While students from nation’s capital Delhi also made it to the merit list with nine students, state capital Lucknow managed to get only four students in the coveted list. Shubham Toshniwal of Agra topped in BTech while Anuj Singh of Shahajahanpur in the Bpharma. The list of toppers in different streams included students from Bijnore and moradabad, too.Ashima Vishnoi of Bijnor topped in the Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) category, while the first rank in BTech (BSc) was held by Swami Nath Yadav of Mau district. Likewise, Mohammad Azharuddin and Ayush Agarwal topped in MBA and MCA streams. The results were uploaded on the websites: www.uptu.nic.in and www.upresults.nic.in. The counselling would be held after the counselling for JEE and AIEEE would be over. The number of students taking up UPTU seems to have stabilised. While some 2.62 lakh students appeared in SEE last year, their number rose to 2.72 lakh this year. But the cause of concern was low appearance of students in MCA category. Only 20,773 students appeared in the stream. The examination was conducted in some 31 centres including some in the six cities outside the state -- Bhopal, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Roorkee, Jaipur and Delhi.77 out of 100 toppers declared in the entrance test for various professional streams were boys. The fairer sex could manage to post its presence on 23 spots. In fact, but for one out of the 10 streams of professional courses, the first rank holder were boys. Ashima Vishnoi of Bijnor was the only girl who stood first in the entrance examination for Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT).Delhi guys fared better: nine candidates managed to register their names in the toppers' list. In fact, topper of Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharma) (diploma holder) -- Yogesh Sharma and Harinder Singh respectively -- were from the national capital. The performance of girls from Delhi was better. Out of the nine toppers from Delhi, six were girls. There were five candidates each from Varanasi and Ghaziabad making it to the toppers' chart. Four students were from Agra. Candidates from Allahabad too did substantially well especially in the BTech (diploma holder) as four students including the topper, Deepak Mishra, were from Allahabad.Students from smaller towns like Moradabad, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri and Mau too made their presence felt in the SEE. The first rank holder in BPharma and MCA category -- Anuj Singh and Ayush Agarwal respectively -- are from Shahjahanpur and Moradabad. Likewise, two candidates from Lakhimpur Kheri -- Aseem Misra and Devanshu Pandey -- made it to the top 10 positions in the MBA stream.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-3224989782107684993?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-60259215798156167032009-06-03T10:36:00.001+05:302009-06-03T11:01:38.469+05:30JAM 2009JOINT ADMISSION TEST FOR M.Sc. has been declared by the IIT kharagpur. The basic objective of the Joint Admission Test is to provide admissions to various M.Sc., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual degree and other post-B.Sc. All India Engineering/ Architecture Entrance Examination (AIEEE) results were declared today. Jain secured the first rank in the IIT entrance exam for 2009, taken by 3.8 lakh students in the country and abroad. From Delhi zone alone, 60,852 students took the test, of which a mere 1,524 were successful. Nationwide, 10,035 students qualified. He is the only second boy in the history to have accomplished the unbelievable task.He can now chose any college of his liking from one corner of the country to the other.Nitin Jain studied at Modern Vidya Niketan in Faridabad has reportedly decided to take admission in IIT-Delhi, country’s top ranked engineering college.Nitin scored 417 out of a total 432 to top the list of aspirants who would receive calls for counselling various engineering and architecture colleges across the country. He has decided to join IIT Delhi based on his IIT-JEE merit list.Jain has given credit to his parents, teachers and friends for the success. It's the boy who is topping the JEE one more time.In IIT the girls don't' seems to be getting the good ranks. Also the number of the female qualifies is as less as one tenth of the male counter parts this year only 1,048 girls have managed to secure a place in the JEE qualifier. The number of the females in IIT has been quite less over all the previous years. The one main reason for this is can be also that girls don't aspire to an engineers they prefer the medical line and generally go for CBSE. Their presence is the medical colleges are bit more then the male counterparts.Nitin, known as a science wizard in school, has won a gold medal in the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in Indonesia and will soon head to Mexico for another science olympiad. ``The education minister of Indonesia had also invited him to join the Bardung Institute of Technology for engineering. he will be the family's first engineer. The exam is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and Department of Secondary & Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in compliance with the directives of the Government of India (GOI). A centralized counselling system is provided for filling up the available seats all over India. This counselling is available only for the candidates who