Gortat's decision is more disappointing than Artest's choice.

Of course Artest and Gortat's verbal agreements with other teams, pales in comparison to the gloom and doom surrounding the potential scenario of Yao Ming's missing the 2009 - 2010 season due to problems with the hairline fracture in his injured left foot.

Ariza stepped up his game for the Lakers during the 2009 NBA Playoffs; however, his game seems dependent on star players who'll command double teams which result in open shots for him. He's a good player in transition; and, he plays the passing lanes very well on defense.
<!--

One of the best scorers in college this past year. Very strong. Can shoot. Athletic. A guy that faced significant defensive attention - double, triple teams while he was at Central Florida - obviously in a down conference; but, he played well against top opponents.

"Sergio Llull (34th overall from the Denver Nuggets), is a point guard from Real Madrid. He's sort of a combo guard. He plays the 1 and 2. A big guard (6'3"). We saw him as the second best international point guard in the Draft. We were excited to get him when we got him. We see him as someone who can help down the road.

"Finally, Chase Budinger (6'7") from Arizona. Very skilled. Very athletic. He helped Arizona win a lot of games over the last three years. He can shoot. He can pass. He can run the floor. We feel good about what we were able to accomplish.

"Mr. Alexander (Rockets' owner Les Alexander) really stepped up tonight for the Rockets. I gotta thank the fans and the season-ticket holders who, obviously, make this possible as well."

These three trades, reportedly, cost the Rockets $6 M.

Taylor and Budinger are expected to compete on the Rockets' Summer League team; but, Llull is expected to stay overseas. Llull has two years remaining on his contract with Real Madrid.

Morey described Taylor as "a scorer. He's somebody who's very hard to guard. We just feel like with McGrady being questionable to start the year - that offensive punch that Jermaine could bring is a need we had. Plus, we thought he was one of the best guys available for where we got him."

While more and more NBA teams are planning to limit expenses and carry 13 or 14 players on a roster, the Rockets are expected to carry a full 15-man roster for the 2009 - 2010 season.

"We'll probably carry 15; and, we'll probably have some non-guaranteed (contracts) in there to keep our flexibility," Morey said.
<!--

"Houston is one of the top teams in the NBA. Definitely this year, I thought they had a chance to win the championship; but, due to some injuries that kind of limited them. They did a great job in the Playoffs. I feel that I can help them next year."

Budinger described his skill set as "being a playmaker. I can create for others. I add another spot at the wing position. I can score. I can shoot. I know when teams double Yao Ming; hopefully, they're going to leave me open for those three points and I'll knock those down."

10:16 p.m. --
HOUSTON, TX --- The Houston Rockets acquired the draft rights to shooting guard Jermaine Taylor (32nd overall) from the Washington Wizards in exchange for cash considerations (reportedly $2.5 M).

Taylor spoke to the local media via teleconference and said, "I'm so excited. This is something I've been waiting for since I can remember. Every time when someone would ask me what I want to be when I grow up, the only thing that came to my mind is to be an NBA player. So, now, I'm excited. I don't know what to think right now."

Taylor, 6'4" / 6'5", 210, averaged 26.2 points per game for Central Florida and he shot 48.0% from the field (37.6% from three) and 81.2% from the foul line during the 2008 - 2009 season.

Taylor added, "I'm a scorer. I'm ready to start my life in Houston. I have a scorer's mentality. I have a knack for putting the ball in the hoop. I know how to do that. (Scoring) that's what I'm good at. I've been doing that my whole life. I'm going to keep doing what I do best."

Taylor said, "I have the size to be a good defensive player. Not only can I score, I'm a good shooter. If they need someome to spot up shoot, I'll do everything I'm asked. I'm a talented player; athletic player. I'm just happy to be a Houston Rocket."

