Zick -- I carry peppermint oil in the car; just put a drop on your tongue and it will help you stay awake. God, that is the scariest feeling, and I've felt it too, too often.

Chewing gum helps, too. And pinching the outside edges of your ears -- supposed to be something accupressury about that.

I will eschew any comments about your falling asleep. Seems you have been slapped enough--by yourself and by your readers.
Now about the goats--they are such wiley intelligent-looking creatures.
Actually puts me in mind of the scene from Cold Mountain (so much better in the book, although shown in the movie) when the goat woman suddenly cuts the throat of a goat, but does it lovingly, caringly.
Final note--the young women showing the goats are wonderful--so serious, so prim and proper, all decked out in white shirts and blue jeans.

I loved this goat blog, especially since I have 20 adults and 14 kids in my pasture these days. Our billie is a Boer but we don't eat them...my friends tease me all the time about having a bar-b-que. I love watching them play and interact with each other to much to consider eating one! We even have a three legged wether who gets around just fine...no one is going to find him on the stove, unless he jumps up there himself!
Next time you feel a nap coming on please be in bed! Chet, Charlie and the rest of your lovely family ...not to mention all your fans would be lost without you!

I've felt myself nodding at the wheel during trips up to MD - when rolling down the windows and talking to myself doesn't work, I stop the car and walk around gas stations for a while.

Goats are cute and it's nice to see Phoebe's friends showing them!

I have to say (as one of those freakish, but quiet, animal-activist-vegan people) that I soooooooo understood and sympathized with your feelings both in the
Hall of Dead Deer" in the post earlier, AND the thought about the sweet little MEAT goats here... I love watching all animals and their handlers and appreciate the value of the learning experoence the kids recieve... but I do have to feel awfully bad that all that work, care and attention is just going to end up on someone's fork.
