Reading the day-to-day work that went into the rescue of the phoebes, and seeing the photos, makes it so much clearer just how much work is involved, and how the birds grow. Sure, I could read the facts as paragraphs in a book, but it wouldn't make as much of an impression as the individual stories of Luther and Avis. Reading that phoebes have a close bond doesn't stick in my mind as well as hearing of the actions of Luther and Avis when separated from each other. Thanks for taking time to share details like that.

I can understand (and empathize with) how difficult it can be to express what is so self-evident to oneself, particularly when the goal is not only to make others understand but also to care. I just want you to know that I get it and I care, and I wager that 99.9% of the readers of this blog do, too.

What you do is wonderful and generous, not just to the birds you tend but also to those like me who learn so much about the natural world through your words and actions. Thank-you for your good work. Avis and Luther are in my thoughts tonight.

It's hard to find words to express myself, since everyone seems to have done that for me. Thanks for caring about birds to the extent you do. The world's a better place for it.