Taylor set a UCF single-game scoring record this season with 45 points versus the Rice Owls in a 69 to 66 loss. Taylor finished the night 14-of-29 from the field, made 5-of-13 three-pointers and connected on 12-of-13 free throws. He also had seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

In addition to obtaining Taylor, the Rockets also acquired the draft rights to the 34th pick overall from the Denver Nuggets point guard Sergio Llull (6'3", 190) from Real Madrid in Spain. Llull (pronounced Yule) averaged 8.6 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals per game in 21.8 minutes per game for Real Madrid in 2008 - 2009.
<!--

I only got six picks correct in this "FINAL" mock draft compared to 10 in the first one.

2:50 p.m. CDT. The 2009 NBA Draft takes place this evening.

This is my mock draft which means these selections are who I believe the teams will pick. I believe more trades will be made involving some of these draft picks; so, clearly, that will impact my choices.

This mock draft is only for the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft.

1. Los Angeles Clippers -- Blake Griffin, 6'10", forward, Oklahoma, sophomore.
Comment: With Griffin's talent and tremendous work ethic, the sky's the limit. Too bad he'll be a Clipper.

2. Memphis Grizzlies -- Hasheem Thabeet, 7'3", center, Connecticut, junior.
Comment: Thabeet is a defensive force with limited skills on offense. He can dunk and not much else. He's working on a face up jump shot.

3. Oklahoma City Thunder -- <strike>Ricky Rubio</strike><strike>,</strike> 6'5", Spain.
Comment: Very flashy passer. Inconsistent perimeter shooter. Loves to get his teammates the ball. Though he's only 18, he's played professional ball overseas for four years.

4. Sacramento Kings -- Tyreke Evans, 6'5", guard, Memphis, freshman.
Comment: Evans is not a true point guard; but, his size and quickness allow him to get to the basket almost at will.

5. Minnesota Timberwolves (via Washington) -- <strike>Stephen Curry</strike><strike>,</strike> 6'3", guard, Davidson, junior.
Comment: Curry is the best shooter in the draft; but, he's also a very good passer. Needs to add strength.

6. Minnesota Timberwolves -- <strike>James Harden</strike><strike>,</strike> 6'5", guard, Arizona State, sophomore.
Comment: Harden's old school style hides his athleticism. His outside shot is solid; and, he'll get better.

7. Golden State Warriors -- <strike>Jordan Hill</strike><strike>,</strike> 6'10", forward, Arizona, junior.
Comment: Hill's low post offense is better than people realize. He doesn't have to be prodded to compete.

8. New York Knicks -- <strike>Jrue Holiday</strike>, 6'4.25", guard, UCLA, freshman.
Comment: Point guard is his natural position. Confidence in New York could be a question.

9. Toronto Raptors -- DeMar DeRozan, 6' 6.25", guard, USC, freshman.
Comment: Great leaper. More athlete than ball player right now. Shaky perimeter game.

10. Milwaukee Bucks -- <strike>Jonny Flynn</strike>, 6'0.75", guard, Syracuse, sophomore.
Comment: 40-inch vertical leap. Solid point guard with scoring skills, too. Good defender, too.

11. New Jersey Nets -- Terrence Williams, 6'6.25", guard, Louisville, senior.
Comment: Jack-of-all trades. Needs to improve outside shot. Solid passer. Solid defender. Quirky.

12. The hairline fracture was discovered May 8th after the Rockets lost Game 3 of the Western Conference semifinals to the Los Angeles Lakers.

According the statement sent by the Rockets late Wednesday night, Yao underwent a medical evaluation Wednesday which revealed that the hairline fracture in Yao's left foot has not responded to the current treatment program. A bone scan conducted Wednesday night revealed that the hairline fracture on the top of the left foot has not yet healed.

Yao and the Rockets will consult with doctors who have previously participated in his care before proceeding with a new course of action. No timeline has been set for his return to basketball activities. There will be no further comment by the team until the best course of action has been determined.

