Project Romanian Rescue

Project Romanian Rescue (PRR), who provide homes for street children in Romania, are grateful for all those who have been praying for them. They have had financial struggles for some time but have seen God provide in these times.

They have asked us to pray that they may have less of these financial emergencies and more regular income.

Also, a key member of their staff, Camelia Vilcoci (Cami) will be getting married in September and leaving to live in Timisoara. This will make a big impact on PRR as Cami has worked with them for many years. Please join us in praying for PRR as they prepare for this change. Please pray too for Cami as she prepares for this time of change.

Mission Possible Albania

Please pray for the summer camp for children being run by Mission Possible in Bathore until 11th July. Pray for the people running the various activities such as crafts, dance, drama, singing and pray that the camp will be a great experience for those children attending.

Also in Bathore, please pray for the 'Spring' day care centre where children from needy families are cared for. Many of these children live in difficult circumstances. Pray for the staff of the day care centre as they demonstrate love, care and patience to these children.

Heart to Heart, Romania

Heart to Heart in Constanta, Romania is a drop-in centre for elderly people, providing food, warmth, care and fellowship for about 30 people. One of the men who attends was baptized in April, which was a great source of celebration.

Heart to Heart have asked for prayer support as they, like many of our partners, are struggling with finances at this difficult time. In order for Heart to Heart to keep on providing its services regular income is needed. Also, they have had to let two members of staff leave as they could not afford to keep them on. They have asked us to pray that they will both find new jobs.

Please bring these needs to God and ask Him to continue to supply all that is needed. Please also pray for Traian and Elena Pascalau, who head up Heart to Heart. Pray that God will keep them strong and refresh them both at this time.

Church in Turkey

Please pray with us for the church we have contact with in Turkey. Pray that God will show them the way forward as several key families have moved on leaving only a small group of ten people. They would love to fill the hall they meet in.

Please also pray for those they have made contact with who have shown an interest in the gospel but who face harassment from neighbours on account of this.

Eurovangelism Scottish Conference

Please pray with us for the planning of our first Scottish Conference which takes place in Glasgow on 13th June. Pray for Kirsteen Cowling as she oversees it plus pray for the speical guests Marinela Murg from Romania and Mark McCormick from Moldova.

We are praying that many people will attend this day and that it will be a means of reaching new contacts with news of our work with our partners in Eastern Europe.

Trial in Macedonia - update

We have just heard that the trial of Pastor Sasho and Sime in Macedonia has been postponed until 2nd September. The official reason given was that one of the lawyers did not attend.

Please continue to pray for these two men, their families and their church.

Trial in Macedonia 21st May 2009

Please pray once again for the trial of Pastor Sasho and Sime in Macedonia, due to begin on 21st May. (The trial is as a result of building work that collapsed). Please lift these two men up to God in prayer. Pray for strength for the men and their families and pray that His will be done.

Please also pray for the evangelistic outreach taking place in Negotino, Macedonia from 22-24 May. Pray that many more people will hear about God's love and will respond to it through this outreach.

Alpha course in Novi Sad, Serbia

Danny and Vera Kuranji and their church in Novi Sad have recently started an Alpha course. A number of those attending have been going through the drugs rehabilitation programme that Danny and Vera also run.

Please pray for the people on the Alpha course and for those leading the sessions. Ask God to help those on the course come to know him personally and have changed lives.

Moldova

Pray for the situation in Moldova, where the recent parliamentary elections resulted in protests and violence in Chisinau. Pray for peace and calm to prevail in a difficult environment. Please also pray for Mark and Mari McCormick and their work in Gotesti in Moldova.

Vance Golomeov in Macedonia

Vance and his wife Tanja work in the church in Stip in Macedonia. They have a young daughter and they share their home with Vance's mother. They have very limited space and very little privacy so, as you can imagine, living conditions can be quite stressful at times.

Please pray with us for Vance and his family. Ask God to help them in their living circumstances. They would like to live in another apartment but cannot afford this at the moment. Ask God to provide the means for moving, if it is His will and to grant greater peace in Vance's home.

Also, Vance has been having painful problems with his back. Ask God if He will sort this out so that Vance can do his work unhindered.

Trial in Macedonia - date postponed

We have today been informed that the trial of Pastor Sasho and Sime the works foreman in Macedonia has been postponed until May 21st.

Please continue to hold this before God and ask that His will be done. Please pray too for the families of those concerned, that they may know God's peace.

Life for Kosova

Our partner Artur Krasniqi is involved in the organisation of Life for Kosova, a week-long serving and outreach project in the city of Gjakova (6-12 April). A number of different churches will be involved working together on projects such as street cleaning, delivering food parcels to poor families and holding an evangelistic church meeting on Easter Sunday. The aim is to serve the community and show them God's love through the work done.

Please pray with us for Artur as he helps plan this outreach. Pray for the funds needed, for unity among the various churches working together and for good weather throughout the week.

Macedonia court case

Last year we asked you to pray for the pastor and the works foreman who were to face trial for manslaughter following a tragic accident during building work. The court process is due to begin on March 25th.

Please join us in praying for Pastor Sasho and Sime the works foreman who will be on trial. Pray too for their families at this difficult time and for the church.

Annual conference in Montenegro

This Saturday, 21st March, the churches in Montenegro will be holding their annual conference in Podgorica. Our partner Jovica Bacvanski tells us that they expect about 200 people to come.
The main meeting, an outreach meeting, will be held at 6.00 pm and friends, families and neighbours have been invited.

Please remember this outreach taking place. Ask God to touch people's hearts through His word and through testimonies. Pray that this conference will produce changed lives and will be a great encouragement to God's people in Montenegro.

