Tomorrow, I'm moderating a chat with a pair of fantasy authors, Sheri McGathy and Shannah Blondine. I've known Sheri since about 2000 when her book, Elfen Gold was out at the same time as my Death of Jabari. We still hang out on the same fantasy writer's email list.

Here's some info on both ladies and how to get into the chat. I hope you'll join us.

Born in the Buckeye state, Sheri McGathy was uprooted in 1971 and replanted amongst sunflowers, tornadoes, and college football. she says it's a good life.

Update on the wildfires here. The news this morning reports over 1000 of them in California, most of them in the northern part of the state. It's wild how some of them started too: dry lightning, sparks from a car crash. You can smell it in the air. Please keep the firefighters in your thoughts and prayers. They have their hands full.

Here in Northern California, we're having some really hazy days. It's due to smoke from some 800 wildfires being trapped in by the fog/cloud layer. Normally we count on that layer to keep us cool. Just reminds me of how every good thing has it's down side. I'm staying inside like the authorities are suggesting and getting a lot of writing done. It's definitely affecting my body. I have a slight wheeze when I exhale. Summer fun!

The latest news on the homefront is I've been summoned for jury duty. The last time I did it, I was twenty-one. I do consider it a duty and don't mind doing it. We had a trip to New Mexico planned then so I guess that will get put off. Yeah, I know I could ask for a postponement but why? I don't have any emergency situation to deal with and really, it's a minor inconvenience to reschedule the trip. I'll leave the postponements to the people who need them.