“Yao is not experiencing any pain in his left foot, however, the results from the CT and bone scans we performed over the past two days indicate that the hairline fracture has not responded to the degree that we expected,” said Clanton. “We will review a variety of treatment options before proceeding.”

According to this article in the Houston Chronicle, one of the options is surgery.

Wednesday afternoon, during his pre-draft presser, Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey told the media Yao was in town taking tests; and, "we'll know when we get the results of those tests how things are progressing."

Unfortunately for the Rockets, the results of those tests showed things aren't progressing very well.
<!--

We want to position ourselves for the playoffs; so, it looks like it's going to be hard for Tracy to be here the good chunk of the year. So, if we can get a talented player that can help us all season, I think we've got to look at it. That's just my job."

Take a listen to the interview: "...we're getting a lot of interest..."
<!--

"Rockets personnel will be available for comment following the conclusion of the Draft (typically around 11:00 p.m.)."

I wouldn't necessarily describe this as an indicator the Rockets will go from currently no draft picks in the 2009 NBA Draft to acquiring one pick (or more) in the draft; but, I'll pass this along.

The Rockets are hosting a free viewing party for the 2009 NBA Draft in the main restaurant at the House of Blues on Thursday, June 25. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. as fans patiently wait to see what moves the Rockets will make to impact the 2009-2010 season. Rockets Center Joey Dorsey will make a special appearance to tell fans about his rookie season and experiences from the 2008 NBA Draft.

The Rockets Power Dancers are scheduled to appear as well.

The House of Blues is located at 1204 Caroline. Zip code is 77002.

On another (side) note, the Rockets emailed the NBA's 2009 Draft pronunciation guide of the draft prospects to the media today as well.
<!--

This is my mock draft which means these selections are who I believe the teams will pick. I believe trades will be made involving some of these draft picks; so, clearly, that will impact my choices. I may update it before Thursday.

This mock draft is only for the First Round.

UPDATED -- 6/24, 11:30 a.m.

3. Oklahoma City Thunder -- James Harden, 6'5", guard, Arizona State, sophomore.
Comment: Harden's old school style hides his athleticism. His outside shot is solid; and, he'll get better.

4. Sacramento Kings -- Tyreke Evans, 6'5", guard, Memphis, freshman.
Comment: Evans is not a true point guard; but, his size and quickness allow him to get to the basket almost at will. He's a willing passer, too.

5. Minnesota Timberwolves (via Washington) -- Stephen Curry, 6'3", guard, Davidson, junior.
Comment: Curry is the best shooter in the draft; but, he's also a very good passer. Needs to add strength.

6. Minnesota Timberwolves -- Ricky Rubio, 6'5", guard, Spain.
Comment: Though he's only 18, Rubio has played professional ball overseas for four years. He's a dynamic passer with a below average perimeter shot. He'll make his teammates better.

7. Golden State Warriors -- Jordan Hill, 6'10", forward, Arizona, junior.
Comment: Hill's low post offense is better than people realize. He doesn't have to be prodded to compete.

8. New York Knicks -- Jrue Holiday, 6'4.25", guard, UCLA, freshman.
Comment: Point guard is his natural position. Confidence in New York could be a question.

9. Toronto Raptors -- DeMar DeRozan, 6' 6.25", guard, USC, freshman.
Comment: Great leaper. More athlete than ball player right now. Shaky perimeter game.

10. Milwaukee Bucks -- Jonny Flynn, 6'0.75", guard, Syracuse, sophomore.
Comment: 40-inch vertical leap. Solid point guard with scoring skills, too. Good defender, too.

11. New Jersey Nets -- Terrence Williams, 6'6.25", guard, Louisville, senior.
Comment: Jack-of-all trades. Needs to improve outside shot. Solid passer. Solid defender. Quirky.

12. Charlotte Bobcats -- Gerald Henderson, 6'5", guard, Duke, junior.
Comment: Very good hops. Inconsistent jump shot; Decent one-on-one game; good defender.

