Fantastic opening cinematic. Totally 3D and it is a complete intuitive tutorial the entire way. Watch for the rock paper scissors way it works, they call it sun, moon stars. Get all your troups are together to form a unified guard (like Spartans in 300) and their defense goes way up.

Let your characters learn magic, and you can heal troups from a distance, shoot fireballs etc. You have archers that can attack at long range, guys that use spears that can attack 2 squares ahead (and no retaliation from guys with 1 square range swords).

Overall it is a great game and very challenging. Excellent addition and should be a must have for any PSP owner.

Aren't totally happy with the motion controls in Lair? We certainly weren't, but there is a way to control Factor 5's dragons with an analog stick -- provided you have a PSP. A member of the official PlayStation forums was messing around with their copy when they accidentally enabled Remote Play functionality, allowing them to control Lair -- running on their nearby PlayStation 3 -- via PSP, nub control and all.
Don't believe him? Plenty of users have confirmed the feature and 1UP's looking to tag some hands-on action of portable Lair later today, but here's something for the skeptics.

Your PSP is more than just for games and movies. There are more to it.

Your PSP is moving towards 'personal media players' rather than 'gaming' only. Sony's determined to expand its handheld's non-gaming capabilities. And this will differentiate itself from the rest and command a premium over the rest of the competitors.

You might have heard about its Go!Messenger VoIP project with BT, but Sony has also just unveiled plans for a satnav add-on, as well as on-demand TV downloads from Sky.

The satnav package is called Go!Explore, and offers navigation for cars and pedestrians in eleven different languages. The maps will be upgradeable, and you'll be able to buy Points Of Interest data from Sony's PlayStation Network, with "other exciting Wi-Fi features" coming in the future. I'm guessing that might be live traffic data.

Meanwhile, there'll also be a Go!-branded video downloads service in partnership with Sky, allowing you to grab sports, films, entertainment and music shows to watch on your PSP. Sky is aiming to work with other broadcasters to make their content available too.

Last year’s goodies are back – you swing by pressing one of the face buttons and can influence that swing’s direction by moving the left analog stick. Pitching is still based on a timing mechanism that involves two precise actions for the best possible throw.

Out on the field players will discover that, to pass the ball more effectively, they can hold the throw button (X) to increase their power. The length of your hold determines how hard the ball will be thrown. A circular meter appears around the player and grows to show how much power has been created.

The natural reaction might be to hold the button for a bit every time. But there’s a risk that’ll keep you from going crazy – hard throws are unstable. You can’t guarantee that a hard throw won’t fly off course, which would be far more damaging.

On the batting end, players can still predict the pitch and where it will land. The combination is hard to master, but the intuitive controls and high-speed Game Play will keep you hooked regardless.

Shooing away the dog, Parin discovers that her new little friend, Pino, is quite literally a monster. Pino thanks Parin for saving her life and takes Parin to meet the other monsters in Monster Village, who eventually become Parin's only friends in town. They play together night and day until the phantoms come and kidnap some of Parin's friends. She wants to save her kidnapped friends, so Parin pulls out the legendary drill from its stone, and uses it to defeat the phantoms. So begins her grand adventure....

From September 1st, Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects, FIFA 06, 2006 FIFA World Cup, Fight Night Round 3, Madden NFL 06 and NBA Live 06 will no longer be playable online, while Need for Speed Most Wanted is destined to suffer the same fate on November 1st.

However, fortunately, the recent titles like the forthcoming will not be affected.

If you have some scores to settle, you better do it fast before they are all gone.

While Sony is struggling to keep the PSP firmware secure to prevent homebrew software, they might actually start supporting these home made applications in the future. According to Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America, the PSP homebrew crowd has delivered some fine work in the past and they’d like to tap into that a little more.

Tretton said that he thinks that homebrew is something that is in the works. He has seen some of the stuff that has been created and it’s incredibly creative and that he’d like to tap into that a little more. Dave Karraker, senior director of corporate communications with SCE jumped in however and said that there are several problems with homebrew software of which viruses and malicious software created by dirty hackers are a few of them...

If this is true, it will create a big stir in the gaming. Certainly, I believe it will boost the PSP sales to skyrocketing. Probably another bullet aiming at Nintendo. This is sci-fi coop RPG action game. The version for PSP has shipped to retailers. You either like it very much or hate it very much. The Games made full use of the Wii-mote and Nunchuk.

The story is rather straight forward: Earth Command Trooper Alieen Harding, is tasked with the seemingly impossible mission of wiping out legions of aliens and their oversized bosses. I’m almost convinced that it would be too much of a cliche to actually say how cliche the storyline is. So I’m not going to.

Anyway, the game features “light” crafting that allows players to create new items or upgrade existing tools and weapons. Players will also have access to the SCARAB, which works as a sidekick that can be upgraded alongside Aileen, and pulls double duty as a vendor for purchasing or upgrading equipment.

Speaking of equipment, Alien Syndrome comes jam-packed with 20 different weapon types for players to wield against 100 different alien species. Some of these weapons include flamethrowers, shotguns, spreading projectiles and much more.

To round things out, the PSP version of Alien Syndrome is Wi-Fi enabled to support up to four-players cooperatively. Konami has used the PlayStation Premier event currently going on in Tokyo to reveal that an expansion to the hugely popular MGS Portable Ops (shown above) is on its way.

Called Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops+, the game is said to offer new levels and characters, and will be primarily concerned with the online play side of things. However, an all-new single-player mode, Infinity Mission, is also promised.

Due for Japan on September 20th (the day the new PSP is launched in the region), the game will apparently cost just Y2,400 (£9.60) in standalone version, or Y4,300 (£17) when bundled with the original Portable Ops.

There is no word of a Western version at this stage but it's obviously a possibility. We'll bring you more details with regards to the gameplay implications of the expansion's additions as soon as we get them, although we suspect they may be minimal – Japanese expansions of this sort tend to be conservative in their approach (a notion that is perhaps further supported in this inst

Firstly, what you need:

A memory stick that is enough to hold your movie
A computer with DVD player
A DVD Ripper software (conversion software)
