of creation because it does not fit their idea of how the Universe SHOULD have been created. What, did you go to the library and check out Universes For Dummies? God tells us how He did it. He didn't ask for your permission to do it. Granted, He didn't ask if you wanted to be born either, but you were, so go ahead and choose to believe in God or not. Go ahead and believe that nothing created everything by no means for no reason. Go ahead and believe all things just happened. Now tell me why there should be any logic or meaning or purpose in such a Universe? How dare scientists expect the Universe to be governed by logical and consistent laws and yet deny that such a Universe would have required planning and execution? Utter foolishness. Unfortunately an IQ test does not account for common sense and wisdom. So there are large numbers of educated fools indoctrinating our children (attempting, anyway) in the ways of foolishness. The Big Bang is a perfect example of ludicrous raised to the nth degree and accepted as part of the accepted paradigm.

What the heck, if you believe in any of the other five, you probably buy the idea of a rabbit hiding eggs all over the place for you, too. I give up!

Mark Leyva is likely running for Congress against an Obama rubber-stamp named Viscloskey. Leyva has only a tiny chance to win, since the Congressional First District in Indiana includes East Chicago, Gary and Hammond, poverty-stricken areas where the residents vote almost 100% Democrat while the guys they vote in run their communities into the ground. It is truly heartbreaking to drive through (doors locked and ready to drive like a maniac) through parts of Gary that used to be rows of small mansions but are now havens for gangs and squatters and addicts. Fancy stone lions still guard some houses once majestic that now have broken windows and falling-in roofs. Yet the common man votes Democratic like he takes a breath. What a shame!

Wow.

The big green line is the actual temperatures heading back down, which they have been doing for ten years now. Best hope the cooling doesn't last much longer, lots of people tend to die when a genuine period of cold takes over.

I think Barack Obama is the biggest hoax in American history, but that is a story for another day.

Veteran's Day is different this year

I was unhappy when Barack Obama was elected to the Presidency and I was unhappier as the government began taking over private businesses. I was alarmed when I realized that my President was joined at the hip with crooked organizations like ACORN and the SEIU, let alone that he was raised on communism and nurtured on racial politics. When Cash for Clunkers began with the American taxpayer paying to destroy good vehicles that would have benefitted thousands of lower-middle income families I got mad. When I realized how "Czar" after "Czar" represented the worst of socialist and ungodly viewpoints I got madder.

But now it is personal. I am a soldier, the son of a soldier and the father of a soldier. The Commander in Chief is responsible for the disposition of our troops and he refuses to do a darn thing about conditions that are slaughtering my brothers and sisters in arms. I am thankful that my son is out of the military now, has his honorable discharge and is pursuing his education. But both of my "godsons" and one "godson-in-law" are in the military right now. I have friends and the relatives of friends preparing to go to Iraq and Afghanistan. There is no excuse for their lives to be put in danger needlessly.

President Obama's indecision concerning Afghanistan is killing Americans. It is as if he is channeling Lyndon Baines Johnson's cluelessness with a big dose of Jimmy Carter's indecision seasoned with the carelessness of Marie Antoinette. The news media say that "Obama is deciding" between four options presented to him by his military advisors and commanders. That is MSM-speak for "waffling." After all, the major news media helped create him in the first place so it is hard for them to speak or admit the truth. The truth is that Barack Obama has not brought either hope or change with him to the White House unless you hope that America will become the new Soviet Union and want your money to change hands and be given to everybody else.

Harry Truman would have acted already. George Bush would have made a decision. Ronald Reagan would have made a move. John F. Kennedy would have already begun a course of action. But Barack Obama does...nothing.

All you people who voted for Obama so he would "get us out of Iraq?" I thought you were wrong, but let me ask you, how's that going? All of you who believed the Democrats when they said that the real fight was in Afghanistan, let me ask you, what has this Obama Administration decided to do in Afghanistan? Heck, Pakistan is fighting the Taliban right now, where they live, in the border area where the mountain passes are a continual invitation for ambush and the rugged terrain defies much of our modern machinery. The Waziristan offensive is costly to the Pakistani Army and threatens the existence of the current Pakistani Administration, but they have the guts to take the fight to the Islamofascist enemy. President Obama could barely acknowledge the Fort Hood tragedy nor equate it with terrorism.

Did Obama really care about the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall? Or did he simply wish to promote himself? Did he notice the 234th anniversary of the Marine Corps on Tuesday?

*Hoorah, Marines! Semper Fi!* I am an Army guy but much respect to the Corps!