13. Indiana Pacers -- Brandon Jennings, 6'2", guard, Italy.
Comment: Skipped college and played overseas last season. A lot of upside. Hopefully, has substance to match his flash.

14. Phoenix Suns -- Earl Clark, 6'10.25", forward, Louisville, junior.
Comment: Questionable motor. Solid skill set is diminished by his lack of focus.

15. Detroit Pistons -- B. J. Mullens, 7'1.25", center, Ohio State, freshman.
Comment: Freshman numbers last season were nothing great. Very raw. Some question his attitude.

16. Chicago Bulls -- DeJuan Blair, 6'6.5", forward, Pittsburgh, sophomore.
Comment: Lacks height; but, tremendous wingspan compensates. Very physical around the basket. Concerns about knee problems in high school seem to be laid to rest.

17. Philadelphia 76ers -- Eric Maynor, 6'3.25", guard, VCU, senior.
Comment: Very good point guard skills. NBA-ready right now.

18. Minnesota Timberwolves -- Austin Daye, 6'10.25", forward, Gonzaga, sophomore.
Comment: Only 192 pounds. Needs to add weight and strength and tougher. Very good perimeter skills.

19. Atlanta Hawks -- Ty Lawson, 6'0.5", guard, North Carolina, junior.
Comment: Exceptional floor leader. Very quick. Worked to improve outside shot. Tough-minded. Winner.

20. Utah Jazz -- Tyler Hansbrough, 6'9.5", forward, North Carolina, senior.
Comment: Better athlete than people realize. Exceptional work ethic. Very hard worker. Solid jump shot.

21. Streaky perimeter shooter. Good floor leader.

23. Sacramento Kings (via Houston) -- Sam Young, 6'6.75", forward, Pittsburgh, senior.
Comment: Maybe too old, 24, for baby Kings; but, Young is skilled enough to contribute now.

24. May stay overseas for a bit more seasoning.

25. Very good passer. Solid stand-still perimeter shooter.

26. Needs to work on creating own shot.

27. Good perimeter shooter. Shaky defender.

28. Tough, physical, hard worker.

29. As with every draft, teams are looking for players with upside and potential which is fine; but, one point I'm tired of being written and discussed is a player's athleticism.

Clearly, anyone who watches basketball knows an athletic ball player when they see one. Similarly, it's clear which players lack athleticism. However, my question is simple: can he play basketball?

The NBA is filled with guys who are great athletes. Big deal. How many of those great athletes can do nothing more than dunk the basketball? How many of those great athletes rely on their athleticism to carry them and refuse to work on their game rather than improve their weaknesses in the off-season? How many of those great athletes launch bricks from the free throw line?

The NBA is littered with guys who are fantastic athletes who get replaced by guys who, imagine this, actually have skills.

Kobe Bryant is an amazing athlete; but, Kobe is much more than a great athlete because he works his butt off and adds to his game year in and year out.

Larry Bird wasn't a great athlete. Magic Johnson wasn't a great athlete. Tim Duncan isn't a great athlete. However, all three of those "non-athletes" are Hall of Fame basketball players.

All-Stars are players who more than simply athletic. They have skills, too.

Obviously, in an ideal world, teams would love to have players who are athletic and skilled; but, far too often teams get caught choosing the best athlete instead of the best player.

Personally, I don't like players who can jump out of the gym or fly down the court but do little else to win ball games.

When teams make their draft selections this Thursday, hopefully, they'll choose players who are willing to improve every day rather than choose players who are merely athletic.
<!--

I know the Rockets have already worked out players; but, the players are not household names. Many of the workouts are for guys who may be invited to participate on the Rockets' summer squad.

The organization is being very hush, hush as the draft approaches. Aside from this article on rockets.com, a few tweets from Rockets' GM Daryl Morey; and, info provided by the Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen like this article, the Rockets aren't in the news very much in the city of Houston.

The silence from the Rockets doesn't signal lack of activity by the club. Far from it.