stand in merit of All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).AIEEE is probably the simplest of all the engineering exams held across the country, which makes it tougher to crack. Sounds strange? It isn't!.Many IIT-JEE (Indian Institute of Technology - Joint Entrance Examination) toppers fail to do well in the AIEEE exam each year. IIT-JEE demands building concepts and proper application of the concept, where as AIEEE demands speed and accuracy in the stipulated time, besides in-depth knowledge of the subject that JEE demands.JEE requires you to have strong command on fundamentals to be able to crack tough questions that may be presented in an indirect manner, so that it loks more complex than it actually is. Trivial concepts have to be understood, for they are the basis on which questions are being framed. To clear AIEEE paper, coverage of the entire syllabus, tricks to solve questions quickly and memorising ability, play an important role. Of course, luck matters, too!.AIEEE and CBSE Board exams have a lot in common and preparing for both of them side-by-side helps reduce burden as well as save crucial time especially, when every second counts! CBSE focuses more on theory while AIEEE has a numerical-based approach. It becomes relatively easy to solve numericals once the theory part has been understood thoroughly.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-1021010778417636658?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-16637056932664507032009-04-23T13:44:00.004+05:302009-04-23T14:40:53.308+05:30Courses for Journalism and mass communication1...Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha (GGSIP) University<br />The seven institutes under GGSIP University offer a total of 550 seats for the Bachelor’s programmes in journalism and mass communication .Students should have completed their class XII exam under CBSE or an equivalent board with a minimum of 50% aggregate to be eligible for the course. The common entrance test (CET) will be held on June 4.centre for media studies ,GGSIPU,25% of the test is dedicated to language skills (English)and comprehension,25% of it is based on general awareness,25% of it is based on reasoning and the remaining 25% is dedicated to media aptitude.the paper contains a total of 150 objective-type questions.each question carries four marks and is provided with four alternative answers.there is negative marking for incorrect answers.the two and half hour test carries 600 marks<br />For details students can log on to the website www.ipu.ac.in<br />2....AJK Mass Communication Research centre (MCRC),Jamia Millia Islamia.Six courses are offered by MCRC at postgraduate level in the field of mass communication .while the Diploma programmes are of one year’s duration.as to the test pattern of the MA courses,MO Siddiqui, professor of journalism at MCRC,explains that the test for the convergent journalism at MCRC,explains that the test for the convergent journalism programme will be divided into two parts –A and B.‘part A’ comprises 100 multiple choice questions, each carrying one mark.’part B’ consists of five descriptive questions(15 marks each).25 marks will be allotted to one’s writing style, command over the language and articulation.in addition,45 marks will be reserved for interview and 55 marks for portfolio presentation. The entrance test for a Master’s in mass communication programme camprises two papers.the first paper(200 marks)is designed to evaluate general knowledge and aptitude while the second paper (40 marks)is designed to gauge the candidate’s analytical power.in addition ,100 marks is accorded to portfolio presentation.this should pertain to media related activities.for more information candidates can refer to the website www.ajkmore.org/courses_merc/mass.asp<br />3....Indian Institute of Mass Communication,Delhi<br />The Master’s programme in mass communication, offered by the Indian institute of mass communication(IIMc),Delhi, has a totle of 220 seats. There are 55 seats each for print journalism in hindi and English.there are 45 seats for broadcast journalism and 65 seats for advertising and communications. The entrance test is scheduled for may 19.candidates are assessed on the basis of their observation powers, analytical skills and creativity.pradhan informs that the entrance test is of 85 marks, followed by a group discussion and interview comprising 15 marks.Graduates in any discipline who have scored at least 50% marks are eligible to apply.the application forms are currently on sale.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-1663705693266450703?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-1077300954132950482009-04-23T10:35:00.003+05:302009-04-23T13:43:09.051+05:30IIT-JEE 2009For over 6,000 seats in 15 IITs across the country, nearly 3.6 lakh students appeared in examination. In JEE 2009, the major changes were disappearance of assertion reasoning type of questions, subjective questions were back in the paper, and negative marking in (multiple) choice types. There was a qualitative shift in the kind of questions asked - these do not require a lot of rigorous problem solving, but rather a fairly good understanding of the concepts and the ability to comprehend and analyse.Overall, the number of questions were reduced from 135 last year to 117 this year. This year, Mathematics was the most difficult followed by Physics and Chemistry<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-107730095413295048?