My American military brethren are dying in Afghanistan, dying literally, dying for direction, dying for support, dying while Barack Obama puts off making any decision whatsover. What happens if an elected government in Afghanistan is taken over by Islamofascists? What if Pakistan falls to them (along with a cache of nuclear weapons)? Nero fiddled while Rome burned, it is said.

When you want something done, you don't hand a baby a power tool. America is desperate for leadership but what we get is rhetoric and a poorly veiled attempt to make big government bigger, more invasive, more pervasive and much less like the America sketched out by the Constitution.

I hope those of you who voted for Obama and his cronies are happy. Obama is fighting to turn our country into a socialist totalitarian state while our young people are fighting and dying without real leadership overseas. The elections of 2010 cannot come soon enough! We need to begin throwing the old dogs out and bringing in actual representatives of the people. Hopefully by 2012 we will have identified a real leader who loves America for whom we veterans can cheerfully vote.

Barney Frank Present With Gay Partner When Arrested for Pot Possession in 2007

It just doesn’t stop. On Democrat Congressman Barney Frank:

Rep. Barney Frank admitted Friday that he was sitting on the porch of his partner’s Maine home when police came to arrest his partner for marijuana possession.

Frank, responding to new reports that he was present during the Aug. 2007 arrest of James Ready, said in a statement he was unaware Ready had marijuana plants.

According to a police report obtained by MyFoxBoston, Maine police arrested and charged James Ready with marijuana possession, cultivation and use of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty to civil possession and paid a fine. The remaining charges were dismissed last year.

Frank was not charged.

Frank is the author of a medical marijuana bill that would outlaw the prosecution of persons who use marijuana for medicinal purposes.

Let’s not forget the time Barney Frank had an affair with a male prostitute, whom he paid to have sex with, and that subsequently the lover ran a prostitution ring out of Frank’s apartment.

Funny, most of the heroes are actually heroines!

This morning my wife and I went to a Tea Party meeting and discussed options concerning taking back our country from special interests and career, corrupt politicians. While those very politicians try to pretend the Tea Party movement is funded by special interests, it is in fact just bunches of citizens getting together to protest big government fraud and waste and make an attempt to have our representatives actually represent us. In the last year many millions of us have gathered at courthouses and town meetings and even about 1.8 million at one time in Washington, DC. We are not necessarily representing one party but we are representing one ideal. That ideal is that of a representative government ruled by our Constitution. Call us 912'ers or Patriots or Tea Party People or Tea-Baggers, we are not going away!

We watched a preview of Tea Party - The Movie and enjoyed a fine guest speaker in Jeffrey Cole of Grassfire/Resistnet and had a vigorous discussion afterwards. The presentation was held in a church building and we began with a pledge of allegiance and the singing of the Star-Spangled Banner. As I looked at the huge cross at the front of the church and then around me at the mix of young and old in attendance I found myself feeling hopeful. I do believe that the people can make a difference. Who would have thought America could have broken free from England in the first place? America is easier to reclaim than it was to begin but both efforts need a majority of people to give a rip about freedom! Do you?

While Michelle Bachmann called for a meeting in DC on November 5th at short notice (see this video) and around 45,000 people showed up, others showed up at town meetings all over the nation. My wife attended one in Munster, Indiana with Rep. Pete Visclosky and many others attended on in Hammond on the same day with Senator Evan Bayh. The most intelligent response Senator Bayh came up with was that "we have doctors who have cut off the wrong foot." Oh, so adding billions of dollars, long waiting periods, stacks of additional forms and untold numbers of bureaucrats will make sure an intern doesn't tag the wrong toe? Destroying the economy and who knows what else with a bill no one really understands and no one is willing to explain fixes that how?

Personal witness from someone in Washington on the 5th was that there were twelve arrests (none during the big event earlier) but the first came when Nancy Pelosi began yelling at a Patriot and the Patriot dared to yell back and Pelosi demanded that the person be arrested. The Red Queen must truly believe she is royalty.

So how can you be a hero?

1) Contact your Representative in Congress and your Senators via phone, email and or mail and let them know what you think about Obamacare, Cap and Trade and other issues of fundamental importance. Let them know you are monitoring their voting record...and then do it!

2) Join with other Patriots. Facebook has a Tea Party Patriots page, for instance. If you google for Tea Party or 912 organizations you will find others in your area who actually care enough about the country to work and vote for actual change rather than the fake stuff Obama was peddling.

3) Make sure you are registered to vote and vote! Sometimes the primaries are the most important elections locally so pay attention to candidates and seek to support those who represent your values.