NBA teams are calling the Rockets inquiring about Tracy McGrady's status. Basketball people saw the Rockets give the Lakers fits in the 2009 Playoffs -- without McGrady; and, a few teams are assuming the Rockets are willing to give McGrady away for a small bag of bricks and some gift cards.

No way.

The Rockets' fans who are driving the "Get McGrady out of Houston" train simply want McGrady gone regardless of the deal. Any deal is better than no deal. But, the Rockets' organization cannot think so harshly.

The NBA is a business. If McGrady is indeed "motivated and determined" along with healthy (of course), his presence on the team would be an asset in 2009 - 2010. Clearly, that's a HUGE "if"; however, the Rockets have plenty of time to listen to trade offers from NBA teams until the February 2010 trade deadline.

If McGrady isn't healthy in 2009 - 2010, then, the Rockets can simply thank Tracy for his time with the club; wish him good luck in the future; and, use his expired contract next summer.

Would the Rockets like to obtain a pick in next week's NBA Draft? Yes.

Would the Rockets mortgage the future to obtain the pick? No.

The Rockets have been mentioned in rumors involving the 2nd pick; the 5th pick; and the 8th pick in the Draft. Haven't you noticed the most trades that are made were never leaked to the public at all? Internet or no Internet.

Things may be somewhat quiet in Rockets' land right now; but, free agency starts in July. Ron Artest's free agency status will liven things up in H-town in no time.

<!--

Foul! Foul!

I simply do not understand why coaches do not want their players to foul their opponent when they're leading by three points with seconds remaining in a ball game.

Obviously, I'm not asking for players to commit a foul on someone while they're attempting the three-point shot.

Thursday night, the Orlando Magic blew a golden opportunity to tie the NBA Finals 2 games a piece when head coach Stan Van Gundy told his players to not foul the Lakers in the final 10.8 seconds of the fourth quarter. Orlando led 87 to 84 at the time; and, the Lakers even helped the Magic by choosing to inbound the basketball in the backcourt which provided Magic ample time and space to foul.

"We thought 11 seconds was too early to foul, especially the way we were shooting free throws (Orlando missed 15 foul shots in the game)," said Stan Van Gundy after the game.

What did Orlando do?

First, trap Kobe Bryant in the backcourt -- for some bizarre reason. Bryant passed over the trap to Trevor Ariza. Next, Ariza then passed the ball to Derek Fisher.

Still no foul.

Fisher dribbled the ball across halfcourt -- no foul, yet; then, dribbled into his three-point jump shot. Sure, Jameer Nelson stuck his hand up. Big deal! Fisher's feet were already off the court and his head was above Nelson's hand.

By the time Fisher attempted the shot, six seconds (or so) were left in the game. Give me a break!

Fisher shoots ... Swish!

Game tied at 87.

Overtime! Lakers win the game in overtime 99 to 91 and lead the series 3 to 1.

WTH!

It's bad enough Nelson was inside the three-point line when Fish attempted the shot. Why didn't Nelson simply foul Fisher when Fisher crossed halfcourt?!

Coaches who don't like to foul in this scenario are afraid. They believe the opposition is going to make the first foul shot; miss the second foul shot; rebound the missed shot; then drain a three (not a two, trust me, coaches are paranoid) and win the ball game.

Wow! That sure is a lot of things which must go wrong for you and right for your opponent in such a small amount of time.

My belief is simple yet consistent -- regardless of the shooter, in the final seconds of a ball game, the shooter is going to do one of two things -- make the shot or miss the shot. That's a fifty - fifty proposition.

Compare those odds to the other scenario. Fouling seems like the better choice to me.
<!--

We're just hours away from the start of the 2009 NBA Finals! The Orlando Magic vs. the Los Angeles Lakers.

Superman vs. the Black Mamba.

It's time for me to add my take on the series. Here goes.