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-77797508383821609562009-03-14T05:42:00.001+05:302009-03-14T05:46:01.680+05:30Infosys Mathematics PrizeFor his outstanding contribution to Mathematics, Professor Manindra Agarwal of the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-K) has been chosen as the first recipient of the Infosys Mathematics Prize. The head of the computer science and engineering department at IIT-K, Agarwal has been selected for the award for his design of algorithms for testing of prime numbers. it is most useful for the online payment system. For online payment, the prime number is important. A slight error in judging the prime number can lead to the decoding of the credit card, Possibilities of hacking of credit cards increase if even numbers are used for online payment. The US-headquartered search giant is helping IIT-M develop a text-based search engine to index its video courses. The company will provide the grant to IIT-M in a few months.NPTEL plans to enhance the quality of engineering education in the country by developing curriculum-based video and web courses. Seven IITs and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, have collaborated to carry out the venture. The IITs have been nominated as the fourth-best institutions in providing free university courses.NPTEL in the first phase of the project, has developed around 250 courses. All of these are available online for a duration of 4,500 hours, free of charge. The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has sponsored the project with Rs 20 crore. In the second phase, the institute has asked for Rs 50 crore from the MHRD. The institute will double the of number of courses and will also conduct 200 workshops for the faculty involved to train themselves. The second phase will be complete in three years.Over 90 government institutes, government aided institutes and private institutes are using the services of NPTEL. IIT-M distributes web contents free of charge to the government-funded institutes. The institutes, which require video content, pay a minimum sum of Rs 15,000 to the institute to cover the cost of three 500 GB SATA hard disks and postage. It also allows the content to be hosted on a website local to the institutions (intranet). Privately-funded institutions can obtain the entire web course contents on DVD ROMs for hosting them on their Intranet for a fee of Rs 1 lakh. The SAARC member states also decided that the university would be established in India. The SAARC member states have already set up a Project Office for the university that India is funding for two years. It will also be the first international university to be set up in India and would have branches of learning in other SAARC member states.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-2925364161839803615?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-34863653256949866702008-11-05T09:49:00.001+05:302008-11-05T09:52:46.174+05:30MATH LABThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular to its affiliated schools to establish a mathematics laboratory in order to promote learning among students through work activities. It was suggested that the concept would likely to be introduced from class third till eight. This new concept would not only help the children but also the teacher to visually explain some abstract concepts by using three-dimensional models. The laboratory would help a student learn the subject with the help of concrete objects and verify and discover certain geometric properties using models and measurements. The board has directed the schools to emphasize on the tools and equipment’s to be used in the laboratory, should be made locally designed by innovative methods.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-3486365325694986670?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-79361669029410112972008-11-05T09:23:00.001+05:302008-11-05T09:41:39.843+05:30Quota for OBCsThe ministry of human resource development is considering a proposal to introduce preparatory courses at the Central universities to enrol quota students who fail to secure admission. The year-long feeder course would coach them for admission to the varsities. The proposal was put forward to the Supreme Court in September in a reply filed by the ministry in response to a petition seeking direction on the vacant seats in the quota categories in all the 13 IITs—seven existing and six launched this year. The proposal comes in the wake of implementation of 27% quota for OBCs in Central educational institutions this year, which has led to several vacant seats in the category. At the 13 IITs, which implemented a 9% quota for OBCs this year, just 20 out of 654 seats for the category remained vacant. But at the six new IITs, only seven out of 54, or 12%, of the seats reserved for ST students have been filled.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-7936166902941011297?