PRR in Romania - Thanks

Thank you to everyone who joined us in praying for urgently-needed finances for PRR (Project Romania Rescue) for January and February. Daniel Mercado the director was so encouraged and grateful to God when the funding came in in good time.

Please continue to pray for PRR and its staff at this challenging and busy time. We have been asked to pray in particular for Cami who has been particularly stressed by work and has also been in hospital having back treatment. She has been suffering severe back pain and has been immobilised at times. Please lift up Cami in prayer.

Drug rehab centre in Novi Sad

Danny and Vera Kuranji in Novi Sad, Serbia have told us that they have recently started up a rehab centre for drug addicts. They have four young men on the programme at the moment and there are many more people they would like to be able to help on it.

Please pray for this new work in Novi Sad. Danny and Vera are praying that God will show them how many more people to include on the programme and they are looking to him to help them obtain a bigger facility and find more helpers in the work.

Please also pray for the men on the programme - that they will come through it well and, in due course, be able to help others in similar circumstances to those they have come from.

Greg and Jelena Sivulka, Sombor, Serbia

Greg and Jelena are pleased to report that, after nearly a year of renovation work, they have moved back into their church building. They had the funds to provide a new sanctuary, Sunday school room, office and bathroom. They are hoping to finish the work in due course. Thank God for the way in which many people have given generously to make this work possible.

Please pray for Greg and Jelena's church in Sombor. It is growing "slowly but surely". Ask God to bless their work in reaching out to people with the gospel. Also please pray for two women who came back to the Lord recently.

Please also pray for Greg and Jelena and their three children. Hana, the youngest child, has developmental problems. Please pray for patience and endurance for Greg and Jelena as they support and encourage Hana.

Dario Kapin in Bosnia

Dario Kapin is one of our contacts in Bosnia. He was unwell last year but is now recovering after surgery. Please pray that Dario will continue to recover well and will enjoy better health this year.

Please also pray for his housing need. The owner of the house he and his family live in has decided to sell it so Dario needs to find a new house as soon as possible and cannot afford much. Please pray that Dario will receive the financial support he needs and that he will be enabled to find a new home soon.

Project Romanian Rescue, Romania

Daniel Mercado of Project Romanian Rescue, Constanta in Romania has asked for urgent prayer. PRR run a girls' home and a boys' home to care for street kids and children referred to them by the Child Protection Agency.

Like so many at this time, PRR have been suffering the effects of the ongoing financial crisis and now it has reached a crucial point for them. They need a "short-term bail-out miracle" as Daniel describes it in order to pay and maintain staff and they also need a longer term resolution of the financial difficulties.

He has also asked us to pray for his colleague Cami, who is working hard under very stressful conditions. Pray for her health and strength at this difficult time.

We have been given details of the tenth annual International Day of Prayer and Fasting for Kosova. Please join in praying for Kosova on Saturday 31st January.

Pray that believers in Kosova will increasingly grow in knowledge and understanding of the good things they have in Christ.

Pray for Kosova to remain a peaceful multi-ethnic society.

Pray for the country's national political leaders.

Pray for justice and mercy to be exercised in Kosova.

Alpha course beginning in Macedonia

Please pray with us for an Alpha course beginning on Monday 26th January in Macedonia.

This course has been set up by church planter Vance Golomeov. This is a new venture for his church which sees new people coming along each week. Please pray that many people will go along to the sessions and will eventually come to know Jesus for themselves. Ask God to guide those leading the sessions.

New Alpha courses

A number of our partners are planning to start Alpha courses soon. Please join us in praying for these courses, in particular the following:

Slavko Hadzic and his church in Bosnia hope to start a course in February. Pray about the organisation of this and that many will attend.

Mark McCormick and his church have just started a course in Moldova attended by 18 people who are not Christians. Ask God to guide Mark and others who are involved in this so that they can introduce Jesus to many new people.

In Constanta, Romania Traian and Elena Pascalau plan to start an Alpha course at their church this year. They have asked for prayer for the team who will run this and also for those who will attend. They would also like to start a course in the old city, where about 70 people may be interested in attending. Please pray for Matthew and Estera who lead this work.

Finance concerns

Please would you pray with us about the impact that the value of the pound against the euro is having on our partners.

When we send money transfers to our European partners the actual value of what we send is seriously reduced compared to previously. This means that either we pay more or they receive less.

Breakthrough 2008/2009 Conference, Poland

We have been contacted by our partner Tomek Otremba in Poland who has asked us to pray for him.

Tomek will be speaking at a new year's youth conference, Breakthrough 2008/2009, in Warsaw on 29th December which drew 1500 young people from all over Poland last year. He will be speaking on the subject of making Jesus Lord, Master and King in daily life and obeying the Holy Spirit.

Please join us in praying for Tomek and for this entire conference.

Church planting and Alpha in Albania

Please remember in prayer our partners Hervin Fushekati and Elton Dautaj in Albania. Hervin is pastor of a church in Tirana which has planted out a number of churches. Elton leads one of the church plants. Please pray for them as they serve God in difficult circumstances. There is much poverty and corruption in Albania.

Elton has requested prayer for the Alpha courses he runs. Due to difficulties experienced in the past, before his time, Alpha has not always had a good name and Elton is trying to change this. There are currently five people doing an Alpha course, three from an Orthodox background, two from a Muslim background. Pray that they may be open to learning about and experiencing God through the Alpha teaching.

Elton is using Alpha as part of a theological training course he runs and hopes that students will go on to run an Alpha course in their own church.

Please pray for all of these initiatives and for encouragement and wisdom for Hervin and Elton.