If Phil Jackson decides to start Andrew Bynum at center, how will Bynum handle Dwight Howard's power? Will the Lakers decide to double-team Howard and free up the Magic's three-point shooters or let Bynum defend Superman one-on-one and see if Howard is good enough to dominate on the offensive end for an entire series?

Personally, I don't believe Howard is good enough (yet) to be a legit scoring machine to warrant double-teams on a consistent basis; so, if that's the case, the Lakers can see if Howard can "get his" and limit the number of open three-point shot attempts for Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu, Mickael Pietrus, Courtney Lee, and Rafer Alston.

Howard got in early foul trouble versus the Cleveland Cavaliers; and, Orlando struggled to score without him. Howard simply must avoid silly fouls against the Lakers because Pau Gasol is skilled enough on offense to make Orlando pay even if Howard avoids foul trouble. Gasol isn't strong enough to bang with Howard for an entire game; but, Gasol is smart enough to make Howard work for his points.

If LA is able to cut down those open threes, how will Orlando adjust?

Turkoglu, 6'10", basically, runs the Magic's offense from the top of the key when Orlando goes into the steady diet of pick-and-roll offense. Can Lamar Odom or Trevor Ariza's long arms give Turkoglu problems in the pick-and-roll? Time will tell. Hedo can step behind the pick and shoot from three very well; but, he's also quick enough to dribble to the basket and finish or dish to an open teammate.

Rashard Lewis' game may be impacted the most if the Lakers are able to limit the open three-point shots for the Magic. Lewis is a much better spot up shooter than he is scoring in the post or attacking the basket. Lewis may need to do more of the latter two skills in order for Orlando to be successful in the series.

LA's success in the series may hinge on the production of the "Candy Man" -- Lamar Odom. Odom has been inconsistent player his entire NBA career; but, he needs to have a positive impact on both ends of the floor in this series for the Lakers to win four times.

Trevor Ariza must not try to do to much against his former team in order to show the Magic they made a mistake in trading him. Ariza is a good athlete; a good defender (except in the post); and a much improved three-point shooter.

Kobe Bryant is better than Courtney Lee. Bryant is better than Pietrus. Bryant knows this and the Magic players know it, too. However, Bryant must take smart shots. Lee and Pietrus simply must make Bryant work for his points as much as possible. The more Kobe attacks the basket the more problems he'll give Orlando. Kobe should not settle for outside jump shots. Orlando would be content with Bryant shooting jumpers the entire series. Trust me.

Mickael Pietrus became a household name in the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. Pietrus outscored the Cavs' bench players by himself; and, he also did a solid job defending LeBron James. Let's see if Pietrus can continue his solid play versus the Lakers. On paper, Pietrus seems to have the advantage over LA's Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, and to a lesser extent, Shannon Brown. However, Pietrus needs to take good shots and be smart with his fouls when he's defending Kobe Bryant.

As long as Jameer Nelson doesn't play a lot in the series for the Magic, LA's Derek Fisher should be able to defend Rafer Alston or Anthony Johnson because those three guys have the same foot speed. Nelson's quickness would give Fisher fits.

Alston must limit his turnovers and make a decent number of his perimeter shots. The less "4 for 13" (or worse) games Alston produces the better Orlando's chances of winning the series.

If Nelson plays consistent minutes, then Anthony Johnson's minutes will probably be reduced a great deal. If Nelson doesn't play, Johnson must play solid defense; make his open shots; and get the ball to Howard early and often.

I'm not going to discuss the coaching match-up between Big Chief Triangle (LA's Phil Jackson) and Ron Jeremy (Orlando's Stan Van Gundy). Both men simply need to make adjustments if necessary.

Bottom line...

KG says -- Lakers in 6. Last October, I picked the Lakers to win it all; so, why stop now?
<!--

Bosh has entered an agreement with Warner Music to produce a DVD and CD which will be released in the Fall of 2009. Bosh also announced he's the first athlete to launch his own iPhone and iPod Touch application. (I'm not very tech savvy nor do I own an iPhone; but, that sounds impressive.)

