TO SQUAT OR NOT??

Sorry if I offend anyone with this post, but having lived with Crohn's disease my whole life, I thought I needed to share this.

Sitting unnatural  

The unnatural sitting position for using the toilet has become the norm in western society only during the last 160 years, since the non-ergonomic sit-down toilet was invented. Victorian attitudes towards ‘toilet issues’ are as old as the ‘throne’ itself and get in the way of preventing disease. 

Seven Advantages of Squatting

Makes elimination faster, easier and more complete. This helps prevent "fecal stagnation," a prime factor in colon cancer, appendicitis and inflammatory bowel disease.

Protects the nerves that control the prostate, bladder and uterus from becoming stretched and damaged.

Securely seals the ileocecal valve, between the colon and the small intestine. In the conventional sitting position, this valve is unsupported and often leaks during evacuation, contaminating the small intestine.

Relaxes the puborectalis muscle which normally chokes the rectum in order to maintain continence.

Uses the thighs to support the colon and prevent straining. Chronic straining on the toilet can cause hernias, diverticulosis, and pelvic organ prolapse.

A highly effective, non-invasive treatment for hemorrhoids, as shown by published clinical research.

For pregnant women, squatting avoids pressure on the uterus when using the toilet. Daily squatting helps prepare one for a more natural delivery.

Deer Park & Adventures with Animals

Today, we decided to take Hope to Deer Park in Jamestown PA A nice sized attraction for the youngsters.

We started out with the train ride. We seen lots of deer, timber wolves, camels, tigers and goats.

I love this photo. What a sweet wallaby this was.

We tried to feed one little deer, and a herd of 30 were soon at our treats =D

What a big fella this was, just look at those antlers! Hope feeding him a nice cracker treat!

Was a nice enjoyable Sunday with the lil one!

Looky what I found growing in my shrubs!! Four sweet kits. Yesterday they were still pink, today they have fur! They must grow super fast LOL

Whew! I have been so busy, with the kids, company, work, the beach etc.... and, I have finally finished something new!! I used a vintage sheer hankie for her dress.

Well, we had all intentions on visiting the beach today, but, it was way to hot for little Miss Hope.

We did enjoy our day as we pretended we were at the beach. We could escape into the cooled AC'd house when we got to warm. We decided the pool just wasnt warm enough, so daddy put the heater on, maybe tomorrow we will test the water LOL

We have all summer to venture out to the beach, so I really dont feel that bad that we didnt make it today.

I felt like a queen for 20 minutes!

I began my session with a tour of the salon, there were over 40 beds total, from plain jane ones to high pressure ones and of course the Sun Angel.

My tour guide went over all the bells and whistles. I undressed, lotioned up, then I had to scan my skin. Thats right, scan my skin. You take a scan of your forehead and of the inside of your wrist. The machine then takes the results and sets the beds' bulb power according to your results, thus not burning when you tan. I then proceeded to climb into this HUGE beautiful capsule and lowered the top. Put my eye protection on, and hit the start button!! I was cool the entire time with the awesome air conditioner and full body water mist that sprayed every 4 minutes or so, the aromatherapy smelled heavenly inside the bed and relaxed me almost into a nap state, I then decided I would play with the sound system WHICH was to die for, I listened to some type of swaying island music (very seductive and soothing) A mans voice guides you through all the bells and whistles once you are inside, and he was very pleasant sounding and forgiving if you pressed the incorrect button =D After 20 minutes, my slice of heaven was over! I climbed out, got dressed and left the spa feeling like a million bucks, and my base tan really is a few shades darker with no redness!!

All in all, I loved the Sun Angel, and if I happen to win the lotto, I will visit it again one day!!

Parker's last day (1/2 day today) of school! He not only received HIGH HONORS for the year, but he was given the award for Courage at this mornings Mass, and Excellence in Math at the school assembly!! He must take after his wonderfully intelligent, witty, funny and good looking mum! What am I gonna do with him at home all summer? Make him practice his cello? Drill him on spelling and vocab? Algebra? Nawwwww, we are gonna travel, swim, shoot air guns, play video games, putt-putt golf, go boating & camping, bike ride, hike, walk, ride dirt bikes and 4-wheelers, eat ice cream, ride rides at Cedar Point, and REST a little!

Ahh, my little Fluffy and Frankie! I am not sure if they both think they are cats or dogs. But, they bathe each other, sleep together, play and probably would eat together if mom let them!

Tonks are known to be like dogs, as ours wags his tail, begs for food, greets visitors at the door by jumping onto the back of the Lazy Boy, fetches and even hides his treats (just as our dogs do, using their heads to bury it the corner)

We are enjoying a lovely weekend, filled with Graduation, baseball picnics and gathering with friends.

I stepped away from mohair for a couple dollies this week. I had a project I needed to finish, so whilst I was making it in cloth, I decided to make up a teddy in the same. What do you think? I love them all, no matter what they are constructed from ;-)

What would they say? Well, I can tell you that they do take on their very own personality, each and every one of them! I have been working on these gals all week, in between my hectic schedules!! I cant wait for school to be done, as it seems I am running here and there constantly!!

I have decided to call my mohair bears CANDLESTICK BEARS & FRIENDS. This being due to the fact that most of them are attached to some sort of taper candlestick, either wood, ceramic or glass.

Daisy has been dressed in a darling baby dress salvage. Isn't that applique the cutest??

This is my latest mohair baby!!

There hasn't been to much going on here in my neck of the woods. Little league is in full swing, but with a 2 1/2 year old in tow it's rather hard to concentrate on the games.

Rather gloomy outside, perfect for sewing! I do hope the sun isn't so shy, as I really enjoy playing outside in the sandbox =D