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-48447477246556930082008-11-03T14:24:00.001+05:302008-11-03T15:33:17.076+05:30project evaluation committees for UPTUUttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) will now have to work on their final year projects from the beginning of the session. The university has decided to monitor the progress of the projects on a monthly basis so that students take their assignments seriously. The UPTU has started to set up project evaluation committees, which will be functional from the current academic session. The committees are being set up at three levels. The state level committee, which has already been constituted, comprises the vice-chancellor, additional examination controller and six professors — from university and engineering and management institutes. The other two types of committees will be set up by each of the institutions. While one will comprise selected faculty members headed by the concerned college director, the other will comprise senior teachers of different engineering and managements streams of the same college.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-4844747724655693008?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-16701993005759330172008-10-24T09:23:00.002+05:302008-10-24T09:34:59.309+05:30Hawking to retire as Lucasian Professor<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3U1gCZ4xH0k/SQFJSNRFaLI/AAAAAAAAATg/Z14j_BMscZw/s1600-h/stephen_hawking_1014465c.jpg"><img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_3U1gCZ4xH0k/SQFJSNRFaLI/AAAAAAAAATg/Z14j_BMscZw/s320/stephen_hawking_1014465c.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5260566416893241522" /></a><br /> British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking will next year retire as Cambridge University's Lucasian Professor of Mathematics, a position once held by Isaac Newton.it was policy for the title holder to retire at 67. Hawking, who has held the position since 1979 and has worked at Cambridge since 1962, will be 67 in January. The scientist, whose books including "A Brief History of Time" have sought to popularise study of stellar physics, will stay at the university but a new Lucasian professor will be appointed.Isaac Barrow became the first holder of the post in 1664, and notable successors have included Charles Babbage, Sir Joseph Larmor and Sir James Lighthill.Despite being almost completely paralysed by motor neurone disease, Prof Hawking became one of the world's leading experts on gravity, black holes, and the origins of the universe.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-1670199300575933017?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-85385310974352005092008-10-15T12:44:00.002+05:302008-10-15T12:48:41.276+05:30Times World University Rankings.America's Harvard University tops the list followed by Yale University also from the US, while the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, UK were placed third and fourth respectively by the Times Higher Education-QS World University Rankings.Over a third of the top 100 institutes are based in the US, even as nine Asian institutions have been included within the top 50, including three based in Hong Kong.Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Seoul National University are the two new entrants into the list this year.China has as many as five Universities in the top 200, with Peking University placed at 50 and Tsinghua University at 56.British universities have slipped down the world rankings, with Cambridge and Oxford losing ground to Harvard and Yale, while fewer British universities are in the top 200 list than last year.IIT Delhi and IIT Mumbai, which found a place among the elite institutions have been ranked 154 and 174 respectively.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-8538531097435200509?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-50586636127654415492008-10-15T11:53:00.002+05:302008-10-15T11:55:46.492+05:30UGC's scholarshipOne thousand meritorious students across the country would benefit from the UGC Suvarna Jayanti scholarships. The scholarships are for postgraduate studies from the coming academic year in conventional subjects such as humanities, languages, literature, commerce, and basic sciences. Balakrishnan and Justices Arijit Pasayat, C.K. Thakker, R.V. Raveendran and Dalveer Bhandari passed this order on an application filed by the former Chennai IIT Director, Professor P.V. Indiresan, seeking a direction that the 432 vacant seats in SC/ST/OBC categories in the IITs be filled by general category candidates. The apex court also directed the Union government to maintain cut-off marks for OBC students at 10% less than the general category. The institutes must “endeavour to fill up” vacant seats with general category students by the end of October, the Chief Justice said. The Centre, however, had already informed the Court that only 20 out of 654 seats meant for the OBCs in the 13 IITs remained vacant, of which 11 were in architecture/design course. Also only 47 seats meant for SC/STs remained vacant in the six new IITs because no preparatory course could be held.<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/19821758-8424912715346561614?l=hasanpurluhari.blogspot.com'/></div>ajay sainihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13617267313816167895noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19821758.post-32471658664640260022008-10-14T09:37:00.002+05:302008-10-14T10:12:52.435+05:3075% attendance minimum for taking examCBSE has issued a circular to all affiliate schools directing them to inform students about the exam by-laws well in advance. The by-laws state that candidates sitting for class X and XII finals must fulfil 75 per cent attendance to be eligible to sit for the board examinations. As per the examination by-laws, students short of attendance up to 15 per cent can only approach the CBSE chairman for condonation.
