Our Congress people, representing the average citizen have a larger responsibility and absolute duty to the citizens, both civilian and military to deal realistic with the fact of invasion, war and occupation of Iraq. It may indeed be Bush's war since he initiated the invasion, but that doesn't give our Congress a pass on it, and it doesn't give American's an excuse to not act. Politics is politics .. war is war .. how is it that they go together, politicians who create or fail to intercede to end a much misguided invasion/war and occupation?

I expect more from my two Senators, so should you. Just an opinion from a military family who is weary after 3 + years of having the war on the backs of military families and troops.Lietta Rugerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03433551258363812393noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19686321.post-1152552984670141882006-07-10T10:36:00.000-07:002006-07-10T10:36:00.000-07:00Steve, When you can show me the statement in Sen...Steve,
When you can show me the statement in Senator Cantwell's own words that she was either duped, pressured or just flat wrong over her IWR vote, I will accept that she is not to some degree culpable for the ensuing invasion and continuing occupation. Senator "No Regrets" continues to make it clear that her position on the IWR has NOT CHANGED! Check your list of the 29 Dem votes and, of the members who remain in the Senate, tell me which ones have not recanted.

Saying there would not be a vote just dodges the essential policy question of unprovoked, pre-emptive war. She is still listed as a co-sponsor of the Santorum Iran legislation pending before the senate.

She just voted last week for the Oman "Free Trade" Act and does not apologize for sending our civil liberties down the river with her second vote for the Patriot Act.

Peace,
Chad (The Left) ShueChad Shuehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00661116811043692809noreply@blogger.com