Coming is a Saturday when we are going to a big rally in Warsaw, Indiana. We will be gathering in Warsaw, Indiana on November 21st as taxpayers and citizens. My wife and I are members of the Northwest Indiana Patriots (NWIP) and no one is funding us. We are just a big crowd of voters. No Astroturf in the bunch. We'll pay our own way there and back for the sake of our country and not because some fatcat is paying us. We don't have a George Soros!

By the way, the Republican Party called me this afternoon and asked for a donation and I declined. Once I contributed money to help elect George Bush over both John "F" Kerry and Al "Lear Jet" Gore. But not any longer. When the Republican Party abandons conservative principles they abandon me. When they spend $900,000 to elect a poseur RINO like Dede Scozzafava, selected in private, rather than the conservative Doug Hoffman then I refuse to give them a penny.

2010 is coming and I am voting for the best candidates regardless of party affiliation. 2010 is coming and the general public is getting angry at Washington and in the mood to toss out incumbents and try new people. 2010 is coming and every single politician who votes for Obamacare should be booted out of office!

Well, I have done it! I have read the entire text of proposed House
Bill 3200: The Affordable Health Care Choices Act of 2009. I studied
it with particular emphasis from my area of expertise, constitutional
law. I was frankly concerned that parts of the proposed law that were
being discussed might be unconstitutional. What I found was far worse
than what I had heard or expected.

To begin with, much of what has been said about the law and its
implications is in fact true, despite what the Democrats and the
media are saying. The law does provide for rationing of health care,
particularly where senior citizens and other classes of citizens are
involved, free health care for illegal immigrants, free abortion
services, and probably forced participation in abortions by members
of the medical profession.

The Bill will also eventually force private insurance companies out
of business and put everyone into a government run system. All decisions
about personal health care will ultimately be made by federal
bureaucrats and most of them will not be health care professionals.
Hospital admissions, payments to physicians, and allocations of
necessary medical devices will be strictly controlled.

However, as scary as all of that it, it just scratches the surface.
In fact, I have concluded that this legislation really has no intention
of providing affordable health care choices.

Instead it is a
convenient cover for the most massive transfer of power to the
Executive Branch of government that has ever occurred, or even been
contemplated. If this law or a similar one is adopted, major portions
of the Constitution of the United States will effectively have been
destroyed.

The first thing to go will be the masterfully crafted balance of
power between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches of the
U.S. Government. The Congress will be transferring to the Obama
Administration authority in a number of different areas over the
lives of the American people and the businesses they own. The irony is
that the Congress doesn't have any authority to legislate in most of those
areas to begin with.

I defy anyone to read the text of the U.S.
Constitution and find any authority granted to the members of
Congress to regulate health care.

This legislation also provides for access by the appointees of the
Obama administration of all of your personal healthcare information,
your personal financial information, and the information of your
employer, physician, and hospital.

All of this is a direct violation
of the specific provisions of the 4th Amendment to the
Constitution protecting against unreasonable searches and seizures.
You can also forget about the right to privacy.

That will have been
legislated into oblivion regardless of what the 3rd and
4th Amendments may provide.

If you decide not to have healthcare insurance or if you have private
insurance that is not deemed "acceptable" to the "Health Choices
Administrator" appointed by Obama there will be a tax imposed on you.

It is called a "tax" instead of a fine because of the intent to avoid
application of the due process clause of the 5th Amendment.

However, that doesn't work because since there is nothing in the law
that allows you to contest or appeal the imposition of the tax, it is
definitely depriving someone of property without the "due process of
law.

So, there are three of those pesky amendments that the far left hate
so much out the original ten in the Bill of Rights that are
effectively nullified by this law. It doesn't stop there though.

The
9th Amendment that provides: "The enumeration in the
Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or
disparage others retained by the people;"

The 10th
Amendment states: "The powers not delegated to the United States by
the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are preserved
to the States respectively, or to the people." Under the provisions of
this piece of Congressional handiwork neither the people nor the
states are going to have any rights or powers at all in many areas
that once were theirs to control.

I could write many more pages about this legislation, but I think you
get the idea. This is not about health care; it is about seizing
power and limiting rights.

Article 6 of the Constitution requires the
members of both houses of Congress to "be bound by oath or
affirmation" to support the Constitution.

If I was a member of
Congress I would not be able to vote for this legislation or anything
like it without feeling I was violating that sacred oath or
affirmation. If I voted for it anyway I would hope the American
people would hold me accountable.
