School started last week so all weekend before when I WOULD be comicing I was preparing and last week was full of lots of crazy back to school what not. Friday I was going to go up to uni(I've no classes that day) and get everything organized then work on comics. Well while up there I got roped into working(I'm a student worker) on something they have to have in the mail Monday. So....I ended up doing that ALL DAY and all day saturday. So today I hope to get tomorrows page ready and even another that I can maybe update TWO or just be ready for the next week....I feel really bad about this guys cause I was doing so well :(

Had to miss first class of Advanced Grammar to attend my Intro to Teaching Reading class.
I have TWO webclasses....I need to remember that. At least I have fridays off in which to hopefully do webclass stuff.
My on campus work hours went up as did my monies....oh ho ho!
The SAA did well at the organization fair and the soon to be SAEA is looking so good thanks to my VP/Senator. She's like a robot whose primary directive is to do everything immediately. I'm kind of sad that I haven't been able to devote as much time to it as her but hopefully now that everything is set up it will calm down.
we're making pamphlet stitch books tomorrow in bookmaking....I'm so excited....I wonder if I'll be good at it...

I kind of fancy the idea of being able to make people handmade journals and things. It seems so much nicer than "Oh here's a drawing for a present". I know it's both art as a gift but I think maybe I don't know if it's the usefulness of a book or the simple fact that I've been giving drawings as presents forever....Or maybe it's that when I give someone a drawing or print as a gift they don't understand it...Not that they don't appreciate it...I mean I have no idea if they do...but sometimes...I don't know....

Ok so it's been super hectic. I've been updating VERY regularly and even did stuff like added spotlights to the website, joined a collective, dropped the collective after having second thoughts, submitted myself to Tomgeeks, made fanart like crazy and still plan on making more, gotten half the dress cut out for the painting I want to do, I'm painting murals, working on the last of them now, COMPLETELY overhauled my room, took part in a garage sale (made $4 whoo), started and stopped working out(will resume as soon as SiL is finished fixing up the bathroom so I can take showers at night).

Finished the basics of the SAA webpage though, that was good. School starts on the 18th and I am VERY excited AND nervous. I signed off my financial aid but the uni is still saying I owe all of the money....I have enough financial aid to be getting money BACK no credit has been made to my account even though I have a nice little paper with a stamp on it claiming otherwise. My guess is the woman at the cashiers office just printed out my unchanged balance and stamped it(the new EXTREMELY FLAWED RECEIPT SYSTEM!) without marking in the comp that I have authorised them to take my aid as credits on the account. I could do a web authorization but without knowing what exactly they did I don't want to hit the lil button and then there be a huge screw up. Worst part is fees are due monday and even though I have a paper with a date on it saying I'm paid my uni likes to screw people in uncomfortable ways and unless I talk to someone I could lose my classes and have to fight to get them back because THEY made a mistake. Monday I'm going to the uni bookstore to open my account and get books, but no supplies because for some reason art people don't believe in blackboard.... I'm going to go by the cashiers office and my god the line will be so long :( I may try to call before I go if it's something I can clear over the phone(which of course it wont be, make things easy? no this is "excellence with a personal touch" and that translates into "give us your money and bend over"),

ARGH!
Anyway I decided to drop the other junkRIOT stories...sorry anyone hoping I'd do them(daniel) but I have so many avernyght stories to do and junkRIOT....well it's not as special to me as Avernyght is.

I LOVE SPIDERFOREST.
I dunno....maybe it's the not having to queue, maybe it's that it's full of nice people, maybe it's that the stats arent horrible skewed by having my own domain.....just had to put that out there.

Xmas Disney trip....getting paid off :D Have to pay it all by Nov. Won't be a problem.

So in conclusion, Avernyght updates tomorrow. Yay.

so a short while ago I applied to SpiderForest to see if Avernyght would be deemed good enough to make it in and get off of CG. Nothing against CG, I was with them for a long time, ran a fairly successful comic on CG, but I want something different for Avernyght.
Well, I got accepted. I've been spending the last few days moving stuff over and tweaking the site. I still have alot of stuff to update in the catalog and I still never got that damn art page running....and now I have to build an archive....no big deal I'm sure I can handle it.

ANYWAY!!! The SF link right now is http://avernyght.spiderforest.com , I'm in the process of moving the domain over, and while the CG site of http://avernyght.comicgenesis.com will still be up I will no longer update it, but I don't think anyone ever USED that link because I bought the domain long before the comic started.

Oh also there's a pretty bitchin update today.
Still not feeling much on Contessa, Keff? Cause it still kinda gets to me that you said that way back when ._.

