When we were "touring" for Identify Yourself: A Guide to the 50 Most Common Bird Identification Challenges last May, we tacked on book signings to our already crammed festival schedule. So far, nothing to the Pacific Northwest, but we'll be at the Festival of the Cranes at Bosque del Apache NWR in New Mexico this November. I've a feeling the Letters "tour" will develop organically as people get interested in the book and speaking engagements follow. Thanks for asking!Julie Zickefoosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06654698829603424649noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19608656.post-1154240993587404592006-07-30T01:29:00.000-05:002006-07-30T01:29:00.000-05:00Please tell me you'll be touring to Seattle, Wa.!I...Please tell me you'll be touring to Seattle, Wa.!
Is there a schedule? I thought it might be crass of *me* to ask you about it in an off-topic comment. (They think I am jumping the gun, but the early bird gets the autographed book, I always say!)

I thought Rotts held the patent on farting; don't tell me Bostons do it, too!

Had a bird rescue today - just as I opened the back door, a bird flew into my glass-enclosed back porch. Unfortunately, one of my cats was there, too. I was shrieking at the cat, who was leaping at the bird, who was flinging itself against every window on the porch. Every time I opened one window to let it out, it flew to another to escape the cat. Finally, I was able to grab it and toss it out an open window, then slam the window shut before the cat leapt out. Whew!

In my panic to avoid birdicide, I realized I don't have a clue what it was. Not any of my usual backyard residents, that's for sure. It was small, greenish yellow, and with a small (slightly curved?) bill. I am thinking it was a juvenile (or female) warbler of some variety. I have Common Yellowthroats breeding in the field across the road. Maybe???

Dang! Had a bird in the hand and didn't take time to look at it. Not a good birder while in panic mode, I guess.

KathiKatDocnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19608656.post-1154033384685217602006-07-27T15:49:00.000-05:002006-07-27T15:49:00.000-05:00I think you've got a great balance going but that ...I think you've got a great balance going but that doesn't matter. I'll be ordering mine from you. Are you doing any signing tours? Stan Tekiela did a stop at our local WBU last fall, they tend to have lots of events in October.

Does Chet burp? Robin does. I've never had a burping dog before, and it's hilarious. A little 4 pound dog giving you the sweet "pick me up" doggie look, then opens his mouth and burps at you!Maureenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06531960628089822469noreply@blogger.com