Read the full press release.

I wonder if this deal will convince Bosh to stay in Toronto beyond the 2009 - 2010 NBA season -- after he decides to opt out of his NBA contract.
<!--

For those who do not know what I'm referring to, after LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers were eliminated by the Orlando Magic Saturday night in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, LeBron walked off the court without congratulating the Magic players.

No dap. No pound. No head nod. Nothing.

Sunday afternoon, LeBron explained his actions by saying "It's hard for me congratulate someone after you lose to them. I'm a winner. It's not being a poor sport or anything like that. But somebody beats you up, you're not going to congratulate them on beating you up. It don't make sense to me."

Sorry, LeBron. I disagree. You're wrong.

You should have congratulated the Magic on their victory. Despite not helping you very much in the series, your teammates congratulated the Magic players. I'm sure they were disappointed, too.

For those fans, who're defending LeBron, feel free to do so; but, this isn't LeBron's first season in the NBA. He's been in the league six years; and, he has not yet won an NBA title which means his seasons have ended with disappointments before this one.

I know Dwight Howard jacked up a ridiculous three point shot with the game clock winding down Saturday night; and, Dwight was wrong for taking the shot. I'm sure LeBron was pissed at Superman for the shot; but, two wrongs don't make a right.

I'm not hating on LeBron by any means; but, I'm not giving him a pass because he's only 24 years old. He was wrong.

Let's move on to the other part of LeBron's actions after the loss Saturday night.

Not only did LeBron diss the Magic Saturday night; he dissed the media, too. As a member of the media, I hate his decision. I know the NBA has announced LeBron will not be fined for declining to speak with the media; and, I believe that's a cop out. Star or not. LeBron should have been fined some amount of money for not speaking with the media.

Writers have story deadlines; and, obviously, the media wanted to hear from LeBron after the loss. Clearly, I'm assuing the media contacted the Cavaliers (and the NBA) media reps before the game ended and requested LeBron be one of the Cavs players to be interviewed. The fact LeBron bailed on the media is not something which should be brushed off so easily. I know LeBron has been very cooperative with the media in his young career. He should have continued that cooperation after Game 6. Period.
<!--

Lakers and the Denver Nuggets, the Nuggets have given a few examples of why I picked the Lakers to win the series.

In game 1, with game tied at 99, Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin commits a silly foul with 30.5 seconds left against Kobe Bryant. For reasons known only to Martin, Kenyon reached in to deflect the ball from Bryant.

Huh?

Bryant made both free throws to give the Lakers a two point lead.

Then, after a timeout, Denver's Anthony Carter (6'1" - maybe) threw a bad inbound pass over LA's taller Lamar Odom (6'9") which Lakers' forward Trevor Ariza picked off and drew a foul on Denver's Chauncey Billups.

The Lakers won Game 1 by two points 105 - 103.

Next, the Nuggets revisited their inability to inbound the ball in crunch time, this time in Game 3, as Kenyon Martin -- there's that man again -- threw a soft pass (over Lamar Odom - him again?) attempt to Carmelo Anthony which, guess who, Trevor Ariza, picked off and drew the sixth foul on Anthony.

Nuggets lose 103 to 97.

As a result of mistakes like these, the Nuggets trail the Lakers 2 games to 1 in the series and face the proverbial must win in Game 4 Monday night.

Simply put, besides Kobe Bryant being a "bad, bad man", I picked the Lakers (in seven) because I thought the Nuggets would self destruct and inflict wounds to themselves which would give the Lakers enough life until Kobe delivered the knock out blow in Game 7.

Here's to you, Denver Nuggets. I appreciate your proving me right -- so far.

<!--

I decided on these before each series began; and, the way Denver and Orlando have played thus far, my picks look very, very shaky. I could lie and say something completely different; but, I'm too old for changing in mid stream like that.

Oh well.