Alright so today was the first real day of classes for me. Uni started on Tuesday but I only have on class on Tuesdays and Thrusdays. Today however I got hit with a blow of it being Wednesday-the day I'm on campus from 7:45 am to 8:05 pm...I was only there untill 6:30 due to first day though. Now if you know me you know I love school. I love school as much as regular people hate it. I love nothing more than sitting in class either listening to a good lecture or working on a project. Here's something I realized, now this is something I don't tell people, but I actually don't like taking classes with friends. Don't get me wrong it makes me happy to see familiar faces and know I can converse with someone about it...but it's the actual class time that I really could usually do without some people. Last semester there were a few exceptions to this. If my friend Megan had not been in my printmaking class I probably would have done very badly in it. I couldn't really focus in the class and I had troubles with alot of the types of printing we did. She also saved my sanity in Art 101 my first semester, she was the first McNeese friend I made. But Megan knows how to focus on her work when it's important...and she knows when I'm focusing. Basically I guess I'm saying she's the kind of person who can tell when I don't want to be bothered.
Unfortunately not alot of people know how that works. I'm not naming names and I'm not calling people out; I can't really think of anyone at the moment who is even guilty of the offense of interfering with my hard earned education. It's just one of those things I realized about myself today as I went through each class. Sure having friends in class ease tension and add a bit of informality and lighten the mood, but I'm not entirely sure I am the type of person who needs or wants that in my learning environment.
Ever seen the one Spongebob Squarepants episode where Patrick goes with him to school? No? Well there is an episode where Patrick goes with Spongebob to boating school because he misses Spongebob all day and Bob thinks it'll be fun to be classmates with his friend. The problem is Bob and Pat are very different about school. Bob is a brown-noser and Pat is uninterested. Pats goofs and tomfoolery get Bob in trouble and on the teachers bad side.
Well I'm a Spongebob.....and to me most everyone else is a Patrick. When I go into a classroom I go for a desk in the middle of the class, first desk in the row. Usually in front of the teacher...I can't help it that's how they usually put the desks! Not that I mind. I like it there, if I didn't I wouldn't always sit there.
Now what promted all this was today I walked into my first class, Classical Mythology. I am taking it with a Proff not many of the people I know know of, they usually all know the other mythology proff. I didn't expect to know anyone in the class, most of the people I know in the art dept. have finished their academics so I figured it'd be like all my other ones to this point. I walked in and made a B-line for the usual mid room first desk seat, head down, no eye contact, when I hear my name. Now I'm bad with voices=names so I wasn't sure who it was till I looked up and 4 seats down the row I was headed toward was Josh, not a close friend mind you but a cool guy I met through Megan. I kind of panicked. I knew a normal person would be friendly and go sit next to him....but I wanted my seat...the seat ahead of him was free so I did the math and figured 3rd seat down wasn't so bad, was it? I turned toward him and we talked until class started. Yay a victory for being social! that's 1 in what 3000000000000 now? not my best record but I'm trying. I didn't want to alienate him that's for sure. The whole time I kept wishing I had the 1st seat...mainly because the girl ahead of me kept blocking my view...I know "view of what" right? I don't know I'm weird I guess. Closer to professor, closer to god?

Maybe.

My next class went with no people I knew and I found myself feeling relieved. As I said I like Josh, he's a cool guy, but I guess I like a socially sterile learning environment.

The rest of the day was spent running from place to place trying to frame my pieces that made it into the Juried show. Both of the frame's I'd gotten were broken but not completely so I salvaged the good parts to frame one of them and luckily Wal*Mart let me exchange the other frame open with no receipt. Got both paintings framed and turned in. Got to work 2 hours today. That gave me lots of joy. My night class was nice but I was so exhausted from all the running I did today that I almost nodded off. I actually get to start making art tomorrow and Friday Mythology and my Lit class meet, so I'm sure that will be great :)

I just finished a rather quick FO. I didn't think something like this would be such a quick knit but it was! It's this cabled Hat from Lion Brand( yes you have to be logged in to see it but I mean it's free to sign up). The instructions call for 2 skeins of Wool Ease Chunky but I had recently bought quite a few skeins of Bernat's Softee Chunky and wanted to use them up ( they had been bought to make baby stuff for a pregnant co-worker but I ended up quitting that job just before Thanksgiving and I don't talk to any of my former co-workers). It only took less than one skein! I made a swatch for the first time ever(I know bad me you should always knit a swatch to check gauge and all that) and the gauge matched the one for the pattern, Happy me! So I used an off white color and casual knit it over my winter break(which still hasn't ended much to my dismay-I like school and miss it). It's a gift for the President of my Uni's Student Art club, she's a senior and will be moving to colder places soon and she is allergic to wool so since it's acrylic and chunky I thought it would be nice for her. Let me tell you it's better than I thought! It's warm and it covers your ears! I was nervous about how the flap in the back would look but it's so nice! I'm definitely going to make another of these for myself!

Ok big news on the art front! I got all A's this semester at school!!!!
AND I got two paintings into a show!
The warping issue was fixed on the kotex machine

I'm actually working on a painting outside of school...how wierd is that...I've never done that before. Hard to think I thought I was gonna hate painting when I stared...

My school is having another Art openeing tonight with a show by two artists who teach at UCSC(University of California at Santa Cruz). They gave a lecture today during my printmaking class and I went with some friends. Instead of taking notes I decided to try and do some sketching in my painting class sketchbook(the lecture was being held in the painting studio). Jimin Lee was easy because she barely moved while she talked, but Melissa Gwyn was difficult because she is a very animated speaker as is evident by the sketch, the leg positioning was the most difficult in hers.

The last artist we had was Kenn Kotara and he is actually from my area but these two ladies had never been here before so it was very nice having them. My husband says I should send them the sketches :x Should I?

A. Put at least 1/4 in newly aquired savings account that automatically gets a transfer of $25 a month from your checking anyway (the short answer is save it)
or
B. spend 1/4 on some really nice clothes that are very pretty and will be useful when you observe and student teach and are pretty (short answer is buy clothes)
