It's just there. In our garage/barn, stuff balances on other stuff almost magically, until you try to get something out from underneath and it all crashes down. For non-painters, dry-brushing means you don't have a whole lot of water mixed with your paint, and you're using a brush that's just damp, not loaded with a wet wash. But when I painted washes over the shadowed parts of the wall, I'd have to go back each time and re-up the grain that got washed out when the wet wash went over it. Part of what makes shadows look realistic is that you can't see all that much inside them. You can see something, but not the kind of detail you can see in a brightly lit passage. So some of that blurring and loss of detail worked OK in the shadowed part. But I'd go back and darken the essential parts.Julie Zickefoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06654698829603424649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19608656.post-89856200633024847602007-04-08T19:00:00.000-05:002007-04-08T19:00:00.000-05:00Thanks again for your running commentary while doi...Thanks again for your running commentary while doing the painting. I am wondering how you were able to keep the grain in the wood while darkening the shadowed part and not lose the grain with watercolors. Did you really dry brush it or what? Thanks.northern birdernoreply@blogger.com
