The furor around the young man's twitter confessions and his statement on Global Grind has attracted a murder of crows eager to pick at the bones of a confused 18 year old.

2 years ago nobody knew who he was. The child, as a part of generation 3.0, simply lived his life which, in part, includes social media. Who could know that the timing of a catchy dance, hook and the explosion of social media would take him out of the plebeian ether and into super-star stratosphere? He didn't know. He couldn't foresee the "mo' money more problems" meme to be played out in his personal life.

Most on-the-rise celebs I've ever known from areas such as sports or entertainment where a meteoric rise can bring together at once years of hope, work and sacrifice have faced a similar situation. They're human, too. For the athlete the issues are not exactly identical with the entertainer's issues but they are closely related.

Think about it. INSTANT celebrity. Your private life is gone, you can't REALLY know who to trust and relationships both personal and otherwise change forever in a dramatic way.

Do these people around me really care about me? Do they want what I can give them be it status, wealth or living large?

With such a dramatic shift in priorities, definitions and prospective isn't natural for one to wonder WHO they are, their purpose, their meaning?

Of course it is. We've seen it a dozen times this year. Why do you think celebs run out into traffic, lose themselves in vice or commit instant or extended suicide?

It's hard.

So I'm at the photo shoot for the single off of Atlanta-based rapper Small Eyez as I'm covering the process behind the release of the full mixtape for crib notes. ...That shoot was wild. Nikita Gale is an excellent photographer. Techni_Kohler is a magician with the makeup and the model Lisa was funny. Eyez and I slammed a few Stella's back as the shoot continued late into the night and then we all (save for TK) closed the night out at Cenci. Shout out to all the ladies there that night for letting two breeders like eyez and I come through and partake in the energy with y'all.

It's official. Spree Wilson is gone for NYC to pursue his ambitions as an artist. We all wish him well! This is a little montage I put together in celebration of his work and to send him off right. He was like a little brother to me. He will be missed.

This is some crazy stuff in this video...I interviewed Pill again recently for Creative Loafing and he stated that everything in this video was impromptu. He wanted to show that as much as they claim to be cleaning up Atlanta, that certain things still go on...and that there isn't hope for particular communities....

All photos featured by my 1690 co-host Maurice Garland, btw. I'll post some of mine later in a montage of shows at the year's end. Patience is the price of doing business as an analog photographer w/o a dark room handy. Nesby Phips opened up the show and what can I say but, "wow"? That guy had a great show. Good stage balance with his brother, and partner. I'd never heard of the man before that night, but word on the street is that he's doing production work for Curren$y. That makes a lot of sense because the first thing that smacks you in the face when listening to his music are the beats: hard, heavy and driving his story-line lyrics, I feel in love with Mr. Phips' sound immediately.

I think it's time that folks like Phips', Curren$y, Jay Electronica and The Knux reclaim part of that New Orleans hip hop Heritage that we know sprouts out of an early 80's sound not necessarily imbued with the "Bounce music" made famous by Cash Money records. Southern Hip Hop history goes much deeper than that alone.

Expecting a great show from Jaspects is what Atlantan's are used to doing. Despite the HEAT, they brought more fire from the stage, as usual. I don't see how those cat's didn't come right up out of those shirts and ties, though. It was Africa-Hot in there. I spent most of their and Devin's performance outside trying to cool off.

I hadn't seen Devin the Dude since...well, in a dogs age, it seems. Shameless Plug (the people who brought you Drake) has really come in and made some noise by bringing some quality acts. I look forward to murmurs of a future event I won't speak on, yet. Devin didn't disappoint. The man is just as funny on stage as he is on his albums, he blazed on stage with Hollyweerd and Spree Wilson and he tore the house down.

Me personally? I can't lie. I was geeked to see him, but so were some of the celebrities in attendance like Outkast's Dj and collaborator/ co-producer on Common's last album Mr. Dj and Dj Kizzy Rock.

Atlanta was out in full effect. It was packed EARLY. I think this will be a theme for Shameless Plug shows. Usually in Atlanta you can get away with leaving for a show at 11:00, maybe 11;30. Midnight was never too late to leave the house. Not with their shows. You best get there early if you want to get front row access.
