For forty years it was a large magnesium carbonate quarry; now it's a popular scuba diving spot and the site of a bungee jumping venture, also famous in the Ottawa region for the small airplane submerged in one of the flooded pits. We went up last night to see the Perseides, but I didn't have much luck with the stars. I did, however, manage to get a few decent shots of the sunset... :-)<br /><br />There was quite a crowd at the lookout, with headlights constantly sweeping the parking lot and one guy helpfully pointing out the meteors with a laser pointer... nice for the regular stargazers, but not so nice for the photographers. And the mosquitoes were vicious! I knew Lester B. Pearson was buried in Wakefield, so we went in search of his grave and stumbled on Malak's. I did, however, manage to save some of the shots by using Lightroom's fill light feature and adjusting the tone curve